#7 of A trainer's story

Battle, Badge and Revelation

(Two days after Jake and Ryan arrived at Oreburgh City. 7 am)

"Hey, are you okay, Ryan?", Jake asked concernedly and placed his hand on Ryan's shoulder as he noticed a tiny blush on his cheeks, "Did you catch a fever?"

"No...I'm fine.", Ryan replied, still blushing as he glanced at Charmeleon, who was also blushing a little, "It's just...last night...Never mind. Let's go to Oreburgh gym. I'll explain everything once you defeat Roark and win the badge."

"Okay, if you say so.", Jake shrugged and looked at Lucario curiously, but the aura pokemon could only shrug cuz he was just as clueless as his mate.

(Oreburgh Gym - 7:30 am)

Jake and his companions were standing right in front of the Oreburgh Gym's entrance as they were getting ready for Jake's upcoming battle.

"Jake, remember everything I told you, and you'll surely win.", Ryan said and gave his friend a reassuring smile.

"T-thanks.", Jake replied, trying his best to stay cool, but he was actually quite nervous. This was his first gym battle after all, and even though he had battled many trainers, gym leader was something different. It wasn't only a battle, it was a war, and Jake knew he couldn't affort to lose. The trainer was lost in his thoughts when he felt a soft, furry paw grabbing his hand.

"Don't worry. It will be okay. I'm with you, everyone is with you.", Lucario said as he squeezed his mate's hand gently. Jake felt a smile forming at the corner of his lips. Lucario was right. He had his pokemon and Ryan to support him, so there was nothing to be afraid of. Beside, they didn't train their butts off for nothing. Getting on his knees, Jake hugged Lucario and gave the pokemon a quick kiss on his cheek, making him blush, "Thanks pup."

...

After everyone entered the gym, they saw a very dark corridor, which was barely lighted enough to walk through. As they walked to the other end of the corridor, the gym's main area appeared in front of them.

It was a very large room, which the battlefield at the middle and blue-colored bleachers at both side for the spectators. The battlefield was filled with rocks and boulders, and Jake quickly spotted the gym leader, Roark standing at the other end, right in the opposite direction to him and his gang. Roark was wearing a regular grey miner's outfit with some gold parts and black boots. He had crimson hairs, a pair glasses, not to mention a cocky smirk on his face. Jake wondered if he always looked like that when took on challengers.

"Greetings fellas, this is Oreburgh Gym and I'm the leader, Roark, but you may also call me Roark the Rock.", Roark shouted across the gym.

"Roark the Rock!!?? This guy's nuts.", Jake thought as he tried to hold back his laughters.

"Hi. It's a pleasure to meet you, Roark 'the Rock'. My name is Jake and I'm here to take your badge.", Jake said rather mockingly as he could no longer hold himself back and actually let out a quiet snicker.

"Very well then. As the Gym Leader, I need to see your potential as a trainer and the toughness of the Pokémon that battle with you!"

Ryan gave Jake a thums-up, "Good luck, pal.", and the trainer smiled, "Thanks.". With that, Ryan and Charmeleon made their way to the bleachers. But before he could go, Charmeleon outstretched his hand as he offered a handshake to Jake, much to the trainer's surprise, "Good luck, and thanks for giving Ryan that translator.", the fire pokemon said with a faint blush. Jake gratefully accept the handshake.

Taking a deep breath, Jake told himself, "Okay. Let's do it."

...

Soon, a referee entered the gym's main area and stood on a side of the battlefield, "This is a three-on-three battle. The challenger is allowed to switch his pokemon during battle, and the winner will be the one who knocks out all three of his opponent pokemon first. On your left is the Oreburgh Gym leader, Roak. And on the other side, is the challenger, Jake.", the ref annouced, "Now, let the battle...begin!!!"

"Then I'll start!", Roark shouted as he took out a pokeball and threw it to the battlefield, "Come, Geodude!". The ball opened as it hit the ground, revealing a Geoduce after a red beam of light.

"I'm counting on you, Lucario!", Jake declared. The aura pokemon nodded as he leaped over to the battlefield and gracefully landed on the rocky surface. Lucario then cracked his knuckles and quickly went to the battle stance.

Silence swept over the battlefield as both pokemon were glaring at each other intimidatinglingly, waiting for any signal to charge at and beat the shit out of each other.

