Holy balls! Was this chapter so complicated for me! lol My computer is the worst xD It froze on me during the ending of this so I avoided it until I got the motivation from two special people in my life here on SoFurry. Without them, they would have never motivated and kept me in the right mood to write this. Thank you to Tyrse Styles and Sakato for the support. SEQUEL STORY TO TWO WORLDS, DON'T READ UNTIL YOU'RE CAUGHT UP! :3

Shattered Dream

Kevin shook his head after staring into those cold eyes for what seemed like 20 minutes. This wasn't something he expected to find on what was just ending to be a great night with him and Clarissa having to share their first act in romance; in fact, it all just threw him off guard completely. This wasn't even possible! He had to be hallucinating! The character in front of him wasn't supposed to even exist! He was supposed to be imaginary for Christ sakes!

But here he was, Demetrius Crawford, the character from his mind had actually opened the balcony door to his apartment and stood tall in his living room with a hard gaze beaming on the Human. He sensed anger, pity, and determination in those eyes, but Kevin just stepped back and immediately gazed slightly in the direction of the hallway, peaking at Skylar's door and reminded that he had to be a father and protect his son from any intruder that walked into his home.

Even if it meant protecting his son from him.

"No..." Kevin whispered, still shaking his head. Heck, his whole body was a quaking mess right now. Just being in the presence of something virtually impossible was making him scared.

Demetrius remained silent but his breathing was loud and harsh, as if he had ran 20 miles to get to Kevin's apartment. His eyes remained hard on Kevin's brown ones, piercing into the depths of his brain and trying to read the mind of the shaken 26 year old in front of him. But all he could read was disbelief, shock, and worst of all: Fear. But why fear? It didn't make sense, shouldn't Kevin be running into the Husky's grip right now, hugging and kissing and crying his happy relief that their finally together again?

They loved each other once, and it was all Demetrius could think about for the whole ten years they've been apart. When the Husky walked into the room, Kevin's reaction wouldn't be a feared one, but more of a brightening happiness that became infectious to him. Wasn't that love? Being happy to see the person you'd want to spend the rest of your life with?

But suddenly, Demetrius was reminded of why.

It was her.

"No..." Kevin repeated the same word again and felt his heart punching into his throat. For some reason talking was achingly hard to do right now.

"Shut up!" Demetrius barked and clenched all his muscles to emphasise on the rage he was feeling, glaring into the Human's eyes more fiercely now.

Kevin gasped shortly, feeling the fear in his stomach screaming at him to not make a sound or else he'd find out what that rage in the Husky would do to him. But he had to not show much fear or else the Husky would know it. Kevin had to be strong, but right now he wasn't sure if he could even stand with all this pressure pressing down on him.

Demetrius growled and started to walk towards him... but it was pointless. Kevin bolted around the counted with quick reflexes that the Husky didn't have time to register it. Still though, Demetrius had to react in the same way and gripped the other side of the counter opposite of Kevin, both of them keeping their cautious eye on each other and slowly catching their loss of breath.

"Why are you running?" Demetrius demanded but never expected to get an answer from the scared Human in front of him. His expression said it all, practically screamed fear at the Husky and wanted him to leave him alone.

But that wasn't going to happen. Ten years he waited to do this, and he wasn't going to back down now.

Kevin's eyes shot for the hallway again and eyed Skylar's bedroom door, making sure that Skylar wasn't awake from hearing Demetrius' demand. Once satisfied for a few seconds, he looked back into those intense glacier blue eyes and felt his survival instincts kick in. He needed to call the cops, but the phone was on the other side of the room, there would be no way he could do that without getting attacked by the monster in front of him.

Monster? Kevin thought to himself, Its Demetrius! Not some serial killer! What is going on!?

_ _ Crossing the phone off his survival tactic, Kevin had to improvise. Looking around quickly, he locked onto the knife rack beside him on the counter and immediately reached to grab one of the long stainless steel knives from it. Once he held it towards the Husky, all he got in response was a confused look of hurt.

But that expression changed quickly from confused to dark, monstrous savage. Locking his cold eyes hard on the brown ones, all he said was; "Don't even try."

But if it meant the protection of him and his son, Kevin wouldn't listen to the Husky in front of him. Kevin had to get rid of him for good, right now he didn't even want to be around Demetrius. He's the reason why Kevin had so much trouble growing up with a therapist and his parents scolding him about talking about walking-talking animals! It took ten years to convince him he wasn't real! And now here he is... real as ever!

"Get out."

