This is one of my major stories I have been working on for a while. I would like to make a part 3 and maybe even 4 but I am currently stuck in a writers block kinda mood as of late so I'm not sure when I'll get around to doing more parts.

Death in a Business Suit

I sat there drinking my cup of coffee, it was an average day but the weather was nice. There was a warm breeze that blew away the cold every so often. I was wearing my black and gray pin stripe suit with a gray undershirt that matched the stripes on the suit. I had my legs crossed and my jet black shoes gleamed in the sun light as my wolf tail gently swayed in the breeze. Suddenly the breeze picked up blew my black and white fedora off my head; I sighed and got up to grab it. I was waiting for a bus and I wasn't going to miss it!

Before I go any further I suppose you might be wondering about a little back story or as to why a wolf that of whom should have no concept of the English language that much less an ability to write his life story, well I suppose I should fill you all in....but how far back should I go. Well I guess it started around the 2030, scientists had invented a way to combine the human and animal gene. People could now have animal features or be full blown anthromorphic animals. As you can expect they opened up clinics and lots of people flocked and the company grew. Soon the company grew into a huge corporation with clinics all over the world.

Now I come from a full breed of wolves because a tribe of Native Americans had had the tribe transformed into wolfs to be more like their wolf God. Now as It turns out the animal gene is dominate so the more people of the tribe matted the more and more they lost their human genes. Soon they became pure wolf, and not just wolves, foxes, dogs, cats, birds, and all the animals you can think of, now there is a mixed society of animals, humans, and mixes. But now its common place and no one gives it second thought.

I think I was born May 14 2125, almost a hundred years after the phenomenon happened, I was one of the first pure breed after the human genes became diluted and vanished. I grew up on the reservation and had a normal upbringing; my tribe was big on naming us more traditional names with a mix of modern names as well, and because of a hereditary trait everyone in my family has an eye that's part red that resembles a crescent moon, which how I get my name Jessie Red Moon.

My life's story isn't much, I joined the Military at eighteen and stayed in for the minimum eight years then left, I didn't hate it, it was fun but it just wasn't for me so I left to peruse a different career. Along my high school career I learned I had a thing for numbers and decided to be a stock broker and make bank. I was rich at the age of twenty seven and loving life, in two short years I had become part of the upper class. I was on top, going to parties, getting drunk, knocking women up left and right, but that was almost one hundred years ago, I'm still rich but I have quite a different outlook on life.

Well life has a schedule and we're all a part of it no matter what happens, and life had decided it had room to throw my quite a curve ball. People are creatures of habit, it just really depends on what scale and I had a major habit of walking down the same street to work every day, buying the same cup of coffee, and eating the same bagel. This habit is what eventually resulted in my permanent occupation change that at first irked me but I grew into it.

While on my daily walk I got my coffee and bagel, then I headed down the alley that would bring me out in front of the office I worked at. There was a scaffold that I walked past and didn't really give much thought to, the workers were fixing some of the pipes and were lowering some of them down when a cable snapped send the pipes plummeting towards earth. The first pipe slammed the ground right in front of me and made me stop dead in my tracks. I looked up just in time to jump out of the way of another falling pipe, I landed on the ground face first and rolled over to see some poor guy had been impaled by one of the pipes that had fallen, he was stuck in the lower back and one lay by his head which must have been the fatal blow. I knew that poor basterd was dead because he wasn't breathing, and I sat there and stared at him.

But the more I stared the more the guy looked familiar, he was wearing a suit just like mine but he might have shopped at the same store I did. There was a Styrofoam coffee cup next to him which was the exact one I had, there was also a half eaten bagel that was the same kind I ate. I was starting to wonder who that guy was so I got up and walked over to him, when I got to him there were construction works climbing down the scaffolding to see if they could help but I yelled to them

"He's dead guys" but they seemed to ignore me and they got to the body. They started to see if there was any hope of saving him but once they rolled him over my blood ran cold

"N-n-no NO! Tha -that can't be, th -theres no way!" sadly it was, the person who lay there dead on the cold hard concrete seemed so familiar because the person was me. My mind raced about with thoughts on what was going to happen, was I going to heaven or hell, was I a ghost or was I in limbo? Suddenly someone tapped me on the shoulder; I spun around to see a human construction worker looking at me. The man was shorter than me; the top of his head just barely reached my chin

"Hello sir" he said "are you...Jessie Red Moon?"

"Y-yes I am" I said sounding puzzled

"Ah very good" he smiled and grabbed a piece of paper from his pocket and scribbled on it, then suddenly it burst into flames and vanished.

"Hi there, the names Douglas Ivanovo, but mist just call me Doug" he stuck his hand out waiting for me to shake it, I reached out and shook his hand

"Nice to uh meet you" his shake was firm and hearty while mine was lose and limp "I see you're still in a bit of shock, don't worry it happens to everyone once they find out that they've died" my heart sank

"I'm...I'm dead?!" I was dumb founded; I was hoping this was a bad dream and that I'd wake up in a cold sweat learning some kind of a lesson. But such was not the case when I saw Doug grab a hammer from his work belt and he swung it. As he swung he ripped a hole in the air, it looked like someone had torn a hole those giant screens you see in movie theaters. The hole lit up as I saw green and black swirl in the hole.

"Ok Mr. Mo-" I cut him off

"It's Red Moon" I corrected him

"...I'm sorry I thought Red was your middle name, Mr. Red Moon if you would please step through the portal we can continue on with your out process and move things along" I looked at the portal, then back at him. I took a deep breath and stepped into it suddenly I felt like I was on a roller coaster just as it took off, but as quickly as it started it stopped and I found myself looking at a huge lobby of what I guessed was a corporate office.

"Where am I" I stood up looking around, there were so many people walking around, the lobby was filled with all kinds of people and some walking skeletons.

"You sir are at processing for souls" he said with glee as he led me to a center column with 10 people at desks surrounding the column, there was a female fox, who looked to be about twenty five, that was wearing a light blue button up shirt with a head set on. Once she looked up and saw us she waved us over and smiled at Doug

"Well well back from the hunt eh?" she said in a joking manner

"Actual this one found me, isn't that right?" he said as the fox turned to me

"I er no, well I uh" I don't really like meeting new people and I had a hard time explaining myself to her

"Ah I see he's still taking it all in" she looked at Doug, and he shrugged

"He seemed fine a minute ago, maybe he's taking you in" he laughed as she threw a pencil eraser at him

"Hey be nice to the new guy, the last guy you brought here nearly lost his lunch when you showed him around" she looked back at me "please forgive him honey, Douglas has got an odd sense of humor when it come to new guys" she smiled sweetly

"Careful Sally, if you're too nice to him he start humping your leg" Doug grinned, I hadn't given much thought to it but Sally was pretty cute and I wouldn't have minded shagging her but I blushed a bit at the humping her leg part. Doug ducked to avoid another pencil eraser

"Knock it off" shouted Sally "stop embarrassing the cute new people every time you bring them here!"

"I'll make a mental note" he smiled "alright FNG let take you to see the boss" he led me towards an elevator, I turned back and waved to Sally as we reached the elevator door, Doug stared at the directory on the wall above a keypad

"Let's see here....ah ha number five three two one six" Doug smiled as he pushed the numbers in, the doors didn't open but instead a portal opened up in front of the doors

"Hey, Doug" I said and he looked over at me

"Yes?" he said with a "what do you want" kind of tone, I think I was starting to irritate him

"Who are we meeting?" I asked

"Death" he told me as he pushed me through the portal to fates unknown.