"Let's do it. Geodude, Rock Throw!", Roark ordered and the ground pokemon obliged as he punched the ground, creating a small fissure on the ground right beneath him, and the impact made rocks and small boulders on the battlefield fly towards Lucario.

"Is that all you got?", Jake chuckled, "Lucario, quickly dodge and use Close Combat!". The aura pokemon nodded as he swiftly moved from left to right and vice-versa, avoiding the rocks and advancing closer to Geodude at the same time. Before the ground pokemon even realized it, Lucario had already stood in front of him.

"What the...", Geodude exclaimed and attemped to get backwards to keep a safe distance between him and the aura pokemon, but it was too late as Lucario unleased his attack, rapidly punching and kicking the ground pokemon. Geodude was totally paralyzed as he couldn't do anything to defend himself, just letting Lucario attack him as if he was the aura pokemon's punching bag.

"Close Combat?", Ryan said in amusement as he was watching the battle, "When did he practice that move?"

A loud clashing sound could be heard as Lucario launched one last mighty punch at Geodude, sending him flying to a boulder right behind and fell to the ground with a thud. But Jake wasn't done with him.

"Lucario, finish him off with Aura Sphere!", Jake shouted and Lucario quickly ran to Geodude which his paws joined together, forming a blue energy sphere between them, who was having troubles regaining his senses.

"Geodude, watch out!", Roark warned the fuzzy pokemon, but it was all in vain. As he gained the perfect distance, Lucario fired the energy sphere right at Geodude. The sphere hit its target and knocked Geodude out. The ground pokemon laid motionless on the ground with swirly eyes.

'Geodude is unable to battle. The winners of this battle are the challengers: Jake and Lucario!", the ref announced as he stretched his arm towards Jake.

"One down, two more to go!", Jake thought and looked at Lucario, who gave him a nod as the aura pokemon was smiling confidently after their first and easy victory.

...

"You did your best. Now rest, my friend", Roark said as he returned Geodude to the pokeball. The gym leader then quickly turned his attention back to Jake and Lucario, "That was impressive. You have a very powerful Lucario, but there's noway he can take out my next pokemon!"

"We'll see. You can talk big all you want, but in the end you'll lose.", Jake replied mockingly with a smirk, and this time it really pissed the gym leader off as the polite smile immediately disappeared from his face.

"Why you little...", Roark muttered and grinded his teeth, "Come, Onix!!!", the gym leader shouted in frustration as he threw another pokeball to the battlefield, releasing his next pokemon, a giant snake with his whole body made from rock - an Onix.

"The gym leader had sent out his second pokemon. The challenger may also switch his current pokemon with a new one. Do you wish to change your pokemon?", the ref asked while looking at Jake.

"No thanks. I'll continue the battle with my mat-...I mean friend, Lucario.", Jake replied and shook his head. He then glanced at Lucario, who was blushing a little as Jake had almost called him 'mate' in front of other people.

"You're not going to switch your pokemon. Are you underestimating me?", Roark questioned the trainer as he was getting even angrier.

"No, I don't change my pokemon cuz I know Lucario will kick that Onix's butt and send him back to wherever mine he comes from.", Jake taunted and smiled confidently.

"That's it!", Roark shouted angrily, "Onix, attack with Stone Edge!"

Onix's body glowed white and two blue energy rings came out from it. Sharp-pointed rocks then started forming from the energy rings as they floated in the air, pointing at Lucario.

"Whoa, what the heck is that thing!!??", Jake shouted but he soon realized that Lucario was in danger, "Get out of there, Lucario!!!"

Right after that, Onix's eyes glowed yellow and the rocks shot directly at Lucario. The aura pokemon was caught off guard by this attack, but he swiftly ran towards Onix as he avoided the shooting rocks while closing the distance between him and the rock snake pokemon at the same time.

"Good job Lucario!", Jake exclaimed as he saw his mate successfully avoided Onix's stone edge, "Now, use Bone Rush!"

Lucario nodded and put his paws together. He then spreaded them apart, forming a long, light green bone between them. Spining the bone in his paws, Lucario jumped in the air and brought the energy bone behind his head as he was about to strike Onix with it.

"Oh no you don't!", Roark muttered, "Onix, use Screech!"

The rock snake pokemon quickly responded to Roark's command as he opened his mouth wide and the inside of it glowed white. Soon, Onix released a light blue cylinder beam from his mouth at Lucario, accompanied by an extremely high-pitched sound.

