I woke up this morning with the...urge to write. Something I haven't done in almost 6 years now. Well, anyway. I typed this out. Its only a single chapter in what I hope will become a story series.

Bruno is one of my favorite RP Characters, and, its kind of fun to put him in a situation where he has to question his family, and his memories. He already stands on his own, but he still lives, willingly, in the shadow of his dads memory, no one else sees it, but him. Maybe he can be a better man then his dad was.

Maybe its just Thanksgiving biting me in the ass, I dunno, but, here ya go.

There will be smut, eventually, but, not yet.

Also, no, there will not be Rhino incest. :p Perverts.

When he heard the knock at the door, he wasn't sure what to think. He wasn't expecting any company, the mail had already been brought up. There was nothing he'd ordered online recently. The Rhino was quite confused when he walked to the door.

When he opened it, the Rhino tilted his head, and saw another Rhino, albeit, younger then himself. The younger male put his hand out, offering to shake hands. Bruno took a moment to look him over. Short brown hair, about a foot shorter then himself, no beard, and carrying a backpack, so the guy was definitely younger, probably still in high school, if the older Rhino had to guess.

The younger man announced himself, once Bruno had took his hand to shake. "My name is Rock Adamant, and, I think I'm your son."

Bruno was, taken aback by this, he looked confused, very confused. He had, in his youth, visited a sperm bank, and made a few donations. If the off chance he ever wanted to actually father a kid with a lady, without having to do the deed himself. But, this kid was too old to be his son, it hadn't even been ten years since he'd done that.

The younger Rhino, nervously asked if he could come in. Bruno, still in a bit of shock, just nodded his head and stepped aside. The younger Rhino came inside and set himself down on the couch, looking around the large penthouse apartment.

Rock got himself comfortable, and the older Rhino came to sit beside the younger. He did look like him, younger, of course, and the hair color was wrong, but still, the resemblance was astounding. "Where have you been? Who is your mom? I...I dunno if I am your dad, I think you are too old to be my kid, it hasn't been that long since I was at the sperm bank, and unless you time travelled..."

The younger Rhino just smiles. "Well, I dunno if you are either, honestly." Rock looked into Bruno's eyes with a soft shrug. "My mom passed away last week, and she told me that my dads name was Adamant. I did a google search, and, well a few names came up, but, you are the only other Rhino, so, I thought perhaps you might've been my dad." He smiles shyly, and looks at the older Rhino again. "If I'm not your son, I might be your brother, were is your dad, I could.."

But, before he could finish his sentence, Bruno spoke up, almost somberly. "He passed away almost a decade ago. Car accident, he and my mom both were killed." The older Rhino looks down at the floor, even though it had been quite some time, obviously the memory of it weighed heavily on him, and he wasn't eager to talk about it.

Rock nodded his head slowly, looking down as well. "Oh...I...I'm sorry. Well, could we get a paternity test?" The younger male asked as he looked back up to Bruno. "If I'm not related, I can move along and try to find my dad somewhere else, at least I'd be out of your hair. My mom left me a pretty decent nest egg, so, I can pay for it, if money is a problem."

Bruno laughed at that, and shook his head. "Nah, thats not a problem. I'll have my friend order one. Until we know, I guess you can stay in our guest room." He stood up and walks through the living area. Around the massive tv, almost as tall as the older Rhino, which was nothing to scoff at. He was 8'4, 8'6 if you counted his horn which was higher then his eartips.

The living room was quite spacious, a large C shaped couch around a glass coffee table. The TV further past the coffee table. Behind the couch was a single step up, which went from wall to wall. And led to a dining area on the side closest to the windows, while the other side, nearest the actual wall was a kitchen area. A nice stove, large refrigerator, and a little island of a bartop, complete with barstools, for those mornings you just wanted a quick breakfast, most likely.

There were two doors, past the kitchen and dining area, but, Bruno was heading around behind the TV, to another door somewhat hidden from normal view. "Ths is the guest room. I don't usually have guests. So, its not used all that much, but, you are welcome to use it." He smiles as he led the younger Rhino around.

