Don't You Dare.

Story by Grievous Girl on SoFurry

, , , ,

This was it . . . did death feel this way? Was it really so clean and so simple to take in and process? Not like she had room to process this in the certain sate of things.

Giselle's life literally depend in on hanging factor, small hands held around a black boot that had only tried to kill her nine or fifteen times; sliver buckles shimmering from the lava's glow below her. Beyond the boot was the leg, the leg that was attached via flesh and blood to the one woman who made her short life a living hell. Red hair - red as her furry and loathing for Giselle' for the blood she shared with a dead woman.

All of the pain, the death, for the abused emotions of a stricken lover. Such a small but filed goal; driven to the point of death.

The girl did not let go of the red haired woman as they hung off the edge of the black soot rail -both holding onto dear life.

"MOMMY!!" The small child, same fire hair as he mother, ran to the edge of a nearby dock - skinny arms holding out to the woman who birthed her; tears clouding the blue of her eyes. She was scared, and all she wanted was her mother back. "T-Take my hand Mommy!"

Giselle's hands slipped a bit as the older woman reached for her child, gloved hands slipping further and further away with each small struggle to pull herself back to safety. But it was a futile motion for each time she moved, her and Giselle dangled more and more into the flames of the inferno bellow.

They would both fall and burn.

Giselle did her best not to lose focus, the pounding pain in her head mixed with the massive blood loss form her chest overwhelming her other senses. She felt too many emotions to tell out in a clear sentence; broken. Her Green eyes looked downward, the silo's supply of burning lava being her only sight for miles, and then back up the reaching arms of the child.

For a few minutes the world seemed to slow down, and Giselle was able to see it all. The way the tears ran down the once innocent face of the little child, the way her elder clawed to get to said child, and the bond they shared; burning bright in all the chaos. This gave Giselle Pause.

From the corner of her eyes she saw another set of hands trying to reach out to her, the hands of people she cared for deeply - her friends. They were her lights of hope in the struggle the universe found itself in, war and death, but in that instant it all seemed so bleak. Like all the luster was gone from the ideal.

At first, Giselle's eyes looked from her friends and back to the pair of red haired humans; then back to her friends. This villain had taken all she had from her, and yet . . .was it right to do the same? Did two wrongs make a right? She did not have to think another second for the answer.

Giselle looked back to her friend, one in particular who stood out among the crowd; eyes locking and not wavering. This was it . . . did death feel this way? Yes. At the thought her hands began to loosen up on the boot, getting the attention of everyone present, even the enemy. The older human gave Giselle once small glance; fear building up in her eyes as she got the idea. " . . . No. No!! Don't you dare!!" The words to Giselle were drowned out. "DON'T YOU DARE!"

Finally, her fingers let go - screams in her head and from those who cared for her - a last gasp from Giselle was she plummeted to the red death that waited below; black hair flashing around her round face and startling eyes not moving away from the people she had the honor to know in her twenty two years of life. Giselle could feel the heat as she fell further and further, encasing her skin and armor in a warm blanket of reassurance.

It would be fast, and it would be painless. Or so she hoped.

If Giselle had one regret, one thing she could have done differently. It would have not been saying what she really felt in thought her life. The Real Giselle, the real emotions that lay hidden underneath the act and lies.

Giselle spoke, eyes closed and the words muted by the noise all around her. "Goodbye . . . my world."

I've had this one written up for a while now, but haven't published it and stuff. Thought I'd fix that. lol
