This is my first attempt at a story x3 hope you like it chapter 2 coming sometime :3

It was Monday around 8:30am, a fairly sunny day, the sunlight beaming onto the pavement through the trees, decorating it with interesting swirls and shapes. Hardly a cloud in the sky was to be seen as a tall, slim faced, and trim looking panther with a long patch of fur trailing along his neck like a necklace chain was strolling leisurely to school.

The black fur of the panthers coat shined like paint work on a car as he looked up at the clear blue sky and sighed. He was relieved that it was a nice day, there always seemed to be a sense of chaos when it was raining or cloudy. He liked his walk to school every weekday morning; it was 'the calm before the storm' as he would say to his few friends at school. He was mostly a loner, a fur that would rather enjoy his own company then anyone else's. Although the friends he had would often say hello when passing and hang out with him from time to time. He sighed again, thinking of the homework he hadn't done the night before. He slung his black backpack over one shoulder as he took off his jacket and held it loosely in one paw.

It was 8:50 when he got to school. He walked into the gates and through the entrance where he got some interested looks from the female receptionist and teachers who were checking their mail. He ignored them, he was used to them by now as he did usually get some looks, being quite good looking at 17 even some teachers took a liking to the way he looked and dressed. He was always casually dressed. Never anything too tight, except for the few vests he sometimes wore on really hot days. He walked down the hall and through some corridors, pushing open doors and letting people through in a rush to get to class as he walked to his first class.

Math. He wasn't too keen on math but it was always a chance to just listen to his music and shut off from everyone else as they babbled on not paying attention to the teacher at all. Mrs Kale, a petite field mouse would always give up within 5 minutes of the lesson and just give out sheets of math equations for them to do.

He sat down at the back of the room, pulled out his chair and threw his bag under the table by his feet as he sat. He looked around the room at all the faces, all the furs he new names of but never spoke to. He sighed once more and reached into his dark denim jeans pocket and pulled out his IPod.

Mrs Kale came in as usual and set her papers and laptop down on her desk, pushing back her glasses and fastening up her cardigan, she looked around the room a little out of breath as she rustled through her huge pile of papers for today's class equations. She was quite scatty and never really seemed to be on the ball. She pulled out 30 sheets of paper and passed them to the nearest pupil, who passed them around taking one for herself. The panther was the last one to get one as he took it and got out a pencil.

The math equations for today were algebra. He liked algebra; it's what he was best at in the subject. He switched his music on to something down beat as he started work on it. Once finished he looked out of the window in front of him and watched the trees brush and rustle together in the slight breeze which kept today from being too hot. He looked at the vibrant grass 2 stories down from him and watched each blade sway in unison to the wind.

He was looking for a while, when something caught his eye. His gaze turned to the figure that was walking down the path in the grass leading to the school gate. A slender female lynx, holding her books clutched close to her chest as she looks around the building. Her long dark hair flowing behind her in the breeze, with her average height helping her to be clearly seen in the long grass.

He stared at her for a while, not recognising this unfamiliar female as she walked out of sight. He blinked, raising his eyebrow and started on the new set of equations that are put in front of him.

After the first class of the day, break was the same as always for the panther, but today his friends wanted to join him in the corner he usually hangs out in, in the science block. An Otter, Ocelot and Tabby came up to him and were talking and ranting on about their lesson as they usually did.

The bell rang. It was time for second class which was science. He sat in his usual spot at the back and stuck his headphones in. Everything was as usual as it always was. There was a knock at the door, which caused the panthers ears to twitch as he heard it through the music and looked up at the door. There was the female lynx he had seen walking to the school entrance. He sat up and looked her over, her skinny jeans showing off her trim figure as her loose top helped her outfit look cute but suitable.

He turned his music up and decided he wasn't interested. She was introduced to the rest of the class and was told to find a seat and sit down. She looked over the classroom and there were two seats left, one by a bulky looking grizzly and one by the panther. She thought the panther was less intimidating so she walked over to him gingerly and took a seat. He glanced over at her as she bit her lip nervously and got out her text book. The teacher waited a few moments before beginning the lesson.

The lynx rifled through her bag looking for something and grumbled as she threw her bag to her feet and looked at the panther. She hesitantly tapped his shoulder and waited for a response. He looked up at the teacher before turning to her and looking her straight in the eye not phased by her presence.

"Um.. excuse me.. do you have a pen I could borrow please?" she says as she bites her lip awkwardly "uh.. I guess I do" he grabbed his bag and searched for a pen and passed it to her "Thank you" she smiles a little at him "your welcome miss." He said as he went back to his textbook work.

