A Digimon Fanfic idea I had after watching some of the Xros Wars. So I began to start on the idea again.

Episode 1: Welcome to the Digital World

Four humans are transported into a strange Realm called the "Digital World" there they meet their partner digimon, but one strangely does not have one, when a great beast machine digimon shows up to attack, will the humans and digimon be enough to topple the hungry machine?

Digimon FanficEpisode 1: Welcome to the Digital World! She stood before the strange area that appeared to be a forest. She took a few steps forward and gasped in shock for a moment as a large screen popped out in front of her slowly producing words before her face. She began to read aloud what the sign said: "Welcome newcomer, to the Digital World, where your next great journey awaits..." Blinking the female began to look over her surroundings, checking her clothing to see if anything changed, no, it was still the same, but how was it possible she had entered this "Digital World"? Her memory on how she got here was a bit foggy... "What is your name?" The prompt asked the female as she watched, a little skeptical about the strange questioning device and answered it truthfully all the same: "Rose Hathaway." "Interesting...well then, Rose, allow me to congratulate you on your arrival, and will grant you this gift before you start your adventure..." The screen then disappeared and was replaced by what appeared to be a blue colored globe and a small circle along the center, emitting a soft light. Rose picked up the sphere without a second thought as the light then flashed over her body, scanning it as a bar began to rapidly fill along the screen until it finished with the words: Synchronization complete. The female found herself staring at the strange orb as it beeped, announcing: "Locating partner...locating partner..." She began to check over her clothing to see if anything had been altered or changed. Apparently not; Rose still wore her green t-shirt, a pair of jeans, sneakers, and kept her brown hair long and straight. Rose held the sphere up again before the light flashed a red color and began to buzz like an alarm. "Error...error. Unable to detect Digimon partner." "Digi...mon?" She whispered, looking around the forest as she took the top half and bottom half of the sphere, hoping to pull it apart to stop the buzzing, with a twist of her hand however, the top portion shifted, clicking in place and began to display a grid map to Rose as three other dots were blinking near one on the map. A blue dot blinked in another portion of the grid. Was that her location? Then what could those dots...her eyes widened. Had other people entered this strange realm with her? Maybe they could help her understand what was going on. As if sensing her thoughts, the unit displayed three arrows and also distance away the dots were to her. Rose began to follow the arrows, moving in on the closest one. Soon enough she was only 10 meters from her target, but the dense forest and brush obscured whatever was nearby. "Hello there...are you another human?" She received no response, other than a rustle in the bush and then a small bear-like creature with brown fur, and a blue baseball hat with the word "Bears" written on it, bounded out and pounced her. Rose bonked the bear on the head as it grabbed at its head and rubbed it. "Ow, that hurt!" The girl's eyes lit up. "It talks..." "Bearmon, come back." A small child of around ten years old appeared from the bush. He wore a red shirt, brown shorts, hiking boots, and a baseball cap on his head. The blonde bowl-cut hair peeking out below gave Rose a pause. "Eric? Eric, what are you doing here?" "Rose? I don't know. I was playing hide and seek with Pam, and then I found myself here." "Pam could also be here." She held up her spherical device again, watching the other two blips approaching her location.A boy around Rose's age and the young girl Pam emerged from the bushes. The boy wore gloves, pants, a pilot's jacket, scarf, and a pair of aviator goggles on his head against his spiky brown hair. The girl had her red hair in pig tails, while she wore a pink skirt and a white shirt with a gold star in the center, with a bow in her hair. "See? I told you we would find them Terry." "So you did Pam, how did you know to follow the arrows anyway?" "Easy, arrows always point to things, and I wanted to see what it pointed to." Terry smiled but shook his head, and then stepped closer, a small doberman looking dog padded by his side, while a brown, three horned, long eared rabbit walked by Pam. Rose shook her head and rubbed her eyes. No, she had to be imagining things, it was possible Eric, Terry, and Pam were here in this forest with her, but these strange creatures? Eric hefted his Bearmon up, showing him off as it squirmed in his arms. "Hey, I'm not a stuffed toy you know!" Eric regretfully let the bear go as Pam's partner, Lopmon, climbed up and rested on her shoulder. "So how did you end up here, Rose?" Terry gave a scratch to his digimon's ears, Puppymon laying