Ivory Fang - Dawn

This is an idea I've had cooking for about three years, the beginning of a possibly much, much longer story. It contains my own character, which I have had some apprehension about. I am always worried that it feels too egotistical to write about yourself in a work of fiction.

I am very interested in hearing thoughts on this "world" and want to know if there are any of you curious to see how I might expand it. The ideas are already there, but if I'm going to write more of them down I would like to know I am not the only one that can appreciate them.

"You can put those away, we're not here to hunt."

My mentor and I had walked west for several days. I was lead to believe we were coming back with a special 'surprise' for our tribe back home, perhaps some sort of rare meal to celebrate my achievement. Though here I stand with arrows that don't need to be sharpened and I can't help but wonder what we brought them for. "Aren't we? Then what for?"

Quetzal stood in a river, it's sherbert color wrapping around his waist as he washed himself thoroughly in the sunrise, the silver wolf too caught up in his cleaning to look directly at me when he spoke. "We are not here for the same reason. As always I am here to instruct and you are here to do as your Chieftain asks."

I gave him a firm nod in understanding, it was not wise to over question a Chieftain and Quetzal had always given me more than my share. I was an outsider and still he treated me like his own son. I had nothing but gratitude and respect for the old wolf and so I dropped my arrows and made my way toward the river.

"Stop." He finally ceased his obsessive washing to give me a stern and serious look with those piercing dark eyes. "I am washing your obdurate musk from my fur, go walk downstream and mask your scent with mud."

I did as I was asked but not without concern. It was not like Quetzal to give instructions that made little sense. The past several years he had instructed me in the old tribal ways, rituals, and traditions of the Ivory Fang. He was Chieftain but we were both born alphas, though Quetzal has the silver fur of a pure blood wolf, mine is a half wolf mutt's mixture. Anyone can take one look at my hanging hound dog ears, brown mask, or fawn fur to see that I am an outsider. Still, he was practically grooming me to become the next Chieftain once he learned my seed had found his daughter. I knew enough of the inner workings of the tribe to run it in his absence. My scent was especially musk laden compared to the other wolves, not to mention distinctly foreign and different, yet we were so far from the tribe it made no sense for him to go to such lengths to have me cover it so. It was as if he was ashamed to have anything to do with me.

"Are you going to tell me what we're doing this dawn?" My urge to question his new motives were too strong to resist. Though I did so as I grasped the mud in my paws. If one absolutely must question a superior, it should be while the command is carried out.

He groaned in disappointment, staring down at his reflection in the river for a moment before letting his words loose. "Before the sky is blue again you will know." He stood still as if thinking intently to himself. "Do as I command, I do not wish to explain what must happen today. If you've any respect for me, from one wolf to another, you will not force it from my lips. It is not something I wish to speak of."

Grasping another pawful of chocolate mud, I began to place it over the thick fur of my chest and slowly work downward, something was definitely wrong and I could only hope leaving our weapons behind was not a foolish move.

We left everything behind but our loincloths. Weapons, food, even Quetzal's Chieftain accessories were abandoned in the tent. I was to stay distant from him, to follow only as far as I could hear and to halt until he left my sight.

We walked a mile before I saw him standing chest to chest with a brown buck from the Split Clover. I moved to the side of a large redwood to keep out of sight, noticing the deer's attire was adorned with the occasional emerald to match the buck's deep green eyes. I knew very little of the Split Clover, but in the old time Quetzal taught that we were predators and the deer our prey. Is this what we were here for? Could Quetzal mean for us to return with the buck as some sort of trophy?

This buck had soft dark brown fur like wet clay and was definitely the tribal leader and yet he was too far east from the Clover's territory. If Quetzal did not wish any trace of my scent near him, it must be so that I could take the buck by surprise. If only I had my bow, yet if we were not here to hunt, then what for? I had to move closer, just enough so I could hear their voices.

"No need for caution. Am I not the only wolf you detect in the air?" Quetzal's words were faint but I could hear the commanding tone of his voice, it became more clear once I scraped some of the mud from my inner ear. "My tribe was left behind as requested. I stand before you a lone wolf."

The dark buck seemed suspicious, sniffing the air, pacing about the forest, those deep green eyes constantly scanning. Were my fur not matted with mud that blended in with the wood he could have spotted me, if not smelled me first. Eventually he gave up and Quetzal's tactic worked, but what didn't he want me to know?

