SE-09 Five White Feathers By Darrel James Vanwinkle (Writing as Ratseye) 12/11/2001-07/04/2002

PROLOGUE: THE TOKENS OF ELEMENTS

The July summer heat was not as unbearable in the National Scenic Riverways and the Rocky Falls region as Dominic Bastian Vanlyone had first thought it was going to be. He had just finished watching a fireworks display the previous night with family and friends, and was now quietly having breakfast with Damon Horse, Reed Huxley, Jago Fox, and Jonie Dreamsea. The casual small talk was relaxing, and provided some humorous moments to reflect upon. But the day was about to become even more interesting than Dominic had dreamed it could become. The five friends had just finished breakfast and were barely up from their seats when a loud rush a air was heard from the office/den, followed by a terrible crash and a sickening thud. The sound of one of Dominic's bookcases falling over was enough to get everyone on the run into the den.

The office/den is in a state of absolute chaos! It looks as if a cyclone had struck it full force. All of the windows were shattered, and the room itself was unrecognizable.

"Good Gods!" Dominic exclaims. "What caused all this? Damon help me with the bookcase."

Damon came into the den, and helping Dominic, the bookcase was lifted up and placed back against the wall. Lying on the floor, unconscious and in full view of everyone, there lay a white stag with a scroll tied securely around his neck. Everyone is in a state of surprise. Dominic kneels beside the unconscious buck and feels for a pulse. Upon close examination, Dominic can plainly see that this young buck is not his white cervine friend.

Dominic looks up to Reed and exclaims, "He's alive, but needs some medical care. And no, he's not..." Dominic allows the statement to remain unfinished. Dominic still remembered that he was not allowed to say that this was not his friend, the white stag, but another white stag.

Reed understands, and hops off through the dimension door into his apothecary building. He soon returns with medical supplies, and begins to administer aid to the young white buck. In the meantime, everyone helps clean and straighten up the office/den. It takes some time to rehang the curtains, but by the time they are finished, the young buck has awakened and looks around his immediate surroundings. He looks up at Reed, then at Damon, Jago, and Jonie. Then he looks directly at Dominic. The young white buck seems to smile weakly. Reed prevents the buck from speaking in front of the new people. Dominic turns to Jago and Jonie.

"Looks like you two are about to find out another secret behind my lifestyle. Just remember: no matter what you see or hear in this household, you may not repeat to another living soul."

Both Jago and Jonie swear by all that is holy that they will keep whatever the secret is. Dominic nods and turns to Reed and the young white buck.

The young white buck looks to Dominic once again and weakly exclaims, "I found you."

Jago's and Jonie's eyes open slightly more than before as they watch the situation unfold.

Dominic replies, "Yes, my friend. You found me. What happened to you?"

The young white buck weakly replies, "Summoned wind from a mage. Tried to prevent me from getting to you." The young buck coughs a few times. "Take this scroll. Gather the items on the list. My older cousin nee-" The young buck goes limp. Reed immediately begins checking the young white buck over thoroughly. Reed slowly stands again. He shakes his head and picks up his supplies, then returns to his apothecary building. Dominic releases a breath of air, and removes the scroll from the young buck's neck. Dominic stands up and mutters, "Damn it."

Jago and Jonie help Damon pick up and prepare the young buck for proper transport to a special burial site. Dominic sits down at his desk and just sits there. Some mage was responsible for this. Some mage killed a cousin to his white stag friend. Dominic felt anger and rage coursing through his blood veins. He was understandably upset. Some mage was going to pay for this.

By the time Reed, Damon, Jago, and Jonie return to the office/den, Dominic is properly clothed, padded, and suited up in his silver armor, and making sure his magical sword, Companion, was securely within it's scabbard. Dominic was also wearing both magic rings, one on each hand, and had the witch's magic wand fastened securely into a holder on his komodo scale belt.

Dominic was standing in the middle of the office/den holding the scroll open reading it's contents to himself. Reed and Damon exchange glances. Reed frowns, but Damon toothily grins. Damon approaches Dominic and exclaims, "I am with you, Dominic. You can count on me."

Dominic focuses his angry-looking eyes on Damon. "Good. Make sure you are well prepared."

Damon arches an eye. "Where are we going, exactly?"

Dominic glances back at the scroll list once again. "Our first stop will be the Kingdom of Bighorn in the Furry Realm. I need to see about recruiting a high priest of Okali."

Jonie whispers into Jago's ear. Jago nods his head, and steps forward to Dominic. "Jonie and I would like to come along and help, if we can. Is that okay?"

Dominic glances up and directly at Jago and Jonie. "This will be extremely dangerous. Are you certain you want to come along?"

Jonie nods his head, and Jago replies, "You might actually need the extra aid."

Dominic hums, then exclaims, "Very well. Get whatever you think you may need. We cannot actually head out until Jo and Shane get here."

Damon arches an eye. "You invited your sister and Shane?"

Dominic replies, "Jo can fight and Shane has military training, so he's an asset to this mission by himself. You are coming along. Jago and Jonie are also coming."

At that moment, Shane Wayne walked into the den from the main hall. Shane was well prepared in his fighting clothes, and had his military weapons and ammo with him. Shane nods his head to everyone, then to Dominic he exclaims, "Jo is not coming. She is still a little upset that Cassander Vulcan didn't die when his helicopter crashed." (See F1)

Dominic does not remark, but understands well enough. Jo really wanted that bastard Vulcan to go directly to Hell, one way. And Vulcan was legally dead, so the wish was granted. The white stag had kept his end of the bargain. Dominic knew that Jo would not leave the ranch with Vulcan on the loose. Dominic looks to everyone, as Jago and Jonie enter the den once again with supplies.

Reed wishes them all the best of luck, then heads back to his apothecary shop.

Dominic activates the stone gateway, and together with Damon, Shane, Jago, and Jonie, they walk through to the Kingdom of Bighorn in the Furry Realms.

PART ONE: TOKEN OF EARTH

Minutes later, Dominic and friends were standing in front of King Bighorn within his throne room. King Bighorn listens to Dominic's story and looks over the list of items. King Bighorn informs Dominic that he will arrange for the Temple of Okali to provide a priest to help him on his adventure. King Bighorn has Dominic and his friends wait in the castle library.

One hour later in the castle library, Dominic was beginning to get impatient. Just then a familiar pair walked through the open doorway. The first was a male ottermorph furry, appearing to be in his mid twenties, looking to be about five foot eight inches tall, and maybe weighing about one hundred forty pounds, although being quite slim in build. Unlike most otters, he had long glossy black hair, pulled back tight over his head, tied with a single braid running down to his mid shoulder. His fur color was a dark chocolate, with white fur covering his chest and stomach. He wore a fir green tunic, "V"-necked, one which is donned by slipping it over the head. Around his waist, he wore a black komodo leather belt, about an inch thick, with an intricate weaving of metal serving as a buckle. Strapped to his back, in cross sheaths, are twin katanas, one black, the other white, with the ends of the hilts each fashioned to form one half of the Yin and the Yang. The second was a male beavermorph furry, medium sized, wearing studded leather armor, and having a quiver of arrows strapped over his back, while holding a short bow in one paw. His expression was one that Dominic knew well. This beaver hated being indoors, hated cities and towns, and resented being forced to enter such places.

Dominic cannot help but smile when he sees the two furries. "Rab Streambattle and Brand Irondam. It is a pleasure to see you both again." (See F2)

Brand's expression changes immediately to one of seeming joy when he sees and hears Dominic. "Dominic! I am so glad to see you again!" Brand runs forth and tackles Dominic in a tight hug.

Rab remains more calm but is surprised by Brand's actions. "Dominic. It is a pleasure to see you again. King Bighorn explained the situation to me, and Brand was summoned to the court. I understand that you are waiting for a priest of Okali."

Dominic nods his head. "Is Garla Canopyskimmer being allowed to come with us this time?"

Rab shakes his head. "Garla is conducting her services in Trail Down." (See F3)

Dominic hums. "And what about Warneeri and Huckleberry Slyfingers?"

Brand steps back from Dominic and exclaims, "You are not going to believe it. Warneeri and Huck got married, and are living in Trail Down. Garla conducted the ceremonies."

Dominic blinks his eyes. "You're kidding! Huck and Warneeri could barely get along. They will kill each other if they have to live together." Dominic rolls his eyes and releases a quick breath. "I was hoping the old adventuring party was going to be here."

Rab smiles. "We will not have the old party, but you'll get a party. That I promise you. I am still mainly your fighter. Brand is our scout and hunter. Once the priest arrives, you will have Okali's presence on your side. As for a mage and a thief, I will ask around. I think I know a good thief that could help us."

Brand speaks forth, "And I know of a reasonable specialist mage who can help us. I promise you, he isn't one of my people."

Dominic smiles. "I will leave these things in your paws then, but I am becoming impatient having to wait here in this castle."

Rab nods his head. "Brand and I will return as soon as we can." Rab and Brand leave the library once again to find the companions they said they could acquire.

Jago exclaims, "This has been anything but dull so far. Who would have known that such a world existed. This gives me an idea for a new video game."

The sun was setting by the time the Okali priest arrived. King Bighorn presented the priest to Dominic, then returned to see if the evening dinner was about ready.

Standing before Dominic was a male flying squirrelmorph furry, looking to be about five foot six inches tall, maybe weighing 125 pounds, wearing pale gold robes, and openly brandishing the holy symbol of Okali on a gold necklace he is wearing around his neck. He holds an iron staff as both his walking stick and his weapon. He wore leather sandals on his footpaws. He looked up at Dominic and spoke a voice that seemed like an endless calm.

"I am High Priest Garreth Wanderingoak. I have been asked to accompany you while you are in the Furry Realms. As protocol dictates, we may leave tomorrow morning."

Dominic kept his smile, forcibly, but he could tell already that he disliked this priest. "As you say, High Priest Wanderingoak. We cannot leave anyway until our other companions return." Dominic walks past Garreth and out of the library. He eventually stops walking and gazes out across the openness of the Wind River Wilderness from his vantage point on the castle walls.

Brand Irondam returned first. Or rather, he and his mage friend simply "appeared" from nowhere in a showy display of colored light and billowy smoke. Brand has a look of annoyed tolerance on his muzzle, showing that he disliked traveling in that manner. The specialist mage was a male silvery river otter. Sparkling, icy blue eyes, full of curiosity and mischief, peek out from this sleek, water loving form. The stark velvety, white fur of his slim muzzle melts into a soft wintry gray, and flows down to his chest, where it again fades to a dazzling frosty white. As your eyes traverse downward you see that this continues all the way down his flat tummy to his mid-inner thigh and back around to his tail. Adorning his upper body is a pale blue vest, with an intricately embroidered silver trim of Celtic knot work, and an elegant platinum medallion of a welsh dragon that hangs loosely about his neck. A pair of deep blue, silk breeches, tying at the waist with a silver cord, cover his plantigrade legs until they fall into the low cut, charcoal-gray leather boots upon his feet. A bluish colored crystalline tail-ring sits at the base of his tail, and a pair of platinum hoops pierce his right ear. His laughing blue eyes glance over at you, as he smiles brightly in greeting. A light heathery scent is detectable.

Brand coughs quietly, then recomposes himself quickly and says, "I present to you, Wastrel, a rune mage. A master of his craft, and could easily, and perhaps even moreso, be Warneeri's equal, or greater."

Dominic looks to jovial river otter and holds his hand out, saying, "Greetings, mage Wastrel." He introduces himself properly and Wastrel shakes his hand. "Has Brand informed you on why we need your services?"

Wastrel smiles and says, "Only that you have need of a mage on your quest here in the Furry Realms. And I am quite skilled in my field of the arts, although my methods are not the norm for most magi that you might encounter. You see, I am a rune mage."

Dominic also smiles. "I am pleased to have you in our party then, mage Wastrel."

Wastrel tilts his head with a grin. "I would appreciate it if you dropped the title. I have not earned such praise as yet."

Brand coughs and says, "...And who was it who saved that boat load of children, I ask you? Not earned his praise? He is too modest to admit his importance."

Dominic was quite pleased with a modest mage who insisted upon remaining anonymous. Now he only had to await Rab and his thief friend, where ever they might be.

A fine dinner was had in the castle's dining hall, then much later, after some festive music, Dominic found himself once again out on his lone balcony. The night sky was cloudy and only a glimmer of the moon could be seen now and then. He had seen Rab Streambattle at the dinner. Rab had informed him that his "thief" friend would arrive much later during the night. Dominic is admiring the serene dark view when he became aware of someone behind him.

"Who is there?" Dominic quietly inquired.

"Your senses are good. Do not turn around."

Dominic surmised that the quiet whispery voice belonged to the thief. "Did Rab Streambattle send you?"

"Rab is honorable. For him to turn to me for aid suggests that only my skills could possibly be of use on your quest. I know you would like to know my name, but I cannot tell you. You must earn my trust first. But if you have to call me anything, the name, Gotaki, will suffice. I am a shadow of the night. My skills are honed to a vorpal edge. I am ninja."

Dominic merely nodded and quietly gulped. "Your services are surely welcome, Gotaki. I hope I may earn your trust on this quest. And if not, then another time."

There is no apparent answer. Dominic waited for a few minutes before taking a cautious peak behind him. There is no one there. Dominic was quite impressed, but how could he expect less from a shadow of the night. Gotaki would surely travel with them, but unseen. Dominic had his adventuring party finally. The morning's light would find him and his companions finally on their way.

The next morning, Dominic's party left the castle, and after speaking with a red fox guardsman named Sir Alec, they left Klondike Town heading once again into the Wind River Wilderness. Brand, Dominic and Shane took scouting points in the front of the party, then Jago, Jonie, Garreth and Wastrel took the middle protective traveling positions, and bringing up the rear of the party, Rab and Damon patrolled on the lookout for bandits.

They traveled for many days through the Wind River Wilderness. One afternoon, the party made camp in some foothills overlooking an overgrown grassy plain and a dark forest. A nearby spring made a cool pool of water and stream. Of course, Rab and Wastrel stripped down and dived into the pool. Brand joined them after getting the remainder of the evening's meal stored. Garreth took up temporary residence in a nearby tree. Damon decided to take watch on the perimeter.

Dominic, Jago and Jonie walked into the grassy plain for a quiet outing. They had gone maybe a mile, when they came upon a small clearing in the tall grasses. Dominic immediately grabbed Jago and Jonie back out of the circle.

Jago says, "Hey! What's going on?"

Dominic makes the hush sound, and says in a whisper, "This is an Equipixy Circle." (See F4) Dominic proceeded to relate what happens in circles like this. Jago and Jonie listen, taking notes, then make faces of fright and disgust when they hear the disadvantage to being trapped here.

Jonie quietly says, "Good thing you recognized this for what it was then. Jago and I would never have known."

Jago says, "I guess we should be thanking you for stopping us before we became horses."

Gotaki's voice was heard quietly. "The equipixy was a threat, but not now. I killed him."

Dominic merely shuddered upon hearing that voice. Strange that Gotaki's voice sounded more feminine this time. And Dominic remembered that only females were immune to the equipixy's power.

Dominic said, "I think we better get back to camp now." And he led Jago and Jonie back to camp immediately. Dominic related what they discovered, and of the equipixy's fate. Rab became very upset, but remained silent. He frowned even when the last one was slain. Must be his code of honor. But even he had to admit that a potential threat to the party had to be dealt with.

A few days later, the party arrived at the Shrine of Erthmont, sacred ground under the protection of Okali herself. Dominic lightly touches the seal of the main gates and gets a light shock. He withdraws, and turns to Garreth Wanderingoak and says, "Please open the gate for us."

Garreth approaches the gates and studies the seal. Then he turns to the party and proclaims, "Before us is a gate that only permits those sure and worthy of their own power to pass through them. When I open this gate, only those so chosen may enter. All others will be repelled."

Damon growls, "Just open it."

Garreth turns back to the seal and chants a bit. Then he turns to Dominic and says, "The gate can only open at dawn's first light. We must wait."

Dominic holds back a nice little thought, but allows Garreth to return to his tree that he's claimed. Garla would never have given the party so much trouble. Dominic calls Damon and Brand over for private council.

"I aim to be inside that place tonight. Do you think Okali would be upset if I had Wastrel transport us inside?"

Brand chuckles. "That -IS- a good idea. For some reason, that priest is rubbing my fur the wrong way. Want me to ask Wastrel now?"

Damon growls quietly, "I must agree with Brand on this. Garreth seems eager to keep us from entering the shrine. Come morning, he would probably invent another reason for why we could not enter."

Dominic says, "So it wasn't just my imagination. Garreth is trying to stop us. I was afraid of that. I knew there was something wrong with him, but I didn't know what." He thinks for a moment. "Brand. Go tell Wastrel what we're planning, but be discreet about it. I'll gather the rest of the party. We're going inside tonight."

Without informing Garreth of their new plans, Wastrel transported the party just inside the shrine past the gates. They journeyed the remaining mile to the ruins of the outer cloister, a large chamber with another gate on one wall with a similar seal on the North wall. The party made camp here and Dominic studied the seal on the next gate. It was similar, but different. Dominic was hoping a priest would not be necessary to open it, for he was losing his patience.

