So this is just a short chapter to kind of catch up and show where the story is. Not a whole lot happens, but it's necessary for the set up of the next chapter which is a big one. The next chapter will take a bit of work to write, but I think I'll have it up sometime this weekend, maybe Monday at the latest. I want to thank all my readers who like this series enough to take the time and read and comment on my work, you guys are really the reason I write. And all comments, and anything else is still welcome.

Hope you enjoy

Bloody Red Sun of Fantastic L.A.

Part II Chapter II

Eight years ago Klyzab had shut out all memories of his past, of his kidnapping, and of the separation of love ones, and the death of one who tried to care for him. Eight years ago he had shut down, and become a pet for the military might of the U.T.E. Now however everything came rushing back to him.

Efuvno stood in the door way of the small room. Even though she had aged roughly the same as Klyzab, he recognized her instantly. Her face had grown and developed, with a soft and pleasant feature in its ways. She stood slightly shorter than Klyzab and was dressed in a pretty and plain white sundress.

They stood there, locked in a moment that seemed to last as the eons went by. Klyzab wanted to call out to her, but as he was bound to such machines of life it was impossible. He wanted to raise his arms as if to embrace her presence, but found himself even to weak for this feat.

And then suddenly she was there, embracing him and consoling as such, even without him having to express his words of need. She cried into his fur, her words muffled by the force of her hug. They were like that for some time, Efuvno holding on to Klyzab, as if not to lose him a second time.

Klyzab felt something immense then, as if for the first time in eight years he was finally awake. As if everything that happened before this was just a bad dream and that everything would be okay.

Klyzab felt hazy, as the moment wore one, and soon started to drift off into a state of sleep and pleasant dreams. He didn't know it but Efuvno stayed with him the entire time, taking the chair the man had been sitting in and moving it over to Klyzabs bed side.

The next time Klyzab awoke the man was there again, and he saw that his sister was sitting beside his bed, holding his paw. She had fallen asleep and she was leaned over in her chair, her muzzle resting on Klyzabs shoulder.

The man first noticed that Klyzab was awake again, and gently walked over to him. He put his hand on Efuvno and gave her a little pat on the shoulder as to awake her from her slumber. While she was waking he went over to Klyzab and started to tell him what was going to happen next.

"Klyzab, listen I know you have a lot of question right now, and I promise, I'll answer all of them that I can, but for now how about we get some of these machines off of you?" He asked Klyzab in a helpful tone.

Klyzab slowly nodded his head, finding that he had the strength to do that small task, though just barely. By this time Efuvno had woken up, and the man directed her over to the large plastic device on Klyzabs muzzle.

"Okay Efuvno if you could just hold it, under the chin right there, yes perfect, now wait just a moment I'm going to unlatch it." The man spoke as he went about removing the device.

Klyzab felt the man lift his head up from the pillow, and then heard the sound of latches being undone, and buttons being pressed. It seemed to go on, and the positioning was uncomfortable for his head, but finally the man lowered his head back and started to instruct Efuvno.

"Okay, grab right there on the right side, yes just like that. Now slowly pull that out, while I thread the tubes out of his mouth."

While pulling off the head piece Klyzab experienced one of the oddest feelings anyone can experience. He felt as tubes from his esophagus, lungs, and nostrils were pulled slowly and carefully out of his body. It was a slow process and as the slimy tubes slowly untangled themselves Klyzab fought the urge to shiver in not disgust, but more of just general bizarre factor.

Then with a pop, everything was gone, and he started to cough at the various slimes and fluids dripping from his mouth and nose. Efuvno was quickly with him though; she had a napkin or a handkerchief, and started to wipe off Klyzabs face.

With that done, the man checked over Klyzab making sure everything was okay and that the monitors still on him were working. As he finished his checkup of Klyzab he asked Efuvno something.

"Efuvno, could you, leave the room for just a moment?"

Efuvno seemed to hesitate before giving a slight nod and leaving the room. The man then proceeded to quickly undo Klyzabs catheter, and making sure everything was okay down there as well.

The man quickly called Efuvno back in and proclaimed to the both, that Klyzab was of good health for his condition, and was expected to make a full recovery.

"That's great", Efuvno said, reclaiming her chair by Klyzab, hugging him, and cry more into his shoulder "I...I was so afraid... about losing you, but... but now everything will be better. You're safe now, and we're together and everything will be okay."

Klyzab opened his mouth to comfort his sister, to tell her that of course he was fine, he went through a lot worse, but when he opened his mouth he found he couldn't talk. It was odd he knew he could talk, and physically he could, but every time he tried he was haunted by his past. Every time he tried to talk he remembered the shocks, and the abuse that a mutt gets when it tries to talk like people.

When Klyzab tried to speak but couldn't the man watching the siblings knew that his task was harder than first expected.

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

A month had passed since the day Klyzab learned he couldn't talk. The man, who Klyzab later learned was named Brutus, had told Klyzab that it was most likely selective muteness. Apparently Klyzab had been scared mentally, and that given time he would be able to talk again.

He stayed busy though, even with his temporary lack of speech. Efuvno was with him near constantly, not wanting to leave his side. In a way they both had psychological issue's to deal with. Klyzab had to overcome his selective muteness, and Efuvno had to understand that Klyzab wasn't going anywhere so she didn't need to be his shadow.

Klyzab was fine with their current arrangement however; as he liked the company of his sister, and didn't think he would tire of it.

Brutus had shown Klyzab the concept of wearing cloths, and though Klyzab thought it was kind of a stupid idea he humored Brutus and wore cloths around the house as well. Efuvno liked to dress in light sun dresses, mostly in the colors and hues of white and yellow. Klyzab preferred very baggy gray sweat pants and just a solid plain shirt that was a few sizes too big for him.

Klyzab occupied his time mostly with Efuvno teaching him simple things. She was teaching him how to read and write, in both Snarl and Deutschlish. Klyzab wasn't the best students but he was making some progress, oddly enough he found Deutschlish easier to read and write than his own native language of Snarl.

He was also learning basic math, which he did fairly well at, but he didn't really care for studying all that much. Mainly he just wanted to spend time with Efuvno, and to explore Brutus' house.

Brutus was some very important person in the military, which was about all Klyzab, knew about him. Klyzab didn't really care though, as Brutus had the largest house he had ever lived in, it was called a mansion, or something of the sort. Klyzab loved exploring every room with Efuvno and any time he found some object or device he didn't understand he asked her about it.

Efuvno patiently answered all of her brother's questions; he had some simple ones that were easy to explain like: what is the point of doors, what did that thing in the parlor called a piano do, and various other questions. Then he had harder ones that Efuvno had to ask Brutus to explain sometimes: How do the holo-visons work, are the sun and the moon playing tag with each other, why do we have to wear cloths. But there was one question which even Brutus couldn't answer without hurting the little Klein Pseudo-Vulpine.

"Brutus, where do you go during the day?" Klyzab wrote on a sheet of paper, handing it to Brutus

They sat around the living room after dinner, watching the holo-vision; Efuvno was almost asleep, leaning against Klyzab in a cute way. Brutus quickly read the note and sighed, he had known he would eventually have to tell them, but he had never wanted too.

"Klyzab wake up your sister, and turn off the H.V. I have to tell you something very serious."
