#3 of Just Like You Imagined

Acara sighed and stared blankly at the white wall in front of her. She had been in a ditch the past few weeks. It had been a month, exactly one month since the Nine Inch Claws concert. That meant tomorrow would be exactly once month since she woke up alone realizing that she was just another fuck. Her green eyes traveled to the calendar on the closet door. She counted the days and figured out in three more weeks would be a month since she had an abortion.

"I hate this," she whispered lowly. All of her good friends knew what happened, since she called up Nathan crying. They tried their best to cheer her up, but Acara just ended up feeling worse. Then once she found out she was pregnant she felt everything just crash down around her. Her friend Hunter was the most worried, she knew the feline for over six years, and was with her for some of the worst periods of her life. She knew how depressed the calico cat could get.

Acara decided she should just go to bed and sleep the rest of the day. She pulled herself out of the chair, but halfway to her bed the phone rung. "Who is it now?" The cat hissed. If it were Nate or Hunter again she'd be pissed. The feline didn't recognize the number, but she answered it anyway. "Hello?" Her voice sounded much more annoyed then she intended.

"Hi Acara, this is Diane from the Internship Office at Berklee!" Despite how the feline sounded, she still spoke with a cheery voice.

"Oh, hello." What did she want? The cat put in an application for an internship the month before, and figured that no one wanted her for anything. Was this girl calling just to rub in how much of a failure she was?

"Great news," the women sounded generally excited, "We have someone who would like you to intern with them! They want to interview you tomorrow! Can you make it?"

Acara's eyes went wide, and a smile crossed her lips for the first time that day. "Really? What kind? Who is it?" Suddenly there was the slightest bit of hope.

"His name is Rob Silverwing, and he's a tour manager. The internship would take place over the summer, since he will be managing a tour then. Will tomorrow at 10 be ok for you?"

Acara figured the fur was on the other line, so she quickly told her that was fine and hung up. "I have in interview!" She cried out happily. The feline quickly dialed up Nathan, who was ecstatic to hear the cat in such high spirits. Not even ten minutes later he was at her apartment with Hunter to go celebrate.

"Acara! I'm so proud of you!" The otter turned around in the car to give the feline a hug. "I told you that you'd get something!"

"Thanks Hunter!" The feline grinned. "You should draw me a picture to celebrate!" The otter just laughed. Acara loved forcing the artist to draw her pictures, she was quite the art whole.

Nathan turned around in the drivers seat to face the cat, "Well, where do you want to go? Our treat!" The felines eyes lit up at this, and the panther knew exactly what she was going to say. "We knew it!" He looked knowingly at the otter, "Legal Seafood's right?" The cat shook her head up and down in excitement. "Just don't order a lobster!" They all laughed as they drove off.

"I'm so stuffed!" Acara patted her stomach on the way out of the restaurant. "That tuna was so good!" The feline was purring happily. "Thank you guys so much!" Her tail twitched back and forth as the three made their way though the Prudential Center. "I should go home though, my interview is at ten." She smiled broadly, giving her friends a toothy grin.

"Sure, I'll drive you home," Nathan pat the smaller feline on her head.

Hunter nodded and put a piece of hair behind her ear, "I'm taking the T back. I need to finish my print at school." The otter ran to Acara and gave her a big hug. "You're going to own that interview tomorrow! Call me after you get it!" She giggled and waved goodbye to the two.

"Bye Hunter!" The calico cat waved back and sighed. "I'm going to get it right?" She looked up at Nathan, suddenly a bit worried.

The panther nodded, he didn't have a doubt in his mind. "You'll get it. You've been doing so much work and research on this, I bet you could manage a tour by yourself!" This seemed to reassure the feline, causing her worry to vanish for a bit.

On the way back, the car ride was almost silent aside from the faint music from the radio. Acara was in deep thought about what she should wear, and what this Rob would be like. Nathan on the other hand was wondering why the name Rob Silverwing sounded so familiar.

Not being able to hear the radio to well, the calico cat mechanically turned it up. She was always a radio hog. Not even a minute after she touched the dial, a certain song came on. "I'm drunk... and right now I'm so in love with you..." As fast as the feline turned the music up, she turned it down with a pale face.

Ever since the incident, she couldn't stand to listen to NIC. It pained her, because she loved the music, but every lyric reminded her of that time. "Are you ok?" Nathan was staring at her, looking worried. He knew that song, and by the freaked out look on Acaras face, knew ruined her good mood.

"Fine, I'm fine. Oh! Look!" She looked out the car window. "We're back at my place. Thanks for the food, I'll see you tomorrow!" The feline quickly got out of the car, running to the building and up the stares. The panther just sat there for a few minutes, shaking his head and renewing his vow to beat the crap out of the Weimaraner if he ever came across him.