Gotaki's very feminine voice is heard almost on top of him. "Well done, King Lion. You have earned my trust by ditching the assassin hired to cause your failure."

Dominic looks to his left and sees a female wolf dressed all in black. She was extremely beautiful for what he could see of her features. He could only discern that she was female, a wolf and had the most beautiful sapphire eyes. Dominic smiles for a moment, then gets serious again. "King Lion? I am no king. Nor am I a lion. Have I earned your real name yet, or merely the honor of actually getting to see your presence?"

Gotaki didn't turn to look at Dominic, but he could tell that she smiled. "You've earned my presence alone." She paused. "Your aura tells me that you are a ruler among lions. Auras do not lie, Dominic Vanlyone."

Dominic blinked his eyes. "You can see that in my aura? What else can you see?"

Gotaki paused again. Dominic assumed she smiled again. "I can see that when it comes to your white friend, you are a fanatic, and would drop everything to do whatever he asked of you, even though he does not own you. You are a willing servant of the White Stag."

Dominic nodded hid head. He did not dispute nor question that. He would indeed do whatever his white cervine friend asked of him. He was smiling once again for a moment then sighed as he was now thinking about the White Stag's whereabouts. Hoping his cervine friend was indeed well.

Gotaki said, "Get some rest. In the morning, I will open this gate for you. I too am a priestess. But not of Okali." Then she was simply not there.

Dominic blinked his eyes. Her departure startled him, thus reminding him of how dangerous this quest was now. He returned to his tent and lay himself down, sleeping deeply.

The next morning, the party was somewhat surprised by Gotaki's appearance and silvery-black manner of priestly garb. Dominic explained briefly who she was, then nodded to Gotaki to open the gate. Gotaki turned to the seal and chanted to Noktyrni, Lord of Shadows. The seal glowed faintly, then vanished. Gotaki then slowly opened the gates. And all heck broke loose as what seems like an army of monsters poured out of the unsealed gate. Dominic had Companion in hand immediately and with his friends, waded into the fray of combat. Sword slashes, magical spells, and gunfire were the chief sounds heard within the shrine for several hours, then a blanket of silence fell over the scene. Dominic was sitting in his tent allowing Damon to bandage a wound to his left shoulder and right torso. The others were likewise wounded in this fight, but fortunately, no one died.

Gotaki was sitting next to Dominic. "You surprise me, King Lion. You are no ordinary human. You may call me Gotaki Riverclaw, or simply, Gotaki."

Dominic smiled. "Will I ever get to see you without the black uniform?"

Gotaki likewise smiled. "Only my intended mate gets that privilege."

Dominic chuckled, then laughed. "Indeed. You can call me King Lion as long as you like then. But I do not think I am either. What do you suppose lies beyond the gate?"

Gotaki hummed. "I would surmise the Token of Earth dwells there. The item you seek. As I said before, you are very impressive, King Lion." Then she was simply not there again.

Dominic, still smiling, nodded his head and looked to Damon. "She's quite a woman, isn't she?"

Damon chuckled, "She'd carve you up and have you for dinner. But aye, she's quite a woman."

Dominic said, "What do you think of that King Lion statement?"

Damon hummed. "It might be true. Only time will tell. Death is never the end in life, you know."

Dominic hummed too, as he lay himself down to rest and pondered this new information.

The next morning, Dominic's party ventured forth through the open gates into the inner cloister. More destroyed ruins lay open before them. Gotaki called Dominic's attention to a glowing green building in the center of the cloister. Dominic cautiously entered the building and saw the Token of Earth floating in the air in the center of the chamber. Dominic reached out and nimbly grabbed the item, then slowly backed out of the chamber. He re-emerged from the green building and rejoined his friends, showing them the Token of Earth.

"We have it, my friends. Let us return to Klondike Town."

Two weeks later, the party arrived in Klondike Town. The town was in flames and being seiged by monsters. Dominic's party literally had to fight their way through town and up to the castle gates. As they arrived in front of the castle, Dominic was pleased to see familiar faces. Garla Canopyskimmer, Warneeri and Huckleberry Slyfingers. All three helping to defend the castle. Wastrel transported the party to safety up on the castle walls.

Dominic and party rushed into the throne room to see King Bighorn.

King Bighorn was armored and armed in his battle gear. He looked to Dominic and bleated, "It is ill omens to see you returned to here, Sir Dominic. The monsters are demanding the surrender of the Token of Earth. I know what you must have went through to get it and I will not ask you to give it up. Instead, I am requesting that you and your friends leave the Furry Realms, for now. Your quest for the White Stag is far more important than the defense of Klondike and Castle Bighorn."

Dominic just stood there. He then said, "No. With all due respect, if I show them the Token as I am leaving town, they will follow me into the wilderness, allowing you to reclaim your town and fortify the kingdom's defenses. Worry not about me. Once I have all the monsters safely away from the town, my friends and I will leave the Furry Realms."

King Bighorn smiled. "You are brave, Sir Dominic. I look forward toward having you by my side again someday. Perhaps by then, you might have your own kingdom. Until we meet again..." King Bighorn headed out of the throne room.

Gotaki smiled. "Well spoken, King Lion. I am going to enjoy seeing this quest out to its ending. I am coming with you. My father, Pellinova Riverclaw, has given me permission to accompany you. And you may have need of my services again."

Dominic looked to Gotaki, "I cannot ask you to come along from here forth, for our path will lead us back into my world. But I likewise cannot stop you from attending to my needs. It is your choice, Gotaki Riverclaw."

Gotaki smiled. "As you say: you cannot stop me. Shall we go?"

PART TWO: TOKEN OF FIRE

The return mad dash through town showing off the Token of Earth did indeed have the desired affect, in the most overwhelming way. Soon, the entire army of monsters was persuing Dominic's homebound party across the Wind River Wilderness. Once to the predecided location, Damon activated his demon magic and transported the party out of the Furry Realms and into Dominic's den/office back on Earth. Dominic released a sigh of relief as they arrived. "I really hated leaving the kingdom in that condition, but King Bighorn is correct. Completing this quest -IS- important."

Shane said, "I better call my brother and your sisters. I promised them I'd keep them informed of our every return." Shane headed into the other room to use the telephone.

Dominic said, "We will rest one day here in my mansion, then it is off to the next item's location in the Infinitum."

Damon arched an eye. "My home pocket dimension? That is -FAR- too dangerous for you, Dominic. Let me go alone and see if I can't find the item for you. I know the people in the Infinitum and I am immune to the effects of staying too long." (See F5)

Dominic remembers all too well what almost happened to him in the Infinitum. He nods his head solemnly at Damon, and replies, "I agree, Damon. You go ahead and try to locate the Token of Fire for me. While you're doing that, I'll send Hieronymos Pollux an email and ask him if he can locate the last known where abouts of the Token of Water. I know it's in the Mediterranean, but not the exact location. And every time I visit that region, Poseidon summons an Aegean Storm to remind everyone that he is still in charge of the seas there." (See F6)

Damon nods and heads off to his home in the Infinitum. Dominic sits down at his laptop computer and writes up the email request to Hieronymos Pollux for aid in this search. Jago and Jonie sit in the library comparing notes on the adventure thus far. Gotaki looks over all of Dominic's trophies and awards, studying the human's accomplishments.

That evening, Dominic's mansion becomes the scene of a very unexpected meeting. His sisters had agreed to meet on neutral ground with Cassander Vulcan, and Mr. Vulcan actually suggested Dominic's mansion as the neutral ground. So Dominic became the mediator between the Tanner sisters and Cassander Vulcan. The heated discussion continued for several hours and accomplished very little. But it was eventually agreed upon that Cassander Vulcan would no longer fly his helicopter over the Tanner Horse Farm for any reason. This suggestion came from Dominic who was wanting to get all these people out of the house before something weird occured. Dominic also had his sisters agree to reasonable and escorted land visitation by Mr. Vulcan to the Tanner Horse Farm. Dominic was in a rush to get everyone -OUT- of the mansion. His sisters he didn't mind seeing the strange stuff around there, but there was no telling what Cassander Vulcan would do if something happened while he was here. Finally, he was pleased when Cassander Vulcan promptly and rudely got up and left the mansion.

And not a second too soon.

Valerian Mouse and the Golden Yak arrived in an inceremonious explosion in the living room. Everyone literally jumped out of their seats from the shock and surprise of their arrival. Dominic laughed when he saw who it was. "Valerian! Yak! What brings you two to my mansion this evening?"

The Golden Yak replied, "I received word that you would soon be visiting my region in Asia and came to inquire on why you were going there."

Dominic merely scowled for the first time to a good mage of any sort. "I don't see where that is any of your business. I am -NOT- a mage, therefore, do -NOT- have to gain your permission to be in Asia. Now, is there anything else you need? If not, then please leave."

The Golden Yak said, "I think you owe me what I ask, at least. I did resurrect you in the Furry Realms when you died. Now legally, I did not have permission to be there and could recall what ever magics I used that day, which would kill you instantly." (See F7)

Leia, Sallee and Jo were shocked by this information, but remained silent for some reason.

Dominic had forgotten that moment, but on reflection, he knew it to be true. He -DID- owe the Golden Yak for resurrecting him and a little knowledge could be reasonably divulged. "I will be seeking the Token of Wind in your region, but the only clue I have is that it is in the Shillong, India region. If you have any knowledge of its whereabouts, the aid would be most appreciated."

The Golden Yak quietly nodded her head, then said, "Odd. I was told that you planned on visiting Tibet. I see my source of information was incorrect. You will want to locate and speak with Garanti-Khan. He will be of the utmost use to you, if he doesn't eat you, that is."

Dominic said, "Huh? Who is Garanti-Khan and why would he want to eat me?"

Valerian Mouse replied, "Garanti-Khan is the local magi of India. He's a weretiger sorceror. One of the all time best. As for why he might eat you, he is also part rakshasa. You see, his mother was a full-blown weretigress, and his father was a powerful rakshasa. Their mating produced him and he studied long and hard to become a master of magic."

Dominic nodded his head as Valerian and the Golden Yak vanish from the room to parts unknown.

Jo stood up first. "You're on another adventure, aren't you?"

Dominic nodded his head again, explaining everything that has occured. When he finished updating them on the events, Sallee smiled and said, "Well, this time I can be of help without leaving Rocky Falls. I know where the Token of Void is. Unfortunately, I do not have a clue as to how you are going to get to it. It was included as part of the Voyager's cargo."

Dominic raised an eyebrow? "What's the Voyager?"

Sallee replied, "The Voyager is an exploratory space satellite. You know the one. It left our solar system a few years ago."

Dominic frowned. "Oh. But I need that Token. There must be a way for me to get to it, otherwise it would not have been included on the quest list."

Sallee hummed. "I cannot help you there, Dominic. But at least you know where it is now."

Leia stood up and grabbed her coat. "Thank you for tolerating us this evening, Dominic, but I need to get home and get some sleep. I have a bank meeting to attend in the morning." Leia headed out of the mansion.

Sallee grabbed her gear and said, "I have to get back to the TV station in time to make sure the 10 o'clock News happens without a hitch, but I hope you will keep us informed of your quest." Sallee then headed outside and got into her news van.

Jo looked to Dominic. "I'm still having trouble believing that you were dead once and that woman brought you back to life."

Dominic nodded his head. "It happened."

Jo grabbed her coat and hat, and headed out to her pickup truck to head home.

It was the next morning and Dominic was just sitting down in his chair in the den when Damon reappeared. Damon looked at Dominic with a troubled gaze. "We have a problem."

Dominic nodded his head. "What else is new? What problem did you encounter?"

Damon replied, "The demon cat who owns the Token of Fire wants to meet you, Dominic."

Dominic said, "Uh oh. Demon cat? His name wouldn't happen to be Lord Gonzalowyn, would it?"

Damon blinked his eyes in surprise. "How'd you know?"

Dominic simply sighed as he related how he had previously met Lord Gonzalowyn the last time he was in the Infinitum. "...so you see, he spoke up for me and I sort of skipped out on my agreement to clean his fortress."

Damon simply covered his eyes. "Collecting these Tokens doesn't get any easier, does it?"

Dominic shakes his head, saying, "Nope. The Furry Realms was the easiest one to get, looks like. So far. Looks like I'll have to go to the Infinitum after all, but at least we know who has the Token of Fire. We won't have to waste any great lengths of time in the Infinitum and hopefully, I can be out of there before anything damaging occurs."

Dominic gathered together Jago, Jonie and Reed, and told them of his need to go to the Infinitum and of the dangers of staying longer than five whole days. Jago and Jonie looked at each other, then back at Damon and Dominic. Reed remained silent as he had no intention of asking to attend.

Jago asked, "Is it possible for Jonie and I to come along and see all of the Infinitum within the five day block, then return here before anything bad happens?"

Damon hummed. "It's -possible- providing you have an escort worthy of your trust. Why do you want to see the Infinitum?"

Jago smiled. "You know us. We're computer game makers. Getting a visual of the Infinitum would be awesome for a game. Plus, no one will believe such a place could exist in the first place. So it's inclusion in a game would be terrific. Please let us see it all, Damon."

Dominic said, "Damon, why don't you give Jago and Jonie the full safe tour, minus the fifth circle beasts. Well, maybe you could let them -see- the beasts from that upper ledge and explain to these two what those beasts do." (See F8)"Mentally keep track of the time and teleport them safely out before the time limit. Then perhaps, teleport back to where you were and finish the tour of the Infinitum. Oh, and beware the electrified ladder on the second circle."

Damon nodded his head. "That is a good plan, Dominic. Just be careful around that demon cat. I don't trust demon cats in the first place."

Damon escorted Dominic, Jago and Jonie through his gateway into the Infinitum to the Primordial Ooze Circle on the Primordial Island. Since that last time, Damon and Dominic replaced the rowboat with a speed boat, similar to a Coast Guard cutter. They even erected a proper set of docks on both shores. Oddly, a demon town had grown on the Primordial Island and was populated by demons who agreed to live here peacefully. Dominic and party took the main boat over to the outer shore and proceeded up into Doctor Wilbur's basement and home.

Wilbur stood about five foot three inches tall and weighed about one hundred thirteen pounds. His cloven hooves were black, and his horse-like legs were a shiny bronze color. His tail, which was both striped and spotted with both gray and tan fur, extended about twenty six inches, ending in a bright yellow tuft of fur. Wilbur's torso, arms, hands, and head were that of a slender humanoid rat, and his eyes were a pale yet shiny red. He had short but cute whiskers sticking out of each cheek. Determining age was impossible on Wilbur, because if he was a demon like the others living in the Infinitum, then he was immortal, and would live forever and never change in appearance.

Wilbur was pleased to see Dominic and was introduced to Jago and Jonie. Wilbur then proceeded to serve tea and repeat a history of the Infinitum to Jago and Jonie...

Wilbur smiles and goes over to a nearby bookcase. He selects a book off the shelf, then seats himself close to Jago and Jonie. He opens the book and starts reading out loud. "The Infinitum. A place created by the arch angels of Nepherithea to house the demons of Earth whom had over run their bounderies and sought to harm the newly evolving human race."

He closes the book and looks to Jago and Jonie.

"Several hundred centuries ago, demons lived on the surface of your Earth in their own unique harmony. As was decided by the great balance, each demon had a purpose in the world. These purposes were categorized into the nine circles of importance. The first circle contained the heads of political hierarchy. They were in charge of making sure the rest of us did our assigned jobs. The second circle contained the generals of all the militant forces of the land. The third circle contained the great colleges of the demon mages. The fourth circle contained the overseers of all the elements. The fifth circle contained the non-humanoid beasts that served the generals of the second circle. The sixth circle contained the researchers, scientists, and other scholars of the demon court. The seventh circle contained the feudal lords of the humanoid demon wolves. They ruled over the demon wildcats of the eighth circle, who were in charge of guarding the gates of the mines, and also served as soldiers under the generals of the second circle. The ninth circle contained the miners, the farmers, the merchants, the servants, the slaves, and the thralls of all those who served in the upper eight circles. The final circle, which has no number, is called the base of primordial sludge. It is where new races or species could be drawn up from. That circle is directly below us right now."

Wilbur explains, "If you are a religious person, then you would believe that the human species was created by God, and eventually were sent out to slowly gain their foothold in their own lands. If you are not religious, then the following explanation will make more sense."

Wilbur says, "The human species crawled up out of the primordial ooze, having being made by a curious demon mage who was experimenting in creating his own servants. His experiment worked all too well. He ended up with a beautiful female human. He called her Eve because she had been created as the sun had been setting. The evening, or simply, Eve. The demon mage's name was Adamathicus, but he always called himself Adam. He was so in love with his creation, that he hid her presence from the other demon mages, who soon became much too curious to see what he had been up to before coveting whatever it was he was hiding. The demon mages reported Adam's activities to the first circle, and Adam was called forth to explain himself. The hierarchy was outraged when they learned what he had done."

