"Karen, Karen, I know he's there right now, and I know he's been hurt." Mark pulled the phone away from his ear just as a slew of panicked, jumbled, words were screamed into his ear by a hysterical female voice on the other end phone. "Listen Karen," Mark began, while Karen was calm; for that moment. "Just go in there and be with him. You said it was just a shot to the arm right? Okay, he's going to be fine." Mark finished. "I'll be down there as soon as I can, Alright?" He asked as a piece of paper was waved in his face by a detective, attempting to get his attention.

"Listen Karen, I have to go, I'll see you soon." Mark said, ripping the paper out of the detective's hand and slamming it on his desk next to him. "What the hell is it April? Can't you see I'm in a bit of a household crisis right now?" Mark asked as he hung up his call with Karen.

"What happened? Is little Ace alright?" April asked as she retrieved the piece of paper from Mark's desk.

"No, Ace is just fine." Mark responded as April handed Mark the paper she had been waving in his face moments ago. "It's Lee, he was shot in the arm." April looked puzzled and asked where he was when it happened. "Lee's special force team was called out to assist the DEA in a raid earlier today down on that old abandoned apartment high rise on 1313 Mocking Bird Lane." Mark said as he started to look over the paper that was handed to him.

"Well, it looks like we're headed there now too." Mark said as he placed the paper on his desk. "From the looks of the report there were some pokemon that were found dead in a storage room in the basement of that apartment building." Mark stated as he began to tuck his long sleeved black shirt into his blue jeans. "And according to the report," he began as he dug into a drawer in his desk, "only two survived." Mark finished as he pulled out his firearm.

"The poor things," April said as she retrieved her firearm and suit coat. "It's really just a shame that there are people out there who would hurt, and even kill pokemon." April was securing her firearm at her waist and looked over to see her partner waiting and tapping his foot impatiently. "You know, you're my superior; you're one of the senior detectives of this division, and yet you dress like your still in the drug task force division." April commented as she noticed the long black trench coat, blue jeans, steel toed boots, and black tactical assault long sleeved shirt. "And I'm only going to guess you're still wearing your side arm on your drop down holster." she smirked as she smoothed out the wrinkles in her suit.

Mark crossed his arms when April began to comment on what he was wearing. "I don't see anything wrong with what I'm wearing," Mark commented as he looked down to see what he was wearing. After hearing about his sidearm, Mark laughed and opened the left side of his coat to show a shoulder holster, "Now that, my young apprentice, is where you are wrong." Mark said jokingly. "Now if you are quite done, we have a job to do."

"Oh my god, why in the hell did they have to keep the elevators shut down and make us walk up fifteen flights of stairs." Mark complained as he and April climbed the stairwell of the apartment building.

"Oh stop complaining Mark. I expect something like that to come from my sixteen-year-old, and besides, don't you live in a forty story condominium?" April asked as she looked back to see her partner behind her.

"Yeah, but at least my building has functioning elevators." Mark said with emphasis.

When both detectives reached the fifteenth floor they were greeted by a fellow officer, who led them to the room where the two survivors were being held. "So, John you say when the DEA strike team found this room, the first man through the door found a riolu playing with a ball?" Mark asked as he knlet down on the floor and examined the scattered toys that were left behind.

"That's right." Came a voice from the hallway. "Well, he wasn't so much as playing with it, as opposed to dropping it and running away in fear." Thomas, the DEA agent whom had found Lucario and Riolu, said to Mark as he entered the room. "After a quick sweep of the room, I ventured to the back of the unit to find him curled up next a lucario that I am assuming is the mother."

"I see, I see." Mark mumbled to himself as he inspected the apartment. "Agent Thomas, can you please show me where exactly in the apartment you found these two pokemon?" Thomas nodded and led Mark to the room in the back where he had found Lucario and Riolu.

"I found the female on the bed, with the riolu curled up next to her." Thomas said as he entered the room and pointed to the corner where Lucario had been lying down.

Mark went about the room, searching for anything that could help the case. "Agent Thomas," Mark called out as he used a pair of tweezers to pick up a single black hair. "Are you sure those were the only two in this room when you found them?" Mark asked as he stood to face the agent.

"I'm sure, we even did a secondary sweep of the room to make sure. Why do you ask?"