Acara had a hard time falling asleep that night. She was to excited for the next day, and even though she only heard a few seconds of 'The Only Time' the first lines were going though her mind. She lay in her bed, trying to sort her mind out so that her thoughts made sense. "Stop thinking about it. I just have to stop..." Her voice sounded small, like a scared child's. "Its not that big a deal, really..." She rolled over and faced the empty wall where her old Trent Fuzzner poster used to be. When she had found out she was pregnant, the cat went on a rampage and tore it into pieces. "Stuff like this happens all the time." She had been saying that to herself for the past month, and it really wasn't working.

The calico cat wasn't the only one who couldn't sleep. Nathan was up late also doing some research. Four IM windows blinked at the bottom of his screen, all of them were guys he had sex with in the past. None of them interested the panther at the moment, so he just ignored them. For once, he had something else on his mind. "Here we go," the feline grinned. Leave it to Wikipedia to find what one needed. After reading the webpage for about five minutes, the panther looked very concerned. He didn't care that it was two in the morning. He picked up the phone and quickly dialed a number. "Hunter? I don't care what time it is!" He hissed into the phone, "Listen, we have a huge, huge problem!"

***

Acara sat nervously in her chair as Rob Silverwing looked over her information. "So, why do you want to do tour management?" The dragon asked, staring at the feline in the eyes. "Most people would say they want to be a band manager, or a company executive. This field isn't nearly as popular."

The dragon put her at ease the moment she walked into the office. Acara looked like she was about to have an anxiety attack before her interview. But Rob was very friendly, and that gave her confidence. When he asked this question, she felt even better. "I love traveling," she said with a smile. "I love going to new places, and seeing new cultures. I also would love to work closely with a band, but not be cooped up in an office all day. I didn't even think about doing something like this until I took my Intro to Music Business class. My teacher brought it up, and I just felt it click in my head. It just sounds like the best way to combine all my interests."

The dragon nodded. "I see. Have you done any traveling?" He still did not take his eyes off the cat. It was almost like he was trying to read into her mind.

"I've been to Hawaii a few times," she smiled. "But I studied in Germany last year for a semester. While I was there I went to France and Scandinavia."

Rob arched an eyebrow, "Why did you go all the way up north? You didn't want to see Italy?"

Acara shook her head, "I'm a big metal fan, and a lot of it comes from up there. Also, I wanted to see fjords in Norway. The looked beautiful."

The dragon seemed content with this answer. "Yeah, it's a great place." Rob asked her a few more questions about how she'd react in certain situations. He smiled and nodded as he listened and wrote down some notes on his paper. When he finished his questioning he tapped his pen on the desk and leaned foreword. "I can tell you would be perfect for this, even though you have no prior experience." The feline suddenly lit up at his compliment. "I'd like to give you a chance at the internship."

Acara almost jumped out of her seat in excitement "Really? Oh my god! Thank you so much!" Her tail twitched back and forth quickly and she was practically shaking.

Her reaction caused Rob to laugh. "Here," he handed her a packet with all the details she would need. "I'm going to need you out in LA in two weeks. Your semester ends next week, correct?" Acara nodded. "Ok, great. I'd like to show you some roadie work, since you will be helping out with that also. You're going to have to know the equipment inside and out. I'll introduce you to the band, have you finalize some things with me, and then we'll hit the road!"

Acara looked over the paper, which had all the tour dates, and some information she'd need to know before she got out there. "Europe? This is an international tour?" Things kept getting better, now she'll get to go to some of the places she didn't get a chance too!

"Yup! Europe, and Asia. We might have a New Zealand date also, not sure about that yet." As he said that, the dragon checked his phone, the promoter still had not gotten back to him. "So I'll just need you to sign a few things, and then I'll see you in two weeks!"

After filling out all the forms, Acara said goodbye to Rob and skipped out of the internship office. Never in her entire life had she been this happy! This was her dream! If she did well on this tour, she could have a job lined up when she graduates. She was so absorbed in her thoughts that she didn't notice Hunter waiting for her outside the school. "Acara! Wait!" The otter had to run after the cat to catch up.

The feline didn't except to see her friend here, "Don't you have your naked people drawing class?" She joked. The otter didn't seem amused.

"We need to talk," said Hunter sternly. "Listen, Nathan called me..."

Acara quickly cut her off, "I'm fine! Nathan probably made a big deal out of it. But listen!" The feline was practically screaming, "I got the internship! I'm going to be assistant tour manager! And the tour is in EUROPE!" She was shaking again, "Hunter! This is exactly what I wanted!" She grinned and pat the otter on the head. "I need to get home and call my dad so he can book me a flight to LA! I'll talk to you later!" And before Hunter could get another word out, Acara was half way down the block.

"But... shit!" She hung her head low. Why did Nathan always have her do all the dirty work?

The next two weeks crawled by for Acara. Finals were easy, so she didn't need to study much. She spent most of her time practicing her bass, and studying up on tour management. All of her teachers congratulated her on the internship, and kept saying Rob was amazing at what he did. That was just fuel for the felines fire. She was, however, getting annoyed at Hunter and Nathan. They didn't seem excited for her at all. She figured that maybe they were jealous that she was going over seas again.

