#1 of Uncommon Attractions

An exasperated sigh was lost in the sound of the wind that whirled at Blaine, blowing the ends of his hair back against his eyes a bit. As he began up the sidewalk to the school he bundled up inside his hood jacket as best he could. "I Hate Mondays!" he groaned as he began up the stairs of the front entrance of Mahogany High. Inside everyone was still groggy from the weekend so the few furs that were as early as he was seemed pretty agitated. As he began down the west hall the closer he got toward the end of the faint scent that wavered from the teachers lounge. A mixture of different foods each sent their scent to Blaine's nose. "Guess I get breakfast this mornin" he grinned as he passed the door- turning down the hall continuing to his locker- glancing inside to make sure it was empty. Seeing as how his locker was in walking distance he dropped his back-pack before his locker and darted into the teacher's lounge. Once inside, he let out a disappointed growl as he came to realize most of the food had already been scarved down and the only remains were scraps, crumbs, and the rest was just picked over burnt pieces of food. Fortunately the coffee maker just finished brewing, so at least he could get a jump-start. He gave one final survey of both halls before he mixed up a cup of coffee and plopped down on the couch with a sigh "Today's gonna be long."

On the other side of the school TJ was just arriving on his bus. However, this timid feline wished today never even began. After being pushed back into his seat or growled at by every fur that didn't allow him to exit his seat he accepted the fact that he was gonna be exit the bus last, again. As he stepped of and the bus pulled off the cold gust immediately began to whip at him. As he began for the side entrance of the door he noticed the door stop had been removed but everyone else had already gone inside. He gave a few knocks against the steel door but no one ever opened it. After the a while the cold air began to really get to him, so as he arced his ears back he exit through the bus drive and head for the front lawn entrance. He bundled up as best he could in his white polo, but the cold air still managed to sting even through his fur and his khaki cargo pants. Once inside he frantically began to try and warm his fur by means of friction. TJ's day was already shaping up to be a sad one. As he turned down the left hall every fur that came across his path seemed energetic enough to make some fun of the feline. Some snickered and others whispered in their friends ears as they passed him sounds of laughter could be heard behind him. TJ still had his ears folded back, his stubby tail arced downward, and his head held low. Although this was pretty much morning routine he still wished for different treatment. As he neared his locker and was about to turn down the hall to his locker he accidentally walked head on into someone exiting the room before him. With a soft meep he fell back onto his book bag and looked up only to find the figure had hardly been moved. (I just had to bump into a cool kid this early in the morning) he thought.

"You watching where you going?" The husky before him stood with dominance, the leg of his black South Pole jeans stood straight up and his chest seemed to be protruded out in his FOX shirt. The K9 asked looking down at the kit out the corner of his eye.

"....ummm....no.....sorry......I wasn't....." he responded, remaining on the floor. Turning his attention back down the hall the K9 simply said "Do-so next time" and walked back to his book bag. TJ scrambled to his feet and walked down the hall to his locker which happened to be directly beside the husky's. He waited off to the side as Blaine withdrew what books he would need and exchanged his bag for a knapsack before casually leaving the hall. "Today......is gonna be a long day...." TJ said as he put in his combination.

As the day dragged on things began to get back to usual- it began to warm up, just about every student taunted TJ, and Blaine got his daily acknowledgement,- but the day didn't end there: 3rd period Blaine was fully alert and somewhat erect in gym. Kendra was in his gym class this semester and her outfits always captivated the boys in class. As the class had a brisk jogg around the gym chance pat Blaine's arm a couple of times saying,

"Look at that" pointing at the feline's rear as it tossed back and forth with each step "man if I could get at-

"But you're not even gonna get a chance, kid" Blaine cut in with a smirk-

"You know how lame puns are?" the bull snorted-

"Yeah, but I was tellin you the truth," he responded "I bet you I could get you her number"-

"Yeah Right!!" he shouted-

"Watch this" the husky grinned- as he pulled ahead and over to the side of the leopard. As the coach blew the whistle for the class to walk Blaine caught her attention as after a few words the feline was giggling in minutes.

"No way" Chance whispered wide-eyed as he strolled behind the two. As the husky leaned over and whispered into her ear he pointed back at the butt causing the girl to look over her shoulder and really begin to get a laugh. "That little punk" the bull snorted as he dashed in between the couple.

"You two seem to be having a hilarious conversation" he grunted-

"OH, no, Blaine was just telling me a joke" she sniggered-

"What was it then?" he inquired

"ummm......uh....he said-"

"I was just saying, it kinda looked like you were lopping instead of jogging" the husky said shrugging with an arrogant smile-

"Lopping" the bull asked a bit confused-

"Ya know" Blaine said, flailing around a bit as if he were running "Like that"- Placing her paw over her mouth, Kendra couldn't help but to laugh. Chance looked over at the feline then back at his friend with a playful grin

"Well, let's see how well you run then" the bull retorted with a slight hint of amusement- Just then the whistle sounded for the students to resume jogging but that commenced the chase between Chance and Blaine. The husky bolted off laughing, but when he looked over his shoulder the bull wasn't far behind him and was closing in. He yipped and began to sprint faster and faster until BANG!!! The K9 ended up tumbling over another student, rolled a few times, and landed with his back to the wall and someone in his lap. "Damn...." he groaned groaned, rubbing his head. As he came back into focus he realized the furball before him was TJ. He didn't even realize he was even in the same class till then.

The Husky's gaze was locked the with the felines, TJ's deep brown eyes locked with Blaine's forest green eyes. For a moment he felt his face warm beneath his fur. But just as quickly as the event occurred it was over when the two were brought back to reality by the other furs in class. Laughter echoed through the gym, even the coach was getting a good laugh off this spectacle. The look in Blaine's eyes took on a frustration and anger as he growled "Get, Off Me already!!" and shoved the feline to the ground.

