Now for the epic conclusion to the gym battle. Was it really that easy for Evens to win? Why did Dante say his Pokémon had to evolve to win? What secret power does Bisharp hold? Finally tired of me ranting? Me to so onward to the story!
Steel vs. Shadow
"Battle, BEGIN!" Bisharp and Zoroark are on opposite sides of the field when Bisharp makes the first move. His speed was similar to that of Zoroark's mom when they first met, Evens could barely see anything until Zoroark moved to dodge a metal claw. Almost as soon as Zoroark side stepped Bisharp was in her face with a dark pulse. The move connected with the center of her chest and she went flying hitting the wall. As the dust clear Golett was the one to fall from the creator in the wall. Bisharp moved to catch Golett before it fell into the water. "Golett is unable to battle Bisharp is the winner." Bisharp carried Golett to Evens and placed it on the ground, "you Pokémon should be ok, but I would like to have a match with Zoroark now." Evens was frozen, 'that was fast, I don't think Zoroark can even keep up with that speed.' Zoroark squeezed Evens forearm, "I saw every move he made, don't worry I can keep up." Evens was confused at how Zoroark knew what he thought until he saw Dante motion to Gothorita who nodded. Zoroark stepped out onto the field. Golett woke up, "master what happened, I took the field and then I hit the wall." Evens knees down next to Golett helping it stand, "you dodged Bisharp's first attack but got hit by his second." "I don't remember ever getting hit." Evens patted Golett on the back, "it's fine Zoroark is going to battle now." The butler stands at mid field again, "are both trainers ready?" both nod, "then battle begin!" morgana giggles, "now it's time for the main event, Bisharp I want you to honor our guest with your best match understood?" Bisharp turns and knees in front of morgana, "of course my lady." Zoroark looks back at Evens and gives a toothy grin, "if I win will you take me out to dinner?" Evens smiles, "if you win I'll take you to dinner and a movie." Zoroark's face lights up. Both Pokémon square off on opposite sides of the field, neither making a move. A few seconds pass before the slightest movement is made and they are both gone, a mix of colors appear in the center of the field rolling around in mid-air. Dark pulse and shadow balls fly everywhere as one tries to land a hit on the other. Zoroark manages to get a foot on the ground and grabs Bisharp by the back of the neck and throws him to the ceiling. Morgana looks at Bisharp, "grab the rafters and await orders." Bisharp steadies himself in a cat like way and grabs hold of the rafters. Zoroark and Bisharp are both slightly out of breath, "I didn't think there was anyone left who could match me in speed." Zoroark steadies her stance waiting for Bisharp's next move. Morgana orders, "Bisharp bring me her head, use guillotine." Bisharp launches himself from the ceiling with both arms crossed and glowing, "Zoroark F.N.D. now!" everyone in the arena is confused some whisper, "What does F.N.D. mean?" Dante smiles remembering what he told Evens a few days before arriving in the city, "there is going to be a time in the match when you aren't going to have enough time to shout every move so what I suggest is that you shout the first letter of each attack so that your Pokémon can respond quickly." The current combination that Evens ordered was Faint Attack, Night Slash, and Dark Pulse. Bisharp crashes through the after image of Zoroark, he is still trying to get his hands out of the ground when he is hit with the remaining two attacks. Bisharp is sent tumbling across the field, he combat rolls to his feet. Bisharp seems unfazed by the direct attacks he just took. Zoroark takes a deep breath, in that moment Bisharp moves in past Zoroark's range of reaction. Bisharp hits her with a dark pulse sending Zoroark crashing through one of the boulders on the field. Before she can hit the ground Bisharp is behind her with a metal claw. 'Fuck Bisharp is too fast for Zoroark to keep up.' Bisharp connects with the metal claw sending Zoroark sprawled out on the ground in front of Evens. She is not moving, the butler steps forward, "Zoroark is unable," Zoroark twitches and slowly brings her paws underneath her to lift herself up. She manages to get into a seated position, "my apologizes, let the battle continue." Bisharp doesn't move, "I will wait for Zoroark to ready herself." Zoroark slowly gets up holding her side, "I think I broke a few ribs." Evens looks her over then looks over Bisharp. Zoroark is beaten but is not bleeding; Bisharp has a few scrapes and is slightly out of breath. Evens looks to Zoroark, "do you think you can just dodge his attacks for the next two minutes?" Zoroark squares off, "just two minutes right then you'll have a plan?" "The two minutes is part of the plan, after I'll ask that you pull a fun house." Zoroark has a worried look on her face, "I haven't perfected that yet." "Well now is a good time to test the limits." Zoroark nods, she readies herself for Bisharp's next move. Bisharp leans forward and then disappears, Zoroark disappears not long after. Morgana just has the look of complete amusement, "this battle has lasted longer than the one with Red." She is sitting on the edge of her throne, "your Pokémon have done quite well to have come this far." Evens is still trying to follow the movements of the Pokémon. Evens is counting from one twenty down to zero. When Evens gets to ten he shouts, "Zoroark use fun house!"