Acara was busy getting her things packed up when she heard a knock at her door. "Hello?" She called out. The feline peaked though the door and saw Hunter. "Hey!" She flung the door opened to let the otter in. "How did your critique go?"

"Good." Hunter sat down on the couch, since there wasn't much room anywhere else with all of the felines things thrown everywhere. "Listen, you can't do this internship." The otter looked completely serious when she spoke.

The calico cat turned and looked at her friend, "What the hell crawled up your ass?" She shook her head and continued packing. The feline was leaving in a few days and now the shit was going to hit the fan? Perfect.

"Nathan and I have our reasons, but you won't listen to us!" Hunter growled. "We're worried about you! You only just started getting better and now you're running off by yourself!" The feline was completely ignoring her. The otter sighed. "I just don't what my best friend killing herself!"

Acara growled and turned around, "If I didn't kill myself over getting pregnant and getting used by the musician I idolized, I'm not going to kill myself now! Ok!" Why did Hunter always think she was going to commit suicide? Sure, there was that one time. And that other time. Ok, a few times. But that was in the past. She was better now!

Hunter looked down at the floor, "Can you promise me you won't do anything stupid?" She asked in a dull voice. "That no matter what happens, you won't kill yourself?" The otter was really worried.

The calico cat sat down next to Hunter and put her arm around her shoulder. "I promise I won't try to kill myself, or overdose on pills again." The way the feline spoke these words seemed to calm the otter a bit. She turned around and hugged Acara tightly. "Hey, what's all this for?"

"I go back home tomorrow, so this is the last time I'm going to see you all summer!" The artist sounded close to crying. Acara frowned and hugged back.

"I'll take lots of pictures and send you stuff!" She promised. "Maybe I'll find you a hot guy." This made the otter chuckle slightly. "Really, everything will be ok!" They sat in silence for a few moments before Hunter got up to leave. "I'll see you in September!" Acara gave her friend one last hug goodbye.

Defeated, once she left the feline's apartment, Hunter called up Nathan. "I couldn't do it. She's so happy..."

The panther could be heard growling on the other line, "Well she's not when she gets to LA!"

The otter growled back, "Well then I shouldn't be doing all your dirty work then!" She hung up the phone, not wanting to deal with Nathan. He was just being bitchy since he hadn't been laid in a week. Hunter sighed as she got on the T to go back home. "You better keep your promise Acara," she mumbled.

***

"Crap! Where do I go?" Acara was running around like a chicken without a head at the LA airport. She got off the plane, got her luggage, but had no idea where to go after that. She couldn't remember which entrance Rob would meet her at! She began to panic and the felines fur stood up on end. "What if I don't find him? Shit!" Her head began spinning around wildly trying to find the dragon. She was so preoccupied searching that the cat almost didn't feel the tapping on her shoulder. She spun around and was relieved to see Rob Silverwing smiling at her. "Oh man! Hey! Sorry..."

The dragon laughed, "Its ok, there was traffic and I just got here. Let me take your bag." Rob took Acaras suitcase from her and motioned for her to follow him out his car. "So was your flight good?" He asked with a smile.

The feline nodded. "It was great! I love flying, and I haven't been to the west coast in a wile, so it was cool to fly over the Grand Canyon again." Her tail was swaying back and forth excitedly. Finally, she was here! She got into the front seat of the dark red sports car and sighed, she was so relieved.

Rob started up the car and drove off to the freeway. "So, how about we get you set up in the hotel, I'll pick up your rental car, and then I'll introduce you to the band?"

The feline nodded, "That sounds good! I'm wide awake now!" The three-hour time difference wasn't going to be a big deal to her, and she was wired with excitement. The two made small talk during the short trip to the hotel. It seemed they both really clicked, which was good for Acara. The better impression she made the higher a chance she'll get a job right out of college. It turned out that she and Rob both enjoyed the same movies, books, and music. It almost felt like she was talking to an old friend.

It only took two hours to get her checked into the hotel and get the car. The dragon gave his new assistant some time to rest before he came back to get her. They still had a long day a head of them. Not only did he have to introduce her to the band, but also he had to show her around the company office and start teaching her what she'll be doing. Though Acara said she was feeling fine when he came to pick her up, Rob could see the exhaustion in her eyes.

The practice studio was a ten-minute drive from her hotel. Just enough time for Acara to work up some nerves. What kind of band is it? What will the members be like? Will they even like her? The questions were running though her head as they pulled into the parking lot.

"They'll probably be practicing, so I'll have to make introductions quick. I hope you don't mind." Rob held the building door open for the calico cat as he spoke.

She smiled and shook her head, "No problem! I understand." The silver dragon led her down a maze of hallways and down into the basement of the building. All the rooms were soundproof, so Acara could not tell if there was anyone in them practicing. The trek to the practice room felt like they were crossing the country. "Here we are!" The dragon finally announced. He slid his key in and opened up the door.

At that moment, Acara almost dropped dead. Standing ten feet in front of her was a familiar looking Long Haired Weimaraner wearing fishnets and leather pants.
