The Pokemon league has been around for almost a century and with each new generation of trainers is a new style of battle and new Pokemon discovered. Despite its popularity and the general friendly welcoming atmosphere of the sport still some people are discouraged from participating. Those with a disability are discouraged from participating, sometimes those who discourage them are kind about it and other times they are blunt and hurtful. About six years ago a school was founded, its purpose to use Pokemon to help those who are blind, legally blind, or have some other physical disability, since its creation it has had great success and more schools are opening worldwide. What hasn't changed is the attitude of the Pokemon league in its idea those with a disability should not compete. But the fascinating thing about our world is that someone is always breaking through boundaries in life to greatness, and sometimes they don't do it alone. The doors the Guide Pokemon School located in Central Park West, New York City open. A woman with red hair steps out into the sunlight with a sigh, she looks down at clipboard in her hand and her heart rate increases a bit, she is always nervous when new students arrive it's always another chance her school will be shut down and all because of one hateful Pokemon. She walks down a few blocks and stops at a small Chinese restaurant and gets some steamed rice, vegetables, and some sweet and sour pork. She returns to the school and goes up to the 3rd floor of the somewhat cramped facility. She enters her office on her desk are a few pokeballs, photos, and a small silver mobility cane and a name plate that has her name stamped in the brass, Selene M. Johnson. Selene however looks to her right a Lucario is sitting on the floor eyeing her with a harsh stare that she has become used to. "I brought you your favorite" Selene smiles holds out the steamed rice and chopsticks to Lucario. "Fool. You brought it because I told you to do so." Lucario snatches the food from her and begins eating "another batch of weakling humans is coming?" Selene sighs trying to take his comments in stride. "They are not weaklings they are quite brave in all honesty to leave their homes to come here for a few months to learn to become more indepen-" Lucario cuts her off with a look. "What they are doing is coming here to get a permanent babysitter and that is all there is to it." Selene hesitates then stares Lucario down. "That is enough of that. You are going to be one the Pokemon up for selection, again, this time don't make them cry."

--Chapter 1-- The bus stops in front of the Manhattan Guide Pokemon School and about 24 children of varying ages get off. Some have mobility canes others don't but they have all come here for the same reason, to strike out into the world and live as normal a life as they can. The last child to get off if the bus a girl if about 11 she is totally blind, her deep black hair gleams in the sunlight and her blue eyes look around as though seeing a world that cannot be seen by those with sight. The children are escorted into the building by a few staff members and seated in a meeting room Selene is there with a nice suit on, a warm smile, and a clipboard in hand. Behind this warm façade she is terrified the last time Lucario was brought out he hurt a small child and made two others cry it almost got them sued but Selene managed to save them that trouble through many apologizes, long talks, and some harsh punishment for Lucario. Selene takes one last calming breath and begins her well rehearsed speech but even though it's a repeated action she still cares about those to whom she is talking to. "Welcome all of you to the Manhattan Guide Pokemon School. We look forward to helping start down the road of life with your new companions as they help you overcome the obstacles' in your path now remember you are not entering the Pokemon league so please try to avoid using your Pokemon for battles they know very few attacks their main purpose is to help you get around where you live safely and quickly." She stops and takes another breath. "Now you will each be called by name and I want you to stand up and a Pokemon will come to you this will be your partner further assistance if it is needed can be given just ask and we can help you with whatever you need." She smiles again and looks at her clipboard. "Kayla Long." A teenage girl stands up and an Eevee walks over to her with a nuzzle and cute face. Selene keeps going down the list with every name she calls out the more she is filled with terror Lucario is the last Pokemon on the list and she only hopes whoever gets him is old enough to handle his attitude. "and finally Amy Kibosaru." Her terror reaches its peak when the tiniest of the group a little eleven year old girl stands up her movements indicate she is completely blind. Lucario snarls and walks over to the little girl. She looks in his direction and smiles nervously. "He-hello there" she tries to sound brave. "If you cannot speak without stuttering do not speak at all" Lucario glares down at her but to his surprise she stares up at him their eyes meeting and she doesn't seem afraid but she nods. Selene tries to remain friendly as she finishes her speech. "Now your Pokemon will take you to your respective rooms your lessons will begin tomorrow at 8:30 A.M. so get some sleep." With a silent prayer she walks from the room and the Pokemon lead their new companions to their respective rooms. Amy stands up feeling with her cane. "Can you help me find my way please?" She reaches out in Lucario's general direction but he smacks her hand away. "Don't touch me you little urchin. I will touch you" he grabs her arm roughly and begins pulling her to the room where her clothes have been put away in drawers that have been labeled in large print and brail labels. Once they are inside Amy closes the