I scrunched back into the soft leather of the couch, "What happened to me Dustin?"

The tall man walked towards the wall, placed his arm against it and took a deep breath. "Tristan," he said looking towards me, "You were dying."

I shivered as the truth sank through me and the memories I had confirmed what he was saying.

"When I pulled Dean off of you," he continued, "he'd already drunk a good deal of your blood. I wanted to get him off you as quickly as possible. In doing so, well, the process tore into your shoulder more than it should have. Normally if or when someone is fed upon, there are only two small incisions made from the canines. After feeding, we have a chemical in our saliva that closes the wound. If you look hard enough, you can see the puncture marks like two small needles."

I ran my tongue over my now longer teeth. Dustin sat back down and grabbed a pack of cigarettes in a pocket from a jacket on the back of the couch.

Eli smacked his hand and grabbed the cigarettes, "Oh no you don't!" he chastised Dustin, "You said you were quitting and now's not the time to start back. It's not good for your health!"

Puzzlement ran over my face as I spoke aloud my thoughts, "Vampires good health?"

Eli gave a stern look at Dustin, "We supernaturals can get sick and injured as well. We're immune to most every major thing out there but we are still susceptible to certain things, like cancer. It won't kill us but it can fuck our systems all to hell for decades. We heal faster and can live a long, long time."

"And you sir," as he eyeballed Dustin, "Promised me that last time you had lung cancer that you would stop smoking these damn things. Every time you took a breath for six years, you sounded like you were going to spit up a lung!"

"WAIT?! WAIT, BREATHING?" I shouted louder than I meant at Dustin, "YOU'RE NOT DEAD?" In all of this craziness...

"No," he smirked, "I'm not dead; and neither are you." Those last four words sunk into my head. My blood had been drained but I was still alive. I was breathing. My chest was raising and lowering. I had gasped for breath.

Dustin pulled me close to his chest, "Listen..." I pushed my head closer. I could hear it. The faint 'lub/dub' of the heart as it beat, albeit much, much, much slower than normal.

"Another myth," Dustin said while rubbing my hair like a Father to a son. "You can hear it because of your hearing. Mortals can't because they aren't attuned and haven't been turned or use other means, thus," shrugging at the next statement, "they think we are the living dead."

I sat back amazed at everything and tried to make sense of it all.

I looked back up at Dustin, "Ok, so that asshole bit me and was near killing me. You pulled him off and yet I seem to clearly remember the two of you fighting."

He glanced over at Eli and the cigarettes only to have the other man crush them in his hand with a huge grin. Dustin grumbled and reached for some gum.

"We did fight Tristan," he continued, as he unwrapped the gum and popped it into his mouth, "Since he had fed on you, and recently on another vampire, his strength was a challenge for me."

Dustin rubbed his forehead, "Eli grabbed you after you slumped to the floor and pulled you to the side. Dean and I fought like hell and I got him wounded enough to try and finish him. He was recovering quickly because of the feeding. Fortunately one of the warlocks, Chance Perry, who is a Nurse Practitioner, EMT and the one who helped save your life, had enough wits about him during all the chaos to conjure a sword up for me to use on Dean."

"Hence," I gulped rubbing my neck, "the reason I remember his head between my legs with his mouth open." Dustin nodded.

Eli spoke up, "It's one of the few ways certain supernaturals can be killed."

I looked over at the man, "Um, I think that most anyone can be killed that way." Eli nodded, "True."

"Before we go any further with this" looking at the dark haired man, "What about you?" Raising an eyebrow at Eli, "I know what I saw."

"Moi?" he asked coyly putting a hand on his chest. My face showed my response.

Eli rubbed his nose, "Why, I'm just a harmless little puppy dog?"

Dustin started choking on something. I wasn't sure if it was a retort or saliva going down the wrong pipe from the gum while trying to get something out. He finally coughed, "You'd better tell him."

Eli grinned, "I'm a 'Lycan'."

I searched my brain. I know I had heard the word before. "I'm a werewolf," Eli finished while watching me wrack my still tired brain. My mouth dropped, "So, I wasn't dreaming." "Nope," he grinned.

"Want to see," he asked while standing up. I slowly nodded.

In the process of the final movement of my head, less than a few seconds, his body shimmered. He became taller, very tall as his muscles burst forth. Bones popped, making me cringe at the sound but still I continued to watch. His face still kept a humanoid look about it. He was humanoid. His facial features with wolfish and his mouth and nose combined into a short muzzle. His hands were bigger and more slender with sharpened nails. Short, dark hair had sprouted and covered his body.

