The Church Dragon - Part 2

It could have been Hannah, the pastor's daughter.  It could have been Manda, or maybe even Ryan, the pastor's son. Whomever it was, they were not ready to come face to face with a Dragon. This seemed to hold true even though I am a Christian. Yet the door opened, and I found out soon enough who it was that I had heard trodding on the pavement.

                "Manda!? GO! Away!"

                "Huh?" came her clueless reply.

I was just around the corner, and I knew well that my saying for the girl to go away would only give her more incentive to turn the corner and see me. After all, my voice sounded as it did normally, only much louder, so how could she notice?

"D-Don't look! Church has started! Go there!" I uttered.

Broken English was all I could manage to get out my mouth.

                "Jackie?"

                "No! You...You don't...understand. Just GO!"

Manda did nothing except laugh a bit, and I heard her come closer.

"You don't listen very well, DO you?" I asked in an impatient tone. I unwrapped my tail from around my neck, and let it lay on the floor.

It was too late. She wasn't going to listen to me, anyway. Manda turned the corner, and when she saw me, she screamed. Quickly from my paw I fired a charm at her, making her fall silent.

"Quiet!" I said rashly. "I always told you I was a Dragon! Did you not believe me?"

Because the charm I had used only stunned her, a bit later she began to answer. "I...wow. I...I don't know what to say."

As she was laughing, I could tell it was out of nervousness. Poor Manda was scared out of her wits. But the fear she experienced was nowhere near that of my being found out. I managed a weak, jerky smile at her, and then bowed, keeping my tail held straight in the air, and my head literally on the floor, so that my body was in a steep slant towards the girl.

"Labatryth Lyndynhyra, at your service, Manda."

"Oh. Uh. S-So you didn't really...just come up with that name, d-did you?"

Trying to remain in control of my own fear, I took on a wise tone. "If you ran it would be better for both of us."

Manda spoke in a shaky voice. "Well, I mean...It's more cool to see you this way than anything. Some'd be afraid, but I think it's awesome."

Surprised, I tilted my head to the side, looking at her, my head angled sideways. "Huh? I thought...you'd be terrified."

"Meh. In role-play you seem so real, it sort of trained me to see the real you. I never really KNEW for sure that you were...that you WERE a Dragon, you know?"

                "I see."

There was a bit of silence as Manda looked at the various kinds of jewelry I wore, such as gold collar, bearing the seal of Lyndynhyra on its front, a cross hanging from the middle of the collar's bottom. She surveyed everything about me, from the gold chains hanging from my ears to the gold bands on my legs and tail.  Then after she took a glance at my mane, a very LONG glance, she looked at my eyes, and jumped up and down, clearly excited. She never did seem to care about my forked tongue, or the fact that my ears were pointed, as a jackal's.

"Wow! You look so totally freakin' awesome!" she said.

"Uh. Sure." was all I could manage to say, letting my tail lay flat on the ground. Part of it made its way into the nursery. I had to pull it back towards me. I wished she would move, so I could at least get uncramped, but the next thing she had to look at was my scales.

                "Black. Just like in RP!"

                "Uh..."

The next thing that required examination were the snakelike whiskers hanging from my face. They seemed to be a popular thing to stare at, and doing just that, Manda occupied herself about two minutes. Finally she looked at the floor again, but that was only done once she had seen everything about me, from the horns that came out the top of my snout and curled upwards, to the many gems I had pasted on my neck. Still other sharp horns protruded from my skin on the sides of my face. I most certainly was a "terrifying monster".

"Wow! You'll take me for a ride then?"

I chuckled nervously, laughing with more breath than with voice.

                "Uh...heh...Awkwaaaaaaard..."

                "Do it. Please."

                "A-Alright."

                "Sweet!"

Finally managing to get a sparkle in my eye, I smiled weakly at Manda and simply lifted my paw and pointed straight ahead. "Move."
