This is a fictional letter I wrote fur Law & Ethics class a while back, hope you find it atleast slightly interesting.

To Whom Ever It May Concern, Death, destruction, mayhem... it all began when the Citizens Against Government Tyranny or C.A.G.T. came to power. It was the year 2012, the year government powers lost control to the C.A.G.T. This party convinced enough of the nation's people to turn on their government and force them to give the people "absolute freedom". The government had no other choice, but to agree to their terms. At first all seemed to be fine. That didn't last long. Unfortunately, nothing that promising ever does. Within one year, the fights broke out. Seeing as there were no security forces to protect the average citizen, gangs ravaged in vast swarms all across the nation. When the federal government finally decided to respond to the conflict, it was too late. All out chaos came loose; any military that could have stopped the bloodshed was no longer strong enough to take up ground in gang territories. Soon everyone was either in a gang or target practice. The federal government instated what little power it had left and held New England under martial law... The year now is 2037; twenty-five years after the C.A.G.T forced "freedom" on its citizens. Hardly anyone speaks of them anymore, though the last rumor that ever came around was that all the C.A.G.T. leaders were assassinated by some corporations that had gained influence in the New England area. Average citizens that survived the gang wars and didn't join into the gangs either sought shelter in Canada or joined a society that set up a civilized colony in Nebraska. They promised to protect anyone who chose to live there. The place was guarded by automated gun turrets that would shoot anyone that appeared to be armed with any kind of weapon. They said it was for the defense of the innocent... My best friend was killed by those things just for picking up a stick. I even lived there for a few years... but it sickened me how these people could act like nothing was going on out there, that everything was normal. I will say this though, at least they brought schools back to the children, and my son still goes to school there. At least I can go on knowing he will live in a society that will teach him what he needs to know, but out here... Out in the wastelands, after the gangs took over, many cities and towns went into disrepair, others were abandoned all together. Out here you can do anything you want, just be ready for some gang member to shoot you if they don't agree with it. Retired police officers tried to take up the idea of helping people who needed it. A day later members of a gang came in and killed everyone in the surrounding area, even the women and children. It wasn't until later that I learned that those gang members were killed by their own gang for the deaths of those poor kids. I guess even when there are no rules, there are still rules... So if anyone is still out there. There is still hope. Society can live again, if we try hard enough. If you need my help, you can find me in the wastes, heading east. signed, Your Distant Friend