"Maybe you can be trusted." The buck's voice shook across the trees with more boom than I had anticipated. "Everything is ready at camp, but there is still the matter of your commitment."

The silver wolf folded his arms, giving the buck a firm look. "You'll have it once I've seen what I've been working for all these years."

"Fair enough." The buck approached Quetzal, taking a tiny pouch from his belt and coating his fingers with it's oily contents. I tried my best to find it's scent but to no avail, if I got any closer I would be risking everything the mud cloaked me from.

Quetzal's silver fur appeared golden as the sun began to show it's true form to the forest, it was bright enough to force me to watch from the other side of the tree. I watched with an addled mind as both animals dropped their loincloths and the buck inserted a coated finger into Quetzal's rear. My body wanted to dash forward to defend but my mind held still, full of Quetzal's teachings. The wolf that had become like a father to me was offering himself to prey and the look of pleasured bliss across his muzzle told me firmly that he wanted this to happen. After a moment he dropped to his knees before the buck and began to lap softly at the cervine's balls. This was one of the many sexual customs of the Ivory Fang and one of the more subtle. The act was only done by one male to another to express a great apology, it was otherwise used by females in heat to make sure the male was ready to mate. Though I did not want to admit it, I knew Quetzal was not giving an apology with his tongue.

Emerald light danced through the forest from the buck's jewelry, he kept his tribal attire on, simply licking his lips at the sight of my Chieftain servicing the soft white pouch that held his low hanging orbs. Quetzal's nose was digging into him and I could see his tail both raise and wag at the scent of them. Though faint from my distance, I could smell it too, it seems our tribe was not alone in having a preference for males with a strong musk in power.

"You can lick until your tongue goes raw once we're back at camp, I've been waiting too long to seal our bond in seed to delay any longer." The buck's voice had a bit of tenderness under the boom, though it was becoming all to clear that he was the more dominant of the pair. If Quetzal let himself be taken under the tail he would be giving something all too sacred to the emerald buck. Though there was never a mention of non canine animals, a Chieftain that allowed another male inside of him would be giving up all of his power in doing so. If Quetzal let the buck mount him then the buck would not only be leader of the Split Clover, but the Ivory Fang as well. "Submit to me in full like a good wolf is supposed to and I will rut you in ways my does can only dream of."

The wolf stood face to face with the buck, leaning into his muzzle tenderly and the two shared a passionate kiss in the forest shade. "I've waited too long as well, Ionas, do not rush what we have had to be so careful for. If I desire to arrive to your camp with a sore tongue, would you deny me that pleasure?"

Impatience eventually faded into a soft smile and the buck's lips found Quetzal's once again. "I don't want you to be denied anything ever again. Take your time with me then, but we must head back before noon."

"Even you couldn't last that long." I believe Quetzal smirked, if not a smirk then a grin, he was clearly pleased with the buck's answer and it showed. as he returned to his knees, lapping his tongue along the buck's sheath and balls, coaxing the long cervine member out into the dawn's light.

Could the two truly be lovers? None of the Ivory Fang would have seen this coming. Quetzal was a brilliant leader, a ruthless warrior, nearly every female in the tribe had shared his tent at one point, yet there he is, sucking a deer's cock. Right in front of me no less, he has to know I'm watching so why would he possibly want me to see this? Quetzal took his time and as morning approached the two were much easier to spot in full sunlight. Ionas, the buck, was an incredibly majestic creature. He was almost lithe like most of his kind, yet quite a bit more muscular and would have a height advantage on Quetzal and myself even if it were not for his massive antlers.

Ionas' member had become fully exposed at this point, after a while it's length was even too much for Quetzal to suckle upon, though to my continued surprised it wasn't without lack of trying. The two were grunting and groaning at this point, their exchange of pleasure an undeniable reminder of how intense sexual desires can grow if left unattended. Still, I dared not touch the throb in my sheath.

Without another word the two seemed to know the time had arrived, Ionas applied more of the oil to Quetzal's rear and I watched as the powerful buck grasped my mentor by the tail, mounted, and shoved the majority of his blood red member inside. The old wolf's face ground into the dirt, his tongue falling out as Ionas pushed the rest of himself to the hilt. Hips were still for about three breaths before the dark buck began to rut Quetzal like a bitch in heat and from the look of my Chieftain's knotted member bobbing between his thighs, he was loving every bit of the long cock inside of him.