Though, in his head, he figured the younger Rhino was just trying to get a free hand out from him, but, if he was the guys dad, or brother, he felt he had an obligation to help him. But, the nagging thought that his dad cheated on his mom weighed heavily on him. He always looked up to his father and, he couldn't imagine his dad doing something like that, not ever.

Those thoughts were soon put aside, when the younger Rhino asked him when they might eat. Bruno just chuckled softly, and smiled. "Well, I'll ask Berry to whip something up, I dunno what you like, so, you'll have to talk to him about what kinds of things you enjoy eating. I don't have work for the next week or so either, we finished our project at work early, so, I've got time off."

Rock smiled cheerfully at that. "Where do you work? The website I found said you were the CEO of Adamant Construction, right?"

Bruno nodded his head and smiled. "Yeah, Dads old company, I brought it into the 21st century and made it into the booming success it is. Dad was a great man, but, he didn't have a good head for business." The older Rhino smiles softly, thinking back of memories of his dad coming home from work, wearing his sweaty shirt proudly, and earning a hard days pay. Bruno was alot like his father, in fact.

His father never liked wearing a suit, and instead worked on the jobsite. Something Bruno himself preferred. He let the board do most of the work, and he kept the majority of shares, always on his side, so anything they decided had to be passed by him. He kept his interets safe, and his company secure as well, it was his from the ground up and no one would take it from him.

Rock nodded his head at that. "He must have been an incredible guy, for you to think so highly of him." Bruno blinked a moment, coming out of his reverie and chuckles lightly.

"More then you can imagine. It was all thanks to him that I am the man I am. I owe him everything, so I have to live up to his legacy, and make everything better that he left behind. I dunno if we are related, but, if we are, I'll help you out. But you aren't getting any free hand outs. You will start working at Adamant Construction when we start up, you'll pay rent, buy your own food, clothes, everything you need. Got it?"

The younger Rhino blinked in surprise, but nodded his head lightly. "Yes sir."

Bruno just smiled at that and patted the younger mans shoulder. "I'm gonna go talk to Berry, he might be up by now. Tell him we have a new guest, he's the Bear you'll be meeting a little later." The younger Rhino just nods his head slowly as the older man leaves the room.

Rock, not sure of what to do with himself at the moment, simply went about unpacking what few things he had. There was his five pairs of clothing that he'd managed to pack into his old book bag. A few simple things, toothbrush, deoderant, toothpaste. He had his DSi and a few games too. Once everything was put away, he kicked his shoes off and laid back on the bed, pulling out his DS and playing some Mario. There wasn't much else to do.

He probably stayed like this for awhile, since, he fell asleep with the DS laid on his chest. The older Rhino peeked in, seeing the younger male sleeping, he just smirked to himself, before quitely leaving the room.

Bruno came to sit at the bartop, looking at Berry. "I dunno what to do. I mean, its possible he could be my little brother, but, my dad wasn't that kind of man...was he?" Bruno looks down between his hands, deep in thought. "Was the man I knew, just a facade, did he even love mom. I know they had their problems, especially as I got older. They fought more and more, but, I always thought at the core, they loved each other."

Berry, a stout brown bear, turned from his place on the other side of the bartop, he was cooking some eggs and bacon for the younger Rhino. "Maybe they did still love each other, but those problems led to them opening their relationship. You can't expect them to have told you every detail of their lives, you were still a calf. You were barely a teenager when they passed away Bruno. They could've been swingers, for all you know." The bear shrugged his shoulders.

Bruno, felt his face get heated and his hands clench up. He'd never heard anyone speak such a way to him about his family, and he wanted to knock the Bears lights out, but, as much as he was mad about the Bear saying it, what stung worse, was that Berry, could have been right, what if his dad and mom were like that. After everything he'd been through, all the trials and problems he'd faced alone since they passed, could he still love and respect them if it was true. "You have a point Berry. I...don't really know who they were when I was young, I hate admitting it. If I've been wrong about them all these years, I dunno if I can visit their graves anymore. I respected them, for staying true to one another, dad always told me, loyalty was the most important thing you could give to someone. What if he was a hypocrite?"

