The 8th installment of the Human Origins Series, enjoy and comment!

This installment will be told exclusively in Syreth's point of view.

I was being led somewhere by him, his paw comfortably resting in my hand. The forest itself was quiet, as if respecting the fact that we were here. Looking around, I could even see a few male moths, tracking down the scent of their mates and fluttering together.

Then my lover stopped, turning around to look at me. Those beautiful silver eyes locked onto mine, and we briefly kissed, letting our soft lips touch, as a aura of love and warmth seems to wrap around our bodies.

After enjoying our expression of intimacy with each other, he sweeps his arms underneath my legs, and I find myself being cradled by him, being held close to his furry chest, enjoying the ever arousing scent being made ever present by him.

Feeling all the love I should've had years ago, I was finally receiving, all from my strong yet gentle, firm yet sweet, love, Luxikam.

"Syreth..." He said, nibbling on my ear softly.

"Yes?" I replied, enjoying all the attention I was being given.

He didn't say anything back, but just readjusted his hands, so that they were somewhere.... less innocent.

"Syreth, Syreth, SYRETH!"

"Huh?"

I was awakened by a loud scream, more specifically, a call from my parents, with my mother wearing her simple yellow nightgown, which in my opinion was just a bed sheet with some strings holding it together, but of course I'm not going to say that out loud.

My father was wearing his old blue pajamas, which seemed more like a tank top and a pair of shorts, considering how they were ripped from both the knee down, and the shoulders down. I never really noticed how poor we look, I guess Luxikam took my mind off of that fact, since he makes me feel rich, at least mentally and emotionally.

Speaking of which, where is he? I look all around my room, but do not even see the slightest sign of his former presence. I do however notice that the window was slightly ajar, so my best guess is that he saw my parents coming and proceeded to escape before they could check on me. Such a careful one, he is...

"Honey, are you alright?" My mother asked, putting her hand on my forehead as if checking my temperature. The contrast of human skin touching my body, and wolf fur touching my body seems so great to the point, that I'm no longer as comfortable with the so called, "Human Touch" anymore.

"Yeah, I'm fine Mom, why wouldn't I be?" I replied taking her hand off of me and putting it back on her lap, seeming to only increase her anxiety.

"Well..." she started, "When we came home a few hours ago, I noticed that your door was left open, which seems unusual since you typically close your door."

Just how closely do these people watch me? I change one tiny thing in my routine, and they become suspicious.

"So we decided to check up on you, given the opportunity and such. When we looked inside, the window was all the way open, although I couldv'e sworn it wasn't when we walked up to the house." she continued, twiddling with her fingers.

"Then of course there was you, with three scratches down your arm." She further said, removing the sheet hiding the rather large amount of bandaging around my arm. "Your shirt was in the bathroom, and it had blood on it. Did you get attacked by something? This obviously doesn't occur naturally."

"Uhhh..." I wasn't exactly sure how to answer, because I wasn't sure how these injuries got there. Then again who am I kidding? There's only one suspect who could do this, and that's Luxikam. The real question to ask, is why?

"I knew it," My father said, walking towards my window. "Some animal hurt my boy, and I'm not standing for it. Alright Syreth, describe it for me. I'm going hunting."

"No!" I yelled back. I know my stepfather's been hunting for quite some time, about 30 years if I remember correctly.

Remembering some of the stories he told me about his own upbringing, how his father taught him to study the behavior of other animals, how to disrupt animal senses and instincts, and many other unconventional methods, needless to say he was a worthy adversary for any animal. Although Luxikam is rather strong and smart, I don't want to put him up against such a dangerous hunter.

He also has strong family sense, so if I'm hurt by something, he's not the one to let it go, but he'll retaliate harshly and unforgivably. Family is everything to him, although I've always felt like a investment with regards to him.

"Tell your father the details, Syreth." My mother said calmly, rubbing my hand for reassurance. I know she's just as afraid of him as I am when he's angry, but I can't risk putting Luxikam in danger.

"No..." I replied, and thinking of an answer I further stated, "I'll take care of it, I want to get better at my hunting." I tried to put on my most devious smile, curving my lips upward into a sinister grin. Ironically, I was trying to picture the way a wolf would smile at his prey.

She was about to say something in response, but my stepfather stopped her. "That's enough, Marie. Syreth is determined to avenge himself, and I admire that. He knows not to take pain just lying down, so let him do it. I'm proud of you son."

Without another word, he left the room, and shortly afterward, my stepmother, apparently stripped of all need for a rebuttal, followed.

I'm not exactly sure what happened myself, but I need to find out why I was scratched. I still trust Luxikam, for he once again had a opportunity to kill me if he so desired, but I doubt that these slight injuries were meant to cause me pain, for I don't even feel them.

Putting on a brown shirt with a few rips in the lower back, and just dusting my pants off a bit, I went into the kitchen where my stepmother was standing, preparing a little sack for me.

Upon seeing my torn-up clothes, she shook her head slightly, and handed the small bag to me.

"Here's some money dear,go to Lefea and buy yourself some more clothing, and some proper hunting gear if your going to go kill whatever attacked you." She simply said, then turned her back towards me.

"Thank you." I replied, and after a bit of hesitation, I briefly hugged her. She seemed surprised at first, but quickly returned the warm embrace. I don't hug her often, but out of some sympathy for how she must feel, I just did. It's not easy if your opinion seems irrelevant to the situation at hand, especially if it's disregarded by the person you supposedly love, your own husband.

Turning towards the door, I was about to go outside, but just as I opened the door, she asked me a question, I wasn't sure how to answer.

"You already know what did this to you, don't you?" She inquired, not even turning around. She just continued to wipe down some old plates that we had with a hand-woven dishcloth.

I didn't say anything back, becuase I feared anything I say would give a hint to her, but saying nothing doesn't exactly help either. Just deciding to continue walking, for my pause in responding shouldv'e been more than enough of a answer, I walked out the door.

"Be careful." I heard her say from a distance as I walked back out into the forest heading towards Lefea.

Almost immediately, I could see some tracks in the dirt, moderately fresh, and although I'm no expert, I could assume that Luxikam made them.

The main reason for my suspicion? They led to a burly oak tree with a piece of paper hanging out of the hollow hole in the trunk, one that looked like it was torn out of the notebook I keep near my nightstand. It was neatly folded, and dirt only covered the edges, so it was perfectly legible. Taking it out and unfolding it, I leaned up against the tree, and began to read.

"Look me in the eye, what do you see?

Someone who was broken inside, full of misery.

But now I have somebody new, somebody to treat me right.

To talk to lovingly, and to hold me each and every night.

That person is reading this letter, oh yes that person is you.

A guy named Syreth, so caring and gentle, with a heart so true.

Meeting you has changed my life, and I really do love you so.

The newly developed feelings for you I am never letting go.

So is there truly any reason to debate,

Why Lefea will be where we first date?"

Love, Luxikam

My cheeks flushed to the color of scarlet, my normally pale face turned as red as a rose.

I couldn't hide the red glow that came over my face as I read such a poem. Instead I muffled with my hand, a girlish scream as my heart fluttered with embarassment.

Luxikam is waiting for me at Lefea, and seeing how he came up with something like this, I can only imagine the romance that he has planned for me there.

After finally returning my body temperature back to normal, and folding my first love poem into my pants, I hurry along to Lefea, anxious for the surprises that wait for me there.