"You're being gentle with me." The old wolf grumbled.

Ionas settled his hips, and grasped Quetzal's to keep him steady. "I enjoyed your muzzle for so long, I want to make you feel just as good."

"If you want me to feel good then put those seductive muscles to work."

"I don't wish to hurt you."

"Then rut me like you mean it, Ionas. I need to be broken in."

Within moment's the buck's hips began crashing into Quetzal with an impact my ears could not ignore. Over and over he removed just enough of his member for me to see the base of his red shaft before slamming home again. "If you wish to hobble back to camp, then I'll give you what you want." Ionas ground his teeth together, losing himself in his thrusting as he screwed Quetzal harder and harder, then faster in rhythm until he was almost being too rough. The wolf's limbs struggled to find steady ground as his ravaged body was plowed over and over by the horny buck.

"That's the buck I know." Quetzal's voice was full of joy, I had only heard him use that tone around his daughter or when new pups were born. "I can take it, just keep at it until I'm nice and full."

"Won't be too long." Ionas' voice was gasping for air. "I can't keep going this hard for much longer."

At this point I had made peace with what was happening in front of me. I would stick it out until the end and hope Quetzal would explain to me what took place this morning. Every time the buck hammered into my Chieftain I felt like I was looking at a completely different wolf. I wasn't born in the Ivory Fang, Quetzal taught me how to hunt, how to fight, to sharpen weapons and build shelter. He was like a father to me, if not something more so. Even if I could understand this side of him, the tribe would never look at him the same again.

The sun rose high enough to cast a leaf speckled shade on the two, the buck's emeralds illuminating the two in a green glow. It wasn't until I saw it in this light that Quetzal had already came, the distinct scent finally escaping the dark buck's wild scent and finding my senses.

Ionas' voice cried out into the forest, his head thrown back in ecstasy, "Such a good subby wolf." His jumping hips began to slow down to a gentle motion, his balls throbbing as he marked Quetzal in the most dominant of ways. His body hovered over, hugging his male partner for a moment or two before he gradually pulled himself from my mentor. That cervine member seeming longer and longer each time it revealed itself. "Watch your step getting up, I left a lot of myself in you."

"I can still feel the warmth of it." Quetzal growled playfully at the dark buck, "I'll get you back for those comments later."

"You know you love a little bit of bite when I tease you."

"Maybe I do."

"We need to get to camp." The buck's voice returned to it's natural boom, a hint of concern underlining the firm tone. "There is no going back for either one of us, are you sure they will be able to survive without you?"

Quetzal nodded, the wolf wobbling as he found his way back to his feet. "Yes, one knows enough to keep the tribe together."

"Your protege?" Ionas made his way back to Quetzal so he could look the old wolf in the eyes. "We may not be safe if he knows too much about us. What did you tell him?"

"As little as I had to. He will do fine if he remembers enough." Quetzal increased his tone, he wanted to make sure I heard that last part. "Let's get moving, we have a past to leave behind."

The buck nodded, "I'm sure they will be fine, Quetzal. The Split Clover will learn to live without me as well."

The two walked off and that was it. I made my way to their mating spot after they walked out of sight and I gradually cleared away their scent for any that may happen by. I hiked back to the river and washed the mud from my body until I could see the cream fur on my chest again. Their words felt so final and upon entering the tent I shared with Quetzal the night before, it's emptiness was all too much like a goodbye. I sharpened my arrows, packed up the tent, and headed back to the Ivory Fang. Quetzal's tribal bands and accessories on my body, it was all of him that remained. The surprise it seemed, was myself as our new Chieftain when I returned home.

I had completed the tribe's teachings, yet I did not feel accomplished. I was to lead all those I loved, but I felt no power. Several days of thinking the same thoughts. Every tent I set, every meal I caught was a reminder of what would never be the same again. How could I possibly explain what had happened this week without going against Quetzal's wishes? It was the old wolf's attachment to me that gave weight to my reputation among the tribe, if they could not find a way to respect his choice they would never follow the lead of an outsider. I would not lie to my tribe, my only family, but only a tactful answer would hold things intact.

Quetzal would have known what to say, but Quetzal was gone.
