#4 of The Map To Everything

Here's a science fiction story I've started a while back. I'm still working on it. It's a lot longer than the previous story and this one has no porn. Maybe some adult situations, but it's relatively rated R for the most part.

It's set in the distant future. Earth has been drained and discarded, Mars has been terraformed as best it could, and the people(or furs) of Earth have moved on, spreading across the galaxy. And this story is centered around a single object, left on Earth and the people hoping to find it.

Chapter Four The Creature from the Blue Lagoon

Chris Stone scanned the wastelands of Earth for the past few days. He'd already made a trip to Mars just to refuel. He was a ram. Horns colored in blue flames. His fur dyed to match it. The bridge of his ship empty except for himself and littered with empty soda cans. Heavy Metal was booming all around him. He was riding a caffeine high, vigilantly searching for any signs of a hiding place. He knew there was treasure. His client insured him there was. Somewhere on this dead planet. He had just come from a place called New York. He found little. His computer, in the monotone male's voice said, "Chris, I have encountered a distress beacon. Would you like for me to pinpoint it's location?" Chris looked at the screen in front of him. It wasn't too far from him. He asked the computer, "Who would be out here? Another treasure hunter?" The computer stated, "It's an outdated military transporter. Probably a smuggler, or treasure hunter. Maybe some sort of merchant." Chris nodded, "Alright, let's go check it out. He might need our help. Can you gather any info on the ship?" As he sped towards the beacon while the computer stated, "Model US00293745 Army Unit Transport Ship. Ship Name: Alice. Pilot: Captain Norman Fletcher. Status: Temporary Psychiatric Leave." "Wait, he's still in military? With an outdated ship? Why?" Chris said, more to himself than to his computer. "Perhaps he's grown attached to the ship. Some people do. Like, you, I would hope." "Of course. I love you like a son." Chris chuckled. "I am pleased to hear that." Replied the computer, "I believe that we could get a reward for the rescue of this man. Should he still be living." Chris nodded, "Yeah, seriously. We can come back to this rock when we get our reward." The computer then said, "We have a message from a Colonel Ferguson." "Ah, shit." Chris sighed, "Alright, bring 'im up." There was a beep and a woman's voice filled the room, "Hello, Mr. Stone." "Hi, mam. Something wrong?" replied the ram. "I gather you have already received a distress beacon in your are, correct?" "That depends.." He leaned back in his chair, turning the autopilot to lead his ship towards the downed military ship. "Yes, there will be a reward." She sounded frustrated. "Then sure, I'll pick up any survivors. You seemed stressed, you military types should learn to relax some." "I'll relax when I'm dead." Replied Ferguson. Chris grinned, "I know! You need to find yourself a man, get laid. Y'know, I'm free til tomorrow.." "That's quite alright, Mr. Stone." She said, bitterly, "I have far more than my share of pricks all over my ass right now." Chris smiled, "Kinky." "Fuck you!" Replied Corporal Ferguson, then there was a beep and silence. Chris looked over the terrain and saw the pillar of smoke closing up on him. He was nearly there there. He opened another soda while his ship landed beside the wreckage of Alice. The ship was in pieces. A man was laying beside it, cloth around the canines muzzle. Chris grabbed a bottle of water on his way off The Creature of the Blue Lagoon, taking one more sip of his cola before heading out into the wasteland of Earth. He walked up to the man and asked, "Norman Fletcher, right?" The man looked up to him, squinted and nodded. He voice was hoarse, he seemed to be in pain, "Yeah. You mind helping me up?" Chris nodded, handing the man the bottle of water, wrapping the other arm of the man over his shoulders. They slowly made there way back onto the ship. Chris helped Norman into one of two cabins on the ship. He got the German Shepard into the bed and said, "We'll be on Mars in an hour or so. Just sit and try to relax, man." Norman nodded, drinking the water he was given. Chris went to leave when Norman stopped him, "Wait. What were you doing on Earth, anyway?" The ram turned to face the man, "Was looking for something." "Looking for what?" Chris smiled, "Anything and everything I want." Then walked a short distance to the bridge. He got back to the controls and lifted off. As the ship made it's way out of the atmosphere of Earth, he turned to the computer screen, "Hey, computer. Get Colonel Ferguson back on." "Yes, Chris." Replied the computer's voice. There was a beep and a man's voice came up, "Hello, Mr. Stone. How may I help you?" "Hey, where's Ferguson? I was hoping to chat with her again." Chris made sure to sound disappointed. The man cleared his throat, "She is taking a walk. Did you find Captain Fletcher?" "Yeah, he's hurt. Where am I taking him?" There was the sound of typing then the man replied, "I'm sending you the coordinates to a space station orbiting Mars, now. Please hurry." There was a beep and the man was disconnected. On the computer screen was the picture of the space station he was going to. Chris got up and said, "I'm going to take a nap. Can you take us there, computer?" The computer replied, "Yes, Chris. I will let you know when we are nearly there." Chris made his way to his own cabin, discarding the leather jacket, kicking off his shoes to the side of his bed before throwing himself onto the mattress, the lights dimming.
