I could sense her defenses were up just by the way she presented herself. "Calm, yourself sister I'm only here to speak with my mother and High Priestess Azalea." I replied showing my monk collar. She didn't believe me until see saw the totem attached to it. "Please, forgive me please go ahead inside." She replied opening the gate. "Thank, you before I go, do you know If Miranda is still here?" I wondered. "Yes, if my memory suits me." She replied. "No, you've done enough, thank you." I smiled walking inside.

I figure my first stop would be the main temple where Azalea should be. I'm sure she's going to lose her mind when she sees me standing in the temple. Most likely she'll think she seeing things unless I approach her. It should prove quite interesting either way. It was a short walk to the temple I remember to remove my shoes and socks before entering. As I walked towards the main atrium and statue. The further I walked inside the elder monks were looking at me funny.

Sure enough as I stood in front of the temple head spirit, I knelt down and made a small prayer. When I finished out of the corner of my eye the high priestess was speaking to the elder monks. She looked at me briefly before returning to her business. I made sure not to move from my spot in case she returned. The whole time I stood there the monks kept looking at me funny. It was the look like we know you but, we can't remember who you are.

"Excuse, me sir can I help you?" Monk Kari asked. "It's good to see you again sister you're looking well." I replied. She tilted her head in confusion until she took a second look at me. Before I knew it I was wrapped in a bone crushing hug. "Welcome, home brother." She smiled. "I'm glad to see your strength is still as strong as ever." I said as she let go. "I've got so many question I don't have a clue where to begin." She stated tearing up.

"Let them all go the fact is I'm home. There's a lot prayer I need to make up for since my time away. Right now I want to see an old friend and visit my mother." I informed. "Than, don't let me keep you just promise me you'll make time to catch up." She smiled walking away. "You'll be the first on my long list sister, I'll see you later." I said as she left the temple. It was good to know a lot of the people I grew up with were still here.

So I made my way to one of the confession huts where, Azalea would be. Once I sat down a little dim light came on and the sliding grate opened. "Please, forgive me for I have done some unforgivable things, mother. I beg to be forgiven by the spirits." I replied bowing. "Please, tell me what you have done and I shall see if you can be forgiven." Azalea replied. "Where shall I begin mother?" I wondered as a small smiled appeared on my muzzle.

"Where ever you feel comfortable with, my child." She replied. "Something wrong you seem awful distracted?" I asked. "It's nothing you need to worry about please, confess your sins." She remarked. "As you wish ma'am. It started many years ago when I was summoned to defend my country. During my time I had taken many men from their wives, children and parents. I also wasn't able to protect those I served with during that time." I stated.

"I can certainly understand how you feel about what you went through. Fate is a funny thing is springs itself on you when you least expect it. From what I can gather you and fate have crossed many times." She said. "Yes, we have I can't deny nor argue your wise insight, mother. I still feel like I betrayed those I called family with the sins I committed. I hope what I've done is forgiven by the spirits." I replied. "By admitting them and understanding the path you had to walk. You're sins are already forgiven by the spirits." She stated kindly.

"Thank, you mother your words have help me gain peace in my heart." I smiled. "Is there anything else you would like to confess to me my son?" She asked. "No, I have nothing else to confess but, could I ask for a hug from you." I wondered standing up. "I see no harm in it my, son." She replied as we exited the room. "Now, before you turn around and hug me. I have one final question for you." I informed. "Go, ahead." She said. "Do you recognized my voice?" I asked.

"To be honest yes, you do sound very familiar." She stated. "Turn around, Azalea." I replied. As she did I prepared myself for what was to come. When she stood face to face with she launched herself at me. We hit the floor hard she was so overwhelmed, she began nuzzling me. "You're alive I can't believe it, OH!, I'm so happy. Does your mother know you're here?" She asked as tears began falling. "Not, yet I wanted to come here first and get a few things off my chest." I informed.

"Well, get you're little butt over to see your mother. I'll talk to you later okay now get moving." She stated getting off me. We gave each one final hug then I headed to my mother's hut. As I took my time getting there a thought entered my mind. I thought entering the hut. Sure enough as I walked towards the kitchen she was cooking and humming a pleasant tune. She didn't seemed to notice my presence at all.