Wilbur continues. "They removed all his powers, changed his appearance permanently, and sent him and his woman to the faraway land of Wazriel, an inhospitable land of sand and intolerable heat. But sending them there was a mistake, because the arch angels of Nepherithea lived within the center of that terrible desert. Adam and Eve found the paradise of Nepherithea, and set foot within. The arch angels greeted them kindly, and gave them a home in that land. When the arch angels learned of the demon's cruelty, they asked their own scholars to devise a way to contain the demons within another dimension. When the scholars finished their research, they presented the Key of Infinitum to the leader of the arch angels. He lead his people to the demon lands, surrounded those lands with his troops, and sent the demons, their land, as well as the original ooze which created humans in the first place, into a swirling vortex. The Demonic Gate to the Infinitum. But as the leader of the arch angels was using the key to lock the gate, it slipped from his fingers and fell through the closing vortex."

Wilbur smiles and continues. "The key itself is within this dimension somewhere, but no demon knows where, and every demon searches for it with a killing passion. If either of you were to find it, you could unseal the gate that holds the Infinitum within this dimension, and release it back to it's proper place on Earth."

Jago and Jonie are thankful for this information. Jago is already getting an idea for a new game centered on finding the key. Damon thanks Wilbur for the tea, and escorts Dominic and the others up and out of the Ninth Circle, Den'Ro, to the flaming landscapes of the Eighth Circle, Phelinheim. They immediately go to Lord Gonzalowyn's Keep, where the demon cat awaits Dominic's arrival. Dominic greets Gonzalowyn more properly this time, then introduces his friends. Dominic then nods to Damon, and Damon escorts Jago and Jonie onwards through Phelinheim to the ladder leading to the Seventh Circle, Battalis.

Gonzalowyn, once alone with Dominic, hugged the human tightly, much like a content cat would do with a favorite toy. "I am pleased to see you alive and well, Dominic."

Dominic, though polite, retained his resolve and said, "Please, Gonzalowyn. I am on a dangerous quest and have need of the Token of Fire. You told Damon that you had the Token and I really do need it. Name your price and I will pay it. Time is of the essence, as I am sure you very well know."

Gonzalowyn nodded his head, still holding Dominic, and said, "Cleaning my keep would take weeks and I hired other servants to do that job after you were rescued. There is an alternative desire or two that I have need of. The task may be unheard of and very difficult to succeed with, but you did say you would do anything to get the Token of Fire."

Dominic looked up at the demon cat.

Gonzalowyn released Dominic and walked over to a work desk. He picked up a chain leash and a set of collars. He walked back over and clasped one collar around Dominic's neck. Then he handed the leash and other collar to Dominic. "Go up to the Fifth Circle, clasp the other collar around the neck of one of the beasts there and bring the beast back to me here in Phelinheim."

Dominic started to agree to do this, then remembered something that Doctor Wilbur told him. "But that is impossible, Gonzalowyn. Demon denizens of their home circle are forbidden to descend to the circle below their home circle without clearance of a lord from a circle above their home circle. And the circle above the beast's circle is nothing but a tropical paradise and vast ocean. I'd have to go all the way up to the University Circle and ask someone for permission. And getting past those beasts is nigh to impossible at any rate."

Gonzalowyn again nodded his head and showed Dominic a scroll with the proper permissions signed. "As you can see, I already have the permissions to go collect one beast. But I have been busy forging an important item in my workshop and cannot possibly make the trip to get a beast. So you showing up now has occured at the right time for me. I'd ask you to stay here and forge the item for me in my workshop while I went and got the beast, but I'm not sure if you could do it."

Dominic hummed. "What are you making?"

Gonzalowyn said, "I have been commissioned to make a key to unseal the Demon Gate. If I fail, I will be slain. So you now see the importance of succeeding in this task. And I need a beast to complete the forging. So either way, a beast needs to be acquired. And I need another item to complete the key."

Dominic said, "Uh oh. What other item do you need?"

Gonzalowyn said, "I need either the blood of a human warrior of worth, or a good selection of his life's essence, otherwise known as, his seed." He didn't smile when he said this.

Dominic merely gazed unblinking at the demon cat. Then he took a breath and held out his arm. "Many think I am worthy, but I do not. Take what blood you need, Gonzalowyn. Then I will go and retrieve the beast for you. But remember this: I do this in exchange for the Token of Fire."

Gonzalowyn looked at Dominic's arm. "You'd give me your blood? Your seed would be easier to obtain. You must really be desperate to acquire the Token of Fire." The demon cat proceeded towards gathering the blood as carefully as possible. He certainly did not want an angry demon horse on his case for killing his human friend. Some moments later, the necessary blood was gathered in a moist container. "The collar you wear will allow you instantaneous travel from the Fifth Circle back to my workshop, but only after you clasp the other collar around a beast's neck. Now go."

Dominic, far more prepared this time for making such a trip, easily made his way through the Seventh Circle of Battalis, up and through the Six Circle of Liboramis, and into the dark maze-like tunnels of the Fifth Circle of Bestalis. He peered out of the cavern entrance into the beast's lair, and saw them all looking his direction. He has no intention of letting them mount him this time. Dominic only needed one of them.

Dominic said, "I know how much you all want to molest me again, but I am in a life threatening hurry. I need one of you to agree to come with me to Phelinheim. The proper permissions have been given already. Which one of you will come with me to Phelinheim?"

At first, none of the beasts moved at all.

Then, the largest among them stepped forward and actually spoke. "Dominic. We know why you are here. We beasts have a request, though not what you might expect." He paused for affect. "We would like you to petition the Lords of the Infinitum to allow the tribe of beasts to relocate to any location of our choosing. Do this for us, and one of our kind will go with you freely to Phelinheim. Will you help us?"

Dominic blinked his eyes. "You could speak all this time? Where do I find the Lords of the Infinitum and how can I get there?"

The beast spoke once again. "We can speak when we desire to. No one person or demon has ever visited us as often as you have, Dominic. I feel we can trust you. Will you aid us?"

Dominic hummed. "I will do what I can for you and your tribe. You have my word. Now, how can I find and speak to the Lords of the Infinitum?"

The beast smiled and approached Dominic. He raised himself up to lick Dominic's groin then further up to lick Dominic's face. "See the ledge above the cavern entrance? There is a teleport platform there. Stand on it and you will teleport to the First Circle of Govarnium. Once there, seek out the Hall of Binding Laws and the Lords you need to speak with will be within. We will give you unmolested passage through this chamber so you may get to the ledge." And the beast hounds did part the way to form a corridor to the ledge.

Dominic nodded and licked the beast leader back. "I will do what I can to see that your request reaches their ears." And he walked through the chamber, climbed the ledge, and made his way to the teleport platform. Dominic stood upon it, and found himself instantly in Govarnium.

Dominic then spoke with a demon guardsman and got directions to the Hall of Binding Laws. Surprisingly, the demons were polite and informative. And the directions prove to be correct. Dominic entered the great halls of the massive complex, and found himself before the ten lords of the Infinitum. Dominic wasted no time as he began by introducing himself properly, as would befit a knight greeting other lords. Then he proceeded toward making the request that the beasts had asked for. Dominic further explained why he was in the Infinitum this time, and on events of his quest up to that point. The ten lords listened patiently, then began discussing this request among themselves. Then after an hour or so, one lord turned to Dominic and asked, "How did you get into the Infinitum this time and how will you leave?"

Dominic honestly told them about the "back door" and of how it can transport people in and out, but would not transport the Infinitum itself back to Earth.

The demon lords resumed their discussion based on this new information.

Finally, in what seemed like many hours, a demon lord approached Dominic and said, "We will grant the beasts request on one condition. You must unseal the Demon Gate for us. Do this, and not only will the request be granted, but you will be made a lord within our society. What say you to this decision?"

Dominic didn't sigh, but that was what he felt like doing. "You realize that I would need the key to unseal the Demon Gate, don't you?"

The demon lord nodded his head.

Dominic hummed. "I will do what I can to unseal the Demon Gate. But I will need some information. First, the people who made the key originally. Where can I find them?"

The demon lord replied, "In the desert lands of Wazriel on Earth, you will find the arch angels of Nepherithea. It is they who made the Key of Infinitum and sealed us and our lands within this terrible prison. As you may have surmised, not all demon kind deserve to be imprisoned here. But the arch angels punished the whole species rather than the few who caused the problems orginally. Wazriel is most likely not called that today, so a bit of searching will be necessary in order to locate that fabled land."

Dominic nodded his head and asked, "And where was your lands originally located on Earth?"

The demon lord replied, "Our home continent of Agassia was located in the Southwest corner of a vast ocean. We would not know what that ocean would be called today, but under the proper research, I am sure someone on Earth knows where that location is. The world of Earth was vastly different in those days and I am sure I don't need to tell you that. Wazriel was located far to the Northwest of Agassia near an inland sea surrounded by three continents. Wazriel was in the Southeastern part of that inland sea. That is all I can tell you."

Dominic thanked the lords and properly saw himself out. He returned to the beasts on the Fifth Circle and relayed what the lords had said. The beasts nodded their heads and allowed Dominic to take one of their number on the collar back to Phelinheim on the Eighth Circle.

Gonzalowyn was surprised to see Dominic and the beast returned so quickly to his workshop. Gonzalowyn made use of the beast's fluids in the forging of the new key, which looked just like a key. Gonzalowyn then carefully handed the glowing red Token of Fire to Dominic, who was surprised by the Token's hotness and had to set it down immediately on the table. "Ow ow ow ow!"

Gonzalowyn chuckled. "What did you expect from the Token of Fire? It is naturally HOT. I can barely handle it myself and I am used to the heat."

Dominic blew on his fingers, then put on his sword gauntlet and picked up the Token of Fire. "I thank you for keeping your end of the bargain, Gonzalowyn."

Gonzalowyn unclasped the collar from Dominic and smiled. "I am likewise happy that you agreed to aid me in what I required. I would say we are even now. Your debt to me is cleared. And in gratitude for your aid to me, I will allow you to take the beast with you. I no longer have need of his aid. Any time you need my assistance, Dominic, you may call on me."

Dominic looked to the beast, who in turn looked to Dominic. Dominic said, "This isn't what I expected, Gonzalowyn. But I suppose I should not insult you by turning down so gracious a gift, if not a horny gift. I will give him a good home." I hope.

Gonzalowyn nodded his head and saw that Dominic and the beast were transported back to the Primordial Island, and not into the ooze itself. Once on the primordial island, Dominic sat down on the shore and petted the beast gently. "What am I going to do with you? It's wrong to take you away from your tribe and I live on Earth."

The beast replied, "Keep me in your home until the day you unseal the Demon Gate, then you may return me to my tribe. If anything, I am a comforting companion. That I swear."

Dominic gazed at the ooze as it slowly bubbled before him. He thoughts were calm, then he has a bizarre thought. He looked at the beast and asked, "What would happen if a human fell into the ooze but was able to get right back out almost immediately after being dunked in the goo?"

The beast seemed to know what Dominic was thinking. "This ooze created the first humans. Therefore, it might possibly make the human younger, alter his appearance, give him unusual powers and abilities, or even, change him into a demon. Who knows what might happen? Why do you ask?"

Dominic was already stripping down and placing his gear safely to one side. He looked to the beast and said, "Damon would call me crazy for doing this, but I have to know what will happen. My curiosity has a need to be satisfied. If I tie this rope around myself and go in, will you pull me out once I am submerged in the goo?"

The beast frowned but nodded his head. "I will pull you out or be dragged in with you. Personally, I would agree with Damon. This -IS- crazy. But I won't stop you."

Once the rope was secured around Dominic and the other end secured around the beast's neck, Dominic boldly stepped off into the bubbling ooze and was submerged immediately. The beast was almost dragged in as well, but quickly wrestled the situation into paw and pulled Dominic back out of the goo to the safety of the shore. Dominic didn't look any different, but smelled like aloe vera.

The beast asked, "Are you okay?"

Dominic blinked his eyes and looked at himself. "Yeah, I'm okay. I didn't change." Dominic picked up his gear and clothing, and with the beast, returned to the mansion through the gateway. Once there, Dominic and the beast went upstairs to his bedroom, and Dominic entered the shower to wash off the ooze. After he was thoroughly clean, he came out into the bedroom and lay upon his bed next to the beast. "The ooze didn't do anything to me, so I wonder if the stories are even true."

The beast nuzzled gently and said, "Tomorrow is another day, Dominic. Perhaps you will learn more then. Until then, let us both sleep." The beast lay his head in Dominic's lap and went to sleep.

Token of Earth... Token of Fire... All Tokens look alike... All were made at the same time... All Tokens had another purpose... The Token of Earth was a religious icon of the Furry Realms... The Token of Fire was...

Dominic awoke in a startled manner, his eyes opened wide and he was shaking as if cold. The beast was still asleep against Dominic's side. Dominic thought about the dream. All Tokens had another purpose. The Token of Fire. Could that have been the Key of Infinitum? He had to find out. He started to quietly get out of bed and the beast immediately exclaimed, "Where are you going?"

Dominic was getting dressed quickly now. "Back to the Infinitum. I think I know how to open the Demon Gate. If I'm wrong, then there is no harm done."

The beast looked down and said, "I have displeased you and you want me to return to my tribe."

Dominic stopped and glanced at the beast. "Not at all. It's just that I think I solved the key problem and I want to see if I am right. If you'd like, you can stay here as long as you'd like, but I have to know if I'm right."

The beast smiled and went back to sleep. Dominic continued to get dressed, then went downstairs and armored up in the rest of his gear. He grabbed the Token of Fire carefully, remembering that it was hot stuff, and headed back to the Infinitum.

Dominic soon found himself back in Govarnium in the Hall of Binding Laws. He addressed the Lords of the Infinitum cordially and politely. "There is something I want to try with the Demon Gate to open it. If I am wrong, then I will continue my search to find the way to open the gate, but this is something I must try. May I have permission to approach the Demon Gate at this time?"

The lords murmurred and discussed this quietly, then gave Dominic their answer. "You are given permission to approach and attempt whatever you are planning. We must also at this time ask if you will speak up for the life of Lord Gonzalowyn of Phelinheim. The key he made failed to open the Demon Gate and unless he is spoken for, then his life is forfeit."

Dominic blinked his eyes. He suddenly realized that Gonzalowyn's attempt couldn't possibly succeed and unless he spoke for the demon cat, then Gonzalowyn would be slain. He closed his eyes and said, "Allow me to take Gonzalowyn as my apprentice so that he may learn the error of his mistake. Merely slaying him will not educate him and will only serve to create greater fear in those you would expect loyalty from. Thus, I speak for Gonzalowyn."

The demon lords nodded their heads. "Lord Kestnorath was indeed correct about you, Dominic. Gonzalowyn is now yours. When you leave the Infinitum, you will take him with you. When you actually open the Demon Gate, Gonzalowyn will be allowed to return to his keep."

Dominic proceeded from the Halls of Binding Laws to where Gonzalowyn was being held and released him. "You are to come with me. I spoke for you. Sounds familiar, doesn't it?" Dominic led Gonzalowyn up to the Demon Gate. Once there, Dominic said, "What if I told you that you had possession of the Key of Infinitum the whole time and you gave it to me in exchange for services rendered?"

Gonzalowyn blinked his eyes. "But the only thing I gave you was..."

Dominic held up the Token of Fire. "...this, the Token of Fire. Also known as the Key of Infinitum. You had it all along and you gave it to me."

Gonzalowyn slapped his own forehead hard. "How could I have been so stupid?"

Dominic said, "Don't beat yourself too hard. You couldn't possibly have known that the key was not shaped like a key. Or at least, not like any key you had ever used before. I only found out through a dream." He turned and looked at the flat keyhole. "Well, here goes nothing." Dominic inserted the Token of Fire into the slot carefully and tried turning it both ways. He was pleased when the lock did indeed turn and even more pleased when an audible "CLICK" echoed all over the Infinitum. He quickly withdrew his hand and the Token of Fire, just as the huge seal evaporated and the Demon Gate opened wide!

There was a brilliant flash of holy light as all of the continents of the Infinitum were returned to Earth into it's rightful place in the South Pacific Ocean. The continent of Agassia was restored to it's former glory on the surface of the Earth. As it fully arrived in place, a barrier of mist and fog arose around the entire continent, and the continent became airborne in the sky, floating over the South Pacific Ocean region. The Ten Kingdoms of Agassia were restored!

A ceremony was held and Dominic was officially made a Lord of Agassia. Damon was in attendance with Jago and Jonie, and Damon approached Dominic, patting his shoulder. "Well done, Lord Dominic. I am pleased to be your friend. I will make sure that your deeds this day are not forgotten by demonkind. But your quest is far from over. Shall we return home now?"

PART THREE: TOKEN OF WATER

Jago and Jonie were sitting at their computer in the den/office recreating the Infinitum and it's release in virtual memory. Damon sat in his easy chair drinking beer. Shane is sitting in the other chair getting his weapons ready for the next part of the quest. Gotaki is quietly standing in a dark corner of the den/office awaiting word to go into action. Dominic was sitting at his desk checking all the email that had built up during his recent absence. There are several messages from Emperor Vrakmaz, his adoptive dragon father on the flying island of Thalugolos, the home of the dragons on Earth. He carefully answers these messages, and gives information on the restoration of Agassia. He then sends the return email, and proceeds to the rest of the messages. Finally, he sees the return message from Hieronymos Pollux.