He said it. He finally built up the energy to spit those harsh words out of his mouth and actually make it sound like he meant it. It was harsh with anger and sorrow, but that's all it took to make sure that the message was delivered to the imaginary Husky.

He isn't real, this is just my mind, he isn't real, and I'm just tired... He tried to convince himself by repeating these words, but deep down he knew he was lying.

Demetrius's gaze darkened with anger, "Kevin..." He said harshly in a whisper, putting all his emotion into that name. It was all he could get out before the lump in his throat swelled enough to make him cry out his entire emotions, but that was never going to happen. "Put down the knife..."

"I said get out."

He didn't move, but Demetrius knew he was pushing his own luck. "Kevin, don't make me hurt you."

"You can't! You're not real!"

The Husky's expression changed suddenly to shock now. Not real? What the hell is he talking about? "Kevin, are you kidding me?" He leaned forward on the counter, "How can you think I'm not real? I'm standing right in front of you, what more proof do you need?"

Kevin's eyes shifted a bit as he tightened his grip on the knife, sweat started to build on his head and drip down but he managed to keep his posture up. He knew he was right, but still though; he couldn't be convinced that easily! It was physically and emotionally impossible for him to exist!

"Kevin! What is going on?" Demetrius demanded sharply, his heart aching for his Kevin to be back to normal.

Kevin swung the knife.

Demetrius reacted immediately and grabbed his wrist, twisting it for his hand to loosen its grip and be tossed across the counter. Kevin cried out in pain but Demetrius had to make a point still. Pulling on his wrist and slinging Kevin over the counter, the Husky body slammed Kevin's body on the wooden flooring and pinned both his arms behind his back, trapping him on his stomach and straddling his back side to lean down onto him with all his weight.

Kevin struggled to break free, but the familiar grip the Husky had was too powerful.

"Kevin stop," He didn't stop, "Just stop!"

His body paused and remained silent on the floor. Demetrius remained silent with him for a few seconds before finally lifting up his body weight a little for him to breathe better.

"Who is she?"

Kevin tensed and started to struggle again, but Demetrius dropped his body weight back on and made it hard for him again.

"Stop fighting." He groaned in annoyance.

"Leave me alone!"

"Daddy?"

Both of them looked up and saw the little boy in the hallway staring with scared eyes, his hands clutching his teddy bear tightly.

"Daddy, I'm scared!"

Demetrius growled, "Damn it," he wasn't supposed to be seen.

Especially by him...

The second Demetrius opened the door to Kevin's apartment, Damien fled. He wasn't going to risk getting in trouble by his commanding general. The Tiger wasn't the type to get into trouble anyway, he was a good soldier who served the King for 10 years, so Brook would just leave him alone most of the time.

Though Damien wished he could say the same about his Husky friend who had the stubbornness of a Cat, but admitting that entering that apartment was not an option, it seemed for Demetrius. Seeing Kevin being all over that woman must have killed the taller warrior inside, after all he waited 10 years to be with Kevin in the first place. He understood his pain quite well, but still, Damien couldn't help but want to say "I told you so" to the Husky. Because he was right, he warned Demetrius that Kevin may have moved on after all these years and there he was, smacking lips with another partner.

The Tiger sighed as he leaped another building gap, tuck rolling into another sprint and stopping at the other end of the roof, looking down at the warehouse that sat next to the cold, chilling night water. At this time of night the weather brought a creeping fog that lingered the concrete surface below, making the street lamps illuminate the white clouds and bring hide any activity that went on in the warehouse from any passing by cop vehicles, making them completely incognito to anyone really.

"Home sweet home..." The Tiger grumbled and leaped off the edge, gripping a drain pipe that led vertical up and down the buildings side and slid down gracefully, landing atop a dumpster at the bottom and hopping off to touch ground. Once he snuck his way using the fog to get across the vacant street, Damien went around the back of the warehouse and opened the back door.

By the time he closed the door behind him, he already heard the hollering from further down the warehouse. "This is your fault!" growled the person angrily, the threat in his voice so sickening that it almost seemed to vibrate the ground, "You called the shots! You got him killed! I should have your head on a fucking stick!"

That didn't sound too good, and by the ferocious snarling coming from that person, Damien could suddenly feel who it was the second those threats were hanging in the open air for everyone to hear.

"Soldier, stand down!" Brook, the strong bulky horse, yelled back and his firm voice seemed to be holding its ground just fine, which was exactly like the General anyway, hard as a rock with no fear ever taping into his voice. His black and gold armour shone in the light cast inside the warehouse, but his braided black hair fell back past his shoulders.