Mark held up the the black hair to show Thomas, "I just picked this up off the ground, and it doesn't belong to the lucario or the riolu you found in here." Thomas was a bit skeptical on Mark's finding and asked how Mark knew it didn't belong to the lucario. "Because lucario fur is more fine and softer then this, plus," Mark said as he brought out a butane lighter, struck a flame, and ran the flame along the length of the fur sample. "This strand of fur is fire retardant, were this a lucario or riolu strand of fur, it would have incinerated within seconds. Unless my eyes deceive me, it looks to be a strand of houndoom fur."

Mark was given an evidence bag by one of the crime scene investigators, allowing him to go back to searching the apartment. Before Mark could return to searching, April stepped into the room, "Mark, I just got off the phone with the captain, he want's us at the hospital to question the lucario that was found here."

"Oh hello Kai, are you here to see Mr. Rios?" A perky, young, blonde receptionist asked in a cheerful tone as she stood from behind her desk.

"Yeah, Mrs. Rios wanted me to meet him for lunch so he didn't have to eat alone." Kai said in an equally cheerful tone, almost like he was an energetic pup as he approached the receptionists desk.

The receptionist smiled and patted Kai's blue furred head and scratched behind his ears. "Aren't you the loyal pokemon?" She giggled as she pressed a button on her phone. "Mister Rios, your adorable like Kai is here to have lunch with you."

"Ah, yes, please let him in, Sally." Mr. Rios said over the intercom.

Sally moved from behind her desk and over to the door that led to Kai's masters office. "Have fun Kai." She said as she opened the door to the office. Kai thanked Sally for opening the door and received one more pat to the head as he entered the office.

"Master, I'm three seconds away from kill your receptionist." Kai said in his normal tone of voice as he walked towards his master's desk. "Seriously, if she touches me again, I'm going to have to kill her." Kai sat in one of the chairs in front of the desk. Behind the desk was a thirty five year old Hispanic male in a business suit. Nothing about his office was special, it was a simple corner office filled to the brim with filing cabinets and pictures of his wife and children on his desk. The only thing that predominantly was noticeable was the large name plate that "Anthony Rios, Deputy Director, DEA."

"Do you want to tell me exactly why you are here in my office in the middle of the day?" Rios asked Kai as he removed his reading glasses.

"Ah come on master, didn't you here perky little Sally out there, I'm here to."

"Kai," his master interupted him before he could go further.

With a sigh, Kai hung his head, "I'm sorry master, but we've lost the stash house on mocking bird lane. The drugs, half the men, and all the pokemon were found dead."

Anthony leaned back in his chair and began to laugh "You didn't piece it together yet, Kai? Did your brain get damaged when you lost your eye to the special agent Lucario?" Anthony leaned forward once more to show Kai some papers that were on his desk, "I'm the one who called the raid on that stash house." Kai was looking over the papers that were handed to him and was puzzled as to why his master had made this choice. "The idiot I hired on to run that operation was stabbing me in the back, he was taking twenty percent more of the profit each month and tried to lie and say that his distributors had been caught with the drugs, or that the DEA had picked up the pokemon carcasses already filled with the supply." Anthony scuffed. "I don't have time to deal with traitors."

"Master, I....I had no idea that this was going on, I regularly visit that stash house, if......if I had known I would have."

"You would have what, Kai?" Anthony interrupted him before he could go on. "would you have gone back to the Lucario bitch you were keeping on the fifteenth floor?"

Kai was dumbfounded, and speechless. "You.....you knew about her?"

Anthony sighed and began rubbing his temples as he leaned his elbows on the desk, "....not at first, but when I learned that some of the money that wasn't coming in was going to her and a riolu, all I did was put two and two together."

Kai sat motionless in his chair as he knew that trying to apologize to his master was going to be useless. "Oh, and Kai, please tell me that the pup they found isn't yours." Anthony said as he picked his head up.

Kai's ears perked up to the question his master had about his unwanted pup, and had no choice but to answer him. "Ye.....yes, master, it's mine, but it's the only one, I made sure of it, I swear." Kai declared.

"Get back out there, do what ever the hell you can do to get rid of that pup and that bitch, I want them both dead. I don't care if you have to hire the most expensive assassin in the world, I want those two dead before they can talk to the police, do you understand me?" Anthony asked in a hushed, angered tone.

Kai simply nodded and made his exit out of the office, luckily avoiding another conversation with perky little sally. "I knew if I had kept you around that you would cause problems for me, I knew i should have killed you when I had the chance." Kai thought to himself with a chuckle. "You were a good little toy, but now I've got to throw you away."
