--Chapter 2-- Selene stood in front of a brail printer, secretly she had always hated these things. The noise they made was atrocious, it bothered the other people who worked near it, and worst of all it was so old and outdated that half the time it didn't work. But today things were different her mind was flooded with thoughts of how quickly Lucario had come around. The next day of training Selene watched as Amy and Lucario got along like they had been friends for years she even heard Lucario chuckle something she didn't think he was capable of. With every passing moment the two were becoming more and more like family to each other and there was a light in Lucario's eyes Selene had not seen in about six years. Lucario's friendly attitude however stopped with Amy, to everybody else he was still a rude, uncaring monster this was made clear when the next day after he came to her office. Amy was sitting in her chair at lunch listening to her radio when a fellow student stole her chocolate bar and ran back to his seat with it. He however did not get to enjoy his plundered treat for in an instant Lucario was in front of him and sent the boy sprawling with a force palm attack, the boy wasn't hurt just stunned but the message was clear, Amy was in Lucario's protection and he didn't care who he hurt. Selene returns to reality as the brail printer shuts off, she takes the sheets of tan paper and she ran her fingers delicately over the surface of each sheet. Everything printed out surprisingly enough and she smiled a bit, if Amy could really pull this off it would not only look good for her future but it would also reflect well upon the school where she acquired Lucario and maybe they could get the upgrades they so desperately need. After she had that thought she was filled with guilt, the Guide Pokemon School could do alright on its own this was Amy's deal and not something that the school should leech off of. Once she is done checking everything she goes and gets a few blank sheets of brail paper and goes to another room where Amy is sitting in front of brail typewriter with Lucario sitting on the floor next to her meditating. "Here is the exam you have to take just read it and put your answers on this sheet of paper" Selene helps Amy put a sheet of paper in the brail typewriter that's in front of her. "Good luck Amy." She leaves the room shutting the door behind her. Selene returns to her office and sits behind her desk and examines the pokeballs on her desk and remembers her brief attempt at the Pokemon League which ended with her getting Lucario and starting up the school. An hour goes by and there is a knock at her door. She gets up and answers it, Lucario hands the papers to her and stares at her with his piercing red eyes. "I trust once you have graded this you will tell Amy before mailing this out." From the tone of his voice its not a question it's a statement almost border lining on an order. Selene just smiles. "Don't worry I wouldn't think of forgetting about her." She shuts the door and sits at her desk. She scans the papers and uses her computer to turn brail into words and she begins grading the paper, with every question she checks her pulse increases. "Can this be happening?" she finishes and tallies the answers. "My god..." She collects herself as best as she can and goes to Amy's room. She enters the room to find Amy munching on one of Lucario's apples. "I have your test results here Amy." Amy looks up excitedly. "You do? What did I score? I hope I did well." She stands up bouncing on her feet a bit. Selene takes a calming breath and smiles. "You got a perfect score, 100%" Amy jumps up and down cheering and then she tackles Lucario hugging him and babbling about her score. Selene leaves to mail the results to the proper offices. She stares down at the 100 on the paper, she has never met anyone outside a Pokemon professor able to get a score like this, Amy was going to do great things Selene was sure of it. Lucario finally gets Amy to sit down and he pats her head. "You have done well I am sure your parents will be very pleased when you return to them." He smiles, "The aura is with you." Amy looks confused. "The aura, what is aura?" Lucario takes her hand in his paw and it glows with blue light and Amy feels a very gentle warmth there. She recoils a bit but Lucario holds her hand keeping her calm. "Aura is within every living thing and with training and meditation it can be controlled and used to find others and fight against threats. But it takes a long time to gain such skills. Besides, your talent lies in the Pokemon league." For the next month Lucario and Amy learn to work together and soon they work as a flawless team and Amy is soon going all over Manhattan with Lucario's help. Finally the last day of school comes and everybody is packing up. Selene however is entering her office with some Chinese food. Lucario is waiting for her in his usual spot. Selene smiles at him and holds out the steamed rice and chopsticks. "I brought you your favorite." "Fool. You brought it because I told you to do so." Lucario snatches the food from her but this time he smiles at her. "I am very proud of you Lucario and I am sure Jonathon would be too if he was here to know, but if you go to the Pokemon League you may see him there." Lucario nods and his eyes glow gold for a brief moment looking forward to a battle with his former trainer. For the rest of meal they just eat in silence. The next morning Lucario and Selene share one final hug and Selene hands Lucario a green vest that has the logo of the Guide Pokemon School on the back. "Jonathon made this when the school opened he said to give it to you when you left the school." Selene tears up a bit as she talks and even Lucario looks a bit sad himself and they share one last hug. "Now go and help Amy she needs you now." Selene hands him the tickets that will take him and Amy home, Lucario takes the tickets and goes to find Amy. He helps her get her suitcase out to the front of the building and they take a bus to La Guardia Airport. After going through security Lucario finds the right plane and to his surprise he sees that he is on his way to San Diego, California. Eventually they get on a Boeing 747 airliner and get seated, Amy feels around for her radio and Lucario hands it to her, she smiles and puts on her headphones and begins