on his side and waiting for belly rubs. "I-do not know. I was out camping and I went to check my e-mail via my phone..." She gasped and reached around, looking about. "My phone, it's gone!" "Mine disappeared as well when I came here." Terry replied. "So how did you three get here anyway?" "I was rummaging through my grandfather's old trunk for things for Eric and Pam to play with." He tugged at the jacket and adjusted the goggles. "All I found was some of his old aviation gear when he was still a pilot, but when I came back, the two were playing hide and seek with one another, and then I found myself waking up here..." "And then this odd window popped up, welcoming us to some kind of digital world." Eric turned to look at Rose. "That's just the way the Data Collector greets new arrivals." Puppymon said nonchalantly. "Data Collector?" "Yes." Bearmon stepped forward. "Every now and then it will scan the area or ask a few questions; only saying it is 'gathering data' when asked its business." Rose scratched her chin. "Don't you think that is a little bit odd?" Terry looked over to Rose. "No. Still, if these creatures we have with us are called 'digimon' and these devices we have been given are some sort of communication link to us, our partners and this world, then where is your partner, Rose?" Rose's digivice blinked again, repeating the mantra of "locating partner, locating partner...error...error...unable to locate partner." "Why do you have no partner Rose?" Pam asked as the older girl stared at her sphere and then shook it in a bit of frustration. "I-do not know... Speaking of, why do you three have these 'digimon' anyway?" The three remained speechless, giving uncertain looks to one another. Before any of them could answer however, a large blast of energy soared overhead and seared the tops of the trees around the group, causing all of them to drop to the ground. "What was that?" Terry looked around, finding Eric and Pam cowering while Lopmon and Bearmon stood to protect them. "It's the protector of this forest." Puppymon looked around to locate the attacker. "Protector? More like an overseer who rules with an iron fist." Bearmon replied. "And who exactly is this?" Rose asked, starting to move toward the source of the attack. Terry grabbed her by the arm. "Rose, what are you doing? You don't have a digimon." "I need to see what this thing is. Use your digimon to attack and I will distract it." Each one nodded slowly and began to carefully follow behind Rose. She made her way to an opening clearing in the forest, where a second blast of energy ruined another row of trees, the creature stomping about and gazing around rapidly as if trying to find something. "I know you are here, Ilkamon. I can smell that trail of delicious energy you leave behind..." "Who is this?" Rose asked, and then her sphere's light beamed out a holographic image with details on the digimon before them:

"Syphonmon: A machine type digimon. No other data available." Rose grumbled some, hoping that the digivice would at least tell her a weakness or something specific about this digimon, but apparently it would only relay what data it already had viewed, and given she had basically only seen the other three's digimon, that left her device very devoid of information. "Terry, you and the others get into position and make your moves. I will get its attention toward me." "Rose, wait, you don't have a digimon!" Terry shouted as Rose dashed off toward the large digimon. Syphonmon was a big digimon, standing around twenty meters in height, and resembling a mechanical lion with various vacuum tubes on its back as it opened its mouth to prepare another blast. "Hey, you rusty piece of junk, over here!" Rose said; waving her arms as Syphonmon turned its gaze to look upon the human, growling. "I am not a piece of junk!" The machine made a swipe at her with its forepaws and Rose began to roll underneath the large machine and slipped behind it as it looked around for where the human had gone to. The three other's digimon then surrounded the great beast and launched into their attacks. "Karate fist!" Bearmon dove for Symphonmon's chest and smashed his fist against it as the machine creaked, but did little to move or receive damage. "Blazing Ice!" Lopmon opened its mouth and shot out an array of ice crystals against Symphonmon, but the machine chuckled. "Claw slicer!" Puppymon dashed forward and slashed at the feline's legs with its sharp toes and the small blades along the back of its feet, causing a few scratches and even cutting a few scraps of metal off of it, but doing little else. Syphonmon laughed aloud. "So, more humans have come into the Digital World have they? Interesting...but your digimon are lacking in experience, and are all weaklings to feed my ravenous stomach!" Syphonmon then began to open his mouth wide and the various tubes on his back sprang to life, darting forth likes snakes on the attack as they attached themselves to the digimon, slowly starting to absorb the energy from the digimon and feeding it into the