**_>>>>> Hieronymos Pollux writes:

To my friend, Dominic Vanlyone

The Token of Water is known to me in a vague way. I double checked my knowledge by visiting Chiron on his island, and he verified what I suspected. The Token of Water was once owned by the wife of King Minos, Queen Pasiphae. She wore the item around her neck from a silvered chain necklace. The item was lost during the fall of the Minoan Empire, but rumor persists that the necklace was hidden in the Minotaur's Labyrinthe. Should you plan on going there, please use the utmost caution. I do not need to remind you that a clan of lusty minotaurs lives within those twisting curving tunnels, and they have no qualms over molesting a human, regardless of the gender.

Your friend always, Hieronymos Pollux_**

Dominic looks at the email message with a quiet studious expression. The Token of Water. Surely, a gift from Poseidon himself. He wondered if the sea god would want the item returned to him. Dominic looked up from his laptop and announced, "Who all would like to come along with me this time to the Greek Isles?"

The usual "I do!"s arose from Jago, Jonie, Shane, Damon and Gotaki. Dominic merely chuckled. Then he heard a surprising yet all too familiar voice in his doorway.

"The Greek Isles! A perfect place to do a segment on Greek Love Studs!"

Sallee Tanner was standing there with two of her overly shocked camera and equipment men.

Dominic scowled at Sallee's obvious lack of tact. "What do you think you are doing?! You know you are not supposed to just bring people in here! Now we'll have to calm your two friends and see that they don't blab anything they saw here to anyone else..."

Sallee glanced at her two friends and sort of frowned. "You guys were supposed to wait in the van." She chuckled and turned back to Dominic. "It is over 100 degrees outside today, Dominic. And even hotter in that TV van. So you cannot blame me for bringing them inside. I momentarily forgot that you have such interesting people staying at your mansion."

"More interesting than you know, little lady." The fifth circle beast padded in from the hallway and hopped on the couch, yawning. "This place is bigger than it looks, Dominic Vanlyone."

Dominic slapped his forehead. He had totally forgotten about the beast still being in the mansion.

Sallee looked at the large mastiff hellhound creature and exclaims, "What is that?"

Damon chuckled. "That, Sallee Tanner, is a Fifth Circle Beast. I do not know why it is here, but where Dominic is involved, such explanations are not always necessary."

Gotaki smiled. "King Lion keeps an interesting collection of followers, do you not agree?"

Sallee hummed and grinned with a wink. "'Interesting' is not the word I would use. More like 'bizarre'."

Dominic walked over to the beast and scratched it between the ears. "My friends and I have to go the Greek Isles to find the Token of Water. I had forgotten that you were here, my friend. I am reluctant to leave you behind all alone."

The beast murred and smiled. "Easy solution. I will come with you. If anything, we beasts are extremely good trackers, and I can fight, if need be."

Dominic turned to Sallee. "You know you can't just hop half way around the world any time you want to. What about K-JAG? Who is going to make sure it runs properly while you are in the Greek Isles?"

Sallee smiled. "It is all taken care of. Plus, Leia said she would drop by every day to remind them who has access to their bank accounts." She winked and grinned. "So I am all set to go!"

Dominic hummed. "How many 'Greek Love Studs' do you need?"

Sallee smiled. "Five will do. One for each day of the week. Whoops! Better make it seven, and the Sunday stud has to be reverent and full of grace!" She gave a big smile!

Dominic groaned and muttered, "Oh brother!" Then he stood up and said, "Everyone gather your gear. I am going to be transporting us straight to Athens, Greece. I have to check in with CHESS while I am there." (See F9)

Fifteen minutes later, Dominic's party found themselves inside the headquarters of CHESS in Athens Greece. Dominic made the appropriate arrangements, and soon set to work on creating the Mediterranean Portal Archway within an office compound that was solely created for Jansen Tanner's personal usage. The name on the office door in gold letters read: White Bishop - Jansen Tanner. Sallee was very impressed by all this. Jansen Tanner's personal CHESS compound was almost as large as the Missouri Mansion of Dominic Vanlyone. Sallee smiled as she toured the compound.

Sallee was soon watching Dominic as he and Hieronymos Pollux were looking over a modern survey map of the actual Cretian Maze, also known as, The Labyrinthe of the Minotaur. Sallee seemed enthralled by the handsome modern looking minotaur, and was actually quieter than she has ever been in all the time that Dominic has known her. The Fifth Circle Beast merely sat nearby listening the their plans as they were made. Damon and the others relaxed in various parts of the compound. Hieronymos brought Giles, a male satyr from Egidius Island, with him on the trip.

That evening, Dominic was surprised to be visited by Circe and her consort, Ren of the Northern Herd. Circe brought a fine dinner with enough prepared for all present. After dinner, Sallee and Circe talked about Sallee's TV segment that she intended to do and Circe seemed all too eager to help!

In the meantime, Ren joined Dominic, Hieronymos and Giles at the discussion table concerning The Labyrinthe and the Token of Water. There was much discussion over the expedition itself, until finally, the guys bunked together in one bedroom, and the gals bunked together in the other bedroom. For as large as the compound is, it was only designed primarily for two people.

The next morning, Circe escorted Sallee and the two K-JAG employees around Athens Greece, in search of... the most perfect Greek Love Studs! (Well, for humans, that is...)

Dominic, Shane, Jago, Jonie, Damon, Gotaki, the beast, Ren, Giles and Hieronymos, all boarded a private CHESS cargo plane, and fly to a private CHESS landing strip on the Island of Crete. Once there, Hieronymos leads the way to the secluded entrance of The Cretian Maze. Unlike the historic Labyrinthe, the Cretian Maze exists entirely underground. The party makes a permanent camp just within sight of the Maze's entrance. It is then that Hieronymos announces that he is not going within with Dominic. His only task within this area is another land survey job that his company was given, but he wanted to make sure Dominic and the others found the entrance. He also informs the party of the potential dangers within, and of the magical spell that is on the Maze. Once you enter through the entrance, you must solve the Maze in order to exit. Hieronymos also suggests that the Token of Water would most likely be kept within the elder minotaur's personal chambers, so an encounter with that minotaur is unavoidable. Hieronymos then wished Dominic good luck and heads out into the night towards his goal here on Crete.

Dominic addressed his friends. "As you know, none of the rest of you have to enter. The Token of Water is within, and I am the only one enquested to retrieve it. Should the rest of you enter and somehow get seperated from me, you are on your own. As Hieronymos told us, once you enter, backtracking to the entrance won't do you any good. You have to solve the Maze in order to escape it. Now I ask one last time: who is coming with me?"

Dominic is not surprised that everyone says that they are coming along. "Very well, my friends. Then let us proceed. I see no reason to wait until morning. It will be just as dark in there now, as it would be in the morning."

Ren says, "Circe asked me to make sure you made it out of this maze alive, hence why I am coming along. I have my orders."

Gotaki smiles. "I am not only your shadow of the night, but your priestess of Noktyrni. Like your Fifth Circle Beast, I can see in the dark. I need no light. So I have to come along."

The beast also smiles. "I already told you, Dominic. My sense of smell is very sharp. I may not be able to solve a maze, but I can tell you where a minotaur has walked or is standing."

Giles replies, "I have been told that wild minotaurs love music, and as a satyr, I am well versed in playing the musical tones from my panpipes."

Damon winks and grins. "As demon General Kestnorath, my senses are also keen, and I too can see in the dark. And at the moment, I am your only mage."

Jago and Jonie chuckle. Then Jago says, "This maze is like a game. Dangerous, granted, but a game none the less. And as masters of games, Jonie and I have the best chance of solving this maze among anyone here."

Jonie nods and says, "Besides, we want to see if we can do it."

Shane was laughing. "Man, are you guys ever unprepared! Good thing I am a Marine or we would really be in trouble. I brought a supply of light sticks, phospherous chalk for marking directions, rations for several weeks, and some walkie talkies. And... I got my weapons and I am not afraid to use them. Just in case."

Dominic is not facing his friends. He is in truth trying to keep from laughing. Shane hands out supplies to everyone who might need them, and instructs the others in the usage of the light sticks and walkie talkies. Once prepared, Dominic leads the party into the entrance of the maze.

After what seemed like many days, and literally hundreds of look alike corridors and tunnels, Dominic and his friends approached the first minotaur chamber. The beast quietly relays that there are six male minotaurs within: two on guard and the other four seem to be playing with each other's bodies. Gotaki slips away and returns confirming that the two minotaur guards are adults, and the four others are approximately teenagers, in roughly loose human terminology. The beast also suggests that from the scent, there are female minotaurs within these tunnels, as well, though where exactly, he cannot say. Dominic suggests the direct approach, for he has no intention of injuring children, no matter what the species, and he lets his friends know this!

The minotaurs prove to be not as lusty as Hieronymos first suggested, and actually banter calmly with Dominic and his friends. After a show of friendship, which resulted in sharing one of the jugs of wine that Giles had wisely brought, one of the guards agrees to escort Dominic's party to the Elder's Chambers. This greatly sped up the trip through the Maze. They entered the second chamber, which indeed did contain female minotaurs, then travelled further through two more chambers each having even more minotaurs of various ages. Finally, after going through some secure tunnels, the party arrives within the Elder's Chambers. Their escort announces the party to the Elder, then leaves rapidly to return to his post.

The Elder proves to be the chief minotaur shaman for the tribe. He politely listens to Dominic's request, then suggests that everyone be seated. Once everyone is seated, the minotaur shaman smiles, and says, "I am willing to release the Token of Water into your hands, human, providing that you each give me something of worth to match the Token's value. But before you become upset, let me explain. I want each of you to entertain me with either a story, a song, or anything else that you believe I will find worthy of my attention. Do this for me and the Token of Water will be yours." He takes a breath. "Who will be first?"

Dominic is surprised by this request. It is not what he expected from proposed wild and lusty minotaurs. He stands up and walks to the center of the chamber. He decides to relate all of his adventures, to date, for the Elder's listening pleasure. When Dominic finishes, he resumes his seat, and glances at the Elder cautiously.

The Elder merely nods, and says, "Who will be next?"

Shane decided to go next. He gets up and proceeds to the center of the chamber. Then he begins to relate an old indian story that an indian shaman friend of his told him when he was young. When Shane finishes, he too resumes his seat.

The Elder again merely nods, and says, "Who will be next?"

Jonie relates a story he knows of Kanuk, leader of a northern wolf pack, and how they solved a problem between tribes.

The Elder again merely nods, and says, "Who will be next?"

Jago describes Morphis Software's last released huge video game hit, what it was about, and about each of the included characters.

The Elder again merely nods, and says, "Who will be next?"

Damon recites some Agassian poetry.

The Elder again merely nods, and says, "Who will be next?"

The Fifth Circle Beast sings a hellhound song.

The Elder again merely nods, and says, "Who will be next?"

Giles gives the shaman two jugs of wine, then plays his panpipes in a cheerfully arrousing way.

The Elder drinks some wine, then nods, and says, "Who will be next?"

Ren plays his instrument producing an uplifting song to raise people's spirits.

The Elder again merely nods, and says, "Who will be next?"

Gotaki nods and enters the center of the chamber. She explains that the Fur-Noh that she is about to perform has only been seen by extremely important lords, and never performed anywhere else. Then she begins her performance. Her moves slow. Her motions hypnotic. When the performance ends, Gotaki is not where everyone was watching, but is standing behind the Elder with one of her Shadow Blades to his throat. Gotaki removes the blade carefully, and replaces it within its scabbard. She explains at that point, the important lord she would be entertaining would die. Totally unknowing that he had been slain. Only that he knew peace in the end. Gotaki resumes her seat quietly.

The Elder appears quite impressed. He then stands up and approaches a large trunk. He opens the massive trunk and pulls out the Token of Water. He closes the trunk and delivers the item to Dominic's hands. "Your lady friend has indeed given me something of worth. My life. To be honored enough to witness the Dance of Death and live to see another day is indeed a priceless gift. Dominic, I now give you the Token of Water that you have sought. All I ask is that you take my son with you, and train him in the ways of the outside world. Will you do this?"

Dominic was again surprised. "Um, where is your son? And once he learns of the outside world, what do you want me to do with him?"

The Elder rings a chime, and a young male minotaur, roughly Dominic's age, enters from a side chamber. The Elder explains to his son what is taking place, and the young minotaur nods his head. The Elder then looks to Dominic and replies, "From now on, my son is your servant or companion or whatever else you wish to do with him. He will live with you and learn of the outside world. He is yours now."

Damon mutters something he hadn't muttered in years. "Dominic, you will -DEFINITELY- need to get a zookeeper's license."

Dominic barely heard Damon's remark and said to the Elder, "I will do as you ask, but he is a free minotaur and may leave my service whenever he likes." He looks to the young minotaur. "And what is your name, my friend?"

The young minotaur replies, "My name is Evin Thain and I am now yours, Dominic Vanlyone. May I serve you proudly."

Dominic blushes at this. "Okay, Evin Thain. I will call you Evin. And you will call me Dominic. I will see to it that you receive an education of the outside world." Dominic turns to the Elder. "I am not worthy of this, but I will do my best. I promise you."

The Elder nods his head.

The rest of that day is spent with a great feast and festive celebration of some sort. Dominic and the others have no choice but to attend and participate in this event. The next morning, Dominic awakens with Evin in his arms. He sighs quietly and slowly gets dressed for the journey out of the labyrinthe. The trip through the tunnels seems to go quickly, and soon, they emerge from the exit into the open air. They had solved the Cretian Maze. Hieronymos Pollux is awaiting them in the permanent camp, and is surprised to see Evin. Dominic explains what all happened, and why they now have Evin in their party. Hieronymos nods his head and helps Dominic pack up the campsite.

PART FOUR: TOKEN OF WIND

Some hours later, Dominic and his friends are back in Athens, Greece, in his compound discussing the journey and the events that occured within. Hieronymos and Giles soon leave back to the Hidden Islands, and a few days later, Sallee and Circe return from covering the 'Greek Love Studs' TV special segment. Circe speaks with Dominic, then takes Ren and departs for her own hidden island. Sallee is tickled and giddy with excitement. She got her whole segment covering seven of the sexiest hunks to ever walk the Greek shores. Sallee hugs Dominic for allowing her to come with him this time, and she too collects her crew and heads back through the portal gateway to the Missouri Mansion. Damon volunteers to take the Beast and Evin back to the mansion, and help the minotaur get settled in. Soon, only Shane, Jago, Jonie and Gotaki are at the discussion table with Dominic. The subject is the Token of Wind.

Dominic says, "My only clue is that the Token of Wind can be found in the Shillong, India, region. The Golden Yak suggested that I gain an audience with Garanti-Khan, the local mage there, and ask him about the Token of Wind. Now again, I already know the answer, but who wants to come along?"

Again everyone volunteers to come along, and again a very familiar voice is heard from the portal gateway.

"You did say Shillong, India, right? If so, I might tag along to visit with an online investor friend of mine who lives there." Leia Tanner wearing her business clothes is standing there.

Dominic glances at Leia. "At least you have the courtesy to show up alone. Don't you have a bank to run?"

Leia smiles. "Yes, but not on weekends. It is Friday afternoon back in Rocky Falls, and I have the whole weekend free. And don't worry: my only interest in Shillong is visiting my online investor friend."

Dominic nods and replies, "And what is your online investor friend's name?"

Leia responds, "His online name is Garanti-Khan, but other than that, I don't know much about him. Why do you ask?"

Dominic is slapping his forehead. "Oh my god! Leia, Garanti-Khan is the local mage in Shillong, India, that I need to speak with. Are you even aware of who your friend is?"

Leia arches an eye. "No, but I am sure you will tell me. Right?"

And Dominic reminds her of what the Golden Yak and Valerian Mouse told them the other night.

Leia pales a bit. "No, there is no way it could be the same person. Now I want to know for sure. I am coming with you."

Dominic sighs and nods his head. There is no saying no to his sisters.

About an hour later, and the use of a shimmering air gate, Dominic, Shane, Jago, Jonie, Gotaki and Leia are walking the streets of Shillong India. Leia takes specific note of merchants and bankers, and how they operate here, and together with the Dominic's party, they emerge into an open market on the outskirts of the city. As they are looking around from booth to booth, someone bumps into Dominic rather suddenly. "Oops, sorry." Dominic exclaims.

That someone stops and turns to look directly at Dominic. "Dominic Vanlyone? What brings you to Shillong, India?" The person before him is Nikon Procyos.

Dominic blinks his eyes. "Nikon, my gods! You have changed quite a bit. I would never have recognized you. Let me look at you." He looks over her local garb of dress with interest. As he is looking Nikon over, a non-descript male turns from one booth and seems to take interest in the person checking Nikon out.

"Nikon, is this man bothering you?" he says.

