Backstory- to explain Jakob's story, it would be much easier to explain his father, Jakob Wilhelm Grimm senior's grandfather's story first.

He was the son of both Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm. Strange, I know, but let me explain. First off, know they weren't gay and, no, he wasn't adopted. What happened was Jakob didn't have a physical brother but a second personality he called Wilhelm. He was just very good at hiding it. He even went so far as to occasionally pay someone to dress as Wilhelm and walk around in public with him just to keep suspicions low. Now, Wilhelm was a very hard-to-control side of Jakob and would often decide to try and come out at the most inconvenient times. When Wilhelm wanted out, there wasn't much Jakob could do but excuse himself from the room, go change clothes and return as his brother making some excuse for Jakob having to leave so suddenly.

Wilhelm wasn't evil, just lonely, locked up in Jakob's mind all the time. He had no one to talk to, so on Jakob's wedding night, when he and the new Mrs. Grimm were consummating the marriage, Wilhelm couldn't resist taking over and enjoying himself. The next day when Jakob awoke and realized what had happened, he wasn't as horrified by the fact that his "brother" had just had sex with his wife (since technically they were the same person, although he was still incredibly pissed off about that) as he was the fact that he could no longer know who the actual father was. After months of waiting, the baby was born and, to Jakob's horror, not only looked nothing like him...he didn't look like anybody. He was covered in a layer of black fur. His body looked like a cross between a human and a fox of some kind. He had ears and a tail, but between this he looked somewhat human besides the foxish build and fur. His legs also were different they were jointed like a fox's would be but they were longer like a human's so he could walk on them. When his mother saw them she became so shocked that she actually had a heart attack and died right there in bed. Jakob now had his answer. He also finally knew that his altered personality was more than just a personality. It had a face, not just a face but a whole body for that matter. When Jakob saw his furry son, he passed out and from there Wilhelm took over, pretending to be Jakob. He felt bad about not warning Jakob of the possibility of his son turning out like this, and for the fact that he was directly indirectly responsible for the death of Jakob's wife, so he chose a name he thought Jakob might approve of as a way of apologizing. Jakob never forgave him but kept the name anyway. This name has been passed down through the Grimm generations to all the sons since then, along with Wilhelm as a second personality.

From there, the story isn't very long. Jakob junior is still fairly young and has had a fairly normal life, well...as normal a life as a walking, taking half-human half-fox with a second personality can have.