TJ layed there for a moment still somewhat stunned from what just happened.

"This is the second time you got in my way" Blaine heaved himself to his feet and looked back down at the feline "Don't go for strike three" gave a deep growl and resumed jogging. (What just happened?) TJ thought as he began to stand up only to feel a heavy hand on his head sling him back to the floor "You don't wanna get in my way" Chance retorted with a smug grin and went to catch up with Blaine. The coach walked over extending a helpful paw to the kit still sniggering a bit. Next class was the last of the day and TJ was somewhat relieved. After having his clothes hidden in the locker room he had to sprint to Mrs. Blair's class. Upon entering the room he began to pant from that exhausting run. As he brought his head up he noticed everyone was began to snicker some even broke into laughter, but the feline still couldn't see what was so hilarious. As he looked around the room he noticed the only available seat was at a four team table directly in front of air conditioner. As he looked the team over he noticed he was sitting with a Ferret, a roo, and..........(Blaine?!?!.......just how many classes do I have with this guy?!?.) As he sat across from the husky he caught a couple of threatening looks and light snarl. TJ simply folded his ears back trying not to make eye contact with the husky and not focus on the cold air blowing at his back, but with no pull over -or tail for that matter- to keep him warm he was shivering within seconds.

Half way through the class Blaine caught sight of the feline almost trembling from the cold (Oh man......that really wasn't right.......they shouldn't have sat him in front of that A/C) Blaine did a quick survey of the room noticing neither Chance nor Kendra was in this class then brought his attention back to the feline who was obviously trying not even to cross paths with him again. With a light sigh he slipped his jacket off and tapped his foot against TJ's leg "Sppsss........you cold?" TJ seemed a little shocked, but managed to give a slight nod. With that Blaine slid his hood jacket across the table to the feline "Here......take it." TJ paused and gave a puzzled look. "You gonna take it or not" Blaine questioned. "...Sure" TJ responded as he slid the jacket on "....thank-you...." "Don't mention it.....literally" Blaine said giving him a stern look. The kit nodded in acknowledgement to the comment. (Wow........is this for real?). The scent of the husky wavered up to the feline's nostrils and the warmth still lingered inside the jacket (Why would he just....loan me his jacket?......)

As class progressed and eventually came to an end every student rushed out of the school heading to the bus, car, or just broke out walking. However both TJ and Blaine had to make to the other side of the school to gather their things and make it through the on coming cluster of furrs headed to their destination. When they eventually made it to their lockers the halls were gradually quieting down but a few students remained. TJ quickly gathered his books and his bag and headed for the bus only to feel a firm yank, and be slung back against the locker and pinned down with a paw.

"Were you gonna try and steal my hoodie" Blaine growled. The kit didn't even realize it was still on; he looked himself over and then looked back up at the husky with sorrowful eyes

"n-no......I....forgot I had it......" he stammered-

"You bout to kick his ass Blaine?!?!......want me to help?" Chance said excitedly. Looking over his shoulder Blaine simply said

"Chance, man......don't you have somewhere to be?......Go Home!!" The bull briskly walked off

Poking his head around the corner the bull said, "Leave a bruise man, leave a bruise" and continued to amble down the hall. The K9 sighed before turning his attention back to the feline in his grasp and slowly removed his paw saying "Just take off the jacket." Around this time TJ wasn't sure what to think or say but he hastily did as told and presented the jacket back to its owner. Blaine simply draped it over his shoulder and continued retrieving his books as if that whole conflict never happened...almost as if the kit wasn't even there.

".....Thanks for......ummmm....letting me use it....." TJ said "and...I'm not ungrateful...or anything......but.....why did you loan it to me?......."-

"Really.......I don't know...." Blaine drew his attention back to the feline "ya know.....you had enough to deal with today.....you didn't deserve to be picked on by the air conditioner too....." he said with a playful smile, but as TJ folded his ears back and looked away sadly Blaine changed the subject

"And.....I guess I should.....apologize for the incident in gym......I was just.....bein an ass" At that moment the first smile of the day lit up TJ's face as he said " S'ok.....and thanks" he said. The kit's ears began to redden and a warm blush rose to his cheeks from the comment "We cool?" Blaine asked, holding out his paw. The whole moment almost left TJ in awe but he reacted immediately grabbing the paw, giving a light shake "Yep" The blush began to get a little brighter and the smile stretched across his face. None of his peers ever treated him like this, the hold moment made his heart race. Then Blaine said, "I'm gonna need my paw back so I can get my stuff, TJ" The feline gave a light giggle but managed to keep it contained as he released the husky's paw. Blaine dove back into his locker trying to retrieve his last book wedged underneath various notebooks and binders.

"....Hey.....Blaine...." TJ whispered.

"Yeah?" The K9 leaned out of his locker enough to acknowledge the feline.

"....Thanks again...." and with that something compelled TJ to go over the edge. The feline leaned over, narrowing his eyes till they shut and licked the husky's cheek affectionately, purring loudly as his tongue slid up the husky's cheek and finally separated his tongue from the K9's cheek. The purr that he resounded through his body became loud enough for the husky and anyone else in the hall to hear. When he saw the stunned expression on Blaine's face anxiety swelled in his body as the worse began to play in his head, and it was then that he realized what he'd just done. Slowly he backed off, and darted around the corner and down the hall to the bus.

When Blaine came through and realized what just happened the feline was almost passed the gallery entrance "HEYYY!!!!.......TJ!!!!" he shouted
