Dran and Mist - Chapter Five

Trine: The past has a way of catching up with you.

The river directed its fury into a single narrow channel, the thin strip of fast flowing water roaring along the base of the cliff, its destination masked by the dense forest spread in all directions. Above the sheer drop, there was some break from the trees, the undergrowth ceasing as it neared the edge of the chasm, soft greens fading into dirty brown. The sun's light had finally begun to wane, the crimson sky overhead flashing through the dew to allow a prismatic effect, colour split and flashing over the woods halls. Through the woodland, the noise of two creatures was distinct, the snaps of twigs and branches as they dodged through the slalom, bodies shaded in green and white as the light streamed through the foliage. A man ducked a low branch, continiuing his dash as the renamon beside him simply jumped the barrier: His appearance was typical considering his home; standing at perhaps six feet but now bent low, panting as he sprinted, his hair jet in colour and slicked back into rows of spikes, vaguely oriental facial features twisted into a grimace from the effort of his dash. The clothing was torn in places, neat nazvy jacket bearing a slash across its back, blood passing the white shirt below to stain the material. The overlarge collar flipped upwards as he moved, the clasp striking his cheek before he adjusted it, hand returning to trousers, navy to match the jacket, fingers closing about the small handgun that hung at his waist. The trees suddenly stopped, now only air before him as he skidded to a stop, spinning a quick three-sixty to survey the area, seeing no way to traverse the gap; "Any more bright ideas?"

She sighed, pausing beside him, dropping her smaller frame as he had, hands over knees, bent and panting heavilly in some attempt to catch her breath. She was perhaps the same build as Mist, her main defining features being the black choker circling her neck and the odd colour in her eyes, crimson and amber mixed in some odd pattern; below the black gauntlets, a ring adorned her finger, "We may have lost the-" The renamon's sentence was cut off as he dived at her, knocking the female to the ground as a stream of blue passed overhead. His gun discharged, drawing a scream from the trees and a few seconds later, a dull thud as something collapsed. Stamina recovered, he got to his feet, pulling her up beside him as words echoed in the distance, more joining it, warcries drawing closer, "What are we going to do?"

"We've made it through far worse situations than this..." He removed a fresh magazine from his pouch, clipping it loosely to the side of his belt for a swift reload, "We're just gonna have to fight them."

"But they are my-"

"Dissaproving of us is one thing, but..." He backed away to the cliffs edge, dropping to a knee and hooking his arm around parrallel to the ground, tapping his ring against the side of the gun as he looked back into the silent wall of trees, "They're trying to kill us." The renamon adopted a combat posture next to him, eyes trailing from the digivice at the mans hip to his face. *I have to admit, the prospect of having to fight your own family over something like choice of mate is...* He tried not to meet her eyes.

"Jason?"

He remained staring at the treeline, "Yeah?"

"I'm scared."

Closing his eyes for a few moments, he considered his reply, "Don't worry. We'll make it home after this, no problem... Together - I promise." A few had already appeared, a kyubimon, a male, snarling on all fours, standing beside a female, the taomon larger than the others as it considered her enemies, a few renamon emerging to wait around them. They numbered five in total, the final member of the six person tracking squad having been downed already by the humans shot. The creatures moved forwards, a solid line sealing off the outcropping of rock on which they stood. A halt in their advance as time itself seemed to stop, the attackers surveying their quarry for a few brief moments - each one spread into eternity before one of the renamon raised a paw, halfway through its scream of 'diamond storm' before a bullet passed through its throat, sound dwindling as it fell.

Almost simultaneously, his renamon dove forwards, tackling one of the males, Jason finding a gap under the kyubimon's lunge, falling into a roll as a claw sliced only air. His bullet was swift enough justice, blasting the back of a renamons head as it raised a paw against his mate, her having already digivolved to her next form, tearing and slashing the chest of her victim before being pounced by the larger male kyubimon. He raised his weapon, sliding it along his hip as he went, the additional magazine sliding in to replace his discarded first, trying to get a clear shot- something blasted into his chest, the sheer force of the attack slamming him into a roll, body blasting into a tree as his vision swam, gun falling from his hand, wrist broken, the pain a searing sensation of the arm. He looked up into the face of the taomon, her features split into a grin as he bristled with defiance, drawing a scream of pain from him as she stepped on his broken wrist, shifting to the side to allow him sight of the battle between the two remaining digimon. "No..."