"Hello, Miranda how are you?" I asked changing my tone of voice. "Hmm?, Oh, fine for the most part still having some trouble getting over the loss of my son." She replied not bothering to turn around. "I heard, you have my condolences. I was wondering if by some means your son was still alive. What would you do if he came home?" I asked smiling at what was about to happen.

"Thank you, I'm not sure I guess I'd be relieved he's alive and home for good. Then I'd most likely smack him for not staying in touch." She replied. "Some how I knew you'd say that, mother." I replied speaking normally. The spoon she was holding clanged against the pot. As she slowly turned around I walked towards her. "P...P..please, tell me I'm dreaming or is that really you, Corey?" She asked as tears welled up.

"Yes, mother it's me, Azalea asked the same thing when I visited the temple." I said. Before I knew what hit me I was on the ground getting the life hugged out of me once again. "I'm so happy to have you home for good my son." She cried hugging me tighter. "Going to need to breath soon, mom." I wheezed. "Oh!, Sorry, baby." She replied letting go. "So, what's for dinner, smells good." I asked sitting up. "You'll just have to wait and find out. Now go get out of those clothes and into something far less formal." She instructed. "Yes, ma'am." I replied.

As I entered my room it looked like I never left home. So I placed my bag in the closet for the time being. I slowly removed my uniform folding each piece as I went. While I put on very old but, familiar clothes then I noticed a small box on my nightstand. I reached over and picked it up as I inspected the wooden box. It had the marine corp crest on it. "That arrived in the mail a few weeks back I never bothered to open it. I was afraid of what might have been inside." She replied standing in my doorway.

"It's a medal box mother a special medal is inside here. This is too small to be an urn, don't you think." I replied turning to face her. "Yeah, you're right dear you look good in your robes. That uniform doesn't suit you at all my son. Though could you answer one question for me. What's with all those other square tag looking things?" She asked. "Two of them are my ID tags the others are from my fallen comrades. Everyone in my old unit has them as a means to remember those we've lost." I informed.

"I understand my son there might be way to keep them close by, without having to wear them." She said. "Such as mother?" I asked. "Well, I have a this it's usually given to monks that have lost loved ones. Since you never actually left this world. I think it would be alright if you hung those tags inside." She replied placing on my nightstand. So I walked over opened it and placed the chain inside then closed it. "I hate to ruin such a nice moment but, I'm betting your hungry." She stated.

"Well, a little it, has been a while since I had a decent meal. Let alone one of your great home cooked meals." I smiled walking out of my room. "I'm still glad to know you find my cooking addicting. Well, I did take your advice about cooking for others." She smiled. "Oh? How'd that turn out for you mom?" I asked. "Well, Azalea figure my talent would be best suited for big events and special occasions." She replied. "I had a feeling she'd say that, though I can't say I wasn't far off." I stated.

"Yes, you were son now, wash your hands and get the table ready." She said turning off the stove. So I did as she told me I grabbed a couple plates and forks then placed them on the table. "Mind if I join you tonight?" Azalea replied unannounced. "Of course high priestess." Mom stated as I grabbed another set of utensils. "Ok, you can't fool me old friend why are you really here?" I asked looking over my shoulder.

"Isn't obvious I always come here to have dinner with your mother. Ever since that letter came in the mail, I decided to spend time with her. She was really torn apart, Corey. So seeing you home for good is a welcome sign of relief for everyone." She informed. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to put the both of you through all that." I said lowering my ears. "Hey, you couldn't control what happened anymore than we could." Mom replied comfortingly. "The fact is you're home." Azalea pointed out.

"Yeah, the funny thing is I don't think someone like me should remain here." I said. "Do you feel your place is else where or are you begin called elsewhere?" Azalea wondered. "That's the thing I don't know I feel like I'm being drawn somewhere.. Like something from my past is calling out to me and I need to find it." I stated. "Yeah, I can see how that might be a problem. In any case take a few days for yourself before doing anything." Mom replied placing our meals down.

