#3 of Spirits

Part Three of "Spirits" finds our vixen Baruna hatching a plan to return to the lagoon, intent on discovering what could possibly be down there, and why it frightens the village priestess so much. Though there is some naughtiness, I've managed to keep the "yiff" out nonetheless, so it's safe for viewing. =)

The next morning, Baruna avoided the Mulu as much as possible as she ate a breakfast of mango fruit quietly in the cradle of thick branches in a nearby jambu tree.

So many questions she wanted to ask Heeto, but she didn't dare. She knew he would be watching her like a bat hawk now, and Loka too. Sure enough, there he was, sitting by the fire with his group, eating the remains of their kill. Heeto looked up briefly at the vixen in the tree and gave her a warm smile that was not returned.

She finished eating and climbed down from the tree, walking past the fire as Heeto got to his feet, followed by a few quiet chuckles from the other wolves. "Baruna, may I speak to you?" But the vixen pretended not to hear him, going on her way and back inside her tent.

She avoided Heeto as much as possible that day. When she was asked to join with some other girls to string necklaces, something she loathed, she reluctantly accepted, and spent most of late-morning sitting cross-legged on the ground, listening to the other vixens chattering about, well, everything. It bored her to tears but it was better than trying to sneak around and risk getting caught. She knew at any time Heeto would talk to her about the lagoon, and would probably give her a reason not to go. But could she risk going alone?

She thought about her dream; kicking and strugging, drowning slowly in a tangle of strange chains, helplessly anchored to the bottom. And she could not bring Jeru with her this time and risk him saying the wrong thing. Her brother was brave and headstrong, but if the vixen discovered something in those depths, sure as the sun set and rose, word would spread through the village like a wildfire.

Then there was another option: to leave things be and not try to do anything. To remain the same blind, naive vixen everyone wanted her to be, to become part of the Mulu and Kekee circle, always turning in one direction and never going anywhere.

She thought of mating with Heeto, the idea of his paws all over her, caressing her, making her feel so warm. Last night at the stream, he had been watching her, she knew, and yet she didn't mind it so much. She noticed she had been doing that a lot lately; not giggling foolishly like some of the other girls, but looking at Heeto a bit differently, and making sure her long hair was done attractively; that she always gave off the right scent walking past him. There was disgust for him, and now distrust of him - and yet a part of her, deep inside, wanted very badly to feel him close to her, touching her, kissing her, moving slowly inside her...

She squirmed a bit on the ground, curling her legs up and tucking the loincloth she wore a bit more between her legs, blotting gently at the perspiration forming at her fur there. How in the name of the gods had she gotten so hot?

"Baruna, you stop, you no well." One of the girls, Shayla, petted her arm.

"Yes, I know. I guess my mind started to-" She stopped and sighed, reverting to her less than 1,000-word tribe-speak so they would understand her. "I rest now, Shayla. No work good." She got up from the ground and dusted herself off, and caught Heeto looking at her again - this time as he was coming out of Loka's hut. Their eyes met and he smiled at her again, but the vixen hung her head down, pretending to be interested in something on the ground until he walked away again.

She suddenly badly wanted to talk to Loka. It didn't make sense to her, but if they were both being watched, Baruna had to tell her. She had to trust one of the few vixens in the whole village that she had come to despise. But how could she even speak with her, if she was being watched? Had Heeto told Loka what had gone on last night? I have to get her alone somehow, but how, she asked herself. Then an idea struck her.

Heeto.

-If his job is to watch me, perhaps I can slip away from him, and visit Loka alone. Surely they are not watching her inside her own hut. And if she stays in, and no one sees me go in...-

Quickly the vixen worked out a plan, ducked into her tent and several minutes later padded up cautiously to the Mulu attending their fire, spotting Heeto at the far end of the line of wolves. "Heeto?" the girl padded past the wolves, as the others stopped talking to look at her with shining, watchful eyes.

The vixen stopped in front of the grey wolf, smiling. "I was going to go to the river. I would like to know if...you would, maybe," she shrugged, "like to join me...for a swim?"

The rest of the wolves looked dumbfounded. Baruna had never done this; had never even thought of approaching the pack in this manner, yet here she was, looking quite fetching in a lovely blue loincloth and wrap that barely covered any part of her, clasping her paws behind her back and smiling like a girl in love.