She was still fighting, but at a major dissadvantage, her opponents bulk and strength having been damaging enough, streaks of blood leaking from the cuts that she had failed to defend against, dropping to a knee as he reared up in triumph, extending claws for the deathblow. Yet, his final attack resulted in his own fate, her wounds were shallow, the panting false, legs tensed up as she prepared to meet his attack; springing upwards with all of the energy that she could accumulate, his attack coming from the side, yet she was now already too close for such a sweep, only the arm striking her as her own paw raked across his neck, blood spraying across her face as he fell with a gurgling noise. She looked up in time to be blasted by the same spell that the taomon had used on him, even from such a range it struck with devastating force, reverting her back to her renamon form as she was blasted into the one of the upstanding rocks about the clifftop, crimson staining it as she fell to its base. "Urgh..." Eyes flickered open, enough to see the taomon standing over the groaning human, drawing back her hand as flames errupted upon the palm, letting her watch as she swung forwards, Jason wincing as-

There was a crash, the smell of burnt fur, the following silence broken by the gunshots that pulled the man back to some state of awareness, breaking his daze. Somehow she had got between him and the attack. Somehow she had grabbed his gun and emptied the weapon into the taomon. Somehow his mate was bleeding onto his chest, body limp. "Ren... Ren!" The pain of his wrist no longer mattered; he shifted his body, cradling her head as he placed a hand over the wound, hers closing over his.

"Jason..." Her breathing was ragged, more blood pumping from her with each wheeze, the creature having saved her tamers life now looked up at him, "I'm... Sorry..."

"Don't talk like that," he pressed down, trying to find some way to stop the steady flow of red, salted tears falling to her fur, "I promised I'd get us back, both of us, you can't-"

Her eyes began to glaze over, "I... Lo..." The renamon went limp, hand sliding from his to rest on the ground at her side, eyelids closing, breathing ceasing as she fell from his arms. The screen of his digivice went blank.

"No..." He shook the bloody body, "This can't be happening, this can't be happening!" His hands were covered with blood: Her blood. "You can't leave me - we said we'd always be together! Ren? Ren!?" He faced upwards, the light slowly dwindling as he shouted her name to the heavens.

Xak woke halfway through his scream, the sound meeting an abrupt halt as he returned to reality, falling back onto the bed. The flat was scarcely furnished, a mere place for the mechanics to rest while not working on the vehicles stored in the garage beneath, the place however still had a place for sleep and all of the essentials for extended hours. The space was simply one long room, each section attempted to be turned into its own zone; a kitchen by the entrance, the surfaces grubby, still some abandoned food remaining; the central area some faux living room, chairs scattered haphazardly, the coffee table smashed, glass littering the floor; the furthest section, and where the man lay, a single bed and a small cabinet, across from a bathroom, door open, cracked mirror showing his reflection as he sat up. "Back to... Normal..." He traced his hands over his face, almost as if confirming that it really was him - now dropping them to his sides as he slid out of the chains strapped about his wrists and ankles, their size far too big for his current frame. There was a heavy clunk as they fell to the ground, Xak now sitting at the bedside, head pressed against trembling palms. a faint beep jerked him from his current train of thought, the laptop beside his folded clothes now flashing a warning, the screen flickering as he drew close enough to find the words legible, "Decoding complete... Please enter password."

"Just how common are human - digimon relationships anyway?" Dran leaned back against the archway, glancing over to the sleeping Mist, murmering incoheriently under the blanket as always. The other renamon was busily pumping some fluid through a series of chemistry equipment, the liquid that he had missidentified as absynth the night before was now filtering through a system of spiraled glass, pearling from its form as almost steam to drip into a small vial. Haze had simply wandered out from the bedroom some time later, figuring that the pair were asleep and instead being caught by the human, he was now being grilled as Mist remained unconscious on the couch, some of the days first light beginning to stream through the windows to provide some dim illumination for the room.

He shook his head, tapping the side of the vial as the last few milligrams of the liquid trickled in, glancing up to the far bed containing Trine as he did so, "Rare. There have been a few though, I heard about some couple in America recently in fact - It's not exactly the social norm so it can be quite a big thing... Some work, some just fizzle out but..."

"But?" He was flipping his scanner from hand to hand nervously.

"There was one not long ago that didn't go so well..." He placed a cork into the vial, "In fact, that's putting it lightly, the activists were up in arms."

