Book 1: War For Gilneas

Chapter 7, A New Ally,

Malderon raised his war hammer in defence for any attack made by the Worgen in front of him. The Worgen stared at Malderon for a good 3 minutes until it disappeared, Malderon knew better, the worgen's was originally a rogue class, it could disappear then reappear in an instant, stabbing you in the back before you could react.

Malderon needed to be careful, with his new highly developed sense of smell and hearing, he was able to guess the location of the worgen. To his left he swung down hoping to catch it off guard, he missed. The worgen that had dissapeared had reappeared, growling it jumped at Malderon raising a dagger horizantally to block any attack and raised the other dagger vertically, attempting to strike a blow to Malderon. Malderon took a few steps back to avoid the jump attack made by the attacking Worgen.

The Worgen dissapeared instantly it hit the ground, avoiding the blow from Malderon. The war hammer's blow struck the floorboards with enough force to crash through to the other side. expecting a blow from behind, Malderon swung his hammer around; he hit the Worgen, the enemy Worgen smashed into one of the beams of the boat. The Worgen stood there stunned for a few seconds then sprang back to life, angrier than ever.

The Worgen dissappeared, preparing for a strong attack Malderon raised his hammer and braced himself for anything. The rogue appeared from behind and stabbed Malderon in the back; nearly piercing his lungs, just as quickly as it appeared it vanished. Furious, Malderon turned swinging his warhammer, hoping to hit his attacker but inevitably missing and striking one of the walls of the boat. Malderon removed his hammer and water rushed in, spreading to every inch of the floor. As soon as the water reached all of the corners, the footprints of the rogue appeared. Malderon swung his hammer down upon the rogue, mortally wounding it. The rogue lay unconscious on the ground, visible for all to see.

Malderon raised his hammer but hesitated bringing it down. He could not kill a fellow Worgen, knowing that it was once human, he could neither leave him behind for the forsaken either; Malderon grabbed the unconscious Worgen and raised him over his shoulder, Malderon was going to carry him back.

Reaching the top of the boat, Malderon went over the side, hitting the water and almost losing the precious cargo he carried. Reaching the shore he saw that humans and undead still fought, the humans losing the will to fight, and the undead never losing an inch of will. Their control was not their own. They were being controlled by somthing, or somone, but who, or what!

Malderon was able to carry the rogue all the way back to the farmhouse where Godfrey was waiting for him. "Another one of your, experiments Godfrey?" "No, I have never seen this Worgen before." "Well, treat him well, I know who he is, he is an ally, a rather errogant and stubborn one but an ally none the less; Both captains of the ships are dead, with them gone the undead should have backed off but they are not." "I know why" "You do?" Malderon looked confused and concerned, "Clean yourself up first, while your treating your wounds I'll take care of him." Godfrey passed Malderon a roll of bandages. As Malderon took off his armour and attended to his wounds, he watched as Godfrey took out a seringe and a vile of yellow looking liquid, he filled the seringe halfway and injected the worgen with it.

After he injected the Worgen with the liquid Godfrey immediatly restrained the worgen to the table, stopping it from hurting itself, and others. The worgen immediatly woke up, shocked, it tried to get up but the leather binds stopped it from moving, panicing it yelled at both Malderon, who was now looking down at it from the side of the table, and Godfrey, "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME! WHY DID YOU BIND ME!?" its voice was as deep as Malderons, "We bound you for your and our own saftey, if the serum didn't work and you woke up, you would have tried to kill us all." "THAT STILL DOESNT EXPLAIN EVERYTHING!" "You have been cursed, by a worgen, the curse turned you into one. we tevived your humanity by giving you a serum that i made from studying your kind, does that answer your question, beast?" Godfrey looked annoyed from answering all the worgen's questions, Malderon stepped in so there wouldn't be conflict, "Ok, thats enough, lets start with your name, do you remember what it was?" "WHY SHOULD I ANSWER A BEAST! AND WHY DO YOU KEEP REFERING TO ME AS ONE! IM HUMAN I TELL YOU! HUMAN!" Godfrey god angry, he picked up a broken shard of a mirror that was in the corner of the cellar and showed the reflection of the worgen, "You are not human...not anymore, you are a filthy beast known as a worgen." "And I am not a beast, I am a soldier, for king Graymane, and for Gilneas, you know me, I am the soldier from the rooftop battle with the alpha, my name, is Malderon Ragewielder, I ask again, may i know your name?" the worgen stared at his reflection in the shard and started to calm down a bit, "Gabriel, I go by Gabriel Longclaw." "Well met Gabriel, Graymane could use another Worgen soldier, and I could use a friend at this time, what say you?" Gabriel stared at Malderon and said, "Release me, and I will aid you." Malderon grinned as Godfrey released the strapps, Malderon held out a hand to help Gabriel up and he gladly accepted. "Well, now that the foremalities are out of the way how about we get down to business"

Malderon and Gabriel turned to Godfrey to listen to what he had to say, "You may have killed the captains but the undead are still being lead by someone, now I found out who that is, its the general, hes the underling of whoever send the foresaken here, if you two take him out, we can stop the horde from getting a foothold in this land." "Understood, where is he though?" "He should be out near the front lines, a general always sees a plan through with his own eyes." Godfrey turned to Gabriel who was still on the table his daggers were still in his hands, "Here the least you could do is put some cloths on, I found these a while back when I was out hunting." Godfrey went through his trunk that was behind him and took out a black shredded hooded cloak, and a black shredded leather pants and cloth shirt. Gabriel put them on and sheathed his daggers through his pant's belt loops. He was a rogue, and now he looked the part.

Malderon and Gabriel left the cellar, they made their way to a battle between more undead and humans, when they reached the battle they looked around for the supposed general who was running the show, Gabriel nudged Malderon and pointed to a skeleton that was riding an undead horse, the skeleton had on dark armour that glowed with a melevolent purple aura, and a sword that looked like it was engraved with magic.Malderon and Gabriel looked at each other and they both had the same idea in mind, get close, draw his attention away from one of them, and take him out.
