I'm Not Going...Maybe.

I have decided to try and revise and improve this story and hopefully complete it. What does it contain well mostly odd humor and such.

Alright so what is the story about so far. well, it's about Dan who works in an office, a really weird office of unknown purpose, but an office none the less. The entire office except Dan intends to go to the yearly Halloween party and the newest employee a bat anthro seeks to change his mind.

Also feel free to fave I promise it wont kill you.

I'd like to say that I started off my day with a graceful awakening. That however, is most certainly not the case. No, this morning went like every other with me being forced from my sleep by the blaring sound of my alarm clock. Well kind of anyway, my waking up was more due to the fact that instead of getting up I decide that it was a good idea to attempt to silence the alarm with one of my shoes which, conveniently rested right beside the bed. I mean it seemed perfectly logical at the time, if you want something to shut up hit it. So as you can most likely tell my logic tends to be a bit off when I'm drowsy and needless to say it didn't really work the way I had wanted it to. No instead the shoe completely missed its mark and managed instead to collide with my lamp knocking it off the bedside table onto the floor causing said lamp to be shattered to pieces.

"What the hell?" I yelled indignantly as I sat up in my bed

I sighed as I gazed upon the shattered remains of my lamp taking a short pause to mourn the loss of a loyal um... item which had lit a path in the darkness from the treacherous confines of my room to the bathroom. I dragged myself out of bed avoiding the shattered remains of my ceramic victim and shuffled over to the alarm clock to silence it properly by flipping the switch on the side. I turned on the light and began to clean up the dismembered corpse that was once my lamp. I quickly made a mental note to find a replacement after work and that's when it hit me.

"Oh shit I have work today." I shouted as I began to scramble about aimlessly in my attempt to get ready.

I hastily made my way to the bathroom and begin my standard morning routine with brushing my teeth, well after observing myself in the mirror to make sure that I was still the same me as yesterday. I went through my checklist just to be certain.

"Short blonde hair? Check. Dull grey eyes? Same boring color as they were before. Pale skin? Yep. Teeth? All accounted for." I listed as I prepared my toothbrush and used it to well clean my teeth.

I continued my routine and proceeded to the toilet and due to the fact that I highly doubt that you would like to hear the details of my morning piss I have decided to omit them from the story.

After finishing up in the bathroom I walked back into my room to retrieve my outfit for today an amazing combo of jeans and a plain black t-shirt. Next I moved into the kitchen to grab breakfast out of the fridge and headed out into the hall making sure to lock the door behind me and hide the key in the potted plant by my door_shhh_. I made my way down the two flights of stairs to the lobby and left the apartment complex through the front doors and began my short trek to work stopping at the crosswalk of what I am fairly sure is the busiest intersection in town. I turned and pressed the button on the stoplight and not just once either, multiple times. Which, just so you know doesn't really make the light change any faster but that still doesn't stop me and several other people from doing it nearly every time. After crossing the street I continued down the sidewalk towards the office building in which I work.

Once I arrived I made my way over to the offices where I work and headed straight to my cubicle. I even managed to get halfway there before I was discovered.

"Eh Dan, what you supposed to be." A deep voice called to me from behind.

I turned around and came face to face or more accurately face to chest with a large anthropomorphic wolf his fur was a blend gray, black and white and his eyes which were usually blue had yellow contacts over them. A large grin adorned his face showing off his teeth as he looked down at my thin 5 foot 10 body and although most people might have been intimidated by a hulking 7 foot 2 wolf I knew that he had meant me no harm, assuming I didn't piss him off.

"Oh hi Anthony, I might ask you the same question considering your current outfit." I said while indicating his torn shorts and his complete lack of a shirt.

"I'm a werewolf, obviously." He replied looking at me as if I was a clueless child.

"You will use any excuse you can to not wear a shirt wont you?"

"Yeah, pretty much but you appear to be dressed like yourself. You're going to stick out at the party tonight."

"I'm not going this year not after what happened last time, or have you forgotten?"

"Oh I've not forgotten. It was quite memorable." Antony said while suppressing a laugh. "But still you should come. It's better than sitting at home alone all night. Like a bum. Again."

"I'll think about it." I replied as I continued to my cubicle.

I sat down at my computer and logged in, well I turned it on first but then I logged in and as soon as the screen popped up I was off to work typing away just like every other day. Until after about five minutes when I started to hear odd shuffling noises coming from the cubicle next to mine.

"Hey Dan I heard you weren't going to the party." Said a voice from somewhere above me.

I looked up at my coworker and try to make eye contact which was hard because his eyes were obscured by a long black mop head of hair and all that I did see of his face was covered in artificial blood. At least I hope it was artificial.

