#13 of The Unintended Curse

Sorry for the long update for posting anything, most of my time has been taken up with training my uncle on how to be a trucker and such. Though through all that time and everything (Working 7 days a week and sometimes not even getting a full nights/decent sleep has really been hurting my writing) I finally got some time in and I've gotten this chapter done.

I hope to have more stuff to post fairly soon and with that new story up for the beta readers to work with, I should have a new story coming down the pike as well.

THE UNINTENDED CURSE

Ch. 13

For the remainder of the trip the elf sisters spent their time in the galley while the official 'cook' spent it swabbing the deck. I couldn't help but laugh at the role reversal as I laughed I realized what he'd been trying to do when it was his turn to cook up something for the contest. It wasn't really clear as to how long the cook had been a cook for the ship, but somehow in his time aboard the ship, he'd learned of the captain's favorite dishes and had been planning on serving such a dish for his entry into the contest. The only problem with that, as to which I realized that the dish he'd been preparing was supposed to be able to be feed or be made for the entire crew. The cook didn't listen to my warning and to that continued on with his dish.

Needless to say that upon completion of the cook-off, the captain had instantly gone after the original cooks dish first and was about ready to declare the original cook to the be the winner, but when I suggested that he'd at least try the elves meal he'd done so and announced their win upon being blown away at not only the taste but the fact that the meal was said to be easily mass produced. Even though I could see the look of indecisiveness upon his face, as I could tell he really loved the dish the original cook had prepared, the truth of the matter was that the cook hadn't followed the captain's orders and the elves had. With a heavy sigh the captain stood up from the table, removed his napkin from where it'd been tucked into his tunic, and threw out his hand towards the elves and declared them to the be winners of the cook-off.

It'd been the better part of a week with the new cooks and everyone aboard was in a much happier mood. Not only were they getting better/tastier meals, the meals were of a finer quality than they could hope for; though the fact that the meals were a lot healthier for the crew didn't hurt matters much either. "Yet another work of fine edible art," I said with a laugh which followed by a short belch a moment later. "I don't know how you girls do it but I have to admit that you seem to outdo yourselves each and every time." This got the older sister to give me a pleasant smile as she wiped down another one of the tables.

It was just after the noon meal and much of the crew had already finished their own individual meal and had now left the galley to resume their duties aboard or above deck. "I am surprised that you can even taste anything, considering what you are and all," Said the voice of the younger sister when she'd poked her head out from the overly large pot she'd been cleaning. The whole comedy of it all was only added to when both the elder sister elf and I saw that the younger had large smudge marks on either one of her cheeks.

"That might be true of most blob monsters, but I consider myself a very special type of blob monster." I proclaimed myself as I placed a hand against my chest and held my head up a little straighter. "I mean, at least I don't go around consuming everything in sight like most blob monsters."

"A blob monster is still a blob monster," was her only retort as she ducked back into the overly large pot and the sound of scrubbing resumed.

"Now sister; you know that you shouldn't say things like that. After all, it's thanks to this 'blob monster' that we find ourselves in the situation that we're in."

The younger just poked her head out from within the pot for a moment, raised an eyebrow, and then frowned slightly. "Scrubbing pots on a dingy ship?" To which I couldn't help but laugh at her response.

"No dear sister. We find ourselves blessed. We no longer are in the captivity of our previous masters, no longer in hiding within the galley of this ship, and no longer wondering when or if we are to ever see the woods of our homeland."

"Speaking of which, how long are we going to have to wait before we get back to land?" The younger sister complained as she stood up from kneeling before the overly large soup pot. "I mean, I agree with you sister about him helping us and all, but it seems as if we're spent an eternity aboard this ship."

I couldn't help but sigh at that and as I placed a hand upon my hosts stomach, to which housed my own personal/slime body, and could only agree that I too was looking forward to getting off this ship. I mean, my time aboard this ship was an experience and all, but the more time spent aboard this ship didn't help us in the least to our goal. For both the sisters, this time being delayed aboard this ship was only that of a minor inconvenience before they were on their way home, but for my host and me things weren't looking well at all. Even amongst my greatest of efforts, my host's health was rapidly failing. No matter how much I tried to deny it, I was still a blob monster and being inside someone was not good for them

It was upon one of the late nights that I had night watch duty, that I found myself in the crow's nest and staring out over the vast vista that was the sea. It was true that one could lose themselves in just the simple-ness of a fisherman's life, but through that one did often long for something that only the land could provide. As I stood there and made a sweep of the horizon, watching as the stars would seem to pop up from one side of the watery world, only to be extinguished upon that of the other side, I was wondering about what to do about our situation. I was brought out of my depths of thought when I heard the rope leading up to the crow's nest go caught and begin to strain.