For a while they work on, the lynx paying more attention to the teacher then her book. She soon grows bored and looks at the panther "excuse me.." she tilts her head forward at him as he looks up and takes a headphone out "yes?" he sighs some. "My.. my name is Rosetta. What's your name?" she says a little shyly. "My names Jacob, Nice to meet you." He nods and puts his headphone back in. She smiles and looks down at her work and continues.

The lynx sits at the desk next to Jacob tapping her pen on the paper, thinking in a daydream rather then working, though she put on a good act to look like she was. She was thinking about what sort of person Jacob could be; weather she should ask or just leave it and find different furs to eventually talk to. She turns once again to the Jacob, but just as she opens her mouth to speak the bell rings. Jacob almost instantly packs up and walks out the classroom, returning to his corner in the science block just down the hall. He sits there for a while as Rosetta steps out of the classroom and looks both ways she could go before spotting Jacob eating an apple in the corner.

She looks at him for a while, fighting the battle in her mind weather or not to go over and try and make a new friend. "What the hell.. I got nothing to lose" she shrugs to herself and strolls awkwardly over to him.

"Um.. hello Jacob" she says as her voice quivers unexpectedly. He looks up at her and swallows the chunk of apple he just before had bitten and coughs it down "uhm.. hello Rosetta" he splutters. She smiles and sees this response as an invitation. She takes it and sits by him, laying her bag beside her and getting out a cheese sandwich. "What are you doing here?" Jacob looks at her with a slightly raised eyebrow, "well.. im keeping you company, yano just thought you'd like some, plus I don't really have anyone to hang out with.." she nibbles her sandwich. "Oh so your using me huh?" he takes a bite from his apple "no! not at all, I just want a friend.." Rosetta looks down at her sandwich slightly embarrassed at her confession, also a little disheartened. Jacob looks at her and sighs, rolling his eyes "well I don't really do friends but I spose just this once I could use some company" he swallows his apple. The lynx flicks her eyes to him and perks up instantly, her ears perking up and her smile so wide her cheeks are hardly visible, "thank you Jacob, I would love to keep you company" she wiggles in her seat chuffed with herself.

They sit there for a while eating their food and looking around at others passing. Rosetta turns in her seat and looks at Jacob smiling. "So I was thinking about what you just said.. what do you mean you don't really do friends?" she tilts her head curiously. Jacob looks at her and takes a swig of his drink before sitting up from slouching "well.. I don't do friends. I'm a lone male really. I'm more comfortable with my own company, i don't have to try and please people." He shrugs "well don't mind me. You don't have to try and please me at all, just be yourself is all I'm asking" she returns the shrug and smiles at him. 'Hmm..' the panther smirks at comment and clears his throat 'well that makes a change' he smiles ever so slightly at her. She giggles and finishes her lunch as does he.

Jacob rests his head back against the wall looking a little fed up as Rosetta glances at him 'what's wrong Jacob?' 'Oh nothing, just there's two more classes to go today and I really don't feel like it.' He sighs and rubs his temples 'oh? Don't you feel well?' she looks concerned at him as she pivots round to face him, 'I'm fine I'm just not with it today I guess' he yawns and jumps a little as the bell rings for class. 'Well I spose ill see you in another lesson maybe or tomorrow then' he mumbles as he packs up and stands 'oh, yes, well I hope so' she smiles at him as she does the same and looks at her timetable, 'I don't think I have anymore classes with you today ' she pouts a little, down by this. They smile at each other and head off in their separate ways awkwardly.

After class Jacob walks out the classroom, slinging his bag over his shoulder and starts his journey home. He looks up at the sky as it begins to cloud over, setting the day up for the night to come. He looks around the street and sees the lynx walking over the other side of the road. He coughs loudly on purpose, the Rosetta looks round and smiles 'hey Jacob!' she shuffles over the other side of the road to him and walks next to him. 'Hey Rosetta, how was class?' he looks at her, swinging his bag over his other shoulder opposite her side. 'Oh it was ok.. I made a new friend and stuff.. I kinda like it here' the panther smiles at her 'well good, I like it here too' they both trade a smile at each other and walk to Rosetta's house as hers was nearest. She opens the door and waves goodbye to Jacob before he leaves for his house, walking the short distance from her house to his, he thinks about Rosetta, and how she's the first person he wouldn't mind hanging out and talking with.