During dinner we caught up on lost time, mostly about where I've been the last seven years. They were rather shocked I had been nearly all over the world. I didn't go into the more gritty details which they understood. Since I didn't want to retell those parts to begin with. Sadly as the night wore on it was getting late. I knew Azalea had to return to the main temple. So I offered to escort her back she was more than happy with the idea.

"You know I've never seen your tail wag so much before. Did I say something that excited you?" I replied. She turned around walked over to me kissed my cheek and sashayed inside the temple. Sadly, for some weird reason I couldn't help but, watch that butt of hers. "Enjoying the backside view, Corey?" She remarked looking over her shoulder. "Nope, just wondering how after all these years your tail is still fluffy." I smiled teasingly.

"Brat." She shot back. "Maybe a little so what's been going with you personally. I hear you haven't settled down and married yet mind if I ask, why?" I replied. "All suitors I've meet weren't genuine they only cared about the power and status I have. Granted a couple of them were kind and didn't seem to care about that. Though a majority cared more for getting into my panties more than anything." She informed as we entered the temple.

"Sheesh, I would've kicked their teeth in for pulling a stunt like that. Though being a high priestess not exactly a wise idea considering the standards you need to keep." I stated. "Don't remind me it was hard enough to actually enjoy those dates." She pointed out. "You need to look in a place where you wouldn't think to look for someone." I said. "Oh!, I think I got that area already covered. The problem is would my potential man be willing to follow along." She stated with a rather odd tone.

"I'm sure that lucky guy would have a hard time resisting you." I replied. Sometimes I really need to pay attention the subtexts more. "Corey, follow me to my sleeping quarters. I need to fill you in on something rather personal." She informed. So I followed her not knowing exactly what I was getting myself into. It didn't take us long to enter her own private quarters. As I looked around and I was amazed at all the ceremonial artifacts hanging up on the walls.

"My mother did all the decorating before her passing. I didn't have the heart to change anything. So I made a small decree that the next High Priestess to take my place isn't permitted to change this room." She replied. "I can understand though I can't see why anyone would. This room has such a calm warm feel to it. Though I do agree with completely for making such a choice. Wait a minute there are two ways for that to happen. One, is if you step down from the monastery or Two you marry and have a child." I pointed out.

"Both are true but, I have no intentions of stepping down. Corey, do you recall a long time ago. When I said we had a special connection." She replied. "Yeah, when we shared a bath together but, I assume we were good friends." I stated. "True we're friends but, I feel this friendship has a deeper purpose. Please close and lock the door I don't want anyone barging in on us." She pointed out. After doing what she asked, Azalea tapped a spot next to her on the bed.

I was a little hesitant at the suggestion then again she wouldn't pressure me into anything. So I eventually sat down at the far end of her bed. She looked at me funny but, shrugged her shoulders and slid closer. "Relax, Corey if I wanted sex don't you think I'd be bedding you already." She informed. "True, you would but, it's not like you to act like this." I said. "So, you know I haven't seen you in seven years. Maybe I want to talk you perhaps hold you during the night. This way I know it's not a dream, I'm having." She replied.

"Well, I know of a better way to test that theory." I stated feeling my heart race. "So do I Corey, come here." She smiled. Before I could move her hands grabbed my shirt and dragged me close. I ended up on top her I got a little nervous that our bodies were so close. As I looked down at her I saw she had this lonely look. There was something in the air we could sense though at first neither of us understood it. She leaned up brushed her muzzle against mine, I simply did the same. Her fur was softer than anything I've ever felt.

"Corey, since the day I met you I felt this strange bond. I tried my best to keep it hidden from you and the others. Now that bond has only gotten stronger. Please, allow me to show my true feeling towards you." She replied kissing my lips. I could feel just how she felt towards me in that one instant. "Are you sure about this, Azalea after all I'm not a fox. You know the elder monks won't approve of us being together." I pointed out.

"You know something I don't care what they think. You shouldn't either since we know they just like to complain." She stated. I thought for a moment what she said did make sense. As I was lost in my thoughts she decided to break my concentration. Her lips met mine I snapped back to reality and looked into her green eyes. The look in her eyes told me everything she had hidden these feelings for a long time. In some way I felt rotten for allowing them to go unnoticed.