"I said I'd think about it and Steven don't you remember what happened the last time you stood up on your chair." I asked him knowing full well that it was the only way he could see over the divider.

Steven shivered a little as he recalled the little mishap. It was a memory he was not particularly fond of. I however had found it hysterical

He had been talking to me over the wall (He does that a lot) and was unaware that our boss was wandering around going from cubicle to cubicle to check that everyone was working on what they should have been. When she came up to Steven's cubicle she coughed to get his attention which startled him and made him jump which spun his chair throwing off his balance sending him face first into the boss's chest. The boss is a usually kind hearted collie anthro and she rarely gets upset but after that incident she had yelled at Steven for at least eight minutes and told him that if she ever caught him standing on his chair again she would crush his jewels with her knee.

"The boss is in her office so I'm safe and why are you not coming to the party? I mean come on it's Halloween." Steven said.

Unfortunately for Steven the boss chose right then to come out of her office and he dove to the floor with a speed I didn't even know he was capable of. I couldn't help but laugh as he gave a small groan of pain upon hitting the ground.

"Alright everyone come up to the front so I can make an announcement." The boss yelled. "Actually, make that two announcements." After everyone had gathered in the empty space in front of the boss's office she continued.

"Firstly I would like to introduce you all to your new coworker." She said as she motioned to the door to her right.

And that was the first time I saw her, standing there in the doorway. She was a 5 foot 6 (if you didn't count her ears) anthropomorphic vampire bat with short light brown fur covering her whole body. Her muzzle protruded cutely outward and two small curve fangs could be seen at the sides. She had bright and vivid emerald hued eyes and large triangular ears. Her wings were folded behind her back over the top of her short black dress and one of her ears was covered by a black witch hat that was no doubt part of her costume. The inside of her ears or at least the one I could see were tinted pink in embarrassment as were her cheeks. She was clearly nervous and was shaking like a leaf in a gale. Her gaze was averted toward the floor in an attempt to avoid eye contact.

She looked up only for a moment to give a soft "hello" to everyone in the room before turning her gaze back to what was apparently the most interesting floor tile in existence.

"Alright I would also like to inform you that tonight's Halloween party will be taking place at the Dark Eden night club and the building has been entirely rented out for our party." The boss continued.

Everyone started walking back to their desks and I headed back towards mine until I heard the boss call my name.

"Hey Dan can you come here for a minute?" she asked.

"Yes ma'am."

"Cut the crap Dan you know my name please use it."

"Alright Jen what do you want?"

"I want you to teach your new coworker what is expected of her if you've got the time."

"Of course I've got the time you sign my paychecks."

"Come with me please." I say as I turned to the bat girl.

She looked at me and shyly nodded her head. I turned around and headed back to my work station with the bat girl in tow.

"Hi, my name is Dan what is yours?" I asked her.

"My name is Sylvainna or Syl if you prefer." She replied quietly.

"Well it's nice to meet you Syl."

It didn't take me very long to explain to her what she would be doing in her new job and it didn't take her long to get it figured out. I even got her to laugh a bit when I told her some of the stories of what had happened in or office.

"Um, Dan I was wondering if you were going to the party tonight?" Syl asked shyly as I finished explaining the details of her new job.

"No, I hadn't planned on it. Why?" I replied.

"Um well, I was wondering if maybe you would come with me because you are the only one I know and the boss really wants me to go and don't think I can go alone." She said looking up at me her eyes full of hope.

"Well I guess I could go, at least until you get to know some of the other people here."

"You will? Thank you so much." She said before drawing me into and affectionate embrace.

I had found it quite... nice/awkward. It was nice, her fur was soft and felt-like, her body was warm and felt nice pressed up against me... It was awkward because it only lasted about a second and a half seconds before she jumped back with a startled look about her figure. The insides of her ear as well as her cheeks had taken on a pinkish hue, again, and she turned to look at pretty much anything that wasn't me trying to avoid eye contact.

"Sorry." She whispered.

"That's okay; it's really not that big of a deal." I responded.

"Oh." She said as her eyes finally came to rest on the floor.

"As interesting as the floor may be I think I would prefer if you looked up so I could see your eyes." I said.

I reached forward and slowly lifted her chin until her eyes were level with mine. I stared deeply into the emerald pools that were her eyes.

She blushed deeply as she stared back before slowly moving in a little closer and then...

"Ah-achoo!"

Yes it's exactly what you think. She sneezed, right in my face. Definitely not the highlight of my day.

"I'm so sorry." She said handing me a tissue.