listening to the Pokemon battle station. Lucario watches her for a few minutes then closes his own eyes after the jet is up in the air. He begins meditating which slowly turns into reminiscing about his old life with his former trainer and Selene. He is brought out of his memories by the voice of the captain telling everyone to buckle up and prepare to land, Lucario buckles himself in and checks Amy who is sleeping, he buckles her in gently and sits back stay alert this time so he can get Amy off the plane safely. Once the plane lands Lucario wakes up Amy and helps her off the plane and finds her stuff at baggage claim. "How are we going to find your parents?" Lucario makes sure Amy has a good hold on his arm. "They will see me because of my cane." She smiles and taps her cane on the floor a bit the rolling tip making a distinctive cracking sound on the floor then she giggles. Lucario smiles and they make their way to the entrance of the airport, but before they can get to the door a woman with black hair and brown eyes runs up to Amy and hugs her. "Mommy!" the woman smiles and holds Amy close. "It's so good to see you again sweetheart and is this the Pokemon that is helping you?" She looks up at Lucario with a grateful look in her eyes. "yeah this is Lucario he is a fighting/steel type but more than that he is my best friend!" She feels around trying to find Lucario's paw and Lucario takes her hand and smiles, he then lets go and kneels down before Amy's mother his right paw on his chest and bows his head. "It is a great honor to finally meet you ma'am Amy has told me all about you and I promise to do everything in my power to ensure her safety and happiness." Amy's mother looks surprised not only by the fact the Pokemon speaks English but rather the odd posture he is in like she is royalty or something but she just assumes it's just the Pokemon's way of doing things. "I am sure you will keep your promise, thank you Lucario." She leads them to the car watching with fascination as Lucario helps Amy around obstacles and keeps her from walking into things she might not have been able to find with her cane. Once they are in the car Amy buckles herself in. "Where is Daddy?" she has a hopeful look on her face but her mother's words make the look fade away "He is out of town again on a business trip but he sends his love and looks forward to seeing you again." Amy sighs and Lucario pats her head a bit. After driving for about fifteen minutes they are in a nice suburban neighborhood and the car stops in front of a two story house that overlooks the city. Amy's mother takes the suit case saying she will take care of it and Amy makes her way towards the house with Lucario at her side. Amy seems to know her way around her home until she walks right into table and falls over. Amy's mother runs over to her and helps her up. "Oh my god Amy I am so sorry I forgot to tell you I rearranged some furniture you might want to move a bit a slower ok?" Amy nods and with Lucario's help navigates the way to Amy's room, it is easy to spot her room because of the upside down poster of giant pokeball in the main stadium where the Pokemon League championship is held. The room itself is wall to wall Pokemon stuff but none of it is toys really. There are posters on all of the walls of different Pokemon and they have all their stats on them and someone has put brail labels next to every stat and the pictures are raised slightly so Amy can feel the general shape of each picture. Amy lays on her bed her pillow is a big pokeball and her blanket has Pichus and lightning bolts all over it. She reaches over to her nightstand and feels around and her hand finally rests on a radio and she turns it on and the Pokemon battle station begins playing, it seems that's all the little girl is interested in listening to and after a while Lucario understands why. Not only does it talk about battles all over the world all sorts of strategies and knowledge can be gained through listening to this station and Lucario gets the feeling Amy has memorized every new thing she hears or reads about. Over the next few weeks Lucario takes Amy all over San Diego, from the San Diego Zoo to Sea World and they have a wonderful time Amy seems more happy and alive than Lucario has ever seen her and if the truth were known he feels the same way. One evening Lucario is returning to Amy's home carrying some groceries that Amy's mother needed to make dinner, it was something Lucario did on occasion to help around the house. He spots an unfamiliar car in the driveway and his concern for Amy flares up a bit. He closes his eyes and looks into the house with the power of aura. Amy was alright she seemed to be hugging a man and Lucario could only assume this man was Amy's very busy father. Relaxing once more Lucario goes and gets the mail another little chore that seemed to give him some feeling a of satisfaction he wasn't sure why but he didn't bother meditating into that of all things. The top letter in the pile of mail has the seal of the Pokemon league on it its addressed to Amy this must be about her test scores, he smiles and enters the house. "And this must be the famous Lucario who has helped Amy out so much." Amy's father is a tall man and his blue eyes examine Lucario with a somewhat unfriendly gaze despite his kind words. Lucario nods and bows deciding to ignore the stare for now. He then hands Amy the letter. "This is for you Amy it's from the Pokemon League. Shall I read it to you?" While he talks he hands Amy's mother the rest of the mail and the groceries. With a nod from Amy he opens the letter and begins reading the long winded and overly complicated letter. "...In short we are taking special notice of your high score and we are admitting you to join the Pokemon League and all your travel and preparation expenses will be paid for by us." He looks down at Amy. "We are going to the Pokemon League in Kanto Japan." "No you are not." Amy's father snatches the letter away from Lucario. "We have had this discussion over a thousand times already you cannot compete. You have limitations and you have to accept that now go wash up dinner will be ready soon." He turns to go to the living room but Lucario snatches the letter from him and guides Amy to her room. She lies on the bed and begins crying, Lucario sighs, what in the world are they going to do now?