"If you don't mind, I'd like to talk to you," said a voice from below. I looked over the edge to see that it was that of the older elf sister. Giving her a nod as well as my hand I hefted her up the rest of the way and eased her into the small space that we now occupied within the nest.

"What seems to be on your mind?" I asked her to which I could see within the features of her face that she was slightly troubled by something.

"Are you alright? I mean, for the past few days you don't look to have been feeling quite well." The elder sister asked me, to which I couldn't help but smile and let out a slight chuckle.

"As for myself, I'm surprised that you have to ask, as since I'm a blob monster there really isn't that much that can really cause me to be ill." But even through those words, I knew she meant something more...'physical'. With a defeated sigh I just leaned against the basket and let my head droop a little. "How long have you known?"

"For a little while now," she said as she reached on over and lightly touched my hosts stomach area. "It isn't that hard to one such as us to tell when someone is either lying to us or...," she lifted up my shirt and exposed the flesh underneath, "Unwell." The skin that was previously hidden beneath my hosts shirt was now exposed to the salty air and within the dim light cast off from the stars above, deep dark splotches could be seen.

With a bit of a defeated sigh I looked down at the stomach area of my host and could only feel slightly dis-hearted at the sight of the ruin of his flesh. "Through most of my efforts, it does little to hide the fact of nature of what I am." I slowly lowered the shirt and tucked it back into place, once again hiding away the ruin that was now overtaking my host.

"How long has this been going on?" She asked me in a concerned tone to which I fully turned away from her and leaned forward over the railing.

"The damage isn't all that bad yet, I can still hold back most of the damage so that my host has a chance to recover in one area at a time," I shook my head and let out another slow breath. "But through most of my efforts, my nature still is doing what it does best." Just then I felt something slip and before I could stop myself I felt my host's body lose its strength to stand. If it hadn't been for her being there to catch me/us then I was sure to have fallen. After helping me to sit down within the nest she began to remove my shirt and inspect my host's wounds a little more closely.

For a while I watched as she went over my host's body and would often slightly press against a wound or two, only to come away a few times with either a bit of a rotten flesh or some kind of viscous fluid sticking to her fingers. "Damn, I though the damage wasn't that bad," I admitted only to grow more uneasy when she looked up at me and gave me a worried look. "I guess my host is deteriorating at a much faster pace than what I'd predicted." I let out a bit of a laugh, but my efforts to lighten the mood slightly only seemed to worry the elder sister elf more.

"This really isn't something that you should be laughing over. These wounds," she held up her fingers to show the rotten flesh or viscous fluid stuck to the ends, "Are serious. If I didn't know any better, I'd say that this body was soon to be done in by whatever malady is infecting it."

"But we know what's infecting this body, don't we." I let out another slow breath and slowly shook my head, but slowly sobered up when I saw how worried she looked. "How bad is it really?"

She turned her head away from me for a moment, then turned back to gaze directly into my eyes. "The thing is," she paused for a bit as if trying to gather her thoughts, "I really don't know. Your situation is not something that I've ever heard of; much less thought was even possible. To think that a blob monster could take control over someone is practically unheard of, much less laughable at how ridiculously impossible it would be to even believe possible."

"Yet here I am." To which she nodded and gave me a concerned look.

"And here you are." She lowered her hand, to wipe away the filth upon her spotless apron. "I mean, these wounds upon this body are or would be easy enough to be healed, but..."

"Wait a minute," I said interrupting her, "You just said that you could heal these kinds of wounds."

"Yes...indeed I did, but...I don't know what would happen to your...form if I were to perform such a task." I couldn't help but laugh and gave her a big toothy grin.

"Then you don't have to worry over me. I'll just simply exit his body and you can heal him." This seemed to catch her off guard for a moment and a bit of a confused look spread across her face. "Look, I only remain in this body to make sure that I get it to your homeland to face judgment. It isn't that I need this body to survive."

"Then what is to be done?"

