You Haven't Learned (Short Story)
She said "Do you love me..?" cold words escaping her freezing breathe as she let her paws explore the radius of his chest.
He said "No.." Shivering from the chills her words brought into his ear.
She said "Why don't you..?" More in a playful tone, as if she suspected the answer he gave her.
He said "Because theres someone else.. Someone who isn't you" A slight sense of anger in his tone, but he made no attempt to stop her.
She said "This girl.. someone you care about, someone you.. love?" Her tongue carassing her lips as her paws slowl gripped down on his pants, the heat in the room being turned up.
He said "More than anything" reaching into his pocket and pulling out a small decorated box, inside, an expensive looking engagement ring. "But I can't commit" starting to turn his head from the shining jewelry.
She said "Aww why not?" Wrapping one leg around the front his waist and the other on the back, her arm slung around his shoulder staring, turn his head to face her as she looked deep past his eyes.
He said "Because I can't remain faithful.." the last word of the night before he set aside his feelings for the other for the time being and kissed her, falling backwards onto the bed. The lights went out and the mistakes were made. The other will never know of her lover's unfaithfulness, but he doesn't plan to give her any insight. They continued dating, but he never gave her the ring, knowing he wasn't ready to combine their life, problems, and trust together, not when hes still burdened with the little white lies that turned black.
