#1 of Problems in Paradise

Why was he outside in the rain was the question Kendric Anderson thought as he drudged in the murky blackness and drizzle of the midnight rain. Not only was it raining but it was cold, not surprising for the middle of winter. Covered in his raincoat and three layers of clothing the young man walked down the streets of the inner city almost a half mile from his apartment complex and Kendric swore that if he had some mental disorder he'd shoot himself when he got back.

This whole thing had started when the twenty eight year old college grad had been tossing and turning for almost an hour and thirty minutes, unsuccessfully trying to get some sleep. Adjusting the thermostat twice, taking off and on his clothes to get comfortable and even putting on a CD of his favorite music didn't help the young man. He shook his mop of green hair and roared in frustration, as his mind wouldn't allow him the comforts of sleep.

The last straw had come when the power went out and groans and gripes started in the hallway. In twenty three degree weather it was way to cold to be without power and the apartment attendants had stormed the manager's house with calls to come and fix the problem. The older man had gotten a call from Ken out of more spite than anything since he was miserable, and what was the old saying:

Misery loved company.

Being defeated and aggravated the human decided to get dressed and go outside for a walk since it was probably warmer outside than in at the moment. Of course as soon as he had gotten ready a crash of thunder and boom of lightning sounded making the young man turn around at the apartment exit to go back upstairs. That was when he felt it and cursed the gods in the heavens.

Kendric was a physic and somewhat a soothsayer and sadly his 'gift' was responding to an outside source. The green haired male knew better than to ignore the hum that often resounded in his mind when his abilities went on the fritz and so Ken found himself in the pouring rain after getting his raincoat.

The security guard had looked at him strange when the man had flashed his light in Ken's face but there wasn't anything he could say as Kendric walked out of the building getting drenched before he stepped three feet into the night.

Ken grumbled as his body began to get heavy from the weight of the cold raindrops and his feet began to slosh in his boots from the moisture. However, the ringing inside of Ken didn't stop but instead rang louder the more he walked. Bowing his head the young man cut through the park when he felt a tug pulling him towards the grassy area of trees and shrubs and hoped that maybe someone was dead and he could just run home to call the police and not...

"No such luck..." Ken sighed as he noticed a small group of dogs on the ground

One thing about Kendric's ability was that it became more pronounced whenever he was around something not 'normal'. Whether it was ghosts, ghouls, zombies, or in this case weredogs, Ken's 'gift' made him aware that something was wrong with the creature or deity in his vicinity.

Looking at the rain soaked creatures Ken tried to analyze them from his viewpoint but couldn't make out any distinctive wounds or ailments. Getting closer the green haired human bent down to the nearest one and put his slim hand on its fur and waited...

Premonitions and visions were apart of Ken's 'gift' and like clockwork his head filled with clips of the lives of whoever or whatever he touched.

A clear day and a hunt with the pack...

Playing with a younger pup...

Mating with its beloved...

Resting in their den surrounded by family...

A loud shrill and flaring shot...

Running from something...

A white pain piercing the chest...

Seeing a large dog nuzzling others close by before coming over...

Another shot...

Silence...

Kendric pulled away with a snap as the visions ended and his mind freed itself from the reel of this weredog's life story.

"Why does this shit have to happen to me?" Ken looked into the dark night as the rain continued to pour down and a single drop hit him square in the eye

Ken swore again as he rubbed his ivory white eye and blinked to get his vision back in order. Satisfied that some god or spirit had, had its fun Ken walked around and checked each of the weredogs before standing in the middle of their odd circle of bodies.

Oh god of life...bestower of mercy and forgiveness...I call on you...

Let your power flow through my soul to mine hands...

Allow your soul and mine to forge into one and give that which was stolen back...

Bring forth ever giving life to these who are between the dimensions unto this world...

Let my small life merge with yours to renew that which should be and that which shouldn't to be no more...

GRAND RESTORE!!!

Rays of white shot from Kendric's body as he finished his spell and soon the entire park area was engulfed in white light. The light shimmered for moments before it turned blue and then faded from view. Unable to hold himself up from using such a powerful incantation the green haired human slumped onto the cold and wet ground upon his knees and then huffed aloud.

