A sliver of light appeared in the floating darkness and began to drain fluid away from his body. Whatever he had been inside gushed its contents forth, streaming a clear, gelling fluid from the wound made on it.

He was too weak at this stage to fight and tear his way free from the pod. All he could do was raise his hand towards the slit and let them know he was still alive. In response, a gloved hand seized his wrist and started to pull him free. The barbed things embedded in his fur and skin reluctantly released him as he gracelessly stumbled forward. His first breath was a rattling, choking return to normal oxygenation after hours inside the sustaining fluids.

The last of his strength failed him as he looked up at his rescuers. Hope had never completely deserted him when he was taken captive, then trapped inside there. There was concern on all their faces. Miranda couldn't look at him, hiding her expression behind those bulky gloves of the environmental suit.

He tried to form the words to ask what was wrong. They sounded slurred and pitched higher than his normal voice. He had just enough left in him to realize the concern he had read in their faces was shock. Then the world went dark again.

***

'Rick? Can you hear me?'

The world still looked blurry as he opened his eyes slowly to the sight of the ship's doctor looming over him. The cougar sighed as he watched his patient stir.

Ricky watched the white lab coat sweep across the room to prepare an injection. Something inside him flinched at the sight of its glinting needle. His rasping breath was softer now.

'How long was....'

Dr Xander tapped the injection. 'Twenty hours between separation from your team and retrieval. You gave us all a scare.'

Only a day. Not even a full twenty four. The last thing he could remember was plunging through a rock shelf that was less solid then it seemed. Something breached his PICS and the oxygen rushed out with consciousness following.

It hadn't returned until they got him out of there.

'Data from the Pressurised Individual Containment Suit confirms you had a major atmosphere loss. You're lucky to be alive.'

The rabbit didn't feel lucky. Luck would have been the PICS sealing mechanism working as they were all promised. Something had preserved him inside that pod before the last breath was sucked from his lungs.

'I'm telling you this because the alternative to whatever happened to you was your not coming back at all.'

His body felt strange now that he was awake. Alertness sang through every nerve. His taught muscles were tensed for a threat that wasn't coming.

The ship's medic continued. 'Whatever this is, I'm sure it can be reversed through gene therapy or a custom retrovirus. You're going to be okay.' He would not go as far as touching his patient to reassure him.

It was such an understanding smile it unnerved Ricky. Something was not right. His body was not right as he looked down at his hands for the first time. His lovely chestnut fur was gone. Smooth slickness ending in razors was there instead.

The cry of surprise from him was an utterly alien vocalization that made Xander flinch. Rick felt as though the noise had come from outside of his body. The cougar pressed his hand against his face for a moment, feeling a pulse at his temples like an oncoming migrane. He held on to the examination table's edge to keep upright.

The former rabbit flexed his fingers, noticing the way the curving claws and segmented chitin blended into the slick flesh. Where transformed, his body was smooth and sleek. Even the tongue in his mouth felt somehow changed as it roamed his maw. The fleshy muscle was longer now, with room to move and tell him his teeth were gone. Probing with it, he realized that in place of other oral fixtures like his gums, there was a soft spongelike tissue perforated with small holes.

Every new discovery about his own body made Rick's dread grow. He hadn't even chance to see what his face looked like. His friends had been more horrified with the rabbit's transformation than relieved to have him back.

'Please....show me a mirror.' The wavering voice whined the request. His tongue could only produce that unnatural tone with difficulty.

Xander backed away from Rick's exam table as the rabbit rose. 'That isn't a good idea, Rick. You've been through a lot and I'd prescribe some rest. You don't want another shock at this moment.'

The rabbit's lidless eyes lit upon the ship's only medical personnel with the eerie stare of dozens of compound lenses 'Xander, I need to see.....' he hissed sadly.

'It's for your own good! Sit down or I'll use the restraints, Rick.' The cougar wore a labcoat for his position's sake, but he was as much of a scrapper as any member of the comber ship's crew.

His patient was slight and wiry before his ordeal in the pod. The new version seemed more frail, almost delicate in his slender body. Xander lunged to pin him against the table, reacting too slowly to the swift pressure against his Adam's apple.

Rick had moved without thinking, reaching under the clumsy grab by the cougar and putting those glossy fingers at his throat. He pulled Xander's head forward, lowering his face to the back of the doctor's skull.

The next action was a new instinct. The rabbit opened his mouth, his tongue pistoning out with alien force. The touch was new to Xander, who quickly discovered the sensation of something writhing under his fur and lapping at the bony endocranium. Pressure was building there, with probing growing in strength as the cougar cried out in terror. The intrusion was too intimate for him to struggle fiercely, whimpering as he felt the tongue puncture bone.

It was out of Rick's control now. He recognized what hunger felt like, even if it had never taken this form. The rabbit didn't know why his tongue would seek out the soft, fatty flesh of the cougar's brain, but reveled in the taste as the lamprey tongue breached the last barrier to that organ.

'My own good....Xander..'

