In the year 2020 human experimentation and alteration was temporarily approved in the U.S.due to the Chinese attempting to take over all of South Asiausing genetically modified soldiers using traits from animals. The animals they used were subspecies of normal animals that evolved around the 1800's having human level intelligence, the ability to use speech and all the other wonders of being sentient all the while retaining animal instincts and abilities, with some walking upright on two legs, others evolved so that they still have a normal animal body but it's larger than normal and where the species' head would be is a humanoid torso with the species' head on top. Overtime they were granted citizenship in many countries, in some sadly they were almost eradicated but those countries governments were dissolved. In any case these E.V.A.I.L.'s (Evolved Animals) now have positions in government, some even lead countries, and live essentially for the most part like humans. The U.S.C. (United States Coalition) intervened because EVAIL's that were citizens of the U.S.C. protested what the Chinese were doing considering enhancing four of their soldiers equals four dead EVAIL's. In response to this the U.S.C. came up with their own enhancement program, all volunteers, which use nanotechnology and genetic alteration to imbue soldiers with animal abilities and traits to put them on par with the Chinese GASSer's (Genetically Altered Super Soldier). As a result of the technology no EVAIL's were hurt because normal animal genes were used, not EVAIL genes. A branch of the project, called Project Crossover, involved enhancing EVAIL's already present abilities and was a great success. Unfortunately, the main branch of human volunteers, originally numbering around five hundred became only a meager one hundred successes, the failures died, were irreversibly changed into the animal gene that was dominant, or completely lost their mind resulting in them being feral from the process. The successes were tested then trained in multiple special operation groups including Delta force. Upon completion of training they were transferred to the 193rd Company, Spec-ops, code name A.E.V.O., short for Animal Gene Evolved Volunteer Operatives. The primary mission of A.E.V.O. is the elimination of GASSers and the destruction of GASSer gene modifying information, and EVAIL processing compounds to bring GASSer output to a standstill. After the conflict the volunteers that were successful, both animal and human were codenamed individually as GAASH, Genetically Altered Animal Human Super Hybrid, pronounced gash, G's for short. The 193rd Company's real purpose was officially "unrecognized" by the U.S.C., its existence kept at the highest level of classification, a special operations outfit black as they come. With the fall of India and the Chinese stepping up GASSer production, the U.S.C. was forced to leak info that suggested A.E.V.O. existed and was beating back the GASSer threat alongside the regular infantry in order to instill hope into the civilians. After the sabotage and eventual destruction of all known GASSer facilities, the historical "Push" was made. With the aid of Indian resistance the U.S.C. forced China out of India, peace reigning once more but not without great cost. Many of the branches of the U.S.C. military lost large numbers of soldiers but none were devastated as badly as the 193rd Company. While many of the EVAIL G's survived, only a handful of human G's made it back alive as only one hundred were successfully altered and deployed to begin with. Eighty-five were identified and listed as K.I.A. Twelve attempted to return home, some were badly wounded, dying in transit, those who survived were debriefed and folded into other special units alongside EVAIL G's. Two went A.W.O.L. and one simply went missing along with his entire EVAIL AEVO team. The entire base and its soldiers the team was based at were attacked by an unknown force, all listed K.I.A. when the U.S.C. pulled out after the cease-fire as well as eventual peace negotiations with China, the commander of the base and handler of AEVO operations in the area was previously listed M.I.A. just before the attack. All of this was filed away top secret and never investigated despite the protest of many a soldier, officer, and even the brass in charge of Project Crossover.