In a few minutes movements sounded from the prone bodies and then the weredogs began to get up upon their legs and shake the rain from their pelts. It took a couple more minutes as the once dead canines reorganized themselves and look, sniff, bark, growl, and whine to each other in greetings.

It was at this time that Kendric slowly rose from his position and slink away before...

"STOP!!!" a loud voice echoed behind the young man making him jump a foot into the air

Ken silently cursed and stamped his foot on the ground like a child before straightening up and turning around. With a wide and false, smile on his face the human laughed jovially and greeted the weredogs.

"Hi everybody! I'm soooo happy you're alright! Well since there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with you other than wet I'll be going! So bye!" Kendric dashed off as soon as the '-ye" left his throat and was several meters by the time the weredogs blinked

One of them broke from the pack over the head of the others and chased after the young human. Ken knew that one of the weres was following him but with the rain still falling, though lightly now, the young man prayed that the creature would slip up and give him the opportunity to get back to the safety of his apartment.

His wish was granted when the large weredog slipped on his paws but instead of it being a lucky break for Ken the beast slid on the soft grass and into the boy. They both tumbled over each other until their bodies came to a stop with Ken on the bottom and the heavy form of the canine on top of him. Groaning and shaking his head, Ken gasped when a set of pearly white fangs inched close to his nose and snapped at the pert part of his anatomy.

"Oh please don't bite me. I really don't need to grow fur in this lifetime." the green haired human began to shiver, as he knew that if he was nipped or worse bitten, then his life at this moment would be ruined

Thankfully the creature halted its advancement on his person and just stayed centimeters from Ken's face. Looking up to see a pair of navy blue eyes with black pupils staring at him Ken smiled while continuing his useless squirms to get away. The weredog howled into the night and soon the small pack of weres had encircled the both of them.

"Oh shit..." Ken looked up at the sky for a second time that night and said a really mean curse to one deity he knew inparticularly and wished said deity a thousand painful deaths and somewhere a god sneezed

"Okay. I can handle this! Do you guys speak English?" having met weres of all types in his short life Ken knew that some couldn't speak but only growl and gesture like canines

"I speak human." the were on top of Ken said with a rather nasty growl laden in his voice

"Okay...this is good. This is real good. First can you please get off of me? You're not exactly light and my ribs are creaking. I can hear them you know." the weredog growled as he brought his fangs down close to the boy's neck

"Listen to the human." another weredog said and the one on top of Ken moved away but took a nasty step onto Ken's gut

Kendric grunted at the move and bit back his next comment in favor of rubbing himself and getting up off the ground. Once up the green haired physic shook some of the rain from his body and wiped his face as best he could, given the situation.

"Now, secondly, if you don't mind I'm going home now and you guys can just have a nice life okay." Ken began walking off in hopes that the weredogs would just let him go without incident

As soon as he got to a pair nearest the park exit they growled and snapped at him making the human stop and grin down at them nervously.

"Okay, I can't leave yet. Well I'm sure you guys have things to do so why don't we just go out separate ways and let bygones be bygones?" the weredogs began growling and snarling loudly at Ken making him want to cry as he bowed his head

"Well what the Hell do you want from me!!!???" sheer irritation made Ken snap and then common sense helped him cover his mouth in hopes that he wouldn't become Physic Chow for the creatures around him

"You humans tried to kill us! Why should we let you live to try again?" the one who had held Kendric spoke with a vile sneer

"Hey! I didn't do squat to you guys and even brought you back from limbo and this is the thanks I get! See if I ever do another thing for anybody in this life!" Ken muttered as he crossed his arms and waited for something to pop off, hopefully not his head in one of their jaws

"He is right. This one did not do anything to us. We owe him and yet we bare fangs in repayment of his kindness. Have we fallen so low as to become that which we hate?" the weredog that had gotten the weredog off of Ken admonished the others

Some had the good decency to look abashed but others were still angry at what had happened.