"Azalea, I'm sorry for ignoring you for all these years. If I had been more attentive towards you this would've never occurred." I said caressing her cheek. "You don't have to be sorry, Corey just make love to me and be my husband. I'll forgive you for everything you believe you've done wrong." She replied kissing me deeply. As the night went on are clothes made their way onto the floor.

Our bodies joined in intimacy and pleasure our hearts desires being fulfilled. All that could be heard coming from her room was the sounds of mating. We would continue our love making well into the pre-dawn hours. Once our energy left us she cuddled into my chest and we both feel into a deep sleep. A few hours later one of the elder monks started banging heavily on the door.

"High Priestess it's time to get up you have a lot to do this morning." She informed. We were both out cold until her pounding got louder, until I got out of bed. As I opened the door her face turned bright red with shock and embarrassment. Considering when I answered the door in the nude and with a semi-morning wood. "Please, come back in two bloody hours, thank you." I replied closing the door. "Was that necessary love?" She wondered with a groggy tone. "Maybe I should've put a do not disturb sign on the door." I smiled crawling back into bed.

"It really doesn't matter now does it come back here, love. I'm not done with you or this for that matter." She smiled as she fondled my crotch. We must have mated three more times before finally leaving the bedroom. As we entered the temple the monks were dumbfounded. We knew they'd be shocked that, Azalea choose me over her other suitors. Considering I wasn't a fox though they voiced their disapproval. In the end it was Azalea's choice to make who she married.

My mother on the other hand cried tears of joy. The other monks slowly came to except the fact we'd be wed winter of next year. I decided to send invitations to my old unit figuring they've been discharged. Though I wasn't sure how strong my hunch was but, I'll find out sooner or later. For now I have to learn my new duties as the husband of the High Priestess. Honestly, none of them sound like any fun since it's quite a list of tasks to do.

I'm confident in myself I can get the job done without too much trouble. At least I have support from not only my fiancé but, my mother as well. With the three of us working together things will be easier, hopefully. In the months that followed I adjusted to my new rank. Some of the tasks were still hard but, I always managed to get them done. As I finished with my duties I figured I'd go outside for some fresh air.

Once I stepped outside the weather was not cooperating at all. It was pouring so heavily you couldn't see very far. "Dear, why are you standing out in this rotten weather?" Azalea wondered as she stood behind me. "Hmm?, No, reason just enjoying the rain why something wrong?" I replied. "Come, on inside I'd like to cuddle against my fiancé by the fireplace." She smiled grabbing me arm. So we walked back to our little living area and sat down by the fireplace.

I sat there thinking about everything I've been through growing up. Wondering if this was my reward for surviving that dark, rotten winter night. Like all those events I went through were merely a path set before me. That leaded me here to this exact time and place. Along with being in the company of someone I love deeply. Whatever the reason as they are, I've often dreamed about.

As time passed Azalea and I were wed, it was a wonderful ceremony. All our close friends and my mom were crying intensely. Sadly, no one from my old unit arrived to take part in it. I had a feeling they were away on mission so I didn't let it bother me. After our little honeymoon I had a guest waiting for me. So I went to where they were waiting considering I didn't know how long they'd been waiting. For us to back home from our wonderful honeymoon.

When we arrived at the main temple the person standing there was, Silk. "Hey, there Major long time no see." I replied smiling. "Well, you certainly didn't waste any time. It's an honor to meet you high priestess." She replied bowing towards my wife. "The honor is all mine, Gina though I do have a small bone to pick with you." Azalea stated. "Dear, that was a long time ago don't ruin the moment." I pointed out. "I'm sorry about that your husband is hard to resist." Silk informed.

"I won't argue that point." Azalea smiled. "I'll let you ladies talk while I go attend to the luggage." I said walking away. "Don't over do it I'm not done with you mister." They replied in sync. I paused for a moment as my tail twitched slightly. As I continued my way back out towards the truck, I spent forty minutes unpacking. While they conversed amongst themselves peacefully. The one thing that didn't seem right was, where's, Gina better half.

"Well, our luggage is safely unloaded and stored in our room." I replied sitting down. "Thanks, dear." Azalea smiled kissing me on the cheek. As I sat down the one thing that wouldn't leave alone was why Silk's here alone. Azalea could see something was on my mind but, she didn't speak up. "I bet you're wondering why Rianne isn't here." Gina spoke. "Yeah, kind of." I replied feeling guilty.

