Sometimes rumors are true...

Shaun was on his way to the haunted manor, he had heard the rumors from some passing trainers. According to the rumors people who went in with their Pokémon never came out again. Shaun was almost immediately skeptical, he was proud to be a journalist who disproved all bogus rumors. With his Crobat he would disprove this rumor and make plenty of money off of it. The trainer with his Pokémon walked up to the building, "So this is the "haunted" mansion, looks more like a haunted house to me." He stated while writing in his little notepad, he took a quick glance around him. The grass around the house seemed to be rotting, "Looks like they forgot to hire a gardener." His Pokémon was hovering around the building looking in the windows, "Crobat come down here, we need to get in."

Crobat floated down towards its trainer albeit with a small hesitance; its trainer was known to punish it for the smallest things. Shaun walked up to the front door and studied the boards that had been nailed over the front door, "God damn it, Crobat take care of this." The Pokémon used air slash on the door and easily cut through the boards, "Good, now let's see what's in this "haunted" house." As the pair walked into the house Shaun involuntarily shuddered, "What was that?" Crobat had a terrified look on its face, "What's your problem?" He asked in a taunting manner, the journalist walked further into the building and started to inspect pieces of furniture in the house. As he started to pick up things and inspect them Crobat started to shiver, it knew that they were being watched by a malevolent force.

The Pokémon as terrified as it was knew that Shaun could be crueler than most any evil force, "Get over here Crobat!" Shaun was annoyed at how cowardly his Pokémon was acting, he had trained it to be a strong Pokémon but it was acting like a baby. As the man with his Pokémon wandered around the building a strange purple goo that stuck to the roof followed them. "This place is extremely quiet, no signs of haunting yet." Shaun muttered to himself, as he wrote in his notepad he noted a smell aroma that filled the air. "What is that scent?" He asked his Pokémon as if it knew, Crobat shook its head noting that it didn't know either. The pair started to sniff at the air and followed it down the hall, as they neared a closed door the aroma become almost unbearably sweet. As Shaun opened the door he nearly gagged when the wall of smell hit him in the face, "Fuck that smells awful!" After letting his watering eyes dry his draw dropped at what he saw beyond the door, the room was full of raw meat. "Oh my..." He ran into a corner and started to throw up, his Pokémon used gust to blow the fetid air away from its master. "Who in their right mind would have a room like this?!" He practically shouted, Shaun stumbled over to the door and slammed it. After taking some deep breathes he quickly scribbled his findings in his notebook, "Whoever is in this house is a sick fuck!" As he stumbled away from the door all of the meat suddenly disappeared from the room, the smell also disappeared. The purple blob wiggled in laughter, its illusion had obviously shaken up the man. Shaun after a few minutes regained his composure, "This might be a hiding place for a murderer, if it is I could get a huge reward!" A greedy smile spread across his face, Crobat sighed in relief. Whenever Shaun had that face it meant that life would be good for the poor Pokémon, as the pair walked down the hallway Crobat realized that they were once again being watched. Shaun started to notice shadows were moving of their own volition, "What the fuck?..."

The foul mouthed Journalist started to realize that the shadows were actually detaching from their respective origins and were dancing in a circle around him. "What kind of trick is this?" Crobat was now completely terrified; the Pokémon knew that dancing shadows were not at all natural. It poked Shaun with one of its wings, "Cro Cro!" It called to him, "What is it Crobat, can't you see that we're on the path of something big?!" He snapped at the Pokémon, the grin on his face had been progressively been getting bigger. Shaun knew that whatever was happening it was big; the purple blob that had been following the pair was now getting excited about this human. Shaun saw a door that was cracked open, "Let's see what's in here." He pushed the door open and peeked inside and his jaw suddenly dropped, the room was infested with spider Pokémon of all types. Shaun since he was a kid had been terrified of spider Pokémon since he had been bitten by one. "Holy shit!" Shaun screamed as he suddenly slammed the door shut before Crobat could see inside, "What the fuck?!" He shouted, his Pokémon looked at him in confusion. As he stumbled away from the door in terror his Pokémon glanced in through the keyhole and saw that the room was completely empty. Shaun was covered in a cold sweat, "How are there so many spiders?!" He was quietly rambling in terror; the purple blob was now quivering in joy it had done its job spectacularly well.

Crobat finally caught up with its trainer and saw that he was utterly terrified, but even so he continued to go deeper into the building. After a few minutes Shaun finally was able to push the horrifying image from his mind, "It was nothing... just my imagination..." He muttered to himself as he noticed yet another door slightly ajar. He walked over to the door and steadied his hand, "Whatever this is it couldn't possibly be worse than spiders..."

As the journalist pushed into the room the first thing he noticed was the rows of books, actually the only thing in the room were rows of books. Shaun blinked in surprise; all of the books had exquisitely drawn covers. The thing he noticed was that all of the covers were actually scenes from his life, "How in the?..." He slowly picked up one of the novels and noticed that it was his name written on the front as the author, he started to finger through the book and his eyes widened in terror as he realized that it described parts of his life in spectacular detail. It explained how during his childhood that he had been an extremely cruel person; he had bullied everyone that he had thought below him. It also said how he had taken every chance to climb the ladder of popularity, even going so far as to slander others. As his hand started to finger though the book faster and faster he became more and more terrified. Whoever had written these books must've been extremely knowledgeable to know all of this.

