#2 of Ra's Rise (Finished)

Jack go's on a trip to Egypt with his college professor on the search for an ancient scroll. They find the scroll, but dark forces are at play within the scroll.

Jack was completely enthralled by the scroll in front of him; it was a description of the Egyptian god Ra from ancient times. The bird headed god had a sun circling his head as if he was the sun incarnate. Jack had been admiring the scroll from the moment the archeologists down in the catacombs had come upon it.

"Jack!" He heard a voice shout for him, he turned around to see the professor walking towards him. "Oh, hello Professor Mikaelson sorry I was looking at the scroll." The professor sighed, "I'm fine with that but we had a deal that if anyone found the scroll you would come inform me immediately." Jack scratched the back of his head, "I'm sorry, it's just that when I saw this I had to take a look at it." The professor smiled, "I think you are the only person on this expedition who is more excited about the scroll than I am." Jack laughed, "I'm not sure if I would be dedicated enough to spend thousands of dollars on a trip to Egypt for a single scroll."

The two laughed, "Well then what have you discovered from the scroll so far?" Mikaelson glanced over the student's shoulder, "From what I can tell it seems to be some sort of incantation, for what I'm not really sure." Jack looked up to the college professor; the man seemed to be in deep thought. "Can you write down the words for me Jack and I'll send them over to a colleague." Jack nodded and started to translate the words into a notebook.

As he translated the words he kept glancing at the caricature of the Egyptian god, his parents had told him as a child of the great god Ra. According to them he was a great god who represented the sun; he resembled a man except that he had a bird's head. Ever since Jack had heard those stories he had wanted to learn more about the god, he had made it his goal as he went through school. When he had gotten into college one of his teachers Professor Tod Mikaelson had divulged that he was also studying up on the Egyptian deity.

The student and Professor had spent days trading back and forth information that they had found on the god, as they spoke Tod had told Jack that he may be going on an expedition to Egypt to find a legendary scroll. When Jack heard about it he begged the professor to let him come along as an aide, after much pleading the man finally decided to let the student come along. The pair had come to Egypt in high hopes of find the scroll quickly, but as they had a crew of archeologists dig around in ancient ruins for the scroll they found that days were turning into weeks.

But after much digging the archeologists dug into some catacombs, as they explored the dark space they found a golden chest with ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics on it. When they opened it up they found a scroll on a bed of bones, when they examined the bones closer they realized that the bones were from birds. Before anyone could announce the find Jack swiped the scroll and ran off into his tent to examine it.

Now that Jack was translating the scroll he realized that he was holding ancient history in his hands, he shivered in anticipation. As he finished translating the incantation the paper in front of him suddenly shivered as if a wind was blowing it, Jack looked at the paper in confusion. He reached out and touched it and jumped back as the paper crumbled in his hand, Jack gaped in shock. The dust blew away from a sudden gust of wind, Jack shuddered at the realization of what just happened.

He stumbled into the professor's room, "Um... Professor Mikaelson..." The educator looked up from a book he was reading, "Ah Jack there you are." Jack tried to tell him what happened but he couldn't muster up the words, "What's the matter Jack?" Finally Jack smacked himself and was able to spit out what had happened, after a moment of silence the professor sighed. "Well as long as you finished up translating from the page I guess we'll survive."

Jack was surprised; the professor usually would've gotten angry over something that ancient being destroyed. Tod's eyes flashed in excitement, "I'll send these off right now." Jack nodded and watched as the Professor ran to his tent, as Jack started to clean up his area he noticed that the table had an imprint in it that hadn't been there before. He brushed aside the papers on the table and gaped, on the table there was an imprint of Ra. The exact same picture that had been on the parchment had transferred onto his table.

Not only that but the picture seemed to be glowing a curious red, Jack stumbled back and ran out of his tent towards the professors. As he ran through the camp he noticed that all of the archeologists who would usually be working had all mysteriously disappeared. "Professor Mikaelson!" As he ran into the tent he stopped on a dime, there in the middle of the room was the Professor holding the notebook inciting the incantation. "Professor what are you doing?!" He shouted over the sudden burst of wind, the professor seemed enthralled in the words. In fact the Professor's eyes were glowing a dull red color.