"Ugh...what in Arceus is this sound. My head...it gonna explode!!!", Lucario whined and stopped in the middle of the air as his ears were penetrated by Onix's horrible sound. The aura pokemon had no choice but to stop his attack and cover his ears both both of his paws, but it didn't stop there. The impact also sent Lucario flying backwards as the aura pokemon couldn't hold himself, since he had to use both of his paws to cover his ears. With a nasty crash, Lucario's back hit a rather big boulder.

"Now is your chance! Go, attack with Slam!", Roark shouted and Onix obliged as he snaked his way towards the motionless aura pokemon and slammed his tail right at Lucario, hard. The impact was so powerful that it smashed the boulder behind Lucario into pieces and sent the aura pokemon to another boulder not very far behind. As he hit the boulder, Lucario felt face-first to the ground.

"Lucario!!! Are you okay??!!", Jake cried out as he saw his mate laying motionless on the ground, but the aura pokemon didn't respond.

Jake felt some tears leaking out from the corner of his eyes. Sure, the trainer and his pup had encoutered several trainers on their journey and it usually ended up Riolu/Lucario getting hurt, but this was the first time Jake saw his mate being hit by a physical attack this powerful. Jake wanted the battle to end immediately to he could go out there and check on his pup, but his will was actually strong enough to remind him that he mustn't: Lucario wouldn't be happy if he knew that his mate had to give up the battle because of him. Beside, Jake had also said that he trusted Lucario, so the trainer could only have faith in his mate.

"Lucario..."

...

"Oh man, even from here it hurts. I wonder if Lucario will be okay?", Ryan said concernedly as he was watching the battle, but Charmeleon softly put a hand on Ryan's shoulder to calm him down, "Don't worry. I think...no, I know that he'll be okay. After all, that pup is the only one that had ever beaten me."

"You're right."

Meanwhile, the gym's main area was engulfed by an annoying silence. Everyone seemed to set their eyes on the aura pokemon.

"Lucario is unable to battle. The winners of this battle ar-...", the ref announced, but Ryan cut him off, "Wait! Look at that!", he shouted while pointing at Lucario.

Much to everyone's surprise, they saw the aura pokemon slowly got up. He was panting heavily, his whole body was covered in bruished and some of the wounds were even bleeding, but there was only determination on his face.

"Talk about one stubborn mutt...", Roark muttered.

"Lucario, are you okay? Can you continue?", Jake asked concernedly, and he heard the aura pokemon's voice echoed in his head. "I...I'm fine, but we have to come up with a plan, cuz I will be done for if I get hit again."

"Telepathy?", Jake thought, and Lucario replied, "Yes...From this moment until the battle with Onix is over, I'll use telepathy to talk to you. It'll prevent Roark from countering any of our moves, since he won't know what they are."

The trainer nodded in agreement, "Then, what should we do know?"

"We have to stop Onix from using that troublesome Screech again, otherwise I can't get close to him. Any idea?"

"Uhm, let's me see...", Jake thought, "Got it. Listen carefully..."

"Hey! Are you two going to stand there for all day or what?", Roark shouted with his arms folded in front of his chest as he was getting impatient.

"Okay. Let's do it, Lucario!", the trainer declared.

...

"Lucario, charge towards Onix and use multiple Aura Sphere to distract him.", Jake mentally told his mate.

"Roger.", Lucario replied as he ran towards the rock snake pokemon while having blue energy spheres forming from both of his paws.

"That trick won't work on me.", Roark shouted, "Onix, use screech again!". Onix complied as he opened his mouth and the inside of it glowed white again.

"Now!", the trainer said and Lucario immediately understood what he meant as the aura pokemon released his energy balls. But to Roark's surprise, the target this time wasn't Onix, instead, Lucario's aura spheres were aimed at the surface around the rock snake pokemon.

"What is that mutt trying to do?", Roark asked himself as he looked at Jake, confused, but the trainer only replied with a smirk. When the gym leader turned his attention back to the battlefield, he realized in shock that it was covered in a huge cloud of dust.

"Are you trying to disable Onix's vision?", Roark questioned, "But what about your Lucario?". It was then the gym leader heard a roar of agony coming from the battle, and it didn't take Roark long to know who that roar belonged to.

"Onix...he is attacked. But how?"

(Inside the cloud of dust)

"Damn it! Where is that Lucario?", Onix growled angrily as he kept turning his head from left to right, searching for any sign of Lucario, but with no avail as the thick cloud dust had completely dismissed his vision.