Berry shook his head, turning back to the food with a chuckle. "Whether your dad was a hypocrite, or not. Doesn't change who you are. Your dad laid the path out for you. Did you think that perhaps he gave you those words of wisdom, because he didn't want to see you make the same mistakes? What if he'd screwed up, and saw how it damaged his marriage. Then, saw you, and gave you the advice he should have followed from the start. His mistakes, made you a better man. That doesn't make him a hypocrite Bruno, that makes him a good father."

Bruno looked at Berry, something about this Bear, no matter what foul mood he was in, or dilemma he faced, this guy always had the right thing to say. Berry was sort of like a surrogate dad to him. "You remind me of him." Bruno finally spoke up. "He always knew the right thing to say too." Bruno smiled gently. "I'm gonna go wake up our sleeping beauty." Bruno got up from the stool and walked through the living room, knocking on the door, before coming in. "Rock, are you decent?"

Rock, jumped from the knock at the door, his eyes shooting open as he looked around, trying to figure out where he was, once the surroundings were familiar, he piped up. "Yeah, sorry. I must have fell asleep." Rock set his gaming system aside and got up, walking over to the door and opening it, smiling just a bit as he looked at the older Rhino. "Sorry, I must've been a little more worn out then I thought, is, um, breakfast ready?"

Bruno chuckles. "Well, technically, its almost three in the afternoon, but, I had Berry cook some eggs and bacon, figured you'd be okay with that. If not, we got some cereal and I think we still have pop-tarts too." He chuckled lightly as he moved aside, allowing the younger Rhino come out of the room and head into the kitchen area for some food.

The meal was good, and Rock ate more then either of the older men expected. They didn't talk much while they watched Rock eat. It wasn't until 'Breakfast' was finished that Rock finally spoke up. "Thank you, Bruno, and Mister Berry. I really appreciate you guys being so nice to me. My ma always told me that kindness should be repayed with kindness, so, um, I'd like to at least wash the dishes, if you both don't mind."

The Bear smiled and shook his head. "That would be fine with me, I actually have some work I need to finish up. I have to get the last shots from last nights movie put together."

Rock tilted his head, but nodded with a smile. Berry disappeared into one of the rooms Rock hadn't seen yet, and closed the door. He then turned to Bruno as he started the water and dish soap, creating a nice bubbly mess in one side of the sink. "Does he make movies?"

Bruno, didn't often blush, but he felt his cheeks redden just a twinge. "Yeah, sorta. He helps me run a movie business, and we produce movies and sell them online, its uh, mostly independant movies though." He smiled nervously as he looked to the younger male.

Rock, seemingly satisfied with the answer nodded his head and went to work cleaning the dishes, nothing spoken between them for awhile. "Do you have a girlfriend?" The younger Rhino spoke up as he put the last of the dishes in the drainer, taking a towel to dry his hands as he looked to the older male.

Bruno shook his head and chuckled. "Nah, I could never maintain a relationship, I've tried a few times, but, it never ends well. Ya know?" He smiles and looks between his hands. "What about you kid, got a girlfriend or anything?"

Rock shook his head. "I tried too. Mom always encouraged me, I tried out for sports and asked a cheerleader out, she laughed at me." He shrugs his shoulders. "I figured I'd wait till I was a bit older and try again. Get my life straight, ya know?"

The older rhino smiled and nodded his head. "Yeah, I can understand that. Relationships get messy sometimes." He smiles, one of his hands coming to touch the golden band around one finger.

Rock, having noticed the ring earlier, spoke up. "I only ask, cause, you have the ring. Ex-wife?"

Bruno looks up from his haze of memories, and smiles. "Not really, but, someone important gave this to me, before they passed away. I've kept it with me ever since. I guess I just can't let go of the past, ya know?" He smiles briefly. "Reminds me of better days."