What struck me most different was at his crotch! His balls were still there and still as large, if not larger, covered in hair but his uncut cock had now taken on the form of a sheath like that of a canine with his cock encased inside. I could only stare.

"What do you think?" he asked at my wide eyed visage. For the life of me, I had no clue why I wasn't terrified. I could only assume that it was because I was either in shock or the fact that these two men felt like... like they cared. I could feel something. I could feel their thoughts.

I could only say what I thought, "WHOA!" Taking it all in, I pointed down, "Um..."

Eli grinned, "Comes with the territory of being a 'wolf'... You know, all the features and what not?"

I raised an eyebrow, "You don't go all over town marking trees or fire hydrants do you?"

Eli rubbed his furry hand on my scalp, "Cheeky shit! Now I know why I was attracted to you!" I blushed.

"Watch," he said before he shimmered again and his face elongated and became more of a snout. Teeth grew even longer, eyes more red and some saliva coating his mouth. He looked meaner and more terrifying.

Dustin reached over and patted my leg, "They shift into that form when they need to fight. Lycans are a tough breed. Few vamps will tangle with them unless they are old and strong. Younger ones will do so only when they have fed well and they have a death wish."

I could only nod as I looked at the larger Eli and listened to his bone crack as he took a height of nearly eight feet. "You aren't enemies?" I asked.

Eli shook his head.

Dustin spoke up again, "It's difficult for a lycan to speak in this form. While they retain the human intelligence, their bodies are more canine so it's harder for him to talk."

"I can talk," Eli growled, "It's just unless you know me well enough or around lycans much it can be difficult to make out at times."

"But to answer your question," Dustin broke in, "No we aren't enemies. There have been a few lycan skirmishes during the centuries but those have been due to more of humans starting something or some rouge supernatural causing a problem."

"I can understand him pretty well," I said rubbing my hand along Eli's arm to feel the fur.

"Interesting," Dustin spoke without elaborating.

Eli shifted more and dropped to all fours. His hands and arms fully changed. He grew a tail and there before me was a HUGE FUCKING wolf. He sat and began wagging his tail.

Dustin shook his head, "Behave or I'll make you go fetch the evening paper."

Eli growled. It sounded more like a laugh though in my head. I could also hear his voice in my mind, "FUCK YOU BABE!"

The moment I heard it a pain shot through my head "OW!" I yelped, "Don't be so loud with the 'Fuck you', Eli." The wolf's tail had been wagging constantly prior but stopped the moment I got spoke up.

"YOU HEARD ME?" he shouted again.

"Yes, I heard you!" rubbing my temples again, "Not so loud, ok?"

Dustin looked up and grabbed my arms. "Can you hear me too?" There was no sound coming from his lips. I heard him in my head. I nodded and spoke, "Yes."

"Try to talk to me in your mind... say something back to me. Don't talk out loud," Dustin thought.

This was too weird. I nodded, closed my eyes and thought, "You have a nice ass and Eli has a huge dick and I wouldn't mind being between either." I peeked, nothing. No response.

"Try it again," Eli thought to me. I concentrated harder.

I thought of Eli and Dustin. I thought about them helping me. I thought "Thank you very much," but I didn't feel any response from either of them.

"This isn't working," I said in my mind still keeping my eyes closed. It was just funny that I could hear them at least. By then Dustin had removed his hands from me and turned around to grab something. I know because I peeked.

"Oh what the hell," I thought to both of them again knowing full well they wouldn't hear it, "You have a nice ass and Eli has a huge dick and I wouldn't mind being between either." I kept repeating it in my mind over and over snickering at the fact that at least I'd be able to keep my thoughts private.

Dustin froze halfway bending over and behind me I heard a 'whuffing' chuckle and then in my mind, "Kid if you keep that up I'll show you just what my huge cock can do!"

"OH SHIT!" I ran through my mind. "YOU DID NOT JUST HEAR THAT!?"

Dustin turned and looked at me, "I have a nice ass?"

I dropped back down to the couch. Eli moved over, still in full wolf form, and put his head on my knee and gave me a wink, "Want to try it doggy?" My eyes grew the size of dinner plates.

Dustin slammed down beside me, "Pup, behave."

Eli shifted again and then was in his human form, "I can't help it if I'm horny."

"Go finish fixing dinner babe. Add another steak on for Tristan," Dustin looked over to me, "You're hungry, right?" I nodded.