Shaun's Crobat was watching its master go through the books and realized that its master was utterly terrified, it tried to poke him in the back but he didn't seem to notice. The man was completely and utterly enthralled by the book, Crobat realized that if it didn't leave soon it would also be captured by whatever was doing this; it sadly looked at its master. However cruel he had been to it he had still taken care of the Pokémon since it was a small Zubat. The Pokémon slipped out of the door and quickly flew through the halls and out the doors of the building. The journalist was left standing in the room with all of the books, as he finished fingering through one of the books he dropped it and started at the rest of the books. "Who the fuck did this?!" He screamed at no one in particular, as he fretted over the books the purple blob slid into the room. Now that Crobat was gone it could do whatever it wanted without the pesky Pokémon interfering. The blob studied the man he was cruel, vain, and corrupt. He was absolutely perfect for what it was planning. Many of the others who had entered in the past had been quite weak in both mind and personality, but this one he was everything that the blob was. A gigantic grin spread across the blob, absolutely perfect. Shaun pulled his notebook out of his jacket pocket and shakily started to write his findings, "Whoever is doing this is giving me enough material to write a whole article!" Instead of being terrified like any normal person Shaun was only thinking about money and his own status. The greed was blinding the Journalist from seeing the world around him; the purple blob was now forming into a shape behind him. As the blob slid up into a solid form the grin stayed on its face, two red eyes formed from the darkness. In the place of the purple blob was now a fully formed grinning Gengar. A feeling of evil spread off of its glossy skin, Shaun finally finished writing his notes as he realized that something was behind him. "Crobat what are you do..." He stopped midsentence as he turned around to see the Pokémon. "A Gengar?..." He questioned, the Pokémon grinned at him manically. Shaun looked at his notes and started to piece things together, "You did all of this didn't you? You've been making illusions and have been tricking me." The Gengar was surprised by how quickly the human had figured everything out, "Well you aren't going to be hurting anybody any more, I'm going to catch you!" The man pulled out an ultra-ball but before he could throw it the Pokémon suddenly walked up to him and touched his leg. "What are you doing?..." Shaun asked the Pokémon, what he didn't notice was that a purple liquid has slid off of the Pokémon's hand onto his pant leg. After that the Pokémon grinned and suddenly turned into a shadow and shrunk into the floor, "Where did you go?!" Shaun yelled, he looked around to try to find it but saw that the Pokémon was gone. "Damn it!" He fumed for a few minutes, "Well... I guess I had better go, I have plenty of notes." As he started to walk out of the room he noticed that things seemed taller now. He slowly looked down and realized in terror that a purple liquid was now overtaking his leg, "Holy shit!" The foul mouthed Journalist tried to rip the purple ooze off but it just spread to his hands, "What is all of this?!" The purple fluid was spreading quickly over his body as if to give him no time to get help, at the rate it was spreading he wasn't going to be able to get outside. As he watched he realized that the fluid was literally making his clothes disintegrate, on his legs the fluid reached his shoes and quickly burned through them. As he watched the changes happen he saw that his hands had become claw like and that he had shrunk extremely quickly in the last few minutes. As the changes spread to his body he felt a stabbing pain through his back and he looked back to see a purple stub of a tail sprout.

The fluid seemed to make his body squeeze down into a small body, as the changes reached his face he felt his mouth suddenly start to grow unnaturally wide. As it spread past Shaun's eyes he found that they tilted down now, the changes also made his head spiky at the top. He looked around desperately to find a mirror, as if to oblige a mirror suddenly appeared in a corner of the room. He stumbled towards the mirror and found himself looking in terror at a Gengar. His face looked exactly like that of the one that had changed him; there was no discernible difference between the two. He tried to talk but the only words that slipped out were him saying Gengar. The purple fluid didn't seem to be one with him and suddenly slipped into his ear, it started to spread across his brain. As it spread it spread its corruptive effect into his brain and started to pull out all nasty thoughts to the surface.

It submerged all semblances of good thoughts and brought all corrupt and greedy thoughts out and made them larger. The thoughts that were now becoming so huge started to overwrite his old memories of his human life. The book's that were in the room suddenly started to change from covers of his life and started to adopt the face of Gengar, as if to signify the corruption that was spreading. As Shaun watched he found the thought funny of himself losing his humanity, as if he had always wanted it. Shaun's grin was becoming a genuine one instead of a forced one, the sadistic nature of Gengar overwriting his own personality. As the change finished up the newly made Gengar watched as the last book change its cover into a Gengar. All of the books in the room suddenly morphed into one, the name on the cover changed from Shaun into Gengar. Gengar blinked and looked around the room; it knew that it was time to start preparing the house for its next guest. As Shaun's old Crobat flew away it shuddered as it felt the connection with its Pokeball break. It looked back and thought about going back but decided against it, it knew that its old master was gone.
