#1 of Lion's Heart

This is that new story, a small taste of what is to come from it. Hope it is enough to gain some fans wanting to read more.

As a side note, if it helps with some future things with these lions. Think Disney Lion's King rather than actual feral lion. Such as the movement and sentient thoughts. To me it just helps to understand a bit better.

The savannah rested peacefully as the sun began to rise over the horizon, the shadows begin chased off to let way to a new day over the lands. It would be with this new day that creatures began to stir, the most prominent would be the three lionesses as they sprinted across the land toward a large tree line that rested around prominent stone ridge. The three feral lions quickly moved through the trees, darting left and right to avoid every branch before quickly running toward the base of the large stones. The gigantic rocks resting against one another at the peaks, creating a tent like structure where shade cooled the ground, keeping those that dwelled within safe from the blazing sun.

The three lions jumped over other feral and Anthro lionesses as they darted between the two large rocks, quickly moving down into a cave that had been dug into the earth. The three lionesses shifted through the cave with a desperate speed till they came to a large open cavern that resided directly under the two large stones above ground. Light broke in from large holes within the ceiling, sunlight shining down onto dozens of lionesses from cub to adult. Most lazed about with the morning sleep still clinging to them, yet the three that had rushed into the cavern paid attention to only one other lion. A feral who sat with a small group of Anthro lionesses, her pelt was a darker rich brown, slightly unique to the brighter golden color most other lionesses proudly had. It seemed to draw the three toward her with a swiftness as they quickly skidded to a halt, claws digging into the earth as they quickly came to a stop.

The brown lion would give full attention to the three huffing lions, each clearly tired from that long sprint from the open pride land. It took only a moment before the lead lioness attempted to pant out struggled words,

"Akilla...we...we have..." the darker lioness moving to stand, "Catch your breath Eilli" the younger golden lion giving a nod as the darker female Akilla sat before the three panting females.

It took only a few more moments before the lead lioness finally caught her breath, "Akilla, we have a male on the border of King's land." Akilla upon hearing this fanned her ears back; she took a moment to glace toward a large pillar of light that was beaming down from the largest hole toward the far wall of the cavern. Seeing a large slumbering male resting his head upon a feral lioness while having several others held close to him, using them to keep himself warm it would seem.

Akilla turned back, giving a nod of her head before slipping out of the cavern with the three feral and two Anthro lionesses. From the cavern they dashed into the pride land, the three ferals in the lean with the two anthro behind, Akilla remaining in the middle with a concern look upon her muzzled face. It took several minutes of non-stop sprinting before the females slowed to a steady run, the image of a male lion's mane coming into the view of the female lions.

As they neared Akilla would take the lead of the small group of lions, her golden eyes would narrow as she slunk down into a prowling crawl, each female behind her taking a similar stance. "Either he is stupid or he doesn't realize that this is King's pride land. Before King tears him apart let us see if we can save the young male."

He words were soft as they crept ever closer to the male who appeared to have his back to them. The male shifted about every few moments showing that he was indeed alive, a dark black mane resting around his neck, arms protruding out showing him as an anthro male. As the females crept closer and closer the male would finally lift his head slowly,

"You took your time in getting here, I could have been half way into your land by now." The male giving out a soft chuckle as his right arm pulled sharply away from his head, showing a large hunk of meat resting within his paw, the sound of chewing on raw flesh sounding out.

Akilla stood now with the others, none of the females trying to hide themselves anymore. "Yes, you could have. But by then King would have known you were here and would have come out personally to deal with you. Since you remained here on the edge of our lands I can only guess that you know who's pride you risk trespassing on."

The male shifted his head, his mane moving up and down showing that he nodded before slowly moving to stand on his two legs. At full height however he didn't even stand as tall as the female anthros, "I know where I am and I know whose pride land this is."

The female lions would glance back and forth to one another before shifting eyes toward the male, each seeming to show a concern about this male, as if he were not right in the head. Akilla however only narrowed her golden eyes, "If you know all this, then why are you here?" She lowered her head slightly, her legs visibly tensing as she readied to jump at the male who still held his back to them.

With a slow turn of his head the male seemed to glance over his shoulder at the females, it would be then that his left paw slipped up, fingers slipping into his mouth. At this moment all of the females expressions slipped into that of full confusion as the males thumb slipped between the fangs of his upper jaw before slowly pushing up; slowly he pulled his mouth open only to push his upper jaw farther than natural to show something that shocked all. The face of a human would appear as the skull of the lion pelt was pushed up over the human's, the mock lion human turning to face the small pack of females with a small smirk resting upon his lips. The females all stared in shock as this human stared back at them, his pale furless flesh being wrapped in the pelt of an anthro lion. The front of his body remained exposed as were his feet, his face and exposed body showed several scars that were clearly from claws and fangs that belonged to nothing other than a lion.

Brown messily chopped hair resided on the top of his head while gold piercing eyes stared into the golden eyes of Akilla, "I was thinking of challenging King for his pride land..." the human would approach the females who were still left in shock. The human stopped when he was within arm's reach of Akilla, his smirk turning into that of a loving smile, "But I wanted to see you first, Mother."