The sensation was mercifully dulled by enzymes carried on the tongue's fluids. Only a quibbling amount of the gray matter was pulled up through the suction action of the rabbit's mouthparts. The species fed modestly, consuming only the least essential morsels of brain tissue.

Rick could taste the sweetness of the jellied protein and lipids. There was a richness in savoring the salt tinged water that comprised so much of the matter. Stopping never occured to him, even as Xander's body quaked weakly in his grasp.

The bigger surprise was how quickly the changed rabbit felt sated. What his tongue bored into and liquified was only a titbit, merely five percent of the doctor's mind was gone to nourish him. Rick wondered how to withdraw from the cougar's skull now that his feeding was through.

His body was prepared for that, but not yet. Instead, the choking gasp returned to his breathing. Rick clawed at his chest, where the transformation had not overcome him completely and felt the warm fur against his sharp claws. Peristaltic pressure moved something from behind where his sternum used to be, slowly. It burned before it reached his throat and a structure more prepared to coax it along.

The object received a thick coating of the same fatty lipids he had just taken in. That protective layer smoothed the way as it was drawn up another channel in his strange tongue. Its slow progress leading inexorably to where Rick was still embedded.

Xander's abused brain was near senseless by now, not yet recovered from the impromptu lobotomy. To make sense of feeling something being pushed back through the smooth orifice the tongue had drilled through his skull was beyond him completely. The cougar felt tremendous pressure as the solid body ended up nestled into the folds of his brain. Its coating worn away by the journey through the rabbit's proboscis.

With the task completed, Rick's tongue withdrew from Xander's head. The fur where it had writhed its way inside was matted and the blood had already clotted. Like a leech's kiss, his saliva promoted quick healing after such a violation.

It was a meaningless comfort to the cougar. His head lay now on the rabbit's lap as the foreign object came alive inside his skull. In truth, it was a seed. A cluster of hardy tissue that sprouted tendriling dendrites that quickly grew into the surrounding brain. Excising it would be impossible once the matter around it healed.

The doctor spasmed lightly as Rick slowly stroked at his face with the chitin fingers of his new body. His cock throbbed as the parasitic brain seed insinuated itself into his mind's pleasure centres. It consumed everything he was. Every fragment of memory and scrap of knowledge became part of the brain seed's resources. Xander was vaguely aware tendrils continued to root deeper into the other areas of his brain, but a wave of orgasms overwhelmed any thought about them. The cougar's pants were soaked with semen as climaxes rocked his body while the invasion continued.

Rick continued to stroke the cougar's ears as he went totally limp. His mind shut down completely for a few seconds as control passed to the parasite. When he moved again, Xander looked up at the rabbit with an adoring smile and dead eyes.

'We have this drone,' asserted the brain seed inside Xander.

The rabbit's knowledge was incomplete and instinctual. He had been ripped from the pod before his transformation entered its last stages. He carried out the desires of his changed body without knowing why they served a purpose.

'What are you doing to him?,' he asked. The puppet cougar calmly stood and removed his stained pants and underwear. His thick cock drooled long strings of milky come onto the tiled floor of the medical bay.

'Our seed has taken control. Miranda. Bayer. Rhodes. We will secure their implantation.' Xander's voice announced the plan to infest their friends without emotion as he retrieved clean clothing from the wall locker.

It sounded right. The rabbit knew this was not him. Something had begun corrupting him inside the pod, pumped into his body as surely as the fluids that made him into this creature. He had just turned his friend into this parasite's drone. Letting this new side of him win felt good.

The cougar host buttoned up his clothing and sat behind the medical officer's desk again. The brain seed used his body to reach for the intercom.

'Good news, Bayer! Rick's going to be okay. I'm already isolating the changes to his genetic code and by comparing them to the last scan I got during his physical, we should be able to reverse this stuff.' The words rang out with the proper emotion registering. Only the rabbit watching Xander could see how his knowledge was being used to lower their guard.

'Why don't you come down and see him? He's resting, but I know it'd do him a lot of good to see his friends when he wakes up. Okay. See you soon.'

The parasite lifted the cougar's finger off the button and broke the connection.

'We will restrain and implant these two while Rhodes continues piloting.'

Xander rose from his seat, laying out a pair of injectors on an instrument tray. The rabbit moved to the rest bed, arranging a few of the medical contacts on his body for appearance's sake.

The keypad door opened as the goat and female ferret came to see him. Miranda had been the one to insist they follow the PICS beacon after he fell hundreds of feet, thinking they'd find the broken rabbit at the bottom of that cavern. She shuddered looking over him now. So much of his body was under polished, black chitin that flexed when he breathed. The banded segments were like plates of armor along his arms and legs, meshing with glossy skin the color of oil pools. His fingers ended in long talons that glinted dangerously under the infirmary's garish lights.

His mouth and face were not spared either. She hadn't seen him blink since he was rescued. The many blue lenses that made up his eyes now were in two clusters on either side of his face, sunk into more of the gleaming black skin. His mouth reminded her of the lamprey, with a sucking ring in place of his lips.

'Is he going to stay like this?' she asked. The cougar doctor took a syringe from the tray as she inspected Rick.