"Lucario, attack with Metal Claw.", Jake commended.

"With pleasure!", the aura pokemon smiled devilishly as the charged towards the confused Onix. The spikes on the top of his paws glowed white and transformed into three shining claws each. The aura pokemon then jumped to the air as he aimed at Onix's head.

*Slash*

"Gahhhhhhhhh! My face!", Onix roared in pain as Lucario's claws left six noticable marks on his face as he looked more inmiditading then ever, almost like a crazy beast, "You've really done it now! Curse you, mutt!!!"

"Lucario, that Onix is out of control. Quickly finish him off with Aura Sphere."

"You got it!", Lucario replied as he channeled all of his power into his paws and created a massive blue energy sphere, bigger than any one that the aura pokemon had created before. Lucario then unleashed the energy ball at Onix, who was still cursing and roaring in pain and fury.

The dust seemed to be splited apart as Lucario's aura sphere shot at Onix with an incredible speed. And before the rock snake pokemon even knew it, the energy sphere collided with his head and it was actually strong enough to blow him away. As the cloud dust subsided, everyone could see Onix was laying on the ground.

"No way. Come on Onix, get up!!!", Roark shouted desperately and clenced his hands into fists, but the gym leader soon realized it was all in vain. Onix was knocked out cold.

The ref looked at the rock snake pokemon for awhile, and came to his decision, "Onix is unable to battle. The winners of this battle are the challenger Jake and Lucario!"

"They did it!!!", Ryan said excitedly, "Way to go, Jake, Lucario!".

...

"I can't believe it!", Roark muttered as he knelt down next to the unconcious Onix, "He actually managed to beat two of my pokemon with a Lucario. This boy is really strong.". The gym leader quietly returned his Onix to the pokeball and quickly pulled out a new one, which contained his last, and most powerful pokemon. Turning around to face Jake, the gym leader declared, "You are a very strong trainer, Jake, but do you think you can take out my last pokemon like you did earlier? Come, Rampardos!". Roark then threw the pokeball to the battlefield, revealing the final weapon of his arsenal: A very large, dark-grey, dinasour-like pokemon with some blue trimes and a dome-shaped head.

Rampardos, the Head Butt Pokémon and the evolved form of Cranidos. Like a spear, its headbutt can pierce even the strongest of defenses.

"The gym leader had sent out his final pokemon. Do you wish to change?", the ref asked while looking at Jake, but it was obivious to him and any other person in the gym's main area that Jake had to switch his pokemon. Lucario's conditions didn't allow the aura pokemon to continue his battle anymore.

"Yes, I'll switch. Lucario, come here, pup!", Jake called and reached his belt for a pokeball. The aura pokemon weakly made his way to the trainer, and he nearly collasped if it hadn't been for his mate's catching him before he could fell face-first to the ground.

"I did it, Jake.", Lucario whispered and gave his mate an affectionate lick on his cheek. Jake gladly returned the gesture by squeezing the pup in his arms gently, "You was amazing. Now rest. Let me finish this...Ryan, can you take care of Lucario for me?", Jake called. Ryan nodded and quickly ran to his friend, followed by Charmeleon. The trainer then handed Ryan his backpack, "There are healing spray and bandage in the backpack. Please treat his wounds."

"Okay."

...

"You're ready grand finale, Roark!?", Jake shouted as he threw the pokeball to the battlefield. The ball opened and a yellow thunderbolt hit the battlefield, from which revealing the lightning pokemon, "I'm counting on you, Luxray!!!". Luxray nodded and gave Rampardos an intimidating roar, but the head butt pokemon didn't flinch at all.

"First a Lucario and now a Luxray. Hmm, this trainer has quite a strong set of pokemon.", Roark mentally told himself, "But no big deal. Rampardos, Zen Headbutt!", the gym leader shouted. The skull part on Rampardos' head and his eyes glowed white. Soon, his head was covered by a blue reflective shield and Rampardos charged at Luxray.

"Time to test the moves we practiced yesterday.", Jake thought, "Luxray, quickly dodge it.", the trainer shouted.

Luxray gave a stern nod as he jumped to the air, avoiding the charging Rampardos, who wasn't able to stop himself due to his current speed. With a loud crushing sound, Rampardos rammed his head to a boulder, smashing it into pieces.

"That's one powerful headbutt.", Ryan muttered, "I wonder what Jake will to to counter it?"

