Outside The Walls chapter 2

James.........
I step off the school bus to see my dad getting into his car, I walk up to him and dad says "Hi, I am sorry but I have to go on a business trip for a while, I have to leave or I'll miss the helicopter ride out. Listen stay out of trouble while I am gone ok. Bye!" He says while the car door closes, I move out of the way as the engine starts; as he is backing up out of the driveway he waves goodbye.
I watch as the car drives down the street and out of site, I turn around and walk up to the house excited for the camping trip. When I get into my house I go to my room to pack, I pull out a camouflage tent my dad used for hunting, and a back pack. I grab some clothes and a hat from my dresser; then off I go to the kitchen to get some food and a lighter. I pack all of it into my back pack, it is now about 4:30 and Zach should be here within the next hour.
Zach.........
I am almost to James's house and I can see that there is no car parked in the driveway, that means James is alone. I get up to the walkway and it is about 5:00 and it is getting dark out, I stop at the door and ring the door bell. A few seconds later the door opens and James sees me and I ask him "Are you ready to go?" He then responds "Yes, but we have to wait until it is completely dark out, or risk being caught by someone walking by."
We waited about an hour then James says "OK lets go, it is a long walk to the hole, I want to set up camp as soon as possible so I can sleep." I ask "Why did you dig the hole so far from your house?" James replies "So my dad doesn't come across it."
I reply "OK, good idea, lets go." I get up and put my back pack on and carry the quiver and bow. I look over and see James putting on his back pack while walking to the door. I follow him out of his house and close the door.
We start walking down the street trying not to make noise in fear people might ask what we are doing. We get to a road with no houses or street lights, James looks at me and says "I know a short cut through that park. Follow me." I do as he says and I follow him.
The trip to the wall was long and quiet, we cross a road and James says "Keep low behind the bushes, the army does security rounds of the wall to make sure the Anthros don't get through." I reply as I duck down behind a bush "OK, I will." we keep jumping behind bushes until we come up to a large one. James points to a bush next to the wall and says "There it is, our way out." James pushes the bush away that was recently pulled out of the ground, and says "You first." I nod as I take my back pack off and put the bow and quiver on my shoulder.
The hole is going under the wall and is big enough for me to go through, I lay on the ground and crawl with my back pack in front of me, I go through the hole with no problem. James goes through feet first to put the bush back where it was, he gets out of the hole with his stuff in tow.
James stands up and dusts off his shirt and says "lets find a place to set up camp." I say "OK." And I take out my flashlight and turn it on. We walk further into the forest trying to find a place to set up camp, as we walk we hear the bushes rustling, we dismiss it as the wind and continue on.
Meanwhile in the bush.......
(Thinking only) "FUCKING SQUIREL, jumped on my foot and ran off, It is all i could do to stop myself from jumping around screaming." Thought Nick (A jaguar Anthro). As he got up to investigate the area the two humans came from. Because he has excellent night vision he does not need a flashlight, he got to the area and saw a hole leading under the wall. He thinks to himself as he uses his claw to scratch a arrow pointing at the hole "Now to go tell my squad leader what I found."
Nick got up and quietly walked back to his leaders. As he walked back he saw the humans had made camp in a small clearing, he walks up to the tent and hears snoring. He reaches in and takes their back packs, and leaves the camp site.
In the morning (Zach).........
As I wake up I notice our book bags are gone, I turned to James and pushed on him to wake him up, when he wakes up I ask "Where did you put our stuff?" James says "At the door. Why?" I reply by saying "They are gone." James sits up and yells "Fuck, at least we have the weapons." I get out of my sleeping bag and hand James the combat knife and I take the bow and quiver of arrows.
We step outside and hear the sound of an alarm going off behind the wall, signalling the town is under attack. We run to the hole under the wall and see scratch marks in the dirt from claws. James looks as scared as I am, we both know what we have done. We are the cause of the attack. We decide to walk back to our campsite, when we got back James looks stressed out and says "I dug that hole, it is my fault our home is under attack by those beasts."
I kept quiet while James cried, I decide to go for a walk to think, so I grabbed my bow and quiver of arrows and left. I don't know how long I was gone but when I got back James was snoring away, so I sat outside the tent to keep guard. Hours passed and the alarms stopped, I got worried so I woke James up and I said "The alarms stopped, if the Anthros are still alive they might come this way." James didn't say anything but got up and stood outside the tent with me.
I heard something coming our way so I got the bow ready to fire an arrow, I saw movement in a bush so I kept the bow on the movement. The movement stopped, I was getting nervous of if something was going to jump out at me. James had the knife out ready too, The movement started again and it made me accidentally let the string go, it was like slow motion, the arrow flew into the bush and I heard a thud and what sounded like a cat in pain. I was shocked as an Anthro Jaguar fell to it's side in pain holding it's knee, the arrow went into the knee just below the knee cap. James looked at me in shock, I said to James "I did not mean to hit anything, it just scared me when it moved." James was talking but I did not hear what he was saying.
The next minute it was like I was not controlling my body, I walked up to the Jaguar, when I got to the Jaguar he looked up at me and he said "Please don't kill me." I replied "I am not going to kill you, I wanted to say...." I was interrupted by a wolf tackling me to the ground choking me. The Jaguar was being helped by other wolves, I was able to move the wolves hands off my throat enough to yell to the Jaguar "I'm sorry for hurting you." The wolf pushed down on his hands more and my hands were about to give out, when the wolves helping the Jaguar started yelling at the wolf choking me, I look up to blood spraying from the wolf's chest. My knife was in the wolf's chest and James pushed the wolf off of me.