"If he returns he could bring others back with him! Should we let him go so easily?" one of the weredogs spoke out while keeping his eyes on the human mage

"He saved us only to kill us later. Even by human standards that does not make much sense. I think that this is the one who will become the next alpha of our pack. He did appear as the older ones had said he would." the only rational weredog spoke with good humor

"Impossible! You would suggest that this creature will lead us to a new home! We don't even know what he is other than human and you would put our lives in his hands?!" the weredog that had caught up with Ken first spoke to the other with his ears low and his eyes widening

"What is the saying: the life that you save becomes the one you care for? Did he not save us from death with nothing to gain? Did he not bestow life unto that which he had no reason? I ask you this; what have we to fear from someone who had done nothing but good for those he had nothing to do with?" the others murmured and began to go over the logic of the other weredog and slowly the tension drained from the pack of weres

"But...!!!" the were who had first spoke tried to argue but a nuzzle from the more levelheaded weredog silenced him

"Beloved, I know that you are afraid and that you have no love for humans but we should be dead as of now. This human means nothing but good will towards us. You can feel it in your heart. I know that your senses tell you the same. Trust in that if nothing else. Trust in me if you wish to believe my words to be true." the weredog nuzzled and playfully bit the other on the throat in a show of need

The two weredogs playfully sniffed and nuzzled each other as the rain ceased to fall and soon the stubborn were relented and bowed his head in defeat.

"AHEM!!"

Ken had tried to sneak away while the conversation was going strong and then stopped when the obvious cough rang behind him. Looking back the green haired human smiled as he noted the sour look coming from the weredog that had spoken on his behalf. Reaching up and rubbing his head Ken chuckled nervously as he returned to the center of the circle.

"Well then, ahem, shouldn't you guys be going and stuff? I know you probably have a busy day and all with finding a new place to live, so I'll just be getting out of your way and..."

"We go where you go. What I said was true young human; our lives are now in your hands. You wouldn't want to make me into a liar, would you?" there was something in the last couple of words that made Kendric think real hard about his next choice of words, even more so when the weredog next to the one who had spoken growled and opened his mouth showing a nice set of fangs

'Damn it, this guy is good.' Ken couldn't help but think as he noticed the smile coming from the two weredogs towards himself

"Alright then. I guess you can stay at my place until I sort this out." Looking up to the cloudy night sky Kendric sighed and began his long trudge back to his apartment and wished with everything that the light were still out

Back at the complex Ken almost danced a jig when he noticed the darkness coming from inside of the building. Nodding to the weredogs Ken opened the door and watched as his new pack, something he was not liking in the least, scampered inside after shaking out a much water from their fur as possible.

"Hey! What the hell's going on?" Ken yelped when he remembered the security guard

I call to you master of great sleep...let this fool who stands before me fall into your graceful arms to know nothing evermore...

SLEEP!!!

The guard slumped to the ground with a heavy thump as he traveled to the land of Nod against his own accord. Ken sighed and exhaled a breath he wasn't aware he had held before letting everyone inside. Once in the green haired boy got the others up the stairs and then clapped his hands. The doorman woke up just in time to catch the stairwell door closing.

"Why didn't you let me tear his throat out? It would have been simpler." the weredog that Ken had had the most problems with asked with disdain in his voice

"Because the guy has a nice wife and cute kid back home worrying everyday about him. No way would I have let you kill the guy and then leave his family without someone paying the bills." Ken heard the were let out a humph before everyone continued to his home on the fifth floor

Once at his apartment Ken unlocked the door and ushered everyone inside while making sure the rest of the tenants were still asleep or in their own homes. After every one of his packmates had gone inside Ken tried not to trip on anybody as he searched around for a candle.

"Oh why am I kidding myself. ILLUMINATION!!" a bright ball of light ballooned into Kendric's hand and then split into seven smaller balls to float in his living room

"Okay ground rules; you shake and I kill you. I just had this place cleaned this week so please do yourself a favor and turn into humans and grab a towel or something. You guys do know what a towel is right?" a few nasty snorts flew Ken's way but the human chose to ignore them

"Whatever. Since I don't know you by name please turn into your human forms so that I can. I don't have your sense of smell so I won't be able to tell you apart on sight and it'll make my life a bit easier if I can know you by name." Kendric watched as one by one the weredogs transformed into their human forms and then blinked before grabbing his nose

All of the weredogs were hunky as hell males. Each one was different than the next but every single one was buff without being overly muscular and well hung. No one present was less than eight inches and two of them were sported twelve inch cocks. But other than their, physical assets, they looked like regular guys you would see passing on the street save the long tails and floppy ears on their heads.

