Human Origins Chapter 9: Date

I apologize for the rather long break in my writing, I've had some family isssues that I won't go too much into. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the 9th installment of Human Origins!

(Syreth's view)

Was it wise to have made that big of a choice so quickly?

That was all I could think about, as I made my way to Lefea, a big merchant village that never seemed to sleep.

It wasn't too long ago that I agreed to starting an intimate relationship with Luxikam, a shiny white werewolf with shimmering silver eyes, and a big heart. We had experienced our first kiss, his soft fur gently tickling my nose and lips as we shared saliva. The security of his big, muscular, arms rubbing against my back. My hand touching the fuzzy back of his head, as we enjoyed each other's embrace.

There was so much to enjoy about that short moment of love, yet here I am doubting that I made the right decision.

I'm a human, someone with the innate desire to interact and form relationships with others. But to form a relationship with someone totally different from me, is unnatural. To be gay is unnatural in itself, but with a entirely different species, is unheard of, at least around here.

Then there's all the dangers that come with this relationship. If Luxikam's father, Manton, finds out about this romance, either in person, or by means of his army, it'll put us both in danger. I know that Luxikam will do whatever he can to protect me, but the very thought of him getting hurt or even killed... bothers me.

I know he has strong feelings for me, and I have the same towards him, but if such a situation were to arise, and I wasn't able to protect him too.... I wouldn't be able to live with myself.

The more I think about it, the more it seems obvious that I should get stronger for Luxikam.. I have to get stronger, stronger to protect him if such a situation should arise.

First however, we have to make our emotional bond together, and I'm sure this date will help me to do it.

(2 hours later)

I'm finally here at Lefea....

The village of Lefea, is a lively one, that's for sure. The Luminew Festival was going on, to celebrate the beautifully big blue moon that happens here every 3 months. Lefea is already a merchant town, but when there are special occasions like Luminew, sometimes merchants from other countries come to sell their goods.

All kinds of stands were on display. The scent of freshly baked wheat bread and apple pies filled the air, accompanied by the smiles of small children running about the streets. There were other merchants that collected quite a variety of spices and flowers. Taking a walk by those stands introduced me to rich and sensual smells, such as lavender, mint, aloe, and basil.

I bought some lavender oil to give to Luxikam later, I'm sure he would like it.

Speaking of Luxikam, I can't find him anywhere. He didn't give a single detail as to where I was going to meet him at.

Where is he?

(Luxikam's view)

Why didn't I write where we'd meet in this busy place?

Come to think of it, I didn't even write a time to meet. Where could Syreth be?

Is he even here?

All these questions were running through my mind, as I keep running around trying to find where my date is in this busy crowd. I'm in my feral form, keeping a low profile among all these humans. I used to spy on this village with Aexis and his team a few years back, so I know quite a bit about the town and people here.

There are a few people here that know and trust werewolves, and I had the pleasure of meeting with one of them a bit earlier tonight.

Tara, is a single, kindhearted lady, with blonde hair, hazel eyes, and a sweet smile. Back when Aexis was still around, he used to hit on Tara, who would always reject the offer, no matter how flattering he tries to be. She has a petite figure, but that doesn't mean anyone should underestimate her. She is a professional when it comes to the bow, picking off targets from 50 feet, wind included. All in all, she's like a ranger to friends, and a huntress to enemies.

Being the caring person she is, when I explained to her my date with Syreth, she was glad to help me out. She arranged for a private table in her restaurant for both of us to sit alone. Since Tara owns and cooks for the restaurant, all the servers know of her impartiality to all customers and respect that as well. Thus the restaurant is open to both humans and werewolves, and I have nothing to fear. Still, a private table sounds nice, since I want some alone time with Syreth, without any interruptions.

Syreth's parents just know how to show up at the wrong time at his house. I was almost finished healing Syreth after marking him, and they just had to come in.... I wish he lived alone, but that's just something I'm going to have to deal with. It's not like he has anywhere else to stay.

I'm kind of nervous about how this relationship will work out, but at least things are running relatively smooth now. I have to remember that Syreth wants me to protect him, and to love him. I don't want to be anything like my father, so I'm not going to force anything in this relationship. I'm just going to let the love grow naturally, and what I should focus on right now, is getting to know Syreth better.

I want to be the best boyfriend I can be, a title I've never had before. I want to give him everything he needs, to satisfy him to the best of my ability, and if any person gets in the way of that... they'll answer to my claws.

"There you are!"

"Huh?"

(Syreth's view)

A big white feral wolf with silver eyes, wearing a large white cloak was walking towards me, his head up in the clouds as I walked towards him. My heart was fluttering in my chest as he didn't even seem to notice me. He must've been thinking about something, but I have no idea what. No matter, I'm excited for whatever he plans to do!

"Luxikam?" I said kneeling down, rubbing his head gently, enjoying his nice fur running in between my fingers.

He backed up a bit, and for a second there I thought I had a case of mistaken identity.

All of a sudden he rushed forward, jumped, and landed on top of me. To the people around us, it looked like a dog licking his owner, but tell that to my mouth which was filled with wolf tongue and slobber. I wanted to put my hand over his head to push him slightly closer to my face, as I was rather enjoying this cute display of affection.

But to the general public, doing that would make it look like I was encouraging this rather awkward encounter, and I know I shouldn't really care, but that would reflect badly on me, so after a few more seconds of wolf kisses, I pushed him off me.

Luxikam seemed to understand he needed to be a little less bold in his greetings, but with a grin as wide as his, complimented by his wagging tail, I understood in return that he was just happy to see me.

Luxikam gently licked my cheek, and I blushed, which only seemed to make him smile more. I must really look cute when I blush.... Wow, since when do I compliment myself?

He started to walk away into the crowd, and I assumed he wanted me to follow him somewhere. So I went after him, dodging the many people that were in the way... trying to keep up with him.

Something caught my attention on the way to whatever destination he was headed towards, and I stopped. Luxikam, trying to figure out what was holding me up, came back to me and clawed at my leg. Turning his head to see what I was so distracted by, he uttered a low growl at the stand.

"Selling Wolf Pelts!"

Several carcasses of wolves were on display in many colors, white, gray, and black, was shown along with high price tags. But what was by far the most eye-catching pelt, was the one the shady salesman was wearing.

Adorned in fiery red, the arms tied around his neck, still attached to the body that runs all the way down his back, it was both beautiful and disturbing.

The man seemed to eye Luxikam, and they exchanged glares for a long moment. I found myself uncomfortable, as if there was a hidden fire ablaze in these two individuals, and I was being incinerated by the concealed hatred.

Luxikam started to move again after about 5 minutes of staring, and walked inside a cabin, about 4 stands down. Feeling awkward around the man who now shifted his attention towards me, I followed Luxikam.

The man's eyes were still on me....and I squirmed at the feeling.

Entering the busy restaurant, I was greeted by a cheerful blonde-haired woman, who bowed respectfully and greeted me.

"Hi there, and welcome to Tara's Tavern! Are you Syreth?"

"Y-yeah?"

"Excellent! Your reservations are over there in the backroom. Your date will be ready shortly! My name is Tara and I will be serving you tonight!"

"U-uhm okay, thanks?"

"No problem hon, I think I like you already!"

Tara quickly led me into the backroom, where a candle-lit table awaited, accompanied by crystal glasses, menu, and golden silverware.

"Thanks Tara, I will take it from here." A deep soothing voice said behind the curtains that were in front of the set table.

Opening the curtains let the blue moon's rays bathe the room in it's eerie glow, but my focus was on someone else.

A guy who was gentle yet strong, kind yet firm, soft and furry, and.... handsome.