"Now, Iron Tail!", Jake said and Luxray complied as his tail glowed white and with a sharp spin, the electric pokemon slammed his tail directly on Rampardos' back, causing the head butt pokemon to groan in agony and fell to the ground.

"Just as I thought.", Jake smirked, "Iron Tail is a steel-type attack. It's super effective against rock pokemon...Luxray, before Rampardos get up, attack him with spark!", Jake commend, having the electric pokemon's body cover in a blue electric aura as Luxray ran towards a laying Rampardos.

"No. Rampardos, get up!", Roark yelled as he couldn't believe his strongest pokemon was overpowered so easily. The head butt pokemon struggled to comply his master's order, due to the fact that his back was still hurt from Luxray's iron tail, and his arms were too small to help supporting his heavy body. But before Rampardos could fully stand on his feet, the head butt pokemon saw a whitish-blue blur moving towards him. A clashing sound echoed through the gym's main area, and Rampardos was blown away, flying backwards until his back hit another boulder (wow, this battlefield has so many boulders ^-^)

"Ahhhhhhhhhh, my back!", Rampardos groaned in pain.

"So far so good!", Jake grinned as he saw his mighty lion devastating the gym leader's Rampardos, "Luxray, use spark again!". The gleam eyes pokemon nodded as he responded to his trainer's commend and charged at Rampardos with his body engulfed in blue electric aura again.

"You fall right into my trap.", Roark said while having a sinister grin on his face, "Rampardos, use Zen Headbutt!"

"What the...Luxray, stop!", Jake shouted desperately as he realized in dread that the gleam eyes pokemon's last attack had damaged Rampardos...and helped the head butt pokemon to fully get on his feet at the same time. Now he was in the perfect position to execute his signature move Zen Headbutt. Luxray was charging at him, and with his current speed, it was impossible for the gleam eyes pokemon to stop himself right now.

Everything seemed to be in slow motion as Rampardos' skull glowed blue and was covered in the blue reflective shield. With that, the head butt pokemon charged at Luxray. An ear-spliting sound penetrated everyone's ears as both pokemon collided, and soon followed by a yell of pain, which Jake realized in dread who it belonged to.

"Luxray!!!", the trainer screamed his lung out as he saw the gleam eyes pokemon being blown to the air and soon felt to the ground with a loud thud, laying motionlessly on his belly.

"That looks really painful. Poor Luxray...", Ryan whimpered and Charmeleon nodded as he let out a wince of sympathy for the gleam eyes pokemon. Lucario looked at his lover, then at Luxray nervously, "Come on buddy, don't give up..."

"That's what you get,", Rampardos let out a menacing chuckle and turned his head away as he thought there was noway Luxray could stand up after his attack. Roark only looked at the gleam eyes and grinned as he was satisfied with the sight in front of his eyes.

It was then a beam of electricity shoot out from the star on the tip of Luxray's tail. The beam hit Rampardos and his body was then engulfed by countless yellow sparks. Everything happened so fast that Rampardos couldn't react at all, "Wh...what is this? My body...it won't move!!!"

"The most important rule in battle: Never let your guard down before you completely obliterate the enemies.", Luxray snarled while slowly getting on his feet.

"Wow...what's that move Luxray just used?", Jake thought in awe, watching the head butt pokemon struggling to move but all in vain as he was completely paralyzed.

"That's Discharge! Amazing!", Ryan exclaimed, "How did he manage to pull off that powerful maneuver? Discharge strikes and paralyzes every single pokemon within its range."

"Okay...I don't know what happened, but Rampardos can't move his body anymore. Here's our chance. Go Luxray, attack with Thunderbolt! Give him all you got!!!", Jake shouted, pointing at the paralyzed Rampardos. He could barely control his excitement.

"Leave it to me!", the gleam eyes pokemon replied before running towards Rampardos. Gaining enough speed, Luxray jumped to the air, his whole body was engulfed in a yellow electric aura. It was shining so brightly that Jake thought as if Luxray's fur was made from gold.

"Rampardos! Get out of there!", Roark shouted in despair, but with no avail as the pokemon was still affected by Discharge. As he finished charging his energy, Luxray unleashed a mighty lightning bolt right at Rampardos. The attack hit him, and resulted in a massive explosion as rocks and dirt were flying all around, creating a giant cloud of dust, covering both pokemon.

Soon, the dust subsided, revealing both pokemon as they were staring at each other intently. Luxray was panting heavily due to the excessive amount of energy he had put into the Thunderbolt attack, and he was in no conditions to fight anymore, even though he still had enough energy to stand. Rampardos, on the other hand, just stared at Luxray, not moving a single muscle.