In total there were eight weredogs in the pack that ken know led and all of them were making their new alpha drool. Sadly, Ken was both ecstatic and mournful that he just happened to be the shyest thing on the plane and in the presence of all his wet dreams come true. His nose bled onto the green haired physic's raincoat and he flew past everyone to reach his bathroom following him was one of the balls of light as it flew after its master and through the door that Ken had slammed behind him.

"What's wrong with the new alpha?" one of the men asked as everyone looked to the old alpha for an explanation

"..." the former alpha said nothing but covered his arms as the cold and his aggravation began to well in his soul

"He's just nervous around us. Some of you may not understand but humans can be prudes about nakedness. Not to mention that he lusts after us." the former alpha's mate and most reasonable of the weredogs spoke sagely

Whimpers came from the bathroom and the former alpha and his mate walked over to listen to their newest alpha mutter comments to himself.

"There's no way in the nine hells and seven heavens I can go back out there. My god if this is some kind of dream wake up now Ken! Damn they're hung! Oh shit another nose bleed!" the two weredogs outside of the door looked at each other before the former alpha turned his head and threw open the door

Ken snapped his head to see who had entered and then blushed when his eyes strayed downward.

"What the hell are you doing in here?! Get OUT!!" Ken tried to yell but the hand covering his mouth and nose compounded with the piece of tissue in his nostrils didn't help him startle the weredogs

"Excuse us ALPHA but we are not used to being in human form and it's cold so would you PLEASE turn on the heat or have us turn back into out real forms." the former alpha punctuated everyone word with as much ire as he could towards Ken. His mate punched him in the head for it though before smiling at the new alpha

"Hold on a sec.." Kendric grabbed a large assortment of towels and then dashed out of the bathroom to where the others still waited for him in human form while sniffing around their new den

The green haired boy gave everyone a towel before going to each one of his glowing balls of light and silently chanting another spell. The balls turned from their original white color to deep red-orange and the entire apartment began to heat up. Thankful murmurs came from the weredogs and Ken smiled sheepishly as he looked to everyone and kept his eyes above the stomach of his new pack.

"Alright then, lets get this over with so that I can go to sleep and you guys can do whatever. Who are you?" Ken turned to the former alpha and his mate with his head cocked to the side in question

"My name is Isaiah and this grumpy male next to me is my mate Ezekiel. We were the former alpha and beta of the pack but now you're the new alpha and your mate is the beta." Ezekiel said cheerily while trying to keep Isaiah from growling at the human

Ken noticed that Isaiah hadn't said anything but wasn't exactly pleased either as he ran the towel over his muscular body. Both were strapping to say the least and Kendric felt his cock start to harden in his pants as he surveyed both of the weredogs.

Isaiah was the fairer of the two like a shonen-ai character from the anime Ken like to read. He would be the uke in yaoi as his body was slimmer than his mates, his hair was red, eyes a deep amberish-green color, he looked to be about one hundred and eighty pounds but there was power coursing within him and the way he held his body spoke of hidden strength eager to express itself.

Ezekiel was the typical seme with his heavy set build, azure eyes, black hair and weighing close to two hundred and thirty pounds. The look in those blue eyes was far from kind but there was a submission within them that made Ken feel, a little more at ease. The green haired human was putting his life on the fact that pack rules would keep Isaiah from ripping his neck out during the night.

"My names Kenneth." Another weredog said making Ken turn to see a six foot man with red eyes, black hair and weighing one ninety pounds sitting on the floor

"I'm Eric." cheerfully said man said while sitting next to Ken.