Nikon looks over to the handsome young lad and replies, "No, Gomi. This is an old friend of mine from back home. I was just asking him why he is here in Shillong."

Gomi replies, "OK. I was worried that you might be in trouble with this man." Gomi turns to Dominic. "I am Nikon's fiance', Gomi Oki'nathi." (See F11) He holds out his hand.

Dominic shakes Gomi's hand. "I am Dominic Vanlyone. As for why I'm in India, I am on a dangerous quest to find the Token of Wind which is supposed to be in this region. The Golden Yak suggested that I speak to Garanti-Khan about the Token's whereabouts." He releases Gomi's extremely warm grasp. Too warm.

Gomi nods his head. "The Token of Wind is known to me. But perhaps you should go speak to the mage first. After he is done with you, and if you still live, seek Nikon and I out, and I will tell you what I know of the Token of Wind." He looks to Nikon and smiles. "Nikon and I are staying at the Shillong Hilton Hotel just over there." He points to a building.

Of course Dominic and his party glance that way. When they turn back, both Nikon and Gomi are gone. Not run off into the crowd. Just gone!

Eventually, Dominic and his friends locate the compound of Garanti-Khan, and make a request of the gate guardian for an audience with the mage. After what seems like an hour, the gate guardian allows the party entrance to the compound itself. Dominic and his friends soon find themselves before Garanti-Khan himself as he is finishing a rather unappetizing looking meal.

"Salutations my friends. I do not gain visitors very often. Particularly not while I am having a meal. State your business then please leave. Watching me eat is not for those of weak stomachs."

Dominic introduces himself by name, and gives the names of his companions and finally, of his sister, Leia Tanner. Dominic then proceeds to explain about his quest and of his need for the Token of Wind. Dominic then becomes quiet gazing at the food on the platter. "Um, is your meal delicious?" Dominic asks.

Garanti-Khan glances up with a smile. "Very delicious. Would you like a sample?"

Dominic realizes he has fallen into a challenge, and replies, "I would like to sample it, yes. But I cannot take food that you have claimed for yourself."

Garanti-Khan continues to smile, licking his lips. "There is plenty here for two people. Come sit beside me and help me finish this off." His eyes seem to further say, 'If you dare...'

Dominic gulps quietly. No way out of this now. The challenge was made and he accepted the guantlet. Dominic walks over and seats himself beside the mage and lowers his face to the meaty yet bloody meal, and takes a bite. Whatever it was he cannot guess, but he refuses to let a mage get the better of him, so he quietly helps Garanti-Khan finish the meal.

Once the platter has been thoroughly cleaned, Garanti-Khan offers Dominic some wine. Dominic accepts this and starts to drink from the container. When he tries to stop, Garanti-Khan forces Dominic to swallow all of the contents of the container. Dominic finally catches his breath, and passes out on the pillows and cushions.

...the hunt ...I scent my prey ...the okapi ...the chase ...I leap ...the kill ...I feed ...I am the king of the pride ...I am King the Lion

Dominic awakens in a cold sweat. He pants heavily as he lays naked on the bed in the small bedroom he has been layed out in. He feels something wet on his mouth and chin. Blood. Not his own, he discovers. But where did the blood come from? He slowly gets up and realizes that his clothing is not here. Dominic peeks outside of the curtain. He sees Garanti-Khan sitting in a larger bedroom smoking from a bong. He also sees his clothing folded neatly beside the mage. No one else is in sight. Dominic emerges from the bedroom and walks over to seat himself near the mage.

Dominic asks, "What did you do to me?"

Garanti-Khan pauses and replies, "I allowed your true side to emerge. I meant no harm. Your true form is not what I was expecting. After you returned to your senses, I laid you out in that bedroom. Are you well enough?"

Dominic sighs. "I think I am okay. Where did this blood come from?"

Garanti-Khan replies, "It is okapi blood. You made a kill and you fed. I was lucky to return you to your normal human form. As I said, your other form is not what I was expecting."

Dominic nods his head and looks around. "Where are my friends and my sister? Are they safe?"

Garanti-Khan nods his head. "I gave them guest bedrooms away from this chamber. Naturally they were concerned when you passed out and changed form right in front of them. I kept you safe, Dominic. Or as Gotaki Riverclaw calls you: King Lion. Which I find more appropriate considering your true form. From your work for the White Stag, I expected to see a white stag before me; not a white lion. You are a surprising person, Dominic. I just wish I could likewise surprise you by telling you where the Token of Wind is. Alas, I do not have a clue where it is. I apologize."

Dominic nods his head again, apparently not taking this bit of news well at all. A white lion. Him. That would explain his dream. Except it was not a dream. He hunted and killed an okapi. He called himself King the Lion. And his friends saw him change into a white lion. There was no telling what they thought or are thinking of him now. Would they fear him? What of his friend the White Stag? Would he disown knowledge of knowing him? Dominic slowly rises and returns to his bedroom and lays himself on his bed again. His troubled thoughts of his true form were preventing him from functioning correctly now. Dominic falls asleep once again.

Come the morning, Dominic is clean and reclothed, though his feelings are not as they were before this quest. Garanti-Khan helps Dominic walk over to Shane, then suggests heavily that Shane take Dominic to Nikon and Gomi at the hotel. Garanti-Khan appears very sorry for what has happened here. Leia opts to stay behind and visit with Garanti-Khan in a more financial light.

Shane and the others guide the despondant Dominic to the hotel where they slowly locate the room of Nikon and Gomi. When they arrive, Nikon is not there, but Gomi is. He allows them entry, and begins looking over Dominic carefully. The others sit back and watch.

Nikon soon returns and prepares tea for everyone while Gomi works on Dominic. Finally, Gomi rises and looks to everyone. "This is beyond my ability to repair. Only the great healers of the Tah'nuki Clan might be able to help him now. My meager abilities are not enough."

Jago asks, "Who are the Tah'nuki Clan? Where can we find them?"

Gomi exclaims, "They are a people who live on a mountain located between the territories of both the Oki'nathi Clan and the Gry'foso Clan. The Tah'nuki can cure Dominic; I am sure of it." Gomi proceeds to offer to escort the party to the Tah'nuki Clan's mountain, and gain them an audience with their healers. Nikon grabs her camera and grins, saying that she is coming along.

Gomi leads the party through the hills and jungles for several days. Then, they arrive on the mountain and climb up to the iron bound gates imbedded into the mountain itself. Gomi rings the chime and waits for someone to appear. A small window opens, and a raccoon-like creature pokes its head out. Gomi begins talking to the creature in a forgotten tongue. Several gestures are made towards Dominic during this discussion. Gomi turns to the party. "He will allow you to see the healers. When he opens the gate, your party may enter, but Nikon and I cannot enter. We are forbidden. So when you are done here, have one of the Tah'nuki direct you to the Oki'nathi Gateway. Nikon and I will be there awaiting you. Good luck and farewell." Gomi leads a disappointed Nikon off and down the mountain.

After Gomi has left, the gates open a bit, and the party help Dominic inside. The gates are closed once again. The raccoon creature leads the party deep into the mountain and into the healer's quarters. The raccoon creature explains to a healer raccoon creature 'something', then departs.

The healer walks over and takes Dominic by the hand, and leads him to a bed, and lays Dominic on it. A curtain is drawn, and the rest of the party are taken to a banquet hall and served lots of food and drink.

Shane says, "Do you realize that we cannot understand a thing these people are saying?"

Gotaki nods her head. "I can understand a smattering of what they are saying, but nothing demeaning is being said about any of us. Well... except for the man who smells like a cat."

Shane replies, "Dominic won't like that at all. I hope the healers can help him."

Gotaki hums. "What he likes or not is regardless. He is what he is, and we must accept it. If anything, Dominic has an added advantage now. His true form could be of great use to us at a later time. It might even save our lives."

Jago asks, "Save our lives? How do you mean?"

Gotaki glances at Jago. "When I first met Dominic, something about him smelled non-human. The second time I met him, I had a better look at his aura. Dominic -IS- a white lion. He must accept it, or he will destroy himself. I call him King Lion not only because his aura suggests a lion, but because his name literally means 'the people's ruler' and 'the lion'."

Jonie hums. "What can we do to make him feel more at ease with his 'gift'?"

Gotaki smiles. "Nothing. Treat him as you have always treated him. No special treatment. And no noticeable fear either. If he notices you cringing every time he enters the room, that will hurt him even more. Might even drive him away and force him to become the lion he is. And that would be very bad. Dominic needs to be convinced that what happened to him was a fluke, and not likely to ever happen again, unless he wills it. Show him your support. Be his friend."

Shane nods his head, "Then that's what we will do. Though I must admit that I almost wet myself when he changed like that. I was sort of excited in an odd sort of way."

Gotaki laughs. "I think we all were excited. I felt joy when I saw him become a lion."

Jago says, "In that case, I think I know how to get Dominic's juices flowing again."

Shane arches an eye. "How's that?"

Jago replies, "We remind him of what some shmuck did to that poor white stag and that he's the only one who can properly avenge that deer."

Gotaki smiles. "It sounds dangerous but should be effective. I agree with that course of action."

Shane and Jonie both agree to this as well.

It had been decided.

The Tah'nuki healers are able to repair Dominic's memory by cloaking the hunting dream/memory, and deepening it within Dominic's mind. To be released when Dominic's mind can accept the power he possesses now. They escort Dominic to the communal guest bedrooms, and lay him gently on one of the beds. The healers leave, and another Tah'nuki enters to keep watch over Dominic for the night.

Dominic awakens in the middle of the night shivering. His teeth chattering. The Tah'nuki climbs in bed with Dominic and warms him up with his own furry body heat. Dominic drifts back to sleep.

_...Dominic Vanlyone ...You are our voice on Earth ...Have you forgotten us?

...No, I have not forgotten you

...You agreed to our tests and passed all four ...When you took my place, you did not show fear and shame then ...Why do you show fear and shame now?

...I don't know ...The hunt and the okapi blood is not what I was expecting_

...You became a Cardinal Lion of the South ...And does this frighten you? ...White is the color of purity, Dominic Vanlyone ...Our voice on Earth must be prepared to become what we tell you to become ...Will you become what we tell you to become?

...I will become what you say ...I will not forget again ...I am your voice...

Dominic awakens slowly as the Tah'nuki guard gently shakes Dominic's shoulder. The guard gently smiles and speaks in his own tongue, but for some reason, Dominic can fully understand the words.

"Are you okay? You were talking in your sleep. You said that you were their voice on Earth."

Dominic was surprised that he could understand the Tah'nuki. "The Cardinal Spirits. I am their voice on Earth." (See F12)"I had forgotten. They were reminding me that I serve them. The white lion I became was part of the reminder. A Cardinal Lion of the South. I will not forget again."

The guard smiled. "Do you know where you are?"

Dominic blinked his eyes, but he did not recognize the surroundings. He focused on the Tah'nuki carefully, then felt him, examining him gently. "No. Where am I? What are you? How come I can understand your language?"

The guard leaned forward, licking and kissing Dominic's mouth, saying, "If you serve the Cardinal Spirits as you say, then no language is unknown to you. I am a Tanuki guardsman and you are in the Tah'nuki Clan Mountain. This is our home. This is your home. I am you. You are me." He kissed Dominic again and slowly caressed Dominic's body with his furry paws. Dominic closed his eyes and murred gently from the gentle massage. The Tanuki's paws continued to explore Dominic's body...

Dominic blinked his Tanuki eyes gently. The Tanuki guard takes Dominic out on a tour of the rest of the Mountain. They see everything, and play many games, and many tricks. Dominic even sees his friends talking about Dominic's condition and of the quest. The quest. Dominic remembers the quest.

Dominic wakes up the next morning as a human. The Tanuki guard is asleep on top of him. Dominic feels a little stiff, yet at the same time, extremely refreshed. Dominic smiles as he savors the Tanuki romp, whether a dream or reality, the whole experience was wonderful. It made him feel more alive. It refreshed him from all of his problems and worries. He caresses the Tanuki on top of him and smiles. The Tanuki guard awakens and likewise smiles and says, "Did you like it?"

Dominic replies, "It was the greatest. Thank you for sharing the experience with me."

The guard continues to smile. "Call me Zaruk'tahni. I am you. You are me. I loved walking around in your body, as well."

Dominic is not surprised. He is simply happy. He knows not why, but he feels as if he has been reborn. "Zaruk'tahni. I am you. You are me." Dominic kisses the Tanuki guard again. "We are Tanuki."

Zaruk'tahni smiles. "We are." He kisses back, then slides out of bed rubbing himself. "Your clothing is on that table. Get dressed then I will take you to breakfast. Daruk'tahni." He giggles then smiles kindly.

Dominic gets out of bed and looks at himself. He is enormously arroused. Dominic blush slightly, then sets about trying to get dressed. Although these are his clothes, for some reason, he no longer feels comfortable with them. Finally, he turns to Zaruk'tahni and says, "Why do you call me Daruk'tahni?"

Zaruk'tahni replies, "I am you. You are me." That seems to be the definitive answer.

Dominic blinks his eyes and ponders this answer. Then it hits him. This Tanuki must have mated with him, and the vows were the phrase of 'I am you. You are me.', and Dominic repeated those words. He looks to his Tanuki friend. He kneels down, then hugs and kisses Zaruk'tahni. "You could have warned me, but I am not upset. I feel very happy. But I cannot stay. I am on a quest as was given to me by my friend the White Stag."

Zaruk'tahni nodnodnods his head. "I know. But who says that you can only have one mate. You have the White Stag's scent all over you, but we Tanuki are not picky in who we choose. Besides, you seem to be enjoying the permanent gift that I have engifted on your penis and scrotum."

Dominic nods his head rubbing it slightly. "Polygamy. I suppose there is nothing wrong with having more than one mate. And I am enjoying this gift. Shall we go to breakfast now?"

At the breakfast table, Dominic is reunited with his friends. He greets them all with a cheery hello, then seats himself beside his Tanuki friend. Shane and the others are surprised by how happy Dominic appears. Shane whispers to Gotaki and the others, "That must have been one HELL of a cure for Dominic to be acting like that. It's almost like he's never been wounded in his life."

Gotaki whispers back. "I think that happiness is not part of the cure, but part of something that happened later." She smiles. "And I think he is not displeased at all."

After breakfast ends, Dominic is escorted away from the others once again. He is taken to another chamber where the Tanuki clan leader resides. He listens to Zaruk'tahni's words, then looks to Daruk'tahni and speaks to him about Tanuki life, asking Dominic to uphold the beliefs of this clan for eternity. Dominic agrees to do so. The leader then kisses Zaruk'tahni's forehead while stroking his member, then turns to Dominic and kisses his forehead while stroking his member. Dominic is somewhat tickled by this but allows it. Then Dominic finds himself in a Tanuki body once again. The leader smiles and explains that Daruk'tahni has now acquired his Tah'nuki Clan body to use whenever he visits here. Dominic asks the leader if he may set up a Portal Gateway within the mountain, so that he may have a quick way to return to this area. After much discussion, permission is given to erect such a Portal Gateway. Not inside the mountain, but on top of it in an area designated for such meetings and arrivals. Dominic returns to his human form, and is escorted up to that arrival area. Dominic spends the next hour setting up this Portal Gateway between here and his Missouri Mansion. When he is finished on both sides, he is escorted back into the mountain and rejoins his friends.

Dominic says, "This was a worthy trip. I am glad we came here. Now, let us find that Token of Wind. We have a quest to complete!"

Shane and the others walk with Dominic out of the mountain to the arrival plateau. Jago sees the Portal Gateway and exclaims, "So -THAT- is what you are so happy about. You set up another Gateway to your mansion."

Dominic smiles. "Yes. That is part of it." He chuckles. "I think we should go find Gomi and Nikon now. I got directions to the Oki'nathi Entry Gateway."

Gomi is happy to see that Dominic has recovered from his ordeal. Dominic nods his head, then asks to speak to Nikon in private. Nikon and Dominic enter a private alcove and Dominic changes into his Tanuki body for Nikon's benefit. Nikon smiles, but does not take any pictures. Nikon asks questions about Tanuki life, and Dominic tells Nikon all she craves to know about them that he had learned. Then, Dominic changes back into his human form, and they rejoin the others.

The discussion about the Token of Wind was a pretty hot subject in this region. It seems that the Token of Wind is part of a trophy for an annual aerial event held for all flying races and species within Asia. The trophy was currently missing due to the mishandling of the last winners, the Gry'foso Clan. Gomi explains that the Gry'foso Clan is composed of gryphons. Dominic places a hand over his eyes. Gomi nods his head and further explains that outsiders are generally not welcome in the Gry'foso Clan's territory. But because they lost the trophy, a massive search of the whole region was being conducted to reclaim the trophy, but nothing had been found yet. Gomi explains that the fear was that a human had found the trophy and was keeping it. Dominic moans a little. He thanks Gomi for his information, then leads his friends back to Shillong, India to pick up Leia, and so he could speak to Garanti-Khan once again.