"What happened?" He had returned the item to his pocket, following Haze into the other room, glancing up and down the cat lying on the bed. He had said something about who she was yet she had remained out of it since the renamon had picked her up.

"I never found out much but - it looked like they went to visit the digimon's pack. The other renamon killed them both for breaking a taboo." He picked up Joyeuse, ignoring the odd feeling that the weapon gave him as he passed it to Dran, the man examining the cutting edge by tracing a finger along it, giving it a swift rotation before returning it to the ground. Some expression crossed his face as he placed it, a strange mix of confusion and realisation that the renamon failed to notice, "Listen, it doesn't matter to me what goes on between you two - but I don't think that you should tell Xak."

He opened his mouth to reply, instead finding himself cut off as the door opened, a rather worn down Xak staggering in, dark patches beneath his eyes. He looked up as they came through, nodding to each of them before grabbing a beer from the fridge, taking a few sips from the can, "Good, everyone's here... We're going on a little trip."

"Huh?"

"I broke the code. But we need a second level password - and the only way we're getting that is if we hit headquarters in Europe, England."

Haze passed Xak, retrieving a pair of beers for himself and Dran, "But can't Dran just use his scanner thing to get it from the Nexus?"

He shook his head, opening the tab of his drink, "The gate's sealed, and theres no longer enough residue for a call out. Its been almost two weeks since I arrived so..." He pulled out the device, "I'm cut off for another fortnight until they check on me."

"We can take a plane to the states... Then a boat from there... Like you said when you called last night, if Cross are involved then most direct routes will be watched. Dran, come with me to the airport so that we can sort out some credentials-"

"I'm coming too." Mist had woken up, kicking off the blanket before she moved over.

"Ok. You stay and watch over the gatomon."

Haze sighed dejectedly, administering the serum that he had earlier procured to the cat, lying back in the chair that he had pulled up to the bed, tapping the syringe a few times before tossing it into the bin. *God knows what the maids are going to think... Then again, they got away with a cracked ceiling and bullet holes in the floor across the hall.* Slowly, his eyelids began to droop, having spent the majority of the night trying to find his friend and then returning to spend its remainder adjusting Xak's formula to work more efficiently on the cat, he was tired enough. Still, he had a few troubles keeping him from dropping into slumber, as well as the fact that he had just pumped Trine full of a mixture of Bio-Angel blood and some crimson fluid that his partner had always maintained, Dran and Mist were... "Is there really anything wrong with it? I mean..." He shuffled down the lounger, crossing his arms about his chest, "Neither of them are familiar with this world, its encouraging to see something like that develop without societies negative influence..." He continiued to ramble aimlessly, mirroring Dran in finding his own voice calming, though slowly he was fading to silence, on that border of sleep; finally, the only sound was that of those slow, deep breaths.

"Urgh..." Trine stirred, hands tracing across her chest to find that her wounds had healed, the bandages falling away as her claw sliced through one of the renamon's tidy knots. As far as the slash went, she felt fine, better than fine in fact; brimming with energy, some element of her anima stirring into life. Slowly, she pulled herself up to a sitting position, yawning as she kicked off the layer of bedclothes, taking in her surroundings; the room was the same, the place where she had left the first time, yet now it was day, the curtains fluttering in a light breeze, the noise of the city beyond the windows drifting through. She sniffed the air, noting the smells that had yet to disperse, picked up by her keen senses, the piles of DVD's that she could see on a distant table clues enough. She shuffled out of the bed, turning to gaze over the sleeping renamon, *Hmph... How ridiculously like him...* She sighed, her ideals coming to mind as she considered her position. Trine would never leave any dept unpaid, a very deep believer in karma, he had afterall, saved her twice and also recovered the sypher... She smiled, one of her ideas drifting through her consciousness, process of thought locking onto it as she began to work it through. She jumped from the bed, performing a full forwards flip before landing silently, brushing off her gloves as she confirmed that she was once again back to normal. "The joys of being an independent..." Her body was already spectral, engulfed in that beam of amethyst light, code slowly rotating about her, her code, reconfigured as she was, appearance changing as she became larger, claws blending into hands, ears shrinking, tail fading, ribbon lacing about her body as wings of white spread from her back, touching down as feathers fell about her. Angewomon exhaled from a held breath, blowing the whistle between her lips as she removed her helmet, dropping it back to the bed, blond hair cascading to her waist, shimmering in the morning light. *Loriel. Because I'm worth it.*