One of the wolves she recognized from the night before, Captain, he had been called, growled at her softly. She looked him over briefly, careful to keep her warm smile, then returned her gaze to a flushed and sweating Heeto as he answered finally. "I..." He realized the others were watching them both closely, and he quickly stood up. "Yes, of course, but I may not swim. I will just keep you company so you do not wander too far like Saka did..."

Baruna giggled softly, "You will not need to rescue me. But come, we can stop to have some fruit before we go..." She quickly reached for his paws, pulling him away from the other staring Mulu, and starting down the winding path through the jungle.

"I thought of you a lot last night, Heeto," the vixen smiled as they walked, her fluffy tail bobbing up to gently caress his hip. "It was difficult to sleep..."

Heeto swallowed hard. "I thought much of you too, lovely Baruna. I was...not able to sleep at all. I would close my eyes and see your face and..."

The vixen turned and stopped walking, facing him, rubbing her nose along his whiskers delicately. The heat was coming off of her again in waves and she trembled. "Well, here is my face..." She whispered and pressed against his nose with her lips. Heeto visually melted and wiggled his nose a little, and Baruna laughed softly, pulling away from him and running the short distance to the riverbed ahead of them.

Heeto caught up to the girl as she started to wade in, and Baruna smiled over her shoulder at the wolf, untying her bottom and top, tossing her only clothes into a small pile before turning and wading naked into water up to her waist. "It feels cold..." the vixen turned to face him, pouring water from her paws over her breasts and caressing them. "Come on, Heeto...I will not bite...I promise."

The wolf watched the young vixen bathing herself, much as she had done last night in the stream, and that decided him. He stepped forward, untying his own loincloth, realizing he was fully aroused, before stepping into the mercifully-empty river and wading out to the girl.

"Baruna...this is not right...y-you should be mindful of the current here," he finally had reached her, as the vixen turned and headed out deeper.

"Oh, do not be a baby, Heeto," the vixen's tail came up and splashed him as it thwacked against the surface. "Come...swim with me..." Taking a deep breath, she rolled forwards, disappearing under the water in a spray, her tail and pointed toes following her down.

Heeto swallowed hard, looking around cautiously, then ducked his head down, stroking after the girl.

Baruna dove downwards, heading towards the bottom. The water was very beautiful, not much silt and sand to kick up like the lagoon, and as she reached it and turned her body around, she noticed the wolf swimming down after her. She murrred a little trail of bubbles from parted lips and sent to him, like a mental giggle. *You are so slow, Heeto...come, catch me...* And she slowly scissored her legs teasingly, keeping just ahead of him.

*Baruna, slow down, wait for me!* Heeto complained, kicking his legs hard to keep up. He couldn't hope to match the vixen's speed in the water. He cursed himself for not swimming more often - and for how much desire he truly felt about the girl. She blew bubbles as she continued to kick backwards and Heeto finally caught hold of a foot, pulling the girl, giggling, into his arms. The kiss that followed was warm, slow and very deep. Her tongue poked delicately into his mouth several times to taste him, and she felt her excitement treble. Her legs wrapped around his waist, drawing her feet across his tail slowly.

His paws slid down to her hips to hold, and were it not for the urgent need for a breath, he felt himself ready to mate with her then and there at the bottom of the river. She wiggled free of his grasp and pawed at his ears as she rose up past him to the surface again, gasping and tossing her hair back.

Heeto came up inches from her face and she smiled, slipping her arms loosely around his neck and kissing him deeply again for another long moment. She felt his large paws slide down to hold her bottom, squeezing, and then his urgent need pressing firm against her belly. "Mmm. Let us play a game, Heeto..." she blushed after pulling away from his taste, then brushed her mouth across his tenderly. "I hide and you try to find me...?" Warmth pressed firmly against him above and below the surface, and a croak seemed to issue from his throat as he wordlessly nodded.

Baruna giggled again. "You must give me time to hide though. Close your eyes at least a minute..." Without waiting for a reply, she took a great gasp of air and dove back down in front of him. He felt her body underwater, swimming past his legs, stroking over his tail, and he shuddered hard, closing his eyes. "Alright, playful vixen..." He slowly counted, while behind him several feet, Baruna carefully surfaced again, only her eyes showing, and watched him as the wolf counted. She started wading slowly away towards the shore.

When he finally dove down, the vixen turned and splashed from the water, grabbing her loincloth and wrap, tying them around her again, before reaching down and grabbing Heeto's clothes as well.

She looked back at the river again, then turned around and ran as fast as she could back towards the village. She still had to find a way past the Mulu now.