feline machine. "Yes...your energy will do just fine until I can find that elusive beast. As for you, human..." The leonine machine opened its mouth again and a ball of energy started to form and grow within it as it shot the blast at Rose. "Dire Shot!" The fiery blast decimated another row of trees and had left an incendiary mark where the human once stood. Eric, Terry, and Pam all gasped in shock as they feared Rose had been incinerated. "How could you? She didn't mean to cause any harm to anyone." Terry yelled at Syphonmon as he caught sight of a shadowy figure up in the trees and it dropped something heavy into his lap, causing him to fall onto his butt. "Rose!" He said and held her close for a moment. "But how...?" Rose wearily pointed upward as the figure moved again through the trees and suddenly landed before Syphonmon, the other digimon struggled to do anything, but the machine was slowly sapping away their energy into itself, fueling more of its power reserves. "And who are you?" The feline machine stated to the figure, wrapped in a brown cloak with a hood over its head. Syphonmon then sniffed at the air and licked its lips. "Ahh...you finally show yourself...Ilkamon." Pulling the cloak off and throwing it aside, the dragon let his yellow eyes gaze upon the machine. "Let the other digimon go. You have no quarrel with them." "Why should I? They are delicious little snacks that are fueling me; I can feel myself becoming even stronger..." Ilkamon only stood around two meters tall; he was a red and yellow scaled dragon with a mane of blonde hair. He wore a breastplate of armor, having three crystal-like spheres, two on the shoulders, and one in the center of his armor. On his hands was a pair of black fingerless gloves. He stood, unfazed by the giant machine creature. A black, spiked collar was on his neck, with four of the five energy bars glowing in a soft white color. "You want a bigger source of energy, do you not? You love to feed upon the energy of other digimon, then have me instead. You do not need such small snacks when the main course is before you..." The leonine machine swayed its tail slowly in thought before it shook its head. "No, snacks first: main course later." The other three digimon screamed as Syphonmon began to absorb more of their energy, their bodies starting to become slightly transparent as their digital essence was fading away. "I warned you." Ilkamon dashed around the machine in a flash, slicing the lines of its vacuum tubes with but a couple flicks of his claws, grabbing the three smaller digimon in the process and handing them back over to Terry and the others. "Thank you mister Ilkamon..." Pam said, cuddling Lopmon close. "Don't thank me just yet..." Syphonmon shook its head and just grinned down at the tiny dragon before it. "You think you can withstand me? You may have cut off my absorbing tubes, but that doesn't mean I can just eat you!" Syphonmon thrust its face down, preparing to devour the small dragon before it. Ilkamon just stood there again, with that same vacant expression on his face, not revealing any emotion as he grabbed at the jaws of the machine and tossed the giant aside with ease, sending Syphonmon against a few trees. Leaping up into the air, Ilkamon spread his wings out and then the three crystallized plates on his armor began to absorb the light of the sun. "You do not simply feed upon the energy of other digimon, you utilize them simply as your meals for energy, fragmenting their very data into digital particles, where they will remain lost, until such a time their data can be used again to be reborn in a new form. But what you do, you ruin their chances at living out their lives. You simply feed upon them, and destroy them." The machine laughed again. "Isn't that what we are meant to do Ilkamon? How many digimon have you absorbed, have you fragmented into the digital space? We are digimon, we exist to fight, and only the strongest are meant to survive!" A bright aura began to surround Ilkamon then as he looked ahead at the machine, shaking his head. "We are meant for more than simply fighting one another. Is your code so basic you have not yet understood that?" "Enough of your lecturing: Time to feast." Again the machine opened its mouth and began to use a vacuum-like method to try and pull things around it inside as Syphonmon began to draw in some of the remaining trees, and the four humans and digimon held onto one another as best they could as the pull became stronger and stronger. Soon enough the machine stopped as it gazed at the tiny dragon. "Still cannot eat you huh? Perhaps then I will simply destroy you and devour your data when you fragment. Dire Shot!" Again that massive ball of energy blasted forth and aimed right for the dragon hovering before the great machine. Ilkamon nonchalantly held out his hand and blocked the attack with his palm, slowly starting to lift it over his head and looked at the feline machine. "Is that it?" Sending a punch against the ball, Ilkamon made the energy dissipate into the air; Syphonmon