Chapter 1

Somewhere in a small village by the sea filled with creatures of all sorts a single Fox will make his mak in history as the worlds greatest hero ever.

"Zac are you up there bro?"A sweet sounding female voice called up into a large tree, She is a fox and is about 16 years old 5'6 golden brown fur silver eyes long blue hair with a red bow in it and a long bushy tail, she is wearing a white top with blue jeans."ZAC!"

"Yeah I'm here Mars!"A male voice replied from in the tree.

"It's almost time Zac, come down and get ready to go."

"Tch, I don't see why I have to go...I hate going anyway..."

"But Zac we do this every year and we go through the same thing..."

"Yeah I know Mars but I don't see why we don't just kill the damed thing and get on with our lives..."

Mars looked down and leaned against the tree sighing."You know as well as I do that Phoenix is the only thing protecting the village...it's what we have to do...I want it dead too but...we have to bring it the tribute..."

In reaction to Mars' words Zac jumps out of the tree with a stern look on his face, Zac is also a fox and is 17 5'9 with reddish orange fur red eyes short blace hair and a short but bushy tail, he is wearing a white T-shirt with black jeans."Fine, but what does it want this time?"

"I don't know Elder hasn't told me yet."

"That thing does nothing but make matters worse here and everyone knows it...why doesnt someone do something?!"Zac said snarling and grinding his teeth.

Mars sighed and put her hand on his shoulder trying to calm him down."Zac...please just go get your stuff from home...I'll be waiting with mom at the church."

"Fine..."Zac then began to walk away with his hands in his pockets looking at the ground frustrated."That damed phoenix...we could easily fend for ourselves...Dad...I wish you were still here..."As Zac arrived as a medium size stone house he walked in picking up his backpack and sword and a big blue coat that once belonged to his father to conseal his sword in, as he headed out he noticed a picture of his father holding him as a newborn cub smiling."...I'm gonna do it dad...I'm sorry but someone has to do something I'm gonna finish what you startedn 8 years ago..."He then closed the door and headed tward a small wooden church with a cross atop it he pushed open the wooden doors and walked in and stood next to his mother.

"Alright...I'm here..."Zac said with a tear in his eye.

"Honey...what's wrong?"His mother asked him, She seemed to be about 36 but no one knows for sure she dosen't like for anyone to know her age thus no one knows her birthday, She is like her children a fox and is 5'8 orange fur with pristine blue eyes and a pair of glasses on she is wearing a flowing blue dress with long sleeves that flow in the wind and, like her daughter, a long bushy tail.

"...Nothing yet mom..."Zac said looking away from his mother hiding his tears.

As Zac turned away a pair of double doors slowy opened as a tall 6'2 and 50 years old slender Demidragon with gray scales and a black coat with matching pants on.walked through it he has blue eyes and is pretty masculine for and old dragon.

"Elder Markus it's good to see you again."Zac's mother said kindly.

"Indeed it is..."Markus said with a look of fear on his face.

"Elder whats wrong?"Mars said conserned.

"...I...It....Martha can I talk to you privately?"Markus said as he walked back through the doors trying to hide the fact that something was horribly wrong.

"Yes."Martha said walking through the doors with Markus.

When the two of them were on the other side Markus shut and locked the doors to ensure no one came in.

"Zac...what do you think they are talking about?"Mars said fearfully as she looked at the doors.

"I don't know...and frankly...I don't care..."Zac said not contentfully.

"....How can you say that?!"Mars said as she turned to her brother and grinded her teeth.

"Simple...I have a plan no matter what they are talking about..."He said as he turned to face Mars sighing as he noticed he a bit pissed at his remark.

Mars then ghasped and put her hands over her mouth."You are gonna...kill it aren't you?"she whispered quietly.

Zac slowy nodded his head and closed his eyes."It's had it too good too long...don't try to stop me..."He then gave Mars an evil look as he opened his eyes half way.

"I won't...I'll...help you..."Mars said turning away from Zac."But how are we gonna do it Zac? It's virtually a god!"She said loudly.

"Shut up loud mouth! Mom might hear you! And...there is only one way that I know of...and i need your psymagic."Zac said putting his arms around Mars holding her close.

Mars blushed a bit and pushed Zac off of her walking a few feet foreward."Y-Yes thats right I almost forgot."

Zac smiled and walked nest to her and sighed."Heh yeah Dad's sword."

As Zac finished the two of them herd a shreik of terror come from behind the double doors.

Zac quikly turned around and rushed to the doors as Mars followed him as they reached the door it flung open as their mother hugged Zac tightly with tears in her eyes crying.

"M-Mom whats wrong?!"Zac said as he hugged her back.

"It's you Zac..."Markus said closing the doors behind him as he approached Zac.

"Me what do you-"Zac stopped himself halfway as ghasped and backed away from his mother.

Mars' eyes widned as she caught on."M-My brother is gonna be that things lunch?!"She said with tears in her eyes.

"It's for the good of the village Mars calm down...your brother should be honored to accept such a task."Markus said as a tear rooled down the right side of his face.

Mars turned to Markus and growled at him."HONORED?! FOR GOD'S SAKE HE IS GOING TO BE EATEN!!!"Mars screamed as tears rolled down her face non stop.

"...It's ok Mars...I'll go...alone."Zac said as he exited the church.

"Zac!"Mars said wiping the tears from her eyes as she chased after him.

Martha then burried her face into Markus' chest crying as he held her close.

Later in the middle of the night on a cliff facing the sea Zac stood looking up into the full moon as it shone a beautiful color white upon the sea.

"Looks like I'm going to have to fight anyway...so be it."Zac said as he looked into the sea with a faint smile on his face.

"I'm not letting you go alone Zac...I'm comming with you."A voice said as Zac helt someone hugging him from behind.

"...Please Mars...I don't want you involved...it's me it wants..."Zac said as he turned around.

"Hehe you always have had a thing for knowing whi everyone is, anyway is it not you the one who needed me for help earlier?"Mars said hugging him again.

"I know...but I thought it would only want another money offering...but then again I guess it was only a matter of time untill it craved innocent blood again..."Zac said growling lowly.

Mars sighed and turned away from Zac"Yeah...dad was the last living offering..."She said trying to hold back her tears.

Zac approached her from behind and wrapped his arms around her lightly kissing her on her cheek."Don't worry...if you do choose to come...I'll protect you Sis...I promise."

Mars blushed and kissed him back."Please be cereful though Zac."

"I will don't worry...but we better leave early..."Zac said smiling a bit.

Mars giggled lightly and sighed."Yeah Mom...I hope she will manage without us around."

"Don't worry Markus will look after her I'm sure."Zac said turning to face the sea again.

Mars held his arm as she faced the sea with him."Yeah...but we better stay here...so she won't know we ever left."

Zac sighed and lied back closing his eyes."Good idea."

Mars yawned and rested her head on his chest and fell fast asleep.

Zac sighed and yawned as he looked up at the sky one last time."Dad...please forgive me for getting Mars involved..."Zac closed his eyes one final time and fell asleep.