Dustin didn't say anything after that until we sat down for dinner. He did get up and find me some sweats of Eli's. We were close in waist size but I was smaller so they were a hair too big but I cinched them up tight. Fifteen minutes later we were sitting down to the steaks and a huge salad. I watched Dustin take a huge bite of steak and chew, "So I take it that the 'blood only' diet is a myth as well?"

He nodded with his mouthful allowing Eli to respond, "There are a lot of myths out there. One of them is that Vamps just drink the blood of the living." I touched my shoulder, raising an eyebrow. "Ok, well, that's not a normal situation." Dustin remained quiet.

"Look 'Little One'," he continued. I noticed that he'd taken to calling me that for a while now. I think with anyone else I would have been pissed but out of Eli it was cool. There was something both familiar and erotic about it. I had also discovered that, unless I concentrated, neither of them could hear me thinking to myself.

"Vamps do have to have blood. It's part of what happens from the change. They don't have to have it directly from a donor though anymore. Blood banks, plasma, etc are all acceptable means. Some even are 'vegetarian'," smirking at the term. I looked at him quizzically.

He grinned with a mouthful of salad, "They only drink animal blood. You know, pig, sheep, cow...etc." I still wrinkled my nose at the thought.

Dustin spoke up, "I'm sorry."

I turned to look at him as he put down his fork. "I'm sorry Tristan," he said sadly. "I didn't, wouldn't want this to happen to you. It was... Things were bad..."

I sighed, "How bad?"

Eli took a sip of his beer, "Tristan," as he swallowed, "You were dying. If we hadn't done what we had you wouldn't be here now." I knew Eli didn't like to beat around the bush. He needed to be honest.

The words sent shivers down my spine.

"Dean had drawn a lot of blood out of you," he continued as Dustin put his head in his hands, "so much so that you needed a transfusion." I nodded. "I keep blood on site for vamps that need it and if there is an emergency. By the way, speaking of blood, they only need once or twice a month."

"Anyway," he continued looking hesitantly at Dustin, "You were hooked up to EKG monitors, etc and Chance was taking all vitals while I ran to the back. Unfortunately, you have a very rare type," he paused taking on a morose look.

"You were out," I stated. Eli nodded.

"I keep blood as well for when someone is attacked by a rouge vamp never been given guidance. It doesn't happen that often anymore but once in a while...," he paused. "Generally when it does, it's when someone has been turned by some asshole and never given any guidance. The blood lust hits them not knowing how help is available to them to sate it. They have no one to teach them how to function in society, the rules and laws that govern us as supernaturals."

"Then again, we have had it happen where they are turned by some fucker who doesn't give a shit. A lot of times it's something we can handle at one of our 'centers' that we keep for such emergencies. We can rush the person in, get them a transfusion if necessary or just get them resting and healed up. We keep them sedated and then later hypnotized to remove the memory of their run in with one of us. You didn't have a lot of time though for Chance to get you there. You were fading fast," Eli sighed.

"Then how did you get the blood?" I asked while rubbing my temples.

Dustin looked up, "Me."

I turned slightly in my chair to look at the handsome man whose eyes now filled with pain, hurt, fear and concern.

"Chance needed blood. You and I are the same type. The problem was that I carry the vampiric meta-gene from my turning by my Sire. He was an old, ancient vampire; one of the first to be created by the first vampires born on the earth after the mutation," his eyes looking up to the ceiling.

Eli reached over and squeezed Dustin's shoulder, "Tristan," he continued for Dustin, "Chance connected a direct transfusion line between Dus and you."

"Thank you," I said softly bringing Dustin's attention back down to me.

"For what?" he asked with slight anger at himself at allowing this situation to occur, "Now giving you something that you really shouldn't have to be dealing with and now something more. Something I, Chance or Eli could have expected?"

I began to wonder what he meant but I needed to let him know that it was 'ok', "No," I said softly getting up to hug his neck, "For caring enough to save me."

I saw a tear drop down from Dustin's eye as I sat down.

"What's the meta-gene?" I got out while cutting into my steak again. Hell, I was still hungry.

"The meta-gene," Eli spoke up, "Is a genome that developed about a several millennia ago, around 6000 BCE around the pre-Egyptian culture. It's a mutation in the human genome that was created by a virus. The virus mutated further and developed specifics off of species through contact between infected humans and animals."

He straightened up and cracked his back, "Sort of like 'Bird-Flu and 'Swine-flu' in recent years, the meta-gene crossed into animals like that of wolves and such. When it returned to humans, those DNA pieces that attached themselves to the meta-gene virus changed the DNA of the individual."

I looked over at Dustin, "So it mixed with bats to make vampires?"