She spread her wings as she dropped to a knee, the air resistance and the shinguards muffling the sound completely, furling them now, she looked up at Haze, inhaling from below him, pulling cold air over his stomach as she traced the inside of his thighs with well trained hands. The successive currents of air and the light caresses were already performing wonders, the renamon letting out a long groan through his sleep, slowly beginning to exude from his sheath, Trine grinning as she took some glee in the power she held over the slumbering creature. Soon it had reached its full length, its finale rewarded as lips sealed about its head, hair brushing against his legs as she got to work, a swift rotation of her tongue drawing forth the first drops of pre, his leg moving slightly as he began to awaken. Haze's eyes fluttered open, banishing the rather pleasant dreams that were once dancing upon the edges of his consciousness, memories of times past, recalling some humour as he remembered Xak walking in on him and Trine, screwing over his desk. As constantly reminded by her, it was all casual, just sex for the nymphomaniac, granted, he hadn't seen her for most of the two months for which the human had been assigned his new partner. Yet one of the dreams did not fade, a grin highlighting his face as he realised the reality of it, a soft bobbing as she progressed from simply giving head, drawing more of his member into her mouth each time. "More of that karma stuff? Ah, watch the teeth!"

She touched down about the knot, letting up from what had become deep throating, pulling herself up, licking about the shaft until she was satisfied. Haze had to resist the urge to force her back down onto it; she loved to be in control of things, in all accounts, and he wouldn't have enjoyed any inevitable retribution. She raised a gloved hand, releasing a clip between her shoulders, unhooking from about her wings, breastplate falling to the ground, breasts exposed, body pale as if surveyed beneath the moon and stars, nipples errect and so stiff in the breeze sucked through the windows that it was almost painful. The renamons claws dug into the armrests of the chair, his anticipation clear as she almost made a show of it, the strap about her waist, holding her remaining clothing to her had fallen away with the breastplate, her remaining gear now loose, sliding down that silky skin as she stepped out of her leggings, tracing a hand between her legs as she covered her sex, covering her breasts with her other arm as she winked mischieviously, Haze sliding to his feet to draw in closer, pulling into a kiss as he disengaged her arms, her wetness sliding against the gruff fur of his legs betraying exactly how much she needed this, her tongue movements as vigorous as ever as she fell back onto the bed, legs now hooked over the side. Hands roamed across her chest, one of them closing about what it sought as the other passed down past her stomach, moving lower, her legs parting as she responded to his touch, the remenants of composure slipping away as a moan escaped her, Haze having finally let up the kiss. He pulled back, manouvering himself into position while pulling her to the edge of the bed, lacing his arms about each of her legs as in a single movement he forced himself into her, feeling that familiar tightness spread by his girth, the calls of lust from the one beneath him edging him on. Knowing how best to please, he changed his movements to match her reactions, speed slowly increasing, his knot brushing against her with each thrust, the amount of thickness that it provided as it made partial entry drawing wimpers from the female. He lowered himself as he could, tracing rough tongue about a nipple, sliding his thumb about the other as his arm twisted past her leg, switching every so often as the added stimulation forcing her to orgasm, the feeling bordering on paining him as he continiued to steadilly thrust, movement coming regularly and automatically, tempo raising at a shallow gradient, each of her climaxs squeezing against him as he continiued with machine-like efficiency. Yet, he could not hold off much longer, even his altruism having its limits, locking her legs down, hastening his movement, piledriving her into some bliss as each movement was met with some high pitched gasp. His knot slipped in as she met another orgasm, the additional lubrication and her newly desensitised entrance allowing him entry, falling forwards panting, the clenching of her walls alone enough to push him over the edge, seed streaming within, collapsing atop her chest as his muzzle rested between her breasts, renamon looking up comically.

The expression on her face was odd enough, looking past him, giggling, Haze slowly rising up from his comfortable position to survey that which was behind them. Beyond the window, the scaffold used by those who would traverse the buildings exterior for masonry work and - there was a wet splosh as a sponge fell from the mans hand. Window cleaners. Wide eyed, his mouth pursed into a perfect zero, the young man, a school satchel on the corner of his platform, staring at the pair. Trine waved. Haze reached over, struggling due to the tie, and closed the curtains.

I toyed with the idea of giving Xak and his mate a little series, but considering parts of their past, I'll probably just slide them a few flashbacks instead. Please rate and review. 'Til next time.