"Well, not too long ago I came home from the service. My first stop was to see my folks and in-laws. Since they were closer than my home was from the base. When I finally got home there were two cars in the driveway hers and another I didn't know. I'm pretty sure you can guess the rest I don't have say anymore." She informed. "So did you have a messy divorce?" Azalea asked.

"Nope, I just walked in pack my things, handed her my wedding ring and left." Gina replied. "So what will you do know?" I asked. "Right, now I'm doing fine though I have no intentions of dating for the time being. I'm not exactly a spring chicken, I'm in my late forties. Granted I have no trouble staying shape. It's just you know something why am I even bothering to retell all this." Gina stated. "Sometimes it's good to vent about things that upset us." I pointed out.

"Azalea, is there any way I could borrow that male of yours for a couple of hours?" Gina asked licking her lips. "For what purposes, Gina?" She wondered. "That man of yours is well blessed definitely where it counts. I'd merely like to take a small ride for myself." Gina said playfully. "Sorry, I have no intentions of loaning him to you." Azalea stated. Of course both women looked at me questioningly. "Hey, leave me out of this it's bad enough being the subject of the conversation." I barked.

Both women fell to the floor dying of laughter at my sudden response. Sadly, I didn't know what to do in this particular situation so I left quietly. Mostly to avoid further miscommunication and teasing from my wife and close friend. I spent a little time going through some of my old stuff. Naturally it didn't take the women long to come looking for me.

Once they walked into my little office and saw me, they simply gave me some space. I could over hear some of their conversation at least it wasn't about me. Not sure if I could tolerate being the butt end of their humor. After a while Azalea came over to see if I was alright after their little teasing. The smile on my face told her that I was feeling better that I'd be joining them shortly.

After a while I eventually left my little office space. Sadly the girls weren't around so I went in search of them. As I searched the entire monastery the only place I hadn't gone was the bathhouse. This was the last place I hadn't checked yet. My mother's hut was the most recent and she was out with friends. Sure enough when I got inside I could here laughter coming from the female side.

Naturally I wouldn't dare walk over there so, I decided to go on my side. Normally I don't enjoy bathing in the afternoon I prefer going early in the morning. Since we got home from the airport a bath did sound like a good idea. Once I got undressed, I slowly sat down in the hot water. All the stress from the flight and luggage check melted away. Sure enough the girls became aware they were no longer alone.

"Corey, is that you on the other side?" Gina called out. "Yeah, it's me is my wife there to or are you alone?" I wondered. "No, I'm here dear I was under the water." Azalea replied. "Ah!, Alright, please stay on that side please. I saw some of the other monks coming this way. So I don't think it's a good idea to sneak over." I pointed out. "AWWW!" They whined. "Sorry, girls maybe some other time cause I hear them entering now." I informed as the other monks entered the bath house.

Before they actually entered the bath itself both women slipped onto my side. As I came up for air they were sitting across from me. "You tend to forget my husband I can be very crafty under pressure. Besides I've been talking with Gina she's doesn't have a place to stay. She's been traveling for a while now I don't think you'd mind of she lived here." Azalea informed as I covered myself. "Of course not she's welcome here, I have no quarrel with that dear." I stated.

Gina's eyes lit up when I agreed to let her stay, as long as she saw fit to. Hey, she's helped me out in the past it felt good to return the favor. Though I knew it was going to be rather interesting having her around but, I let the feeling go. Seeing her happy some how mattered more than anything else. Azalea could see it in my eyes she knew that some where down the road. That Gina and I would eventually take that intimate step. She didn't seem to mind the thought of it happening. As so much as Gina and Azalea doing the same in the future.

All in all, life is a game of complete uncertainty and sometimes you know what's coming your way. Other times you're flying by the seat of your pants. While the rest well I'll leave that up to you my friends. In the years to come for us it's a waiting game. Maybe fate has finally given me the answers I've been searching for. Hopefully your lives will smooth once certain things play themselves out. Thank you all for reading, I pray it has given you answers to some of your own questions.

The End.