Jack tried to run towards the Professor but every time he tried to take a step the wind blew him back as if to protect the Professor. As the Professor finished up the incantation a sudden explosion of light throbbed from his body, Jack was blinded and thrown back by the wind. After a moment Jack rubbed his eyes, in place of the Professor was a falcon headed man. "Ah good, finally a body to once again inhabit." A low voice came from the man; he looked down at the clothes that he was wearing.

"This will not do a god." The man waved over his hand over his body and as the hand passed over the clothes they changed into a more Egyptian looking ensemble, the edges of the clothes were adorned with a golden trim. As Jack observed further he realized that the Professor had grown much taller at least eight inches, he also noticed that under his eyes were black markings like those that Egyptian pharaohs had.

"P... professor?" The falcon headed man looked towards the college student on the ground, "Ah a young human." Jack shuddered as the man looked over him; the man not only had a falcon's head but also their eyes. The eyes seemed to look right inside of him, "Ah my host knows you, you're the one known as Jack yes?"

Jack slowly nodded, "Ar... are you Ra?..." The man thought it over for a second, "Ah yes that is one of my many names." Jack shuddered as he realized that he was in the presence of a god, "What happened to Professor Mikaelson?" Ra thought it over for a moment, "Ah that is my hosts name, well I guess you could say that he is now a part of me." Jack took in the god; the Professor had never carried himself with such an air of arrogance. "So you think me arrogant boy?" Jack recoiled in shock, he hadn't realized that the god could read his mind.

"Indeed, I have the capability to read minds... oh what is this? It seems that you have an adoration for me young one." Jack bit his lip, damn this stuck up god. Ra's eyes furrowed at this thought, "Don't you dare insult me human, I am a god!" As the god shouted the ground underneath their feet shivered, Jack backed up in fright. Ra took a moment to calm himself down, "I apologize, I forget that you are just a child." Jack's eyes furrowed at this comment, "I am not a child, I am an adult!" Ra's eyebrow lifted for a second before the god laughed.

"You truly have spunk, just the type of person I would love to have in my army." Jack looked at Ra in confusion, "Army?" Ra nodded, "Now that I am reborn I shall need an army to take over this world with." Jack gaped, "Take over the world?! I won't help you do that!" Ra smiled malevolently, "You don't have a choice young one." Ra's hand burned a bright red and then a ball of magic flew into Jack's chest, "Ouch!" Jack screamed as the magic burned inside of him, as the magic ignited inside of him he felt changes starting. When he was finally able to look down he watched as the ground grew further away as he grew taller, feathers started to sprout out of his growing body.

Jack raised one of his arms and watched as his arm became a wing, he noticed that he still retained his fingers. He felt a poking out of his butt; as he lowered his hand he realized that he had grown tail feathers. Jack was able to turn his head and saw his reflection, in place of the normal college student there stood a tall falcon human hybrid. As he looked at his face he noticed a black underline appearing under his eyes, as the underline extended he saw that his pupils color were changing. He suddenly clutched at his head as he heard Ra's voice in his head, "You now shall be my general, but to be my general you must be as cruel as a falcon and loyal only to me."

Suddenly Ra's power struck into Jack's brain and he felt that the god was changing his mind, "No stop it!" He shouted but he heard the call of a falcon, Ra smirked as he dug deeper into the former human's mind. He made Jack's personality into that of a cruel and calculating person like the personality of a falcon, he also instilled a loyalty to him into Jack. Jack suddenly stopped struggling and straightened up, his eyes once full of a cheerful lively glow to them now held a glint of steel. "My lord Ra." He spoke in ancient Egyptian, "Stand my general; I shall give you your new name."

The now nameless general stood up, "You shall be known as Herep." Herep called out in acknowledgement, "Now Herep according to my host's memories he sealed all of the archeologists in the catacombs, I want you to change them all under my name." Herep bowed and went to do what his master had commanded. Ra smiled as his new general walked out to do what he had commanded, he turned around and laughed loudly, "Now that the pesky symbol that the pharaohs had made for me is gone along with that parchment I can freely rule this world!"

Back in an abandoned tent on a table there laid the inscription of Ra; it glowed silently as if in answer to Ra's boasting. Waiting there to one day to rid the god from the world.