"No! I won't" Screamed the ferocious voice, a shuffling sound echoed the warehouse and Damien sensed that it was papers being tossed from a desk.

"Luc, I won't ask you again, stand down!"

Shit, Damien thought as he walked closer to the ruckus, its Luc...

Once Damien turned around a blocking pillar, he entered the war room of the warehouse. The war room was part of a section in the warehouse that was covered with bookshelves lining around the center table, which had a map of New York and little pins marking checkpoints and security posts all around it. It was a simple, clean room that was smartly organized by Brook, but suddenly as Damien entered the section, papers and scrolls were scattered around the floor in a heaping mess. Luc must have caught news of what happened and destroyed the place out of anger and frustration.

Luc screamed out a loud roar that Damien never knew a Fox could ever do and slammed his clenched fist on the wooden table, the little pins that marked the map bounced from the impact and rolled out of place, some even falling to the ground. Everyone was in the war room by the looks of it, the day shift teams were all surrounding Luc and Brook while the night shift people carried out their patrols outside.

"My brother is dead by your order! His death is on you, and I won't forget that! The next time you find yourself facing off against a group of Eternal warriors, don't expect me to be the one saving you sorry fucking ass!" Luc spat each word out with anger and got into the Generals personal space, an accusing finger pointed directly in his face.

He was finished though, growling his frustration he spun on his heels and turned to leave the war room, until that is... he came face to face with Damien...

Shit...

"Oh," He started slowly, his voice cold and harsh but his eyes had the worst of it, "look who it is, the one who watched my brother bleed to death and die..."

Bleed to death?

"Oh..." He growled more and got closer into the Tigers face, "You didn't know he was alive when he fell fifteen floors? That he landed on some trash bags? That he laid there, gasping and wheezing his own blood? Oh I'm sorry, I thought you knew that!" Luc roughly shoved Damien out of his way and stormed off with a heavy stomp, slamming the warehouse door behind him.

Damien stood shocked but knew he had to keep it together, at least in front of Brook. He was alive! Damien could have saved him... suddenly he was feeling worse about not saving him when he could have.

"Damien," Brook sighed after staring at the ground hard with his emerald eyes, bringing them to meet the Tigers yellow ones.

But Damien raised his hands up, "Hey, its okay, don't worry about me... I'll go talk to him."

"Probably not a good idea, when he's mad he's not in his right state of mind." Replied Brook lowly, leaning against the table and peering up at the Tiger with stern eyes. Being a leader sure had to be hard, and when Damien saw those eyes he could almost see the age in them as well, Brook was probably about in his fifties, but that was just an educated guess on the Tigers part. For all he knew, the broad Horse could have been in his early forties.

"Yeah, but are you sure you want him to wander out there?" He pointed his thumb over his shoulder toward the back entrance of the warehouse, "For all we know he might go and break stuff with all that anger and rage built up right now. He might black out, even, do something stupid."

And Damien didn't need to handle two stupid people in one night...

Brook sighed and cupped his snout in his hands, squeezing his eyes shut and focusing on the silence in the room, by the time he inhaled again, he opened his eyes and pushed off the table surface. Taking a few steps to a book shelf with his hands behind his back he considered, "Alright, go and try to bring him back in one piece. Shouldn't be too hard to find him, at least, not after what happened."

He had a point; where else would an older brother go if he just lost his brother to a group of Eternal warriors?

Damien nodded and spun on his heels, sprinting off to find the Fox.

When brook turned around the Tiger was gone. But everyone in the base was looking in his direction with confused and wide eyes, some even frightened. The General cleared his throat and looked around, the space around the table was a mess with papers and utensils spread around the room after Luc's episode.

Standing tall, Brook sighed and spoke loudly, "Somebody clean this up."

The portal opened with a gush of wind blowing over the water, the breeze strong enough to make the sparkling water swoosh violently at the ground walls and erode pieces of gravel and rock and grass. The bright circular, untamed sparkling portal started with a loud thundering crack, which warned the others around the lake that the Gateway was opening, and then grew rapidly into a giant opening, its bluish green colors shining brighter than a thousand candles rowed together. Guards had readied themselves at this point around the edges of the circle, in case an intruder breaks through, and held their swords and spears pointed at the entrance. But when the person walked through the portal, they knew it wasn't an intruder.

The slow pace was rather annoying to Garock as the Rat slowly made his way through the portal with his guards behind him, it made his pointed ears twitch with every foot slide. But he had patience. He never believed in rushing anyone when they came back with news, the feel of suspense in his stomach was the one rush he loved to have every time, and the suspense he had right now was surely a pleasant rush. As they finally stepped through the bluish green portal and listened as it zapped shut with a bright glinting white star, that's when the Rat slid his way across the grassy distance between them and closed it quickly.