They stayed like that for awhile, before...

The head butt pokemon slowly closed his eyes as he felt to the ground, laying on his belly with swirly eyes.

"Rampardos is unable to battle. The winner of this battle and the victors of today's gym battle are the challenger Jake and his pokemon, Lucario and Luxray!", the ref declared as he pointed his arm at the trainer's side.

"Oh yeahhhh!!! We did it!!!!!!!", Jake cheered as he was jumping up and down in excitement. But the trainer suddenly felt something (or rather...someone) warm, soft and furry tackle him, making Jake almost fell to the ground.

"I did it. We won!", Luxray said as he nuzzled his head to the trainer's chest.

"I knew you can do it! I'm so pround of you, Jake!", Lucario said as he hugged his mate tightly.

"Lucario, Luxray...can't...breat-...ack!", Jake managed to stammer while rubbing Lucario's back and Luxray's mane. Both pokemon immediately realized that they were hugging Jake too tight and loosened their grip on him.

"Oops, sorry."

...

"Well done, Rampardos. Rest, my friend.", Roark mumbled as he returned Rampardos to the pokeball. The gym leader then put the pokeball to his belt and walked over to Jake, who was now talking and smiling with his pokemon and Ryan as they congratulated him on his first gym victory.

"This is kinda embarrassing... I went and lost to a Trainer who didn't have a single Gym Badge... But that's tough. You were strong and I was weak.", Roark said while pulling out some kind of badge from his pocket, "Here, according to the league's rules, I present you, the victor, with this...The Coal Badge."

"Thank you.", Jake said as he gratefully received the badge from the gym leader. The trainer then held up the Coad Badge - the proof of his victory, "Here it is, guys. The first of our many victories!"

"That was an impressive battle, Jake. But there is two thing I just can't understand.", Roark questioned, "When Lucario created that cloud of dust and when they were inside it, I didn't see you giving Lucario any order, so how can he attack? And how did he know Onix's location?"

"It's simple.", the trainer grinned, "Lucario is the aura pokemon, so he can sense the opponents' auras, thus allowing him to locate his opponents as well as predict their moves. As for the first thing you ask...Well, Lucario can also use _Telepath_y, which we have been practicing to master, and it allow us to communicate, without letting the opponents know what we're saying."

"That sounds amazing...hmm, so that how Onix was defeated.", Roark said in amusement while tapping his chin.

...

"Jake...", Luxray whispred as Jake and his gang made their way out of the Oreburgh Gym, "I'm so tired...will you carry me?"

"He wasted all of his energy into that Thunderbolt attack.", Lucario said, "...carry him."

"Whoa...are you okay with it? I don't want my mate to be jealous.", Jake teased as he rubbed Lucario's head.

"No, I won't be jealous. He isn't that Typhlosion, beside, he did a lot for us today."

"Okay, if you say so.", Jake replied as he got on his knees and picked up the exhausted Luxray. The gleam eyes pokemon felt asleep immediately as he was held in the trainer's warm embrace.

(Thirty minutes later)

Jake gently placed the sleeping Luxray on the bed and stroke his mane, a smile forming on his lips, "Sleep well, my friend.". The trainer then stood up and made his way to the sofa. Sitting down to face Ryan, Jake asked, "I did as you said and won the Coal Badge. Now please explain...why did you blush this morning? What happened to you?"

"I...uhm...", Ryan hesitated and glanced at Charmeleon, who gave him a slight nod, "I'll say, but first, you have to answer this question...honestly."

"Go ahead."

"Are you and Lucario...lovers?"

Jake was totally caught off guard by this question. The trainer was going to said 'no', but he heard Lucario's voice inside his head, "If Ryan is aware of we being lovers, then don't hide it anymore. A lie is a lie, but the truth will always better. Beside, I believe in Ryan. He is our friend, and nothings will change between us.". Jake nodded, "You're right."

"Alright. We...I mean Lucario and I are lovers.", Jake said and clenched his teeth, waiting for the worst to come. But to his relief, Ryan only sighed, "It's good to hear that from you, Jake."

"What do you mean?"

"Charmeleon and I...we're also lovers.", Ryan said awkwardly as it was his turn to get nervous. But Jake grinned and tapped his shoulder, "I'm happy for you. So...how did it happen?"

"Well...It started last night..."
