Chapter Six Coming Out

Nick watched the sun rise through the blinds. Adam was sound asleep, head on Nick's chest. He didn't remember sleeping, though he couldn't tell if he had really been awake the whole night. He felt exhausted, completely drained. Something in his felt dead now. Images of what happened the night before were permanently burned into his eyes. The sounds of the gun, the smell of the spent gun powder. It made him cringe. It came in waves. First he started breathing fast, his eyes poured out tears as he rolled up into a ball. It must have woken Adam up for he heard a worried voice of his partner somewhere in the back of his mind. He felt exposed again. Helpless anxiety filled his now empty shell. He didn't know why it took him so long to start screaming, bawling like he had never done in his life. Everything seemed to hit him at once. Adam tried to comfort him, though Nick's mind was too far away from the bed to notice. He tried to think of the words to comfort himself. "He's dead. I killed him!" He told himself over and over, but they didn't seem to help. He could think of nothing to help. He didn't even know exactly what was wrong. Why exactly he was losing it. There wasn't a reason. He was finding it harder and harder to breath. Gasping breaths didn't do the job. He hugged his legs tighter, sobbing into his knees. Any presence of Adam was gone now, he was alone for all it mattered. Just him and raw unadulterated fear of something Nick couldn't comprehend. At some point, the exhaustion took its toll. Nick found himself waking up to the sound of someone cooking in the kitchen. It was dark. He looked at his clock. It was around eight in the evening. He had been asleep for a while. He was feeling a little better, now that he had passed out for a while. His mouth was dry. First thing he could think coherently was that he needed water. He stumbled out of bed. His legs were sore, making it difficult to walk. Everything hurt. He felt like he was going to throw up. Abandoning his quest for water, he ran into the bathroom, dry heaving violently into the toilet a few times. Without thinking, he turned the water on in the sink, drinking heavily from it. Like he had been dying of thirst. Like the sleep, the water helped him feel a bit better. It was still hard to walk into the kitchen. Adam was cooking something. It smelled like rice being fried up. As he stumbled into the kitchen where he saw Adam at the stove. Adam left the pan of rice he had cooking to help Nick into a seat. Adam looked worried. Like he was going to cry at any moment. Nick imagined he looked rather weak. Adam hugged him tight and shakily said, "How are you feeling, hon?" Nick shrugged, "I.." Hearing his own voice this way made him quite. He sounded so frail. He couldn't understand why this was happening. He cleared his throat, "I'm better.." Adam hugged him tight, "I'm glad. I was so worried about you." with a kiss on the lips, Adam stood up, "I made you some rice.. You hungry?" Nick nodded as Adam went back to the food. He served the food to Nick when it was finished. He ate it quickly. He didn't realize how hungry he really was until he started eating. After lunch, he was feeling almost normal. As normal as he felt he could be. His muscles ached a bit less. Adam ate with him, silently. When there were finished, Adam cleaned up, Nick stood up to stretch his legs. Walking up to Adam as he was washing some dishes, standing directly behind him, pressing his chest against Adam's back, reaching his paws around to help clean some. Nick rested his head on the husky's shoulder. Neither of them said anything. Something felt wrong. He still felt something missing. Adam must have noticed it. Nick saw Adam's head turn towards him and said, "Are you feeling better?" Nick nodded a bit half halfheartedly, "I'm feeling a little better. Can you spend the night here, tonight?" Adam nodded, "Of course, just let me go home and pick some stuff up." Nick got small surge of longing as Adam mentioned home. Nick froze for a moment before saying, "Could I.. Spend the night at your place? I don't want to be here tonight." Adam stopped washing his dish, "I.. Um.. Sure, yeah." "Something wrong?" Nick replied. "No.. No, it's okay. I'm sure my parents will be okay with it." Nick hugged Adam tight, "Thank you, hon." He still sounded a bit weak. He then gave the husky a kiss on the cheek and walked into the bathroom to shower. Leaving Adam to finish the last dish.