"Sire," Humphrey said with a polite old voice, kneeling down before the white broad shouldered Saber-toothed Tiger, who had his back facing towards the Rat, "The job is done..."

Garock smirked his toothy grin and chuckled a low dark laugh, his purple eyes glowing suddenly from the laughing and his pupils turning sharply to slits, "Good," He said slowly, "You've done well, my loyal servant."

This made Humphreys ears and tail twitch in happiness, but he learned to control that emotion when around Garock. He knew of his random mood swings. One second he would be happy and want to hug you tight for your accomplishment, but in a nanosecond he could change his attitude to a cold hearted demon, which scared the Rat severely.

"And you're sure they understood the message?" He asked slowly, his long tail writhing like a snake slithering through a grass field. It was mesmerising enough for anyone to get distracted by it.

Humphrey shook his head a little, "Yes, sire, the message has been received."

"Did you kill one of them like I asked?" He responded quickly.

"Yes, in front of their two top soldiers, my lord."

"Two?" His attitude changed and he spun around a bit to look Humphrey in the eyes, the slit pupils searing dark holes into his body that it hurt to even look into them. The Rat suddenly felt an empty feeling inside his body as he stared into his eyes, the dark affect seeming to be taking over Humphrey in some way it hypnotized him a little. He was confused, scared, and alone.

He had to look away, and when he finally did, he responded in a stutter, "I-it was the best we could do."

"I suppose the message was still delivered to the rest of them." He said simply and continued his stare into the forest, "Next time I expect better..."

"Yes... My lord..." Humphrey sighed and stood, his muscles relaxing a little but not a lot when he was around the Saber.

"Did you get any leads on their Gateway?" He asked randomly that it caught the Rat off guard.

"Uh, no my lord, not yet... But we are still working to finding it." Replied the shaky voiced Rat as he felt his muscles tensing again, keeping his gaze toward the ground in case those purple eyes decided to turn again.

"Good, keep on it." He said simply, "I wouldn't want to lose another loyal servant for failing me again..."

"Skylar, go back to bed buddy," Kevin said as he struggled to get those words out with a happy calm voice, "Daddy's just playing. I'll meet you in a minute." He smiled and Skylar seemed to not buy it for a second.

Demetrius froze and looked at the little boy standing in front of them, the wide little eyes curious with what they were doing but he didn't seem too frightened by who he was looking at. He just stood there holding his teddy bear in his small yellow pajamas that had little horse designs. He almost wanted to smirk at the thought of Brook being resorted in the Human world as just a weak--cute--horse design for children clothes.

"Daddy..." He said again, his eyes locked on Demetrius, though he wasn't sure if he was dreaming the whole thing or not.

"Skylar, were just playing..." He said in his fatherly voice to calm his son, hiding the pain in his face that was resonating in his arms that were locked. "Right, Demetri?" He choked those words out, like as if he just tried to sound happy, but the coldness was still hinting.

Demetrius' ears twitched at that name and his heart felt punched by an invisible force, but he pretended to ignore it and smile, releasing Kevin and getting off him immediately. "Right... we're just playing." He held a hand to the Human on the floor, but Kevin didn't take it, standing up.

"C'mon, Sky, let's get you to bed." He said after wiping his clothes from the dust, but Skylar shook his head and pointed at the Husky, who tensed.

"Husky!" He said, "Husky man!" He smiled and by the gods that smile was as if it was a reflection of Kevin, but as a kid. That made the Husky feel like the invisible punch was more like an invisible tidal wave, sweeping him off his.

Kevin was confused and looked at the Husky, then back at his son, "Husky man?" Skylar's reaction was what actually confused his father. At first he had fear built up in his eyes that it looked like he was ready to scream, then a sudden shift to happiness? Then a piece suddenly clicked in his brain and snapped into place like a puzzle fitting in its rightful spot. Husky man... Husky man... Husky man!

From his drawings!

No... Not just that, something else was not fitting right... there was another piece of that puzzle he forgot about... but what!?

"You came!" He said with a bright smile, "He promised!"

Promise...? What?

Demetrius sighed and his ears fell to the side of his head, "Damn it..." He growled, "He remembered..."

"What?" Kevin snapped back immediately, "Remembered what? What did you do to my son!?"

Demetrius' ears twitched and fell back suddenly and were hurt by that remark he made towards him. How could he just accuse the Husky of harming his son? What happened to Kevin? "Nothing," Demetrius said softly.

