#1 of Tales from before man

I am building a world of which to write about. The first thing I needed was tales of creation, of how my universe was created. This is the first of an ongoing creation story titled "Tales from before man"

This story is of the one and the four kindred and the creation of the fabric of the universe. The next stories will be longer, alot longer and will detail more of the creation.

Like fav and whatever :P

In the beginning, there was nothing.

It was this way for many countless ages, one cannot count time in that void; so it may have been an age or it may have been a mere second. But the inky blackness roiled and boiled, and from its velvet folds came something.

This something was new; it was different from the void, different in many ways. The void was cold, the something was warm; the void was lifeless, the something was life and with its birth from the lifeless womb, it tried to take its first breath.

The void was airless, so the something created air to breathe; and with that it looked around. The something saw only nothing, huge empty nothingness and knew it was alone. So with its first look came its first thought; what am I?

It looked at itself and saw that it was different from the void and had substance; it had arms and legs, attached to a main body along with a head. It glowed like a star and burned with the pulse of a million suns; it was faceless, except for two eyes that shone and shimmered, the eyes were bright holes, with light pouring out like some great bonfire.

With the revelation of substance revealed to the something, its next thought was; who am I?

It floated for many ages, thinking and pondering this new question, until it finally found the answer. "Marzelbur" it spoke, and so the first word of the old tongue was spoken; for it meant light, and so light came to the void from the eyes of Marzelbur and filled the emptiness. Marzelbur felt its mouth, for now it had one, and with this revelation it cried in joy; looking around it saw only light, and knew that it could do more.

Marzelbur floated and thought again; what more could there be to create? As it thought, it realised it was alone, and had much work to do. Marzelbur realised that it could not be in full control of all creation, but would have to lay down the basics for others to help shape.

With this conclusion, Marzelbur spoke "Tuatha, Anon, Zern, Cresna" and so four beings came into existence from the mouth of Marzelbur.

Tautha, the first of the four lesser kindred, the breaker, and the second being of the void issued from Marzelbur and into the void.

Anon, the second of the four lesser kindred, the shaper and the third being of the void issued from the mouth of Marzelbur.

Zern, the third of the four lesser kindred, the maker and the fourth being of the void issued from the mouth of Marzelbur and into the void.

And finally, Cresna, the last of the lesser kindred, the binder and the fifth being of the void issued from the mouth of Marzelbur and into the void.

The four looked at Marzelbur and saw the halo of light, and knew that he had created them for a reason; and so charged with the task of creation, the one and the four joined hands in a circle and spoke the word of creation in five different voices, each with a different task to do. The void was driven back and the fabric of the universe was laid down before the four and the one; to shape and place as they pleased.

So it was, and so it is now that the universe was created by Marzelbur, it was the first story and from it many tales follow. These are the tales of the time before man, these are the tales of the spirits and the land before mortal touch, and so with the speaking of the tales a revelation into the world can be glimpsed by the wise and the cunning. For these tales are truths.

And truth is power.