"In order for my host to survive the trip to your homeland and pay for what he's done, I will simply exit his body and you can work your healing upon his body. That way you don't have to worry about your 'abilities' being compromised by my being within this body." I was a bit surprised that she hadn't suggested it in the first place and to that the solution to the problem, though as I thought on it some more no-one really knew my capabilities like I did.

Though the shifting of her emotion was slow, I saw her worried face slowly to one of glee and with that she smiled warmly at me. "That just might work." To which found both the elven sister and me down in the galley sometime after my shift at the watch had ended.

"I know that this might be a bit unsightly, so I suggest that you turn away for a moment." I said as I slowly lay my body down upon one of the tables and took in a long sigh. Once I was fully stretched out upon the table I looked over to the sisters that were standing next to the table, neither of which looked as if to turn away.

"Are you joking," said the younger as she placed both her hands on her hips and stared intently down at me, "This is to interesting to pass up, and I for one am not going to let such an interesting thing pass me by." I could only shake my head at her and turn to the older who stood beside her.

"I need to make sure that once you've left this body that it doesn't injure itself or try to escape. I mean, it is a distinct possibility for the real owner of this body to either injure itself further when it becomes aware of how much pain it is in right now or if it has been aware of what we have planned for this person...," she trailed off at that moment as I held up a hand and nodded to her.

"Alright then, I just wanted to make sure that the both of you are aware of what I'm about to do, might be a little...disturbing." With a final nod from both sisters I slowly closed my host's eyes and began the arduous process of extracting myself out of my host's body without injuring it further. The whole process took a bit longer than usual, (considering that I was trying to ease my blob like body out of his in the best way possible) but eventually I gave the younger sister a nod and quickly turned my head to the side. A moment later the body of my host began to convulse and through that the younger quickly brought out her rope and quickly tied the body to the table.

The sound of something gurgling could be heard from the body and in the next moment a white/goop like substance began to form in the mouth of the body and to that the body began to throw up. The whole retching or throwing up the white mass only took a short time and to that found the expelled white mass upon the floor. "It's done sister, he's out." Said the younger sister elf as she quickly walked around and scooped up the white mass inside that of a pot and brought it around.

"Good, now that he is out I can begin to heal these wounds." The elder sister said as she lifted up both her hands and began to hum in a soft tone.

"But what is to be done about...him?" the younger asked as she lifted the pot up and gave it a bit a wiggle, allowing the mass to slightly shift around (Author: If you need a visual of what all this looks like, then imagine a pot full of white Jell-O).

"Um...I don't believe it would best to upset him. I mean he's...probably not to happy that your shaking him around like that." To which the younger smiled evilly down at the mass and began to shake it a bit more. It was at the more violent of the shaking that something happened within the pot and the mass quickly shot out and quickly engulfed the younger elf sister's arms. Quite shocked at this revelation, the younger opened her mouth to let out a scream, but it was with that act of opening her mouth that the mass quickly took advantage of the moment and shot forward once again.

The little sister could do little more than watch in horror as the white mass quickly encompassed most of her face and slip slightly down her throat. Not really understanding what was going on she quickly released the pot and then quickly grabbed at her face to remove the mass. Though try as hard as she wished the white mass had some kind of death grip upon her and wouldn't release her.

"I told you it wasn't wise to upset him." Said the older sister to which the younger looked over at her older sister with pleading eyes, only to be ignored as the older returned to the task at hand.

Feeling quite upset at getting a face full of white mass, she finally relented, picked up the pot, and held it out at arm's length once more. It was at that did the mass finally stop hugging her face and return to the pot where it belonged. Feeling a bit relived at having the mass return to the pot the sister relaxed slightly and breathed in a slight bit of relief, only to have a slight itch develop somewhere at her side. 'Now that wasn't a very nice thing to do to me,' said a voice in her head.

"Sister, did you hear something just now?" To which her sister shook her head but still continued her chant/work upon the prone body before her.

'I hope you don't think that you're going to get away with shaking me around like that,' came the voice once more.

It was at that the younger sister froze up and slowly turned to look down at the mass in stunned realization. For the realization was that she just then recalled that not only was the white mass within the pot she held, but there was also a slight bit within her as well. 'Oh no...'

'Oh, yes,' and with that the itch developed into a something quite different and the little sister couldn't contain her laughter as the itch quickly turned into a feeling of being tickled/assaulted in her weak/ticklish spot on her side.