Kevin's nostrils flared in anger but he kept it bottled, not wanting to make another scene in front of his son. But he just stared those eyes into the Husky's for a while till he tensed and looked down at Skylar, who kept smirking at Demetrius like a maniac. At least being a kid and seeing someone from his dreams was awesome, to Kevin, it was almost a living nightmare. Demetrius wanted to know what Kevin was thinking, what was going through his mind at this moment and before they started their little fight with sharp objects. He sensed fear, that was a given, but for some reason he suspected confusion and denial in those eyes too. Kevin may be 26 years old, but his expressions never changed since 10 years ago, he knew these expressions for sure. Remembered them. Learned them. Memorized them.

Kevin shivered and knelt down to pick up his son, grunting in the process. He was getting heavier by the day. "Come on, Sky, let's get you to bed." He attempted to keep his voice happy and calm, but to the Husky's ears he could sense right through it all. He was angry and annoyed. Something Demetrius wasn't expecting to see when he pictured himself showing his face for the first time since Kevin died in Arella. So far, Demetrius thought, coming here may have been a terrible idea. Damian was right, Kevin may have moved on...

"Uh, need any help?" The Husky stepped forward and attempted to move but suddenly froze in his tracks, feeling as if a force field built itself in front of him so the gap between them was freeing Kevin from the intruder in his home.

Intruder...? Demetrius wasn't an intruder! He was Kevin's ex-fiancé from 10 years ago! They loved each other once, so why is everything changing? Could Kevin really move on like this? After he promised to the Husky before he died? He said it! "Promise..." Was the word out of his mouth, Demetrius could never forget that moment when he held the human in his arms for the last time before drawing his last breath. He cried every night in his bed, hugging a pillow tightly and trying his best to either forget him or imagine the soft pillow was Kevin. He didn't know which part was sadder. For years he had to live his life like a regular person, but each time he took a step it was as if his soul was dying more on the inside. He needed Kevin to be with him to make him smile when he woke up in the morning, to be happy with his life. He even imagined what it would be like when he finally showed his face to Kevin when they finally got back together, how Kevin would smile brightly with tears in both their eyes, running and hugging each other until they fell down and laughed.

This though, wasn't how he planned. And now everything he truly ever wanted was now a shattered dream.

Kevin returned finally, slowly walking into the living room and noticing something blinking in his hands, a small rectangular light. That's when he heard the sounds on the street outside, aside from the car horns and tires splashing the puddles down below.

Sirens.

Police sirens.

"You didn't..." Demetrius whined lightly now as he respected the environment of a sleeping child was in the next room.

"You have 4 minutes to leave." He responded coldly and locked his iPhone, dropping it back into his pocket and crossing his arms.

Demetrius felt the familiar tears swell up in his eyes and his throat tighten, these were familiar to him, as he cried for so long, "So that's it then..." He choked out softly, almost loud enough for Kevin to hear, "We're over..."

"3 minutes..."

Demetrius heard the sirens get louder, "Don't you want to know how we even got here in your world?"

Kevin heard the key word in Demetrius' sentence, "We?"

"Yes," The Husky whined sadly, "Arella warriors... we're trying to protect your world."

"Why?" Kevin responded quickly than he had to, the anticipation of the sirens getting close signalling to both of them that this conversation had to be quick.

"To save your race from being killed off..."

"Killed off?"

"Yes, there are bad people, Kevin..." He stepped forward, but the Human stepped back to keep the distance between them, "There's going to be a war to save your race..."

"How did you even get here? Who are the bad people?" So many questions, and yet Kevin now saw the blue and red flashers getting brighter outside his balcony doors.

"A Gateway. We found a Gateway to your world, and so have they. The Eternal Soldiers."

Eternal soldiers?

"How?" Asked Kevin, they had to be out of time by now as the bright flashing lights were bright and glowing, staying in one spot now. The cops may have pulled up.

Demetrius hesitated and sighed, knowing that giving out this information was vital but for some reason, having this long of a conversation with the Human was a start for him to talk another time, "Your son, Kevin, your son is our Gateway..."

Kevin froze and almost lost his balance, now his son is involved in something? "What..."

"Look I know this sounds crazy but Kevin, we're protecting your son, and I won't let anyone--" There was a pounding knock on the door, followed by a "Police! Open up."

When Kevin glanced at the door, he noticed the two shadows hovering in the light under the door, and when he looked back towards the Husky, he was suddenly greeted with nothing...

He was gone. The balcony door left slid open and the cool breeze swept in quickly...

"We're coming in!"
