#2 of The Last Mission Series

Chapter 2 of this series. warning has lots of gore and violence.

What would you do if you found a wounded woman, and in her eyes she pleaded for help? Would you help her? Or would you just let her die? If you are like most people, you would try to help her in any way you can. But what if she is carrying a lethal illness? What if she was attacked by an unknown creature? What if she wasn't human? Would you help her then?

Lay in front of me is a mortally wounded vixen humanoid. Her hands, with claws that can retract, as nails, on the ends of four skinny slender fingers and a thumb, that are covered in soft white fur. The palms of said hands have pads like a paw. Her white fur runs up to her forearm mixes with reddish orange fur then disappears into the reddish orange fur and reappears under her chin and to front part of her neck and down to he mid chest. Her military looking clothing covers her well but is shredded with long claw slash marks, accented with blood stains around the marks that run down her ribcage to her hips, both sides. Her body shape and slenderness suggest she is between eighteen and twenty-four.

The corpsman I had called forth stands silent in a some what dazed state. I looked into her neon blue eyes that pleaded me to help, and I yanked the corpsman's medic kit out of his hands and ripped it open, my heart pumped adrenaline into my whole body. She struggled to breath; tears ran down her fur covered cheeks. I began to rip open a blood clotting powder packet, and poured it into the wounds and start to see where the largest amount of blood is coming from, her lungs.

"First squad, in here now!" Ramirez yelled from the entrance of the mysterious ship.

Slowly the ten members of first squad snap out of their daze, and slowly walk by the wounded vixen, all stared as the walked past. I continued to try my best to keep the bandages on the worst of the wounds, and finally the corpsman snaps out of it and puts pressure on the worst wound. Another corpsman takes some initiative and steps up taking over for me.

"Sarah." I try to get her attention and get a, "Hm?" as a reply.

"Sarah, take second squad and clear the ship with Ramirez." I order. "If you find any wounded that look like her bring them here as fast as you can. If you encounter anything hostile or filled with bullets you kill it and make sure it's dead. Watch your back Sarah, do not get separated from the group." I finished. She gives a quick nod and leads her squad into the dim lit ship. "Third squad, secure the docking and surrounding area." I order the remainder of the boarding party. Third squad moves quickly to secure the area. I take this time to look at my surroundings; the narrow tunnel or hall has dried blood and claw marks covering the walls and on the ceiling, as well as dried pools of blood and blood trails. What ever attacked the vixen humanoid also seems to be very deadly, only one body though (other then her's), maybe wile they where evacuating this monster (or monsters) attacked then just before take off? From the bullet holes and rebound marks on the walls there sure was a big fire fight going on. The body of the other person lays just a few feet from me. His death was most likely horrible, slow and painful. We all like to think that death is quick a painless but in his case it wasn't. I look back to the vixen still struggling to breath. I take her fur covered hand in my clove covered one. She looks at me then strangely smiles her sharp teeth and k9's showing then the life leaves her face and she starts to shake violently, her whole body shakes.

"Oh god, she's going into shock!" The First Corpsman shouts, pressing her shoulders down to the deck, the Second Corpsman searches for the portable defibulater in his bag, pulls it out and starts charging it. It was a smart decision because she went straight into cardiac arrest.

"Clear!" The second corpsman yells as I let her hand go and the first corpsman clears from her body. The second corpsman puts the paddles to the humanoid vixen's chest and sends the shock through her chest to her heart. Gun fire erupts from inside the ship.

"It's charging the perimeter! Right there! Shoot it!!" Shouts broadcast through the crosscom.

"Fall back! Fall back!! There's more then one! I repeat, more then one!!" Ramirez shouts a retreat. I draw my side arm and turn the safety off. Sarah and her squad run into the tunnel.

"Sir side arms will not cut it, we need heavy weapons." She requests almost out of breath.

"Granted, quickly now!" I order as she as well as her squad hightail it to my ships armory. "Kelly..." I demand, but am cut off.

"Already ahead of you sir, heavy weapons cages are unlocked and tech sergeant is already distributing ammo." He confirms.

"Thank you!" I get up just as the second corpsman shouts, "Clear!" and shoot the defibulater's charge into the vixen's chest. I ran to the gunfire and see six slimy skinned mutant looking monsters round seven to seven and a half feet tall charge a group of soldiers who open up on the monsters. I unload a clip into the monster closest to me. It doesn't even flinch I quickly reload and aim for the head, unload onto the skull of this creature. The monster falls but slowly gets up, I reload as it targets me as I rocket a magazine into the gun and chare it as this beast charges at me and hits my body like a Mack truck, pinning me to the wall, my ribs start to crack as the monster squeezes me into the wall. I slam the muzzle into the monster's eye and unload five rounds into it. As the monster falls back, two more charge at me and shove the troopers aside like nothing as the troops open up trying to protect their captain. As they get closer and closer I can feel the end is most likely and freeze accepting my death as one honorable, visions of memories all some of the best flash in my eyes, my grandfather teaching me how to fish, my father teaching me how to shoot, and my mothers smile when I graduated the academy. I reflect my whole life with in only two seconds and as those great memories fade and these two monsters appear 12 yards in front as time slows. I look to my left two troopers running away from my side, I look to my right a dead trooper lays and I look to my front and see the faces of the monsters, now six yards away, and see pure need to kill me. Their reasons not clear. Maybe they see us as invaders, or as cockroaches, maybe they don't see us at all and only want to kill us for just being here. One of the monsters beats the other and swings a large leg and kicks me across the room like a football. I hit a wall hard and fall to the deck. Sarah's squad fires at the charging monsters with their assault rifles and two troopers open up with light machineguns in their hands, the bullets tearing through the other monsters with violent result. Three more monsters fall. The one who kicked me charges for the finishing blow. As I fade to black I see the said monster stopped dead in its tracks by a single head shot with a high powered rifle wielded by Sarah. Moments later I am fading in and out of continuousness and being carried back to my ship. The next moment I am laid onto the operating table in the sick bay. The next table over lays the vixen.