Back in Shillong, Dominic and the others are walking through the bizarre looking at the goods and items for sale. Suddenly, something catches Dominic's eye. The item is being worn around an American man's neck. Dominic cannot believe what he sees. It was the Token of Wind. Dominic approached the man and offered to buy him lunch.

Once seated and served in the restaurant, Dominic introduced himself as Jansen Tanner, Chess Operative, but known as Dominic Vanlyone in the United States.

The man introduced himself next. "I am Professer Andros Kontaro and I study the field of herpetology." (See F13)"I am currently trying to track down the lost civilization of Thalugolos."

Dominic blinked his eyes. His mouth was agape.

Prof Kontaro notices this reaction and exclaims, "You have heard of Thalugolos?"

Dominic gulps and tries to recompose himself quickly. "Um... That is... Yes... I know about Thalugolos... In fact... I have been there..."

It is Prof Kontaro's turn to look surprised, but only for a moment. "Truly. And who was their ruler? Can you tell me that?"

Dominic hums. "The ruler of Thalugolos currently is Emperor Vrakmaz, who is an esteemed father, great ruler of Thalugolos, teacher of knowledge, trainer of skills, he who is called a friend."

Prof Kontaro is very impressed by this. "So you have been there. Can you take me there? I have longed to join the Thalugolons in their society. I want to learn all I can from them."

Dominic said, "Uh oh. I would have to gain my adoptive father's permission to bring another human into his well hidden home. But in return, you have something that I desperately need. The Token of Wind that you wear around your neck. Where did you acquire it?"

Prof Kontaro explains how he had found a particularly ugly artifact broken in two pieces on the ground in the jungle with the Token of Wind lying nearby. Dominic asks where the artifact is now, and Prof Kontaro opens his satchel and places the two parts of the 'thing' on the table. Dominic looks it over, then announces that he can fix this. Then Dominic asks Kontaro if he would be willing to part with the Token of Wind.

Prof Kontaro replies, "If you can get me into Thalugolos, I will give you the Token of Wind. I think that is a fair exchange. Can you help me?"

Dominic collects the artifact, then takes the professer outside the restaurant to where his companions are awaiting. Dominic explains that Kontaro will be accompanying them now. Kontaro seems surprised by the statement, but goes along with it as long as it gets him into Thalugolos.

Dominic again meets with Garanti-Khan within his private chambers and discusses a great deal of topics with the mage. After making a deal with Garanti-Khan, the small bedroom that Dominic slept in before is transformed into a Portal Gateway arrival chamber. Dominic escorts his friends, as well as Leia and Kontaro, through the newly created Portal to his Missouri Mansion.

Kontaro looks around in amazement. "You mean we are back in the United States already?"

Dominic sits down at his laptop and gets online to send a special email to Vrakmaz concerning Kontaro's request. "Yes. We are back in the United States."

Leia smiles. "Thank you for letting me go see my friend, Dominic. I will return the favor someday. Now I should get back into Rocky Falls and make sure my bank is still there." Leia leaves.

Damon, the beast hound, and Evin enter the den/office at that point. Damon sits in his favorite chair and opens a beer. "Back so soon, Dominic? Who is your new friend?"

Dominic does not even bother to look up as he writes the email. "That is Professor Andros Kontaro. He is a herpetologist. He is wanting to go live with Vrakmaz and the other dragons."

Damon chuckles.

Kontaro blinks his eyes when he sees the demons and the minotaur. Then he takes another look at Gotaki who is again standing in her favorite corner. Then he went and looked over Dominic's shoulder at the laptop. "I am not dreaming, am I?"

Dominic smiles. "No, you are not dreaming. This is my reality and you are requesting to become part of it." He smiles again when he sees the private message window from Vrakmaz pop up. He opens it and reads the return message.

>>> Vrakmaz: The request is not an unheard of desire and the dragons here are craving contact with another human.

>>> thewhitestag: His name is Professer Andros Kontaro. I have been calling him Kontaro. He is a herpetologist. He currently possesses the Token of Wind and is willing to exchange it with me in exchange for being allowed to come join you and your dragons in Thalugolos.

>>> Vrakmaz: You know only dragons are permitted to actually dwell here in Thalugolos. How can we resolve this issue?

>>> thewhitestag: What if I gave him the Dragon Ring you gave to me? I do not really need it now, for I can use the power the Cardinal Spirits gave me to automatically change into Valaru Eldenmal at will. What do you think of this plan of action?

>>> Vrakmaz: That is an excellent idea. Please escort Kontaro here to Thalugolos, then resume your human form in my presence. Then we will give Kontaro the Dragon Ring. See you soon.

Dominic closes down the laptop's Internet connection and looks to Kontaro's surprised reaction.

Kontaro says, "The dragons have access to the Internet? I would never have guessed that. What exactly is the Dragon Ring?" Dominic shows Kontaro the ring he wears on his hand. Kontaro examines it with interest. "It is an original Thalugolon artifact! I am very impressed. When can we go join the dragons?"

Dominic replies, "First things first. The Token of Wind, as you promised, if you please."

Kontaro nods his head and gives Dominic the Token of Wind. Only one Token remaining to collect. Dominic escorts Kontaro outside to the gazebo where Dominic then activates the ring's power. Derek is immediately transformed into a massively large dragon of scintillating colors. His scales constantly changing colors as if alive. His eyes remain hazel, an odd color for any dragon. His wings unfold revealing his cascading rainbow-like appearance. The horns and body length fin compliment his appearance very nicely. Derek smiles and replies in his dragon voice.

"Are you ready to fly, Kontaro?"

Kontaro almost fainted when he saw Dominic change into Valaru Eldenmal. He comes over and marvels at Valaru Eldenmal's body. "Yes! I am ready! Take me to Thalugolos! I want to learn more!"

Valaru smiles and helps Kontaro into his riding pouch. "Secure yourself in. It would be a shame if you fell out from such a great height." Kontaro straps himself in and announces that he is ready. Valaru Eldenmal stretches out his wings and leaps forth into the Missouri night skies, climbing higher and higher. Once he levels out at the proper flying altitude, Valaru jets off at Mach 1 towards Thalugolos. Some hours later, Valaru comes to an abrupt halt, hovering in midair. Then when he receives the landing signal, Valaru dives down missing the island, then veering back up and landing gracefully on the landing platform.

Vrakmaz and Palarnabal are awaiting Valaru's arrival. Valaru helps Kontaro out of the riding pouch, then enthusiastically gives Vrakmaz and Palarnabal a family style hug! Then, Valaru changed back into Dominic and he removed the Dragon Ring.

Dominic looked to Kontaro. "Because you aided me in obtaining an important item in my quest, I now bequeath to you this Dragon Ring. It's power is capable of transforming you into your inner dragon that every living soul carries within them." He handed the Dragon Ring to Kontaro.

Kontaro places the Dragon Ring on his finger and smiles. "I will always cherish this moment, Dominic Vanlyone. May I try it out now?" Dominic nods and steps back to give Kontaro the room he will obviously need. Kontaro balls his hand into a fist and concentrates. Kontaro is immediately transformed into a massively large dragon shining with both the ruby brilliance of the sun and the ebony shadow-like ominousness of the night. His scales reflect the mystery of the sun's shadow from the surrounding light. His eyes appear gem-like in appearance. His wings unfold revealing his mastery of a solar eclipse. The horns and body length fin compliment his appearance very nicely. Kontaro smiles and replies in his new voice.

"Amazing! It really works! I will treasure this gift eternally!"

Vrakmaz steps forth and places a claw on Kontaro's shoulder. "From now on, when you deal with dragons, your name will be Qintureoz Eldenmal, legendary star of the north and seeker of the unknown." Vrakmaz smiles. "Or, you may simply call yourself Kontaro. We all have nicknames."

Kontaro smiles, clasping his claw on Vrakmaz's shoulder. "I will use both names. It is indeed an honor to be given such a wonderful gift. Although I do wonder. What would happen if I removed the Dragon Ring while in dragon form?"

Vrakmaz arches an eye, then replies, "If you removed the Dragon Ring now, you would be trapped in dragon form for the rest of your life. The magic of the ring makes dragons, but cannot unmake dragons once removed. So, if you removed the ring, you could never wear it again."

Kontaro nods his head. "Is it possible for me to learn how to change myself back into a human without the ring's help?"

Palarnabal replies, "Very possible. I can do it myself. Thalugolos has some of the finest schools of magic, warfare, and general knowledge for a dragon to peruse at his or her whim."

Kontaro smiles and removes the ring, handing the Dragon Ring back to Dominic. "Then how better to learn and study dragons than to be one full time. At a later date, I can learn how to change back into my human form, should I need it."

Dominic smiles and glances to Vrakmaz. "Looks like you have acquired another dragon, father."

Vrakmaz chuckles. "Indeed. Perhaps humans are not so bad after all."

Dominic spends the rest of the day with Vrakmaz, Palarnabal and Kontaro, then finally, asks Vrakmaz for permission to set up a Portal Gateway in Thalugolos.

Vrakmaz laughs. "I was wondering when you were going to ask me that. Of course you may set up a Portal Gateway. And you may link it to the House of Eldenmal which I had built right after you became a dragon the first time."

Dominic hums. "I will wisely link the Portal Gateway to my barn, just in case a dragon decides to walk through the Gateway." Dominic proceeds towards setting up the Portal Gateway in the House of Eldenmal. This gateway is by far the largest Portal Gateway he has ever created. He carefully concentrates on this overwhelming task, and soon has the Gateway set on both ends. Dominic said his goodbyes to Vrakmaz, Palarnabal and Kontaro, then headed home through the new Portal Gateway.

PART FIVE: RETURNING THE TROPHY

Dominic's next task took him back to Agassia to Lord Gonzalowyn's keep once again. Dominic meets with Gonzalowyn and discusses the reforging of the Aerial Contest Trophy from it's mishapen and broken form, and also to create a copy of the Token of Wind to place within the reforging of the trophy so that it is once again complete. Gonzalowyn gets to work on this new task immediately.

Some days later, Gonzalowyn calls Dominic in to look at the reforged trophy. When Dominic laid his eyes on it, he is very impressed. The trophy is as good as new. Dominic then describes the magic he would like instilled permanently into the trophy, so that it would hover in place if released from one's grasp no matter what height. Gonzalowyn nods his head and sets to work making the enchantment for the trophy. Another few days pass, and once again, Dominic is called in to test the finished product. The trophy did exactly as Dominic had asked.

Dominic smiles. "You are a fine smithy, Gonzalowyn. One of the best."

Gonzalowyn chuckles. "Yes, smithing is something that I truly enjoy doing."

Dominic shakes Gonzalowyn's paw in thanks. "Is there anything you would like in payment for this task?"

Gonzalowyn thinks, then looks at Dominic with a knowing smile. He picks Dominic up and carts him off into his bedroom. Dominic knows what Gonzalowyn wants now. (See F14)

The next morning, Dominic takes the finished trophy and travels back to the Tah'nuki mountain arrival plateau. From there, Dominic received directions to the Gry'foso Clan territory. Dominic set off in that direction. A few days later, Dominic was sitting on a large rock, when there was suddenly an explosion in front of him. Dominic saw a large gryphon and the Golden Yak. (See F15)

The Golden Yak smiled at Dominic. "Welcome to Tibet. You crossed the border a few miles back. My informant was not incorrect, was he? Now, do you care to tell me why you are so boldly trekking through the Gry'foso Clan territory? They have been watching you since you entered. They were wise to call me first."

Dominic smiled. "Indeed. I have recovered something that the Gry'foso Clan, as well as every other aerial species in Asia, has been searching for. And being the good agent of the White Stag, I was returning the object to its rightful owners. Which at this time is the Gry'foso Clan. I seek no reward in this task, only that I be allowed to deliver the item to the Gry'foso Clan leader, then be allowed to leave as I entered. Is this request unheard of?"

The Golden Yak turned to the gryphon. "What do you think?"

The large gryphon hummed. "And what is the item that you are returning to our kind? If this is a trick, you will be torn apart, and your remains used to feed our young."

Dominic quietly gulped. Then he unpacked the trophy and showed it to the gryphon. "I believe your clan is the current champions that this item dictates, are you not?"

The gryphon blinked his eyes when he saw the returned trophy! "Indeed! Climb on my back and I will escort you to our leader." He awaited Dominic to repack the trophy and to climb on his back. "I am curious though as to why you are not asking for a reward."

Dominic replied, "As the agent to the White Stag, I must do things for others that would not make him look bad. Therefore, I cannot ask for a reward that the White Stag himself could not make use of. I am merely doing a good deed while I am within this region."

The Golden Yak laughed. "Dominic is indeed the agent to the White Stag. He is also the voice on Earth for the Cardinal Animal Spirits. Take good care of him, gryphon." The Golden Yak was gone.

The gryphon took a leap, unfolding his wings, and soared into the sky carrying Dominic safely up to the rocky clan's home grounds, where Dominic was taken into the clan leader's nest.

Dominic finds himself standing before a magnificent male anthro griffin creature who's beauty is unsurpassed by any other gryphon in the clan. And to say that is vain does not even begin to describe the being before him. (Yes, they are -THAT- vain!) He stands at about nine feet tall and maybe weighing 300 pounds. His upper half is that of a pristinely white Gyrfalcon, while his lower half is that of a clean white snow leopard standing on digitigrade legs. His red eyes glow faintly, currently, as he only casually notices Dominic standing before him. His feline tail swishes and flicks behind him. His maleness is shamelessly displayed quite openly, showing that his mating skills make him quite capable of producing as many young as would be needed.

The anthro griffin raises an eye at Dominic, then to the other gryphon inquires, "Why is this human in my nest? Is he food?"

The gryphon shakes his head. "No, great Varan Gry'foso. This human boldly risked his life to retrieve and return the trophy that we won at the last Aerial Games. His name is Dominic Vanlyone. The Golden Yak has acknowledged that he is known to her." The gryphon steps out of the nest, leaving Dominic alone with Varan.

Varan narrows his eyes at Dominic. "You have returned our trophy? Where is it?"

Dominic snaps out of his admiration of Varan's beauty, and unpacks the trophy once again. He steps forward and hands the trophy to Varan, saying, "I had a friend enchant the trophy so that it could not fall if released, thus losing the trophy should not occur again, your lordship."

Varan holds the trophy in one claw and grasps Dominic in the other claw. He tests the trophy's new power and seems satisfied with the obvious results. "You have kept your word, Dominic Vanlyone. And what reward are you asking for, if I may ask?" He narrows his eyes again.

Dominic readily replies, "None, your grace. Returning the trophy to it's current owners is reward enough. I only ask that I be allowed to leave as I arrived."

Varan arches an eye. "No reward? Are you a god?"

Dominic shakes his head. "No, I am simply an agent of the White Stag. I was on a quest to gather certain items, and the trophy was found and given to me. Fortunately, I had received word from one of the Oki'nathi Clanspeople about the trophy, and knew that it should be returned to your people. Thus, I have returned it into your capable and, if I may say so, very beautiful claws."

Varan smiles, quite pleased with the compliment. "And what do you think of gryphons now that you have been so blessed to meet us?"

Dominic carefully replies, "I feel that I have been ruefully neglected in witnessing such beauty and power during my youthful upbringing. If I could have been so blessed when I was younger, I would be wiser and even luckier now."

Varan places the trophy aside, and pulls Dominic even closer to himself. "What would you like to know about gryphons, Dominic Vanlyone?"

Dominic gulps, wondering if he is about to become a meal after all. "Whatever you can educate within me about your kind. The knowledge would be greatfully and rigidly protected, on that I give my word in the name of the White Stag."

Varan gently caresses Dominic's shoulders, as he begins removing Dominic's shirt. "I have always believed that the best way to learn a species is to become that species for a temporary amount of time. Are you willing to become a gryphon for a short period of time so you may learn about gryphons?"

Dominic feels his shirt being removed from his body, then watches Varan unfasten Dominic's pants, and unzipping them. "Um, how short a period of time?" Dominic's shoes and pants are removed from him. Then his boxers are removed, leaving him nude before Varan.

Varan replies, "A week at the most, barring that nothing important happens to you. Are you willing to try it?"

Dominic blushes from his permanent arrousal being exposed now. He replies, "A week isn't so long, I don't guess. Very well, beautiful Varan. I am willing to become a gryphon for a week."

Varan nods his head and his claws begin to glow. Dominic finds himself forced to all fours as a nub begins growing from his tail bone, and two nubs begin growing from his back. Varan whispers, "What a fine gryphon(ness) you are going to make." Dominic's face begins to itch as feathers begin to sprout all over his head, as his own natural hair falls out. His ears become pointed and feathered next, as his teeth meld together top and bottom, then trust forward out of his mouth forming his beak. The feathering sensation continues down his neck, covering his shoulders and part of his chest. The feathers continue to sprout down his arms, as they slowly become forelegs, and ending in his former hands which slowly reshape into claws. Golden brown fur grows and covers the remaining portions of his torso, rumps, groin, legs, and feet, as his back legs reshape slowly into digitigrade lion's legs. His lion-like tail is now fully grown from the tailbone nub, as his wings fully grow out into their full flying capability. Dominic is now seemingly a full gryphon at this point. Then he feels his arousal moving further back, then seemingly shrink down and vanish. She can't see what is happening back there. Dominic's chest then becomes more full as multiple breasts form on her underbelly. Dominic then feels something akin to the arrousal returning, only this is more hot and causing her to pant and chirp, as her mind goes completely gryphoness. Varan smiles and leads Dominic the gryphoness deeper into his nest.