'He'll be fine. We are all fine.' Xander grabbed Bayer by one of the short horns on his head, plunging the injector into his neck. The goat was paralyzed by this sudden attack and collapsed to the floor.

The ferret put herself between the doctor and Rick's bed, trying to protect the vulnerable rabbit. 'What's the matter with you?!'

Rick rose from his feigned resting and grabbed her from behind. One arm tightly around her front and the other lockbar against her windpipe. The ferret struggled, kicking and trying to slam her elbow back against the rabbit. It did nothing against his hardened partial carapace. Miranda tried to breathe, but air didn't get through. Xander settled the matter by bringing the injector to her neck. She joined Bayer on the floor.

The drone cougar turned him over, leaving him face up. Fed on Xander's mind, the brain seed found the tattooed goat attractive. The ripe musk of his body was evident as he was shorn of his work clothes. Bayer worked hard and sweat clung to his fur under the overalls. The limp goat had only his underwear and shirt left as the feline tore the rest off. Then he sat on the goat, grinding against the crotch of the unconscious space laborer. The constant rocking pressure woke him enough, bringing tumescence back to his heavy endowment. The parasite in Xander's brain slowed the cougar's pace as he unbuckled his pants and pulled down his underwear, next freeing Bayer's cock from its cloth confines.

It stood in the air, swollen with the cougar's stimulation. Then the feline grabbed it, pressing it against his cheeks and sliding it against his ass to wake the goat's cock further. His hand smearing the first gob of pre over the head before he raised his body on those hips and worked Bayer's thickness into his ass. The goat's body used for pleasure as he lay sedated into unconsciousness.

As a drone for the brain seed, Xander only cared about achieving enough stimulation to achieve the expulsion of genetic material. He fucked himself on the goat's shaft, harder. Driving its considerable length into his inexperienced hole. The cougar's cock throbbed and came with the next thrust back against his living toy. He felt full with the rough goat's seed inside him, painting his own all over Bayer's chest as his shallow breath moved it.

He remained still and frozen over the goat's body, that cock still deep in him. A shivery feeling in his chest that started near his diaphragm. The feline shuddered. Something was welling up inside him. He coughed to clear his throat, but found it still putting pressure on his insides. Competing with his organs for room as it writhed and rose.

Xander opened his mouth wide to scream, feeling pinpricks in his neck. A gurgle left instead of his voice, with a tickle at the back of his throat. He was gagging on it, something thick and gelatinous that clogged his breathing.

The drone of the brain seed would not be allowed to waste this gift. He brought his mouth down to the goat and opened the prone Bayer's lips. Putting them to his, he finally felt it begin to slide out of his airway.

His merciful unconsciouness meant Bayer never experienced the squirming length in their mouths that connected them both. It entered his body as a black, textured mass of dense goo. It slid against his tongue as it slid into the new body waiting. There was no chance to resist its intrusion. Xander drone was rewarded with another sudden climax when the implantation was complete. The next time Bayer opened his eyes, he would not be looking through them alone.

Rick had left the cougar and his prey, dragging Miranda through the otherwise empty ship to his own cabin. Rhodes would be too preoccupied with the comber's course to leave the pilot's hold.

The sedated ferret looked peaceful as he arranged her on the bed. She was as hard and tough as the rest of the crew, but her gender determined her as the most important one to capture.

The changed rabbit had felt a new instinct after shoving his tongue into Xander's brain. He needed to build. His purpose was to construct something essential to the new nature inside him. Rick realized the key to a greater expansion of the new species he had propagated with the seeding of Xander's brain and the oral parasite for Bayer lay with converting Miranda.

He hadn't looked to see what the experience inside the pod had done to his equipment. It seemed modestly larger, but changed in shape. The shaft and cockhead seemed tapered and flared to a wide head. His new organ ached for release and he found it oozing a dark, clear slime. It became dry after moments on his fingers as he realized its purpose.

Rick stroked his alien length, letting it drip over the ferret's body. He gushed slightly more with every tug on his cock, and it trickled steadily onto her. Her arm was nearly covered as the flow increased. He coated her limbs with the polluting slime and watched it harden and dry. Miranda stirred, but the sedative injected by the doctor was too strong. The rabbit hybrid worked his tool faster, pouring the wet cocoon strands over her face. She disappeared slowly under the layers of seed forming her chrysalis. More pumping and more dripping slime and all that was recognizable was something alive under the translucent cocoon.

It pulsed like it was moving with her own slowing heartbeat now. Rick stood guard over his finished work, ready to protect it against anyone who would threaten its transforming work. The brain seed drone Xander would offer to relieve Rhodes soon and steer the ship. Bayer's implanted oral parasite would mature enough to spread to the crocodile and they would continue normally to the next comber station.

By that time, she would be ready. Miranda would have the luxury of hatching properly. Changed into a sleek goddess of infestation who would provide enough parasites to overtake the station. From there, hundreds of ships would depart, filled with drones and queens.

Rick saw the chrysalis flex. Its passenger was waking....
