#1 of Furry and Proud

A story about an anthropomorphic wolf, named Eddy, who is trying to survive in a world where furries and humans live together. Furries are treated very poorly, leaving the humans to be the more dominant species. This prologue provides a look at the main character, and story-teller, Eddy. It explains his life, opinions, and the kind of person he truly is.

Prologue

Well, to start off, my name is Eddy. It's not really an amazing name, but my mom gave it to me, so it's the only one I got. I'm 16 years old and in pretty good shape if I don't say so myself. I was born in New York. I lived there for a good 11 years then we moved to Chicago. I like to play my guitar and try to sing a little too. I'm not the best singer, but I can still play my guitar pretty good. My life isn't really too complicated. I have a mom and dad, love them both to death, and that's the truth. Although I still think its always funny how they still treat me like I'm that little pup they had to carry through that front door. They're always trying to hide me from this crazy world.

Now I can admit that this world is pretty crazy. Life really isn't a fairy tale for a person like me, or a furry like me. A furry wolf to be exact. I'm not the only one though; there are many other furries in the world, different species too. But that's nothing compared to the humans. Many furries don't like the humans. As for me, I really don't care. It doesn't matter what you are, I can like or hate you. That's what I always say to myself. But, The separation in this world still annoys me.

Although I do find the stupidity to be very funny. People just try so hard to hide the fact that the only reason they don't like me is because I'm a wolf. The lies they come up with always humors me. Some people even say I don't look like the wolves they see in the forest. Okay, well that one does get on my nerves. I understand that there is still, what the humans' call, "regular" animals out in the world, but that's no reason to hate furries.

People are just afraid of things they don't understand. That's what my dad says just to calm me down sometimes. It works...sometimes. The main thing my dad keeps telling me is to be careful with humans. They're not as nice as they seem. All my mom says to do is to always be yourself. It sounds simple enough, but in this story, I found out that it could be one of the hardest things in your life.