He was drinking his beer at the time and choked on it. Beer flew out of his nose and down his shirt.

It took a minute and his blowing his nose to clear it out, not to mention the coughing fit. Eli was trying to slap his back but he kept laughing too hard to complete it.

I sat there slightly mortified and at the same time annoyed.

Dustin finally got control, "No Tristan," he laughed, "The meta-gene virus developed originally within the vampire lineage. We were the first. It created a longer life span within us but at the same time it required us to need blood. There is an amino acid that our bodies lack along with a specific protein. Blood is the most expedient way to capture both. There have been attempts to synthesize the protein and the acid but it just doesn't give the same necessary parts as real blood. We can live on it, just not as well."

He got up to get another beer, "The gene-virus jumped from us to wolves and then back to humans and thus the 'Lycans'," pointing to Eli, "were born."

I looked over to Eli, "What about you?" He sat back, "What about me?"

"Well," I began, "if vampires need blood once in a while, then what do you need?" Eli got up, still naked, and placed his plate in the dishwasher. "Flesh and blood," he said nonchalantly.

"Um..."

"Relax 'Little One'," he chuckled wolfishly, "we don't require humans for food, contrary to popular mythos. We're wolves. We're hunters, not murders. Any flesh and blood does us. What did I have for supper?"

"Rare steak," I said. Eli's face drew into a large smirk. "OH!" as it dawned on me, "So like a wolf in the wild, you just need to eat any meat." He sniggered and I knew what he was thinking. I blushed just a little at my own slip.

"Now you've got it Sherlock," laughing and sitting down again, "A little rare beef or whatnot once in a while and we're good to go. Although, certain meat tastes better than others," smirking over at Dustin making him shake his head.

"Ok," I said, "but what's with being naked all the time?"

Dustin laughed, "He's a nudist at heart but also a lycan's bodily metabolism. It is speeded up from his wolf heritage. He has a higher body temperature and prefers to stay cool; but mostly he's an exhibitionist and horny little puppy."

Eli licked his lips and leered at both Dustin and I. That leer made my crotch tingle and my cock jump. That I could understand. I took a deep breath.

"So what about me?" I asked again while looking towards Dustin and trying to keep from throwing full wood. It had been way too long.

"That's a different story," again rubbing his temples. "You were in bad shape and had to have a transfusion."

"Meaning?" I asked.

"Tristan," he began, "let me explain something," indicating we should all move to the living room again. We got settled on the couch with me between the two of them and my head again resting on Eli's naked lap.

"You got a huge dose of my blood. That is something that NEVER happens or has ever happened. Generally, we do not 'turn' someone unless it is a life and death situation. Yours was. There are others out there, as I've said before, that will do it for kicks or worse. When you were bitten by Dean, you were on the verge of dying. We had to do something quickly. My blood was compatible but I also held the meta-gene virus."

"I made the choice to try and save you even though I didn't know what would happen. When someone is normally turned, they are near 'Death's Door'. They are given a choice. Take and continue or leave this world. Some take it; some don't believe it and throw off the mortal coil. If they do decide to take it, then usually it's only a little bit of the donor blood from the sire is used. Your situation was different," he sighed.

"Because of the amount of blood loss?" taking a deep breath.

"Yes," Dustin nodded, "Because of the blood loss, not having enough to stabilize you to the point in which you would have survived and that you were unable to make the choice due to your condition. But more than that, my Sire was an 'Old One'. An 'Enforcer', like myself, a direct lineage to one of the 'Firsts'."

I looked at him trying to comprehend the breadth and depth of his explanation.

"Tristan," as he took a deep breath, "I, and now you, are in direct line to one of the first vampires ever to walk the earth with the 'first' meta-virus; the original virus. Not the mutated virus that runs through most vampires veins now. The virus that runs through us is as pure as it was when it changed in the 'First Ones'. There are only a few of those like me in this world, maybe twenty or so, if even that. There are even fewer 'First One' sires."

Dustin rubbed his temples. I noticed he did that a lot when he was trying to come up with the best way to discuss something. He continued, "You got my blood, my genome and his blood and genome from the original source and for some reason it recombined within you. It shouldn't have done that at all. It should have just been the changed virus from me. Somehow, through me, you were given both my changed virus and the original from my Sire. Somewhere inside of me resided the original unchanged virus from him. How? I don't know. It's never happened in all of history."

"So what's the big deal then?" I asked not seeing where he was going with this at all.

Eli spoke up, "You were given an amount of blood that no human has ever received."