Several hours later, Dominic awakens tightly held within Varan's grasp. She no longer feels hot or in need, but instead feels slightly sick. Varan is awake and caressing Dominic's beautiful feathers and fur. Varan says, "You are doing just fine, Dominic. What do you think about being a gryphon now?"

Dominic tries to reply, but only a chirping screech emerges. She sighs looking very confused.

Varan comforts Dominic. "You will have to relearn how to speak using your new vocal chords. Are you in any pain?"

Dominic nods her head and looks towards her own stomach.

Varan feels Dominic's stomach and nods his head. "Yes, your eggsac is making eggs. Our eggs. I guess I should have warned you about that part, but you seemed so eager to become a gryphon, and I have not had a decent mate in ages."

Dominic simply leans back into Varan and sighs.

Varan aws. "It is not too terrible, Dominic. Look at it this way: you will only be a gryphon for a week. I am capable of keeping my word on such matters. And the beautiful part is that you and I will have the most beautiful shapeshifting gryphon hatchlings. Now, to take your mind off of the eggs, I will teach you to speak. It is difficult, but I have faith you can master it. You are, after all, the agent of the White Stag, are you not?"

Dominic nods her head, and the lessons in speaking begin. It is indeed difficult. Then Dominic is given her first flying lesson in her new body. Then she is taken on her first hunt as a gryphon. That part is indeed fun! She gains her fill, then returns to Varan's nest to rest.

Eventually, Dominic's voice has returned, and she is able to fly as well as the graduate gryphons. Then one evening, about 18 hours before the week is to end, Dominic begins laying her eggs. Evidently, Varan's magic helped to speed up her body so that eggs would indeed be layed before she was to be returned to her male human form. A clutch of four eggs are layed, then Dominic lays herself down and passes out from the excessive labor of laying eggs.

When Dominic awakens, he is no longer a gryphoness, but he is a gryphon with the appropriate male bits instead. "Hey! Varan... you said I was only going to be a gryphon for a week. What is up with my still being a gryphon?"

Varan looks to Dominic and smiles, "You were a gryphoness for a week. Correct?"

Dominic nods.

Varan says, "And during that time as a female, would you say you were a male gryphon for a week?"

Dominic lowers his head and groans. "No. I was a gryphoness, as you said. So I have to stay in this form for another week?"

Varan nods his head. "Well, you did give your word. Correct?"

Dominic nods his head. He did give his word. And he could not get out of this, or it would make the White Stag look bad. He was stuck. "What would you have me do, Varan?"

Varan smiles, and magically gendershifts into her female form. "We do not have enough eggs. I want you to help me make more eggs."

Dominic nods his head, and approaches Varan to do the deed. He was not expecting to be a father of anything for a few years, but sometimes you have no choice where magic is involved.

After another week, Varan does indeed keep his word, and Dominic is returned into his normal male human form. The following night, Dominic is still with Varan rather than up and gone to complete his quest. For some reason, he just could not force himself to actually leave.

Finally, after another week, Dominic, while holding Varan close to himself, exclaims, "Varan, do you have a spell on me preventing me from wanting to leave?"

Varan arched an eye. "Are you wanting to leave? I was wondering why you had not left yet. But I think I know why you have not left yet."

Dominic says, "Please tell me."

Varan nods her head. "You have not left because of your parental instinct to stay with your eggs until they hatch. It is not magic. You are doing this to yourself now."

Dominic hummed. "I suppose you are right. But should I not be hugging my eggs rather than hugging you?"

Varan smiled. "That is love, I think. I am quite fond of you, Dominic. No other human I have ever encountered has ever agreed to become a gryphon of any sort on my request. You impress me. I would like to have you become my familiar. If you do this, you could possibly bring yourself to leave. Your quest is not finishing itself, you know. You need to complete what you started."

Dominic hummed. "If I agree to become your familiar, would you agree to allow me to set a Portal Gateway here in your clan home grounds, so that I could return whenever you needed me, or when I needed to see you?"

Varan said, "Such are the contracts of life. Where shall we set your Portal Gateway?"

Dominic and Varan preselected an appropriate spot for the Portal Gateway to be erected, then it is sealed in place. Dominic does indeed work up the nerve to finally depart after spending another night with Varan intimately. Then Dominic returns to his mansion in Rocky Falls, Missouri.

Dominic slowly sits down at his desk unspeaking. He has been oddly quiet since his return. Damon brings Dominic some dinner, then sits in his favorite chair and drinks a beer. Finally, Damon can no longer take the silence, and asks, "Dominic. Is there something on your mind?"

Dominic slowly turns to Damon. "I got to become a gryphon for a month. I learned about gryphons. I layed eggs at one point. I helped another to lay eggs. I am a parent of a gryphon."

Damon chuckles, "It is not like you have a virginity to lose, Dominic. Almost everyone I know of that you have had some contact with have all slept with you once. Except me, that is. I should be jealous, but I'm not. I am your friend."

Dominic hits Damon with a seat cushion!

Damon laughs! "And how many times did those Fifth Circle Beasts molest you? Twice wasn't it?"

Dominic sits back down and sighs. "I haven't slept with everyone. The unicorns are still pure. I have not slept with the dragons. You are still unmolested by me, though you have had plenty of good opportunities to molest me, and don't you deny it."

Damon nods his head. "That I have. But I won't."

Dominic arches an eye. "Why not?"

Damon sort of turns his head away and mutters lowly, "Because I love you."

Dominic says, "I did not quite hear that, Damon?"

Damon turns back to Dominic again. "I said... because I love you. I love you, Dominic. And as long as I respect you, I will never force myself on you. Besides, I am just a demon horse. hardly worthy your time. I don't have a clue as to why I am still staying within your mansion. It just tears me up inside knowing that you are with almost every species in the universe. Everyone except me. Maybe I better return to Agassia. You don't need me anymore."

Dominic frowned. "Damon. I won't stop you from leaving, but I do need you. Your respect is about the only thing that keeps me alive. The White Stag never stops by here any more and I have been needing someone even more than ever. If you left, my sanity would be gone. I need you."

Damon sort of smiled. "And I need you, Dominic."

They both hugged tightly.

PART SIX: TOKEN OF VOID

The next day, Dominic closes his laptop with a sigh. Everyone looks at him when he sighs.

Dominic says, "I am defeated. There is no way I can get to the Token of Void."

Gotaki emerges from her corner and asks, "No way at all? You have checked every possible way to get the Token of Void?"

Dominic nods his head. "The Token is not even in this solar system anymore. There is no way to track the Voyager once it left the solar system. Even if there were, there is no way I can get up there. I am defeated." He stands up, and as he is leaving the den, he says, "I have failed the white stag. I am not worthy of being his agent." Dominic heads out of the room.

Gotaki hums. "This is not good. Why include a quest item that is impossible to obtain?"

Shane also hums. "The only reason to include such an item would be if there was a way to get the item. Otherwise, it would not be listed. And after all the -HELL- Dominic has been through to get the first four Tokens, there had better be a simple way to get the last Token."

Jago blinks his eyes as Jonie whispers something in his ear. Jago says, "-THAT- could work!"

Shane, Gotaki and Damon all glance over at Jago and Jonie.

Jago explains, "Jonie suggested we use CurrenTech Software's modified SETA program that can project voice messages into space. If anyone is out there that can help us retrieve the Token of Void, then they can respond back to us and we can go from there."

Shane smiles. "That is an excellent suggestion. Get right on it immediately. I will go upstairs and let Dominic know what our new plan is." Shane heads out of the den and goes upstairs to Dominic's bedroom. Shane knocks on the door before just opening it and walking inside. Shane was pounced immediately by the Fifth Circle Beast and the door closed behind him!

Gotaki is the one who actually locates Dominic who is sitting in the hayloft of the barn. He looks extremely depressed. Gotaki hugs Dominic gently and tells him about Jago and Jonie's plan to contact someone outside the solar system. Dominic brightens at this news, and goes with Gotaki back into the mansion and the den. Once there, Dominic looks around and asks, "Where is Shane?"

Damon says, "He went upstairs to look for you in your bedroom."

Dominic replies, "I was in the barn in the hayloft. Gotaki found me. The only person in my bedroom is that Fifth Circle Beast... uh oh..." He can just imagine poor Shane waltzing into Dominic's bedroom and getting pounced by the beast and being mounted, unwillingly. "I better go up there and rescue poor Shane before he starts enjoying it." He giggles. "Shane is going to smell like that beast for the next few months. Not even tomato juice removes that scent." Dominic laughs as he heads out of the den and goes upstairs. He quietly and cautiously enters his bedroom and closes the door. Right in the middle of the floor naked is Shane with the beast tied deeply within him. Shane's clothing is ripped and shredded all over the bedroom. "Um, hello Shane."

Shane is panting in exhaustion and pain. "Get this beast off of me, Dominic! You know that I am not like this!"

Dominic chuckles, then explains, "Shane, he is tied within you. If I pull him off now, you are going to be in a world of pain for several months. Everyone would think you let your horse mount you. Don't worry. He will be done soon, and then, I'll help you get cleaned up and get you some replacement clothing. As for your new cologne, it has to wear off. Not even tomato juice removes that scent."

Shane moans as the beast gives Shane a little hot juicy present, then the beast seems to relax on top of Shane's body. 30 minutes later, Dominic lifts the beast off of Shane, setting the beast on the bed. Then he helps Shane into the master bathroom. "Clean yourself as much as you can. I am sorry this happened to you, but you should know not to just walk into people's bedrooms. Especially inside this crazy mansion. I will fetch a medical kit." Dominic heads into his storage room that Reed used as a temporary alchemy lab during Reed Huxley's one vacation he took here a few years ago. (See F16)

When Dominic returns, Shane is drying himself off while sitting on the bed. The beast is apologizing profusely and giving sad puppy eyes, which looks pitifully hilarious on a canine like beast the size of a small pony. Dominic opens the medical kit, and proceeds towards treating Shane's injuries. Shane takes the treatment like a man, and is soon dressed in some clothing that he had left here on a previous visit.

Dominic says, "Good thing I remembered that you left those clothes here." Dominic looks at the shredded Stetson leather boots on the floor. "Don't know what to do about your boots though."

Shane sighs and frowns. "I have been plundered by a hellhound."

The beast says, "I said I was sorry, Shane. I thought it was Dominic walking in."

Dominic pats Shane's shoulder. "I know you are straight, Shane. No one is going to say anything about this. I promise you. Well, Damon is going to know what happened to you. The scent is highly noticeable by all demon kind as a sex inducing odor."

Shane moans, "This is so embarrassing."

Dominic replies, "Getting mounted by one hellhound is nothing compared to having the whole pack on top of you, sticking it into every orifice. Trust me. I have been pounced twice. I know what I am talking about."

The beast says, "The pack respects you, Dominic. As do I."

Dominic smiles and scritches the beast's head. "Come on you two. Let's head downstairs to the den and see what they have found out."

When Dominic, Shane and the beast re-enter the den/office, Dominic sees Jo Tanner in the room chatting with Damon and Gotaki. Damon sniffs the air when he sees Shane and gives him a sorry look. Damon is polite enough not to say anything in front of Jo, but instead offers Shane a cold beer, saying, "Now you know why I drink so much beer."

Dominic looks to his sister and exclaims, "I was wondering when you were going to show up. Sallee and Leia both got in their vacations. Where are you needing to go?"

Jo replies, "Cassander Vulcan is out of the country for the next month or so, and I have some free time now. I want to help you on your quest, if that is alright with you."

Dominic started to say, "Well, there is only one Token left, but..."

Then suddenly, Jago's computer issued forth a voice that said, "You say you are looking for an artificial probe made on Earth that is now in space because the probe has something in it that you desperately need?"

Dominic picked up the microphone and replied, "That is right. My name is Dominic Vanlyone and I am on a quest to collect the Five Tokens of the Elements. I have four of the Tokens, but the last Token is in deep space, and I have no way to get to it. Can you help me?"

Everyone else in the room is surprised because they have no idea on what is being said.

The voice replies to Dominic, "I believe I can help you. My name is Clip Therin and I am a Spacer First Officer on leave at Space Station Delta. Can you transmit your location to me other than Earth? If so, I can fly my shuttle in and pick you up."

Dominic looks to everyone. "Okay, who is coming with me this time?"

The beast says, "No offense, but I am not one for flying. So I think I will just head back upstairs and get some serious sleep." He looks at everyone. "You heard me say where I was going this time, right?" And he pads out of the den.

Gotaki ums, "Flying? No thanks. I think I will stay here. Help hold down the fort."

Damon says, "I am not afraid of flying, but I just opened this case of beer. And I like to finish the beer I open." He drinks some beer from the can.

Shane, Jago, Jonie and Jo all agree to come along.

Dominic speaks into the microphone. "Okay, there will be five of us to pick up. Can your shuttle handle that many passengers?"

Clip replies to Dominic, "Do the five weigh over 500 tons a piece? If not, then my shuttle can handle the load."

Dominic chuckles at that response. "I like how you think, Officer Clip. I am transmitting our location as of now." He sends the coordinate landing information. "Land in the circle with a white stag's head painted on it, if you can. My friends and I will be waiting nearby."

Clip replies to Dominic, "Will do. See you in a few minutes."

Dominic turns to everyone. "We're about to become Spacers." He smiles.

Dominic and the others wait just off to the side of Stag Circle. Suddenly, the shuttle comes gliding into view, then fires its landing thrusters. The shuttle's landing gear is lowered, and the shuutle slowly comes down into full view directly on the circle. Dominic and friends step forward slowly, as the shuttle pops open it's airlock security door. Dominic helps everyone get aboard, then boards himself into the airlock. The security door closes, then the airlock glows and fills with a light mist. The mist settles and everyone's clothing gets dry cleaned.

Dominic replies, "Decontamination Unit, I am guessing."

The inner door slides open revealing an anthropomorphic male fox. He stands at about 5'6", and is well-muscled from all his years wandering the outdoors. Looking at him, everyone notices that he's basically a rusty red color. This fades to a coal black on his feet and arms, which give the appearance that he's wearing socks and gloves. His arms are well developed, his biceps containing sinews thicker than some people's legs and his neck is heavily corded, even visible through his thick fur. His lats, delts, and back, are stalwart companions to his other muscles adding to his overall presence. His pects bulge massively, two mounds of rippling muscle which strain against the confines of his skin. His chest is covered with a nice patch of long creamy white guard hairs, which get shorter as everyone looks down his torso, and up towards his chin. His tail is about five and a half feet long and is quite bushy, with a snowy white tag. He has catlike ears which are also black on the rear. Occasionally his ears swivel to catch some sound or movement. He has a handsome vulpine face with a long slender snout which terminates with jet black whiskers and nose. His silver feline eyes are always scanning the area alertly. This fox is currently wearing a t-shirt with an alien logo on the back, a pair of blue jeans and some olive green sneakers. He also wears a silver chain with a quartz crystal pendant around his neck. There is a slight Stetson odor noticeable from this fox.

"Which one of you is Dominic Vanlyone?"

Dominic steps forward. No one else could understand the fox's language. "I am Dominic Vanlyone. Are you First Officer Clip Therin?"

Clip smiles and winks. "Do you know anyone else who would deliberately dress like this?"

Dominic chuckles and shakes Clip's paw. Dominic then introduces his friends by name. Shane Wayne, Jago Fox, Jonie Dreamsea, and Dominic's sister, Jo Tanner. Dominic then explains to Clip that his friends cannot understand the Spacer language. Clip nods his head and says that he had a remedy for that. He leads the way into the med bay of the shuttle, and proceeds to giving everyone a shot in the neck. The language barrier was then broken! And boy, was it ever broken!

Shane growls, "What the heck was that for?!"

Jo whickers, "I ought to belt you below the belt for that!"

Jonie mews, "That stung!"

Jago howls, "Dang it! I hope that doesn't leave a mark!"

Dominic also got a shot, just to be safe. He roars, "Why'd you give me one for? I can already speak the language."

Clip hums, listening to the voice differentials between the five humans. Then he responds to Dominic, "I gave you a shot in case you ran into a space language you couldn't normally speak."

Jo whickers, "Why do I sound like a horse?"

Dominic roars, "Because you work with them, I guess. Same reason I sound like a lion."

Jo whickers, "You work with lions?"

Dominic roars, "No, I am a lion." He sighs. He admitted it. Might as well go with the flow.

Clip leads everyone back up to the flight deck, and has everyone strap in, with Dominic sitting up front with him. Lift off is smooth enough, and after the general space window escape, the shuttle lifts out of the Earth's atmosphere, and launches into furryspace, factor 1.

Clip turns to Dominic and asks, "Were you serious when you said that you were a lion?"