did his best to devour the energy ball once more so he would not lose the precious energy. "How is that possible? You cannot be that strong..." "My turn." Ilkamon flexed his arms into an X formation and then shouted out "Solar blast!" as the central crystal on his armor flared to life and shot out a laser beam of pure heated energy against the machine as Syphonmon did what he could to absorb the blast, but the intense heat was burning his metallic parts and making it hard for him to even concentrate his absorption attack. When the beam finally passed, Ilkamon landed on the ground, again holding his calm posture, hands behind his back. "If you surrender, I can let you go peacefully and you can be fed now and then, but you must stop your desire to satiate your ravenous hunger." "And become a weakling like you are? Never: my hunger sustains me! Now you will see what I gather energy for: Mega Dire Shot!" Again the machine formed an energy ball, but this one was much larger and pulsed and crackled with energy that seemed to be fueled from all the energy stored up within the leonine construct. Firing the blast off toward Ilkamon, he again kept his posture, but leapt upward at the last moment and pulled a sword from a sheath against his back. "I gave you your chance, but you still deny the ability to have freedom? Energy blade!" Ilkamon's sword suddenly burst into a blade of buzzing energy, and then it grew and ascended for the skies as the others could only stare at how large and tall the blade was becoming. Bringing the blade downward, Ilkamon slammed it against the massive energy ball and even cleaved the machine in half as it cut a huge gap into the ground and Syphonmon broke apart into various bits of glowing data into the air, once more heading off into the digital space to be reconstituted at an unknown time. Ilkamon suddenly fell down to one knee and gripped at his chest, grunting. "M-maybe I overdid it..." He whispered as he stood up and shook it off, resuming his neutral posture. "That was awesome!" Eric cheered and ran over to the dragon as he suddenly found himself surrounded by the four humans. "Where did you come from?" "What do you do around this forest?" "Are you its protector?" The dragon shook his head, the assailing questions continued as he brushed past them and their digimon as he started to walk away. "I have business elsewhere." Rose heard a beep from her digivice as she began to look it over and it displayed another message: "Digimon partner found...error...data inconclusive: unable to determine partner." She looked back to Ilkamon as he began to wander off into the woods, the others discussing what to do among one another at this point. Rose then began to hurry along after the dragon. "W-wait..." Ilkamon stopped and turned to look down at the human. "Yes?" "I-I think you and I are meant to be partners." Giving the human an incredulous look, he snorted. "I do not require a partner." "But...but..." She pointed her spherical digivice at the dragon again and once more it beamed the message that Ilkamon was supposed to be her partner, but then again it came back uncertain. "You would let such a device decide your choices?" "No...it's not that, it's..." She paused, thinking. "It must be fate!" She said, pointing a finger at the dragon. "Fate? You are certainly a strange creature, human." "I have a name. I am Rose. You must be Ilkamon; I heard that machine thing calling your name." "Syphonmon...it's a digimon known for its almost insatiable hunger to absorb energy and will trail creatures for days to devour it." "You're so cool. You gotta be my partner." He stared at her with a blank expression. "No." "Aw, come on, you can't deny fate can you?" "Yes, I can." He continued to walk away. The human girl then latched herself to his leg and tried to tug him back. "No, you should stay with us. We're lost and we don't know what this Digital World is and, and..." she grabbed at her hair, knowing she was lost in this strange place with her friends and had no idea of how she could get back home, or keep anyone safe. She was not like these digimon; she was just a mere human, and quite vulnerable, no matter how much she wanted to believe otherwise. Tears ran down Rose's face as she cried against the dragon's leg. Huffing softly in frustration, the dragon patted her head and smiled. "Alright, I will stay. But one day, no more." "Oh, thank you, thank you..." She squeezed him close as he grunted, not understanding how she could hold him so tight when she was just a human. "A-argh; can't...breathe..." She then let go of him and chuckled. "Sorry..."

* * * * * Meanwhile, inside a building within an undisclosed location, a man in a suit and tie began to tick-tap away at a keyboard, observing the humans and digimon that just had entered the Digital World and found one another. A smile crossed his lips. "Good, it seems they have taken my helpful little welcoming messages and found our rogue digimon...it will be interesting to see what will happen to him now that we have a group to test him with."