* * *

Roger was sitting on the couch with his wife, Lena. She was worried. Adam hadn't come home last night, nor had he called. Roger had his suspicion of what was going on. It wasn't the first time Adam hadn't come home. He spent many nights out with friends. Spending quite a few weekends growing up at Megan's house. Lena had already called Megan, who had cracked, also unable to contact Adam since she heard about the shooting on the news. Neither of the two parents had heard about it, and Megan hadn't told them where Adam had been. It was a while before a car Roger recognized pulled into the driveway. It was the cougar's. Nick's car was being parked outside. Lena watched as Adam stepped out of the driver's seat. Lena watched Adam help Nick out of the car. Roger saw he demeanor change. She lost that worried look and started getting angry. Roger imagined it was the exact same face she made when he came home that morning. Lena got up and walked calmly into the kitchen. Roger waiting for Lena to finish ranting at Adam before he walked into the kitchen. She was so angry, she hadn't noticed that the two younger furs were holding hands. Roger noticed. Nick looked like he didn't want to be here right now. He looked sad. When Lena had finished telling her son off, Adam started crying. He told her everything. He explained everything that had happened. Where he had been, and who he was with. He ended with showing Lena that he was holding Nick's hand and said, "Me and Nick.. We've been dating.." Lena went silent. Roger stepped in, "Are you okay? Did you get hurt?" Adam shook his head, "No.. It happened so fast. Nick shot the man." Nick looked to the floor, remaining silent. Roger hugged his son, then Nick, Whispering to the feline, "Thank you, Adam could have been hurt." Something stirred in Nick. This was what he wanted. Roger was bigger than Adam. Something was so much more comforting than with the younger husky. He hugged back, tight and said, "It was nothing.. Really." Lena spoke up, "Well, thank you, Nick. I'm glad my son was not damaged." She said in a dry sort of way, and walked out of the room. No one spoke. Nick looked over to Adam, who shrugged, "Dad..?" "Yes, Adam?" Roger forgot that he wasn't supposed to know about them two, he was already used to the idea of his son being with Nick and had not been shocked at all when Adam told about himself. "Are you okay with it?" Responded Adam. "Okay with what? "Me.. Being.. The way I am.." He gripped Nick's paw tight. "Oh. That. It's fine, Adam. I'm just glad you're safe." He really was glad. He didn't want to know what would have happened if the Hyena had shot up the bar. Adam looked over to the doorway to the next room, "Mom doesn't look too thrilled.." "Look, I'll talk to her. She was raised... She grew up in another part of the country than I was. Don't worry, Adam." He paused, the tears starting to form in Adam's eyes made him try and find some way to comfort his son. He smiled at Adam, "I still love you just as much as I did when I first held you. " He hugged his son, "Nothing would ever change that." Nick looked away, ignoring the personal moment. "Thanks, dad.." Adam let go of his father, feeling a lot better. Roger looked at Nick, "I'm sorry, this is probably a bad time to be meeting me. I'm Roger. Adam's father." He extended a hand, which Nick shook, "Nice to meet, you, sir." Nick said. "Please, call me Roger." He looked back, "I should go have a talk with Lena.. I'll be right back." Roger than headed into the living room where his wife was pacing. Quietly, Roger said, "What's the matter, dear?" Lena shook her head, "You know what's the matter." "He's still our son." Replied roger. Lena hissed "He's your son!" Roger had to stop himself from raising his voice too much, "I distinctively remember the entire process of creating him. I was there." "It's all from the father's side. I read it in the news. This is your fault." Roger sighed, "You are not being fair to him. How have you become so cold." Lena raised her voice, loud enough for Adam to hear, "Since my only son is a faggot!" Roger felt a pain, something he knew Adam would be feeling a whole lot worse hearing that out of his own mother's muzzle. Roger decided he'd raise his own voice, "So what? He's never disappointed either of us. He's a great son." Lena looked like she was looking for something to say and then exploded with "I am not having any of this!" Lena threw her arms up in a angry way and stormed off into her bedroom. Roger sighed, Adam slunk into the room with Nick. They sat on the couch. Roger looked over to the two, "I'm sorry. I tried." Adam shrugged, sort of helplessly, "It's okay. Can we stay here tonight?" He looked to his parent's room, as if asking his mom. "Stay here as long as you want. It's my house, it is always open to you." "Thank you, dad." Roger nodded, and walked over to the kitchen, leaving the two alone, making himself some coffee and some food, feeling unable to find anything to tell the two.

Adam and Nick headed into Adam's room. Adam fell on his bed, sighing, "That went a little better than I thought." Nick snickered, "I figured your dad would have been the one to freak out." Adam shrugged, "Nah, my mom's always been like her side of the family. Dad was always alright about these things." Nick nodded, "Well, I'm glad I can stay here.." He sat down next to Adam, holding him close, "Sorry I pressured you into it." Adam shook his head, "You didn't, honey, I would have had to do it anyway. Are you feeling any better?" Nick nodded, "Yeah. I really need to get out of my house for a bit. Thank you for letting me stay. It really means a lot to me.." Adam smiled, "Yeah, well.. You mean a lot to me, too." He stared into Nick's eyes. Nick grinned, looking back into Adam's. Leaning over to kiss him. Adam kissed back, wrapping his paws around the feline, "I love you, Nick." Nick smiled, "I love you, too." He kissed Adam deeply. Adam returned the kiss, his paw reaching down, groping Nick's tailside softly, getting a murr out of the cougar. Nick whispered, "Are you sure we should?" Adam nodded, "If you want to.. We won't be bothered." With that, Nick, smirked, taking his shirt off, grinding lightly against Adam's growing tented pants, "Mmm.. Make love to me.." Adam smiled, nodding, taking his own shirt off. Soon the two were undressed, groping at each other, kissing passionately. Laying down, the two kissed, pawwing one another members. After a few moments of this, Adam looked under the bed for some lube he hid down there, which he bought when they first started going out. He returned, lubing up his cock, Nick lifting his legs to present himself to be taken by Adam. Which Adam did. Inserting himself fully into Nick, leaning over to kiss his mate, reaching down to stroke Nick's own member while he started to pump in and out of Nick. Both trying to be as quiet as possible. Nick held onto Adam. He felt a relief while they fucked. Like he felt normal again. He began to enjoy himself more. He let the feeling of love back in. Giving himself fully to his perfect mate. He felt that he could be with Adam forever. That feeling he had all day went away. He felt it would never come back. Adam could fill all his voids. Adam's breathing became heavier, as did Nick's. They were both getting closer to climax. It was Adam that reached it first. Thrusting hard into Nick, letting himself orgasm deeply buried inside his lover, while swiftly stroking the cock in his paw until it twitched and jerked, shooting the white substance all over their chests as Nick moaned out softly. They started kissing again, professing their love for one another. When it was over, Adam held onto Nick as he fell asleep, nuzzled into his neck, as peaceful as he has ever been. Nick was starting to fall asleep, too, when he was feeling empty again. Something wasn't right. He hated himself for this. Adam didn't seem to be working now. He knew he was wrong. Adam had done nothing wrong. He was everything he would have wanted. He couldn't figure out what it was that he needed. The feeling was going to drive him insane. He thought it might be some kind of post traumatic disorder. He realized, he needed to get himself examined. He promised himself he wouldn't lose it. He had to be strong.
