#1 of The Lion King Old Stories of the Past

An old lioness by the name of Zuri sat down in front of numerous lion and lioness cubs that were playing and roughhousing. "Alright Cubs gather around and I'll tell you a story that you all will enjoy, in fact it is a true story not only about me but about my whole family, are you all ready to hear it?" she asked them, she looked at all the cubs nodding heads. Just as soon as she was about to begin the story two lion's walked up to them, "Hey aunt Zuri what are you doing?" the male asked, "Oh hey Nyota, just telling the cubbies here our story," "Cool, hey Namna do you want to hear the story?" Nyota asked the female standing next to him, "Sure I'd love that." Zuri chuckled "Alright here it goes."

Our story begins with all the Pridelands animals gathered around at the bottom. What caught their attention was a young baboon, holding up a lioness cub, the name of this cub went by the name of Zuri. As all the animals bowed their heads in respect for the Heiress of Pride Rock the baboon then lowered the cub and began walking back to the parents, Masa the mother and Maana the Father. "Here you go you two here is your little Zuri," the baboon said with happiness in her voice. "Thank you Ponya," Masa said with a smile plastered on her face, "Yeah thanks you will always be our families' healer," Maana said also with a smile. Ponya bowed her head in respect, "Thank you your majesties, I shall be going back, and have a wonderful life with your beautiful daughter and with that said Ponya left. The king and queen smiled and bowed back as the baboon left, "Well Masa honey, I think it's time we put little Zuri to bed she needs her sleep and so do we, we've been up for quite awhile," Maana said with a chuckle, "Yes I guess we should," she then picked up Zuri by the scruff of her neck and carried her inside the cave, "Time to go to sleep Zuri," she said in a muffled voice. As soon as the three went in, their bodies disappearing into the darkness of the cave.

The night was peaceful not a sound was heard only the sounds of the snoring pride, but other than that all was quiet..."Wahhhh!" a cry was heard but all the pride members awoke glaring at the parents. Masa hugged Zuri close to hear chest. "Aww come on Zuri your okay, don't cry sweetie," Masa said in a soft motherly voice that one day Zuri will come to love. Zuri continues to cry, the tired mother smiled and gently pulled her close to her chest and hugged the cub licking her on the top of the head, "Shhh, mommies here Zuri, and so is Daddy," she whispered into the infants ear, then the crying stopped, Masa smiled at this then her smile went even wider as she saw that Zuri began to fall asleep in and snuggle against her chest. Masa then began to fall asleep her head resting next to Zuri's tiny body and slowly drifted off to sleep. Masa's eyes opened slowly and groggily as she felt the little bundle of fur squirm against her body, she chuckled a little to herself. "She's dreaming," she said in a small whisper, she then turned her head to her left to find that Maana was sleeping against her, she smiled to herself, "Maana wake up time for Border patrol you need to make sure that there aren't any jackals out there that can hurt our baby," Maana yawned, "Alright, I'm up," he said as he stretched, "I'll be back in a few hours," he said as he kissed his mate on the head, "Love you," and with that Maana left the den. Masa watched as her mate left the den then her eyes gazed down at Zuri, "There he goes, he is making our land safe for you."