"Daniel." a tall weredog announced while sniffing in Ken's direction

"Robin." quietly spoke a were who was sitting behind Daniel

"We're Zeek and Zan." Two twins chorused together while drying each other off

"Well this I'll be easier than I thought! My names Kendric Orion Anderson. Though I can guess that this situation is awkward bare with me until I can figure out what to do."

The pack of weredogs nodded to their alpha before stomachs started to growl and everyone looked at each other.

"oh no...please don't tell me..." Ken began to cry as he new what was coming

"That's right alpha. It's your job to feed your pack. So what are we having?" Ezekiel taunted as he looked at Ken

Ken snarled at the former alpha and both looked at each other in a contest of will before Isaiah bopped his mate over the head and growled at him.

"Be polite. Truthfully alpha it is your duty to see that the pack eats so...what will we be having?" the former beta asked while showing his submission with his words

"Can you guys eat cooked food or does it have to have a pulse?" Ken remembered that his refrigerator had nothing in it as he had to go shopping today when he got up

Ezekiel began to make a rather nasty comment when his mate grabbed him in his groin and applied pressure. The former alpha winced and kept his words to himself.

"We can eat human food but prefer it to, as you say, have a pulse." Isaiah let his mate go with an innocent smile on his face and his tail wagging behind him

"Does steak sound good enough?" Ken watched as his pack all nodded and sighed before going to his room and getting his wallet

When he had found the leather skinned item the green haired mage returned to the living room and looked at everyone.

"Alright. You can do whatever until I get back except go outside. If anyone come to the house just ignore them and they'll go away but do not under any circumstance answer that door!" Ken tried to convey his warning with as much force as possible to show his seriousness

What would anyone think if they caught him with a room full of naked guys with dog ears and tail?

'Knowing some of my neighbors, they'll think I'm some kind of freak or that I'll a nymphomaniac.' Ken thought about that one old gossiper that lived down the hall who knew everything about everyone and just LOVED to make her opinions known.

'Old bat. Wished she'd get a life." Ken muttered before chanting a spell and then opening his door and stepping through

Once the human was gone the other weres muddled around the living room sniffing and smelling everything and anything.

"Beloved, I know that you don't like this but please remember that this is our destiny and Ken's as well." Isaiah looked at his mate and then wrapped him in his arms along with his tail to convey his love to Ezekiel.

"I know that but he doesn't even look like an alpha. How is he going to lead us to a new home? Can't even stare at us without breaking into a nosebleed. He's just a kid." Ezekiel hugged his mate and growled as he voiced his concerns to the only other person who could understand him

"I know but we will have to teach him. We lost a lot today. Both the cubs and the females. With the exception of the twins we may not be able to survive for long without Kendric. I don't think it was coincidence that the hunters found us, even more that Kendric came when he did. All of this was destined. You and I both know that. So please don't fight it." Isaiah nuzzled his mate and then kissed him while grinding his flesh into his mates

Ezekiel groaned and humped into his love before stopping and breaking their kiss.

"I know that but it's not fair for this to happen just when we found a new home. We worked so hard and now..." Isaiah held back the tears that wanted to cascade down his face, as he needed to be strong for the others

Isaiah cooed to his alpha and began to drag them both down onto the carpeted floor of the room. Laying his larger mate down the slimmer of the pair began to rock his hips into his mate's. A heavy scent wafted into the air as Ezekiel sought to bring his lover release both in mind and body from the tension and stress plaguing him.

The others looked at their former alpha and beta and quietly shuffled around in a small circled while stroking themselves. It was nothing for the pack to come together and aid each other in times of need and when one of them needed release everyone got release. As the two on the floor began to yip and growl at each other the pack began a slow stream of howling.

In one sudden bark all the weredogs climaxes and Ezekiel and Isaiah became drenched in their packmates seed while letting loose their own.

"What in the nine hells are you doing?" everyone looked to see the human mage with a large bag in his hands staring at them. In another second his nose began to sprout forth a sell of blood and he dropped the bag to run pasts everyone into the bathroom

When the door slammed the pack of weredogs looked at each other in confusion and some fear.

"This will be interesting." Ezekiel panted while looking down at his mate

Ezekiel said nothing but wrapped his sticky arms around his lover and growled into his throat.