Zoroark stops moving, Bisharp is only momentarily stopped before he slashes through Zoroark only to hit air. When Bisharp turns around he is in an abandoned house, he does a three sixty to see his surroundings. As he takes a step forward a chair flies across the room Bisharp makes no move to dodge as he thinks it is an illusion. The chair slams into the side of his head knocking him down. He springs back up looking to where the chair was, "so the house is an illusion but the furniture is physical." Outside of the illusion Zoroark is invisible but Bisharp is seen wondering around the field lost. Not even morgana can get through to him, "Bisharp listen, you have to overcome this." Bisharp is oblivious to his master's orders. Chairs, tables, and couches fly at Bisharp some are illusion and other are real. Bisharp is exhausted; desperate he readies a metal claw. Zoroark who has been attacking him since she started the illusion gets behind him to deal a finishing blow when she sees something unexpected. Bisharp hits himself in the side of the head almost knocking him out. Zoroark temporarily breaks the illusion due to loss of concentration; Bisharp rolls to his feet and quickly locates Zoroark and moves. Zoroark decides the illusions won't anymore and charges him head on. Evens can see that Zoroark can't take any more damage, "Zoroark end this with shadow ball!" morgana worried about her Pokémon orders, "Bisharp finish this with dark pulse!" both Pokémon charge until they almost head-butt each other. Both thrust their attack forward, a huge explosion erupts sending earth and water everywhere. Evens, Morgana and everyone in the crowd wait for the dust to settle; when it does there is a huge hole in the field where water has filled. Both Pokémon are not moving but are face up in the water. "Neither combatant is able to battle the match is a draw, the win goes to the challenger Evens." Evens jumps over the water landing on the edge of the field, he jumps in to the crater and drags Zoroark to the field and goes back and does the same for Bisharp. Morgana slowly walks to the field; a metal bridge extends out into the field for her to walk across. Evens is kneeing by Zoroark trying to get her to wake up. "Hey Zoroark wake up the match is over we won." Zoroark slowly opens her eyes and from her view Evens is wrapped in a halo of light, she sits up and quickly kisses Evens. Morgana was standing in the way so no one in the audience could see what happened. Evens is frozen at what happened, when he was going to question Zoroark he saw that she had gone back to sleep. Morgana pats Evens on the back, "don't worry she is just showing her gratitude." Evens nods and carries Zoroark in his arms. Dante shows up next to Evens, "told you that I'd bring someone capable of beating you." Morgana smiles widely, "yes you did, being the gym leader has a lot of responsibilities so if I can have a fun battle like these then that makes it worth it." Morgana hands Dante the badge, "since your hands are full Dante can carry this for you." Evens nods and heads to the Pokémon center.
At the Pokémon center Evens drops his Pokémon off and changes out of his wet clothes. After an hour Evens is buzzed down to the lobby. When he gets there nurse joy is talking to Dante, when she sees him she grabs her clipboard. "It seems that your Zoroark has three broken ribs and her right forearm bone bruised." She flips the page on the clipboard, "typically we put the trainer on watch if a Pokémon come in with injuries likes this but since you had challenged the gym we put the case in the acceptable injury folder." "Acceptable injury folder?" "Yes it is a folder where we put cases like this, if the trainer has entered into a gym battle or tournament then the case is over looked due to the Pokémon pushing its self to hard." "What if that wasn't the case?" "Then we alert the police to do a soft investigation to see if the story the trainer has given checks out." "Like if they were attacked and the Pokémon was injured because of it." "Yes the police go to the area that the trainer describes and if everything checks out the trainer's case is put in the wilderness attack folder." "Ok so how long does Zoroark need to be in here?" "About five days for her ribs to heal and she will need to not use her arm for about nine days for it to heal properly." "Nine days I thought it took longer for bruised bones to heal?" "Well that is the case for humans but Pokémon heal at a much faster rate, so it is never longer than two months for a Pokémon to fully heal any broken or bruised bones, also we are putting her in a special chamber to accelerate the healing process." "So the nine days is with the healing chamber?" "yes." Nurse joy pushes a button behind the counter and an audino comes out with his Pokéballs on a trey. Evens grabs the Pokéballs and brings out Dewott and Golett. Both Pokémon stretch, Dewott looks around, "where is Zoroark?" "She is resting right now." As the group talks the doors open and morgana enters the Pokécenter with Empoleon, "excuse me nurse joy has Bisharp been looked at yet?" nurse joy pushes another button behind the counter and audino appears with a Pokéball, "the checkup has been made and your Bisharp has some bruised ribs and a dislocated wrist, but with a few days of complete rest he should be just fine." Morgana takes the Pokéball and walk toward Evens and Dante. Empoleon sees Dewott, "Dewott you fought well, not many others could accomplice what you did." Dewott beams, "I thought I wouldn't be able to keep you out of the water." Evens leaves and walks to the room Zoroark is in. when he enters the room he see her floating in a water tube with a breathing mask on. Evens sits down in the chair by the chamber, the EKG machines rhythmical beeping put Evens to sleep. For the next few days Evens routine was wake up, have breakfast, go to the gym and watch a few battles, go for a walk, visit the Pokémon center, then go back to bed.
On the fifth day Evens wakes up and goes to the Pokémon center. Dante went with to get his Pokémon that were tired from yesterday's king of the field battle. When they both enter the Pokémon center Evens is greeted by Zoroark, "Evens today's the day they release me." Zoroark was ecstatic; she had woken up on the third day and had to put up with being locked in the tube for the remaining days. Nurse joy gave Zoroark a stern look, "now listen here, you have to be careful you were just released so you have to take it easy." Zoroark pouted and cuddled closer to Evens. Dante picked up his Pokémon and the group left the center. They have breakfast and Evens and Dante figure out where to go next, "I say we head toward Crystal city." Both are looking at the digital map. "Well how about we go to Castelia City." "I hear it is a copy of New York." "It isn't, but I see your point then we'll head there and challenge the next gym." They finish breakfast and are on the road again.
*Well that ends another chapter. The next one I'm still thinking of the situation. The egg might even hatch; I don't know trying to get a feel for the right time. Well until the next one. *