Dominic looks to Clip and proceeds to explain everything that is known about him from the moment he first joined CHESS. (The telling is highly detailed and reveals many things previously unknown about Jansen Tanner. See F17) Fortunately, they are approaching Space Station Delta by the time Dominic winds down from the explanation. Clip smiles and kisses Dominic's cheek, then concentrates on bringing the shuttle in for a landing.

"Welcome to Space Command!"

Clip announces enthusiastically to his human friends as he leads them into the main hub of Space Station Delta. He takes them to the immigration offices and helps them get Spacer IDs that they will need here in outer space. Dominic's ID is made to specifically say: Chess Agent - White Stag. Shane's ID is made to specifically say: Marine Officer - Planet Earth. Both Jago's and Jonie's IDs are made to specifically say: Computer Specialist - Planet Earth. Jo's ID is made to specifically say: Stellae Rae - Captain Star.

Dominic laughs and winks when he reads Jo's ID. "I better behave or I might get blasted!"

Jo snickers, "...And don't you ever forget it!"

Clip then leads his human friends to the uniform department where Dominic and his friends get suited up in Spacer jumpsuit uniforms of five different colors.

Dominic's uniform is white with golden stripes, golden gloves, and golden boots, and with an emblem of a white stag's head on both his uniform and his helmet. Dominic is equipped with a laser pistol and instructed in it's use.

Shane's uniform is dark blue also with golden stripes, white gloves, and black boots, and with an emblem of a tiger's head on both his uniform and his helmet. Shane is equipped with both a laser pistol and a phase-sabre and instructed in their usage.

Jonie's uniform is reflective silver with black stripes, yellow gloves, and yellow boots, and with an emblem of a grey kitten on both his uniform and his helmet. Jonie is equipped with a laser pistol and a PDA-type tricorder device and instructed in their usage.

Jago's uniform is black with dark green stripes, dark green gloves, and dark green boots, and has an emblem of a wolf's head on his uniform and his helmet. Jago is equipped with laser claws and a PDA-type tricorder device and instructed in their usage.

Jo's uniform is fiery red with fire-shaped orange stripes, white gloves, and black boots, and has an emblem of a phoenix on her uniform and her helmet. Jo is equipped with a laser pistol, a laser rifle, and a stun whip, and instructed in their usage.

Jo whickers, "First person to make a Power Rangers joke gets stun whipped right in the balls!"

Clip takes his humans friends to the credit counter next where they are all assigned their preliminary starting funds of 2500 credits. Clip smiles and leads his human friends back to the main hub once again.

Clip says, "The animal portion of the language serum should be wearing off about right now. I'm sorry you had to experience that, but the language serum was not made for humans."

Jo smiles and says, "It's okay. It was fun to see how we sounded as animals for awhile."

Clip nods his head and says, "I am glad you are not upset. While you were all being processed into the system, I sent some messages out to some friends and the ship I am an officer on asking about the Voyager and where it might be. No one seemed to know, but my Captain offered to escort you in search of the probe. Are you willing to accept the offer?"

Dominic smiles. "Of course we'll accept the offer. We desperately need to find the Token of Void, and it's in the cargo of the Voyager probe."

Clip nods his head and smiles. "You will love my captain's ship!"

Aboard the 'Caspian Dream' starship...

Once docked in the shuttle bay, Clip is met by a male wolf named Captain Caspian Fenris. Clip introduces Dominic and his friends to the captain, and explains why they are here. Clip then proceeds to give his human friends a tour of the ship.

In the recreation lounge, Clip introduces his newly acquired friends to the ship's troopers, the Kat Pak. Dusk Pandros (a male panther), Guaar Jaqus (a male jaguar), Arda Leopa (a female leopard), and several unnamed others. And their commander, Ygros Tabath (a large male tiger), is also seated nearby. Also in the rec lounge, Clip locates Tan Willowbrook, the ship's cook and all around happy go lucky male otter. He does ask the humans if they brought a fish. Dominic promises to get Tan a fish. The otter went crazy!

Clip checks the fighter bay when he sees that no one is in engineering. It is here that Clip introduces the ship's chief engineer, a male polar bear named Poloski Arbarr, and the ship's best fighter pilot, a female bunny named Adora Harabi.

Clip locates his special buh-ddy, the ship's communications officer in the repair bay. Sylas Nighteyes, a male raccoon technician, is very pleased to see Clip, and hugs and snugs him for a long while, before realizing that an audience is present. Clip introduces Sylas to his human friends.

Much later, Dominic is called into Captain Caspian Fenris' personal quarters. Caspian Fenris greets Dominic politely, then after a few drinks, both settle down into discussing the Token of Void and where it's current location may be.

"And you have no idea on where the prize would be situated?" Captain Fenris asks Dominic.

Dominic replies, "This is my first trip into Furry Space, Caspian. I am at a loss on where anything is up here. Were I not needed on Earth more often, I would gladly sign on to your crew and seek an education in the life of a spacer."

Caspian smiles. "Ah, but I sense you are more than the common spacer, Dominic. You are a leader among the unusual. Mysteries and the fantastic are your forte and adventure is your dessert."

Dominic slightly blushes and replies, "Your words are well chosen, Caspian, and I am both honored and humbled by your evaluation of my persona." Dominic takes another drink from his glass. "Where do you believe we can search for the Token of Void?"

Caspian too drinks more of his ale. "I have not heard of any unusual artifacts found in the last 10 years of your Earth time, but that does not mean such things were not discovered. The place we can investigate is a lesser known port that I am familiar with called Fellspar. Among the less lawful in Furry Space, Fellspar is also known as the Black Market."

Dominic arches an eye. "Is Fellspar dangerous?"

Caspian smiles. "It can be for the green-footed spacer, but if you stay near one of us Dreamers, you should remain safe enough. Although that sister of yours is a real fire brand. I heard that she beat Commander Ygros Tabath at his own game of Kat Pak Poker." He grins. "Ygros is both angered that he lost to a woman and seriously interested in your sister. No one has ever bested him before."

Dominic chuckles. "If Ygros is not careful, he will learn the hard way just why Jo Tanner is the most dangerous Tanner to cross paths with." He smiles and winks. "When will we arrive at Fellspar, Caspian?"

Caspian also smiles. "In a few days, if we're lucky. Until then, I would appreciate your companionship..." Caspian draws Dominic closer and leads him deeper into his embrace. (See F14)

The days pass quickly and the Caspian's Dream soon arrives in orbit above Fellspar. Dominic, Shane and Jo accompany Caspian, Clip, Ygros and Poloski down into the Black Market of Fellspar.

The Black Market of Fellspar is both the smuggler's and merchant's dream, as well as their nightmare. In this part of the cosmos, if you can't find it here, it doesn't exist. Dominic and party browse throughout the Markets. It is while most of the party has entered one of the taverns that Poloski leads Dominic aside to a merchant's stall where a familiar looking Earth object is sitting on a table in full view. It is the Voyager Probe. Unfortunately, it's cargo hatch has been opened, and the contents are no longer there. Dominic and Poloski begin their inquiries of the vessel's original cargo, and search over much of the Black Market itself.

The trail leads the two into the home of a noble among the Fellspar Black Marketeers. Gaining an audience with the lord proves easy enough, and soon, Dominic and Poloski are standing before the lord himself.

The large male pantheleo-darkesthaian warrior stands at nine feet tall and is dressed in shimmering reflec armors and elegant aristocratic garments. He literally appears to be both an anthro lion and an anthro dragon. A leodragon. "I welcome you both to my home. I am Lord Firesong. I am to understand that you both seek an item of importance that I may have ownership of? Perhaps I do possess such an item, though, if it is the item you seek, we must discuss the price of which that I could release the prize to you both."

Poloski nods and speaks, "I am Engineer Poloski Arbarr of the starship Caspian's Dream, and this is Dominic Bastian Vanlyone of the Planet Earth and direct agent of the White Stag. We are seeking an item that was a part of the cargo of the Voyager Probe that now resides in Vezlock's stall in the Western market. Do you or do you not possess this item called the Token of Void?"

Firesong hums. "A small item with a name such as that would fetch a hefty price. Let us see if I do possess such an item."

Firesong leads Poloski and Dominic deeper into the lord's mansion and into a large treasure vault. There are literally thousands of relics and unusual treasures gathered within this chamber. Firesong directs the two to a single work table near the back of the vault. Dominic spots the item immediately, and points it out. "That is the Token of Void."

Firesong picks up the tiny item and arches an eye at it. "I was not sure what this was, but you have identified it for me. What price should I ask now?"

The three begin bartering for the item. Unfortunately, Firesong's asking prices are way too high. Finally, Dominic out of desperation exclaims, "Lord Firesong. I am on a quest to collect various tokens for my master, the White Stag. Your prices while reasonable to you are out of my meager beginning price ranges. This is my first time in Furry Space. Perhaps a service I could perform for you would better suffice as a payment for the Token of Void."

Poloski arches an eye at Dominic yet says nothing.

Firesong hums with a sparkle in his eye. "A service. You would do a service for me to gain this item? Yes, there is something that I would need done. Are you serious about working for this item?"

Dominic nods his head. "On behalf of my master, I speak the truth. I will do whatever one task you name. What service would you like performed?"

Firesong nods his head and hums again. "On Planet N'Gulva, there is a Py'Ratt stronghold. Somewhere within this stronghold you will locate the Chalice of Crystal and bring it back to me. Do this and the Token of Void will be yours. Do we have a deal?"

Dominic looks at Poloski, who in turn remains silent, then looks to Firesong once again. "I will do as you ask. I want this agreement in writing, if you please. Proof that you will reward me with the Token of Void in exchange for the Chalice of Crystal."

Firesong smiles and prepares the contract in triplicate. Signatures are signed, and copies distributed. "I will look forward to your return, Dominic Vanlyone." Dominic and Poloski leave Firesong's mansion and return to where the others were left.

Once back aboard the Caspian Dream, Captain Fenris listens to Poloski's story and shows the contract that Dominic had wisely asked for. Then Caspian turns to Dominic and grins.

"Perhaps you _ARE_ a spacer after all, Dominic. A crazy one, but acceptible for this crew."

Dominic is not sure if that is a compliment or an insult. So he merely nods his head.

Caspian announces, "Next stop: Planet N'Gulva!" The crew return to their posts and the starship leaves the Fellspar orbit and warps off towards the distant Planet N'Gulva.

Within a week, the Caspian Dream arrives in orbit over Planet N'Gulva. Caspian explained to Dominic that this would be more of an insane raid on a Py'Ratt stronghold than a walk in free space. Dominic smiles. Shane and Jo were itching for some action after all the current soft exploration. The Kat Pak also agreed to accompany the raiding party. The raiding party ready, Adora and Sylas launched their decoy fighter jets to draw the Py'Ratt's attention off to a false side allowing the raiding party a chance to storm into the stronghold.

Getting inside the stronghold proved to be far too easy. Dominic and Ygros were both suspicious immediately. Their suspicions rang true when they broke into the treasure vault and Dominic picked up the Chalice. The Py'Ratts began pouring out of the woodwork by the hundreds. Shane excitedly yelled and opened fire on the attacking creatures. Jo also began showing these creatures just what the fire of a Tanner was all about. The Kat Pak joined into the fight and there was soon a flood of fisticuffs and laser fire. Dominic and his friends had to literally fight their way out of the Stronghold every step of the way. Many many hours later, Dominic and his fighting friends were backed up against their shuttle still fighting the Py'Ratt spacer brigands. Dominic finally decided that he had finally had enough, and pulls out the Witch's Wand. (See F18) He begins transforming his enemies into cute harmless 'care-bear' looking creatures. The tide quickly turns and after Dominic takes a transformed creature captive, they all board the shuttle and launch quickly into space. They soon arrive back on board the Caspian Dream and the starship wastes no time in warping off towards Fellspar once again.

Dominic and Poloski are once again standing before Lord Firesong. Dominic unwraps the Chalice of Crystal and places it on the table before the leodragon. "One Chalice of Crystal, as ordered."

Firesong examines the chalice with his appraiser's eyeglass, then smiles. He hands Dominic the Token of Void. "One Token of Void, as agreed upon. You are a man of your word, Dominic Vanlyone. I look forward toward dealing with you again in the future. Good day and safe journey."

Dominic and Poloski return to the Caspian Dream where Dominic shows everyone the Token of Void.

Dominic makes a deal with Caspian Fenris, and is soon on Planet Zophuris, the home base of the Caspian Dream. Under Caspian's guidance, Dominic is given a location to set up another Portal Gateway between the Furry Space Academy and Dominic's Mansion on Earth.

PART SEVEN: WHEN FIVE BECOME ONE

After much well-wishing, Dominic and his friends walk through the Portal Gateway, thus returning to the Vanlyone Mansion. Damon Horse smiles as his friends return once again, then looks to Jo and exclaims, "Glad you are back, Jo. Got a phone call from your sister Leia. Vulcan is back in town. You need to get back to your ranch now."

Jo growls something vulgar and nasty about Vulcan then heads outside and returns to her ranch.

Gotaki also smiles as Dominic and his friends return. She sincerely missed her human friends during their absense. Dominic places the five tokens together and smiles. "We have all five. Now we have to get these to the White Stag." No sooner has he spoken this, Dominic gets that 'feeling' of summons from his white cervine friend. "Speak of the angel. He's summoning me. Who all wants to come along this time?"

Gotaki, Damon, Jago, Jonie and Shane all agree to accompany Dominic out to the deer stand in the forest. Dominic leads the way and soon, the six are at the expected location.

"You came. Good. Walk into the shimmering air. All of you. There is not much time."

Dominic and his friends enter the shimmering air and the White Stag stands before him with two other white stags. The White Stag nuzzles and licks on Dominic, who in turn kneels and hugs his master fondly. The White Stag replies, "Did you bring the tokens?"

Dominic nods and presents the tokens before his cervine friend. "All five, as you instructed. What now, old friend?"

The White Stag concentrates on the tokens and magically merges them into gleaming set of bracers. "Put these on, Dominic. They will protect you from he who you will face very soon. The being who caused the death of one of my cousins."

Dominic slips on the bracers then hugs the White Stag again. "Who am I up against this time?"

The White Stag nuzzles and licks Dominic again. He steps back and merely says, "Follow me. All of you." The White Stag leads Dominic and his friends into the Twilight Valley of the White Stags.

They really don't have enough time for sight-seeing, and continue following their ivory cervine friend through the valley and into a desolute wasteland. Standing in the center of the wastelands themselves is the being of evil that has caused all of the chaos responsible for Dominic's current quest.

Ares, the Greek God of War. (See F19)

Ares' minions launched their attack into Dominic's friends quite suddenly. There is much fighting and bloodshed. Dominic and the White Stag finally reach Ares in the center of the wastelands.

Ares challenged Dominic and the two engaged in a battle of swords and guile. At first, Ares seemed to gain the upper hand, but then Dominic would somehow bound back and push Ares back. Ares' anger grew as he found no way to easily defeat Dominic. Ares was finally disarmed by a rare lucky strike and Dominic stood over Ares with fire in his eyes.

Dominic growled, "You killed a white stag. You must pay for that, Ares."

Ares panted and grinned. "Do what you must, Dominic. Kill me."

Dominic likewise grinned, but his was more unsettling. "If I killed you, you would learn nothing from this encounter, so instead..." Dominic pulled the Artemis symbol out of his pocket and rubbed it three times. Almost immediately, Artemis and Athena appear on the battlefield. "...I turn your villainous and worthless hide over to the two women that I _KNOW_ will be able to punish you in ways far more creative than I could ever dream of. Am I right, Artemis?"

Ares' grin quickly faded as he noticed that Artemis was holding her vorpal arrows. "Ares, dear brother. Do you recall what I did to the Demon Mage known as Bauthoraentheo?" Artemis' grin was very serious. Ares started shaking his head and begging for mercy, then cried out in agony.

Dominic and the White Stag both had to look away and exclaim as one in a whisper, "Always stay on Artemis' good side AND always do exactly as Artemis says."

Athena and Artemis gathered the injured Ares and escorted him off to Mount Olympus, leaving those on the battlefield to tend to themselves.

Some days later, Dominic and the White Stag found themselves together at the grave site of the young white stag who died in the beginning. Dominic sighed and exclaimed, "We couldn't save him, old friend."

The White Stag nuzzled Dominic gently. "He is avenged, thanks to your efforts, Dominic. You have gathered my five white feathers for me and I merged them into your reborn spirit of courage through which you defeated Ares. This cervine may not travel with the herd anymore, but his spirit will live on within you, Dominic."

Dominic looked to his white friend. "Five white feathers... these were your five tasks you had me do to succeed in the end. You had me do as I have promised you I would do, didn't you?"

The White Stag nodded and smiled. "And you did very well indeed. Shall we go home now?"

Dominic was soon back inside his office/den gazing at the latest Portal Gateway addition to his lair: the way to visit his brother in spirit, the White Stag. Dominic looked at his bracers and smiled to himself. He chuckled, then laughed. His humor carried throughout the mansion.

Gotaki emerged from her corner and in a finishing sentence exclaimed:

"Five White Feathers indeed."
