An Eventful Day

I decided to write a piece and submit it here, and to make writing it convenient, I'd write it on my Kindle's Notepad. Color me surprised when I discovered a 2,500 character limit for the notes. Regardless, I figure I'll write the pieces out as they come to me, and add to the work every so often, until it's done. Don't expect it to be kicked out quickly, but I'll try to be consistent. Anyway, to start I'll post the first two pieces.

Brrrrrrriiiing-thwack! Brrrr-thwack thwack! Brrrr-thwump! Chazore sat up and rolled off of his mat. Rubbing his eyes, he strolled down along the tunnel system that made up his home. Well, he called it home anyway. It was the same cave he had lived in his whole life. Coming round to a large cavern, he stripped bare and tumbled into the natural lake that served as his bath. "Whoa-f-b-geeze that is COLD!" He had forgotten to heat the water. "Well, least I'm awake now." He said jokingly, shivering slightly at the cold. He looked down into the now still water, examining the face that looked up at him. He had colbalt blue scales, which varied in size along his body. The biggest, thickest ones were layered over his back and chest, while the ones covering his joints and the arms of his wings were much lighter. A line of spikes started above his forehead and travelled down his back, all the way to the tip of his tail. His eyes were a green-blue with some grey thrown in, and his sclera were black. It was a common enough condition amongst the anthropomorphic dragons to have discolored sclera, though some folk still found it unnerving. Seeing some food from dinner last night lodged in his teeth, Chazore used his dexterous toung to try and reach it. When that attempt failed him, he took a deep breath and sent a gout of explosive flame towards the ceiling, incinerating anything from his throat to the blackend stalactite hanging from the top of the cavern. "Oh well." He yawned, glad that his saliva protected his mouth from the flames, but dissapointed that he couldn't reach the food. Chuckling to himself, he remembered his chemistry lesson from the other day, which was about chemical fires, and how some fire retardants only worked effectively when used in conjunction with a compatible material. Like the inside of his mouth, for example. Giving his teeth one last look over, Chazore slipped out of the lake and went back through the tunnles until he found his den. This was where he kept all his reading material and did his school work. Grabbing his schoolbag, he jogged back to his bed chamber, rewound his clock and dashed to the lip of his cave. With a reckless leap, he revelled in the weightless sensation of falling down the side of the chasm that served as his front door. At the last second, Chazore spread his wing and, in two powerful strokes, began his daily flight to school.

Upon nearing the city, Chazore strained his wings slightly to get above the layer of smog. Only dipping down occasionally to check where he was. "Whoop!" He exclaimed, narrowly avoiding the skyscraper that had just recently been finished. Chaukaluk High was part of a more modern city, though only recently had the subway and a few other, minor modifications been installed. Like that damn skyscraper. If you can imagine the sprawl of a large forest, but far less dense. Chaukaluk city was a fairly good place, crime wasn't too bad, though recently there had been a large outbreak of gang activity. The usual, gangfights, bad grafitti, the occasional petty crime to 'get back' at a rival gang. Generally the gangs left unrelated people alone, and so the citizens learned to stay out of the way of a gang on the move. Flapping his wings a little to stabalize himself, Chazore landed outside the front door of the school. "Hey Chaz!" someone hollered from behind him. Turning, Chazore grinned as he saw a sand brown lizard walking up towards him. "Hey Justin! Still rockin those skinny jeans I see." Lately, Chazore's friend Justin had taken to wearing skinny jeans and had gotten his lip pierced. "Hell yeah man, I can't believe you still insist on the baggy jeans look." "Hey, I keep my pants up. Besides, my legs don't exactly fit in skinny jeans anyway." Chazore's legs were digitigrade, which was becoming increasingly uncommon. Chazore's friend Justin, was one of those who had 'two bone' legs as they were reffered to by the general public and so fit better into the tight jeans. "Hah, that's no excuse!" Justin chuckled, slugging Chazore on the arm. It was then that the bell rang out the five minute warning. "Ah! Gotta go, don't want to be late!" Chazore said as he turned toward the staircase. "Ya got five minutes! Stick around, you won't be late!" "Heck no man, I can't stand wasting time when I have somewhere to be!" and just like that he was gone, taking the stairs five at a time, using his wings for a little boost. As it turned out, Chazore really did have plenty of time. Most of the class was outside the room, waiting for the teacher to get there. Slowing as he neared the classroom, Chazor spotted the back of a mongoose's fuzzy head with some headphones in. Recognizing the markings, Chazore grinned and slinked up behind her, pouncing on her at the last second and hollering, "Kerry~!" Chazore's girlfriend turned, only to be hug/tackled to the ground.