door and feels around with her mobility cane until she finds the desk and she feels around its surface. Lucario watches her with mild interest now wondering how best to deal with this new nescience of a human. She finally picks up a small radio and headphones; she pushes a button labeled with brail and lies down on her bed putting on her headphones. After about two and half hours she falls asleep, Lucario eyes her then goes and takes the radio from her and pushes the same button on it and shuts off he puts it on the desk and looks back at her. She is shivering slightly in the cold air of the room. He rolls his eyes. "Pathetic little urchin you are." He pulls the blanket over her. "Let's see how long you last." He sits down and begins his nightly meditation. The morning sun shines gloriously over the many skyscrapers of Manhattan and the pools of water within central park gleam brilliantly with golden light. Amy is resting peacefully...until Lucario kicks the bed frame and she falls out of the bed. "Wake up urchin your training begins today!" He glares down at her. Amy gets out of bed and falls to the floor tangled and confused but she manages to get to her feet. Lucario barks another order at her but she ignores him and begins making her bed calmly. "I am talking to you, you little Urchin!" he raises a paw to strike her but she seems to pick up on this and she cowers slightly. "Mother and Father always tell me to make my bed. It's not well it's just..." she tries to babble an explanation. "What did I tell you before, if you cannot speak without stuttering don't talk at all." She stops talking but finishes making her bed. Lucario is becoming fascinated by this girl she seems to pick up more of what is happening around her than most blind people Lucario has interacted with in the past. He lowers his paw and she looks in his direction. "You aren't going to hit me are you?" She tries to remain brave even as her hands shake slightly. "That all depends and how you behave." He sighs this was going to be a long day for him. The morning went by slowly as Amy and Lucario learned how to work together to navigate around a series of cones and chairs in a large classroom. At first Lucario just tried to drag the girl around the room but she jerked her arm free looking indignant and when Lucario raised a paw to hit her she raised her little cane to defend herself. This however did not infuriate Lucario but rather it amused him she did seem to have more backbone than she did when they first met. The lessons went on and on until about 12:30 when Selene came in told them it was lunch time, staff members brought out little bagged lunches for the students and for the Pokemon varying foods depending on what they like to eat. Lucario snatches up his meal an apple and a chocolate bar and heads back to the chair where Amy is sitting he is surprised to see she has on her headphones again and listening to something on her little radio with a small smile on her face, she didn't say a word all lunch she just kept smiling. Once lunch is over the lessons begin again until dinner was ready at about 7:30. After that the children and their Pokemon are free to do as they please. This however does not apply to Amy, once dinner is finished Lucario drags her to the classroom and they begin practicing what they have learned until Selene made Lucario stop pushing the child so hard. They return to the room and Amy sits on her bed and turns on her radio. She is about to put on her headphones but Lucario stops her. "What are you listening to?" She hesitates for a moment. "It's nothing special." She puts on her headphones and Lucario's anger rises he hates being lied to, he grabs the wire of the headphones and pulls it free of the radio and the regular speaker begins going. "....Vaporeon delivers a powerful hydropump to Onix and... its super effective Onix is out for coun-" Amy hits the button on the radio shutting it off. "Gimme that back!" she weakly hits Lucario's arm and torso until he pushes her off but she still snatches away her headphones "Are you going to laugh too? Everybody else has!" Lucario is taken aback by this sudden aggression but more than anything he is confused and for a moment a bit of his buried pity comes into light as he puts his paws on her shoulders calming her. "Laugh about what? Why would I laugh about you listening to the Pokemon league?" Amy turns away from him. "Because I wanna become a trainer and prove I can just as good as any of those trainers who can see." Lucario's eyes widen and something clicks in his mind, This is the child that he was to lead this is what his former trainer meant when he said that Lucario would be destined to do a great thing. This little girl wasn't so different from him, the restraints of their environments didn't stop them from having big goals and for the first time, Lucario smiles and pats her head. "Do not be upset child. If that is what you really want than I will do all I can to prove to the world you can be a great trainer." Amy looks at him then she hugs him. It is the first time Lucario has ever been hugged in his life and he wasn't sure how to react but he was sure how it felt. It felt like the warm aura he surrounded himself with, it felt strong, and it made him happy. Slowly, hesitantly he returns the hug his movements very gentle as if the young girl were made of glass that would break if he was not careful. After a while Lucario lets go and stands up. "do not go anywhere I shall return." He pats her head and leaves the room shutting the door behind him. Lucario makes his way down to Selene's office where he knows she is working late. He enters her office without knocking and she looks up at with a sigh. "What is wrong now?" She braces for whatever onslaught of complaints the Pokemon has. "I want the trainer registration form printed out in brail for Amy." Selene blinks a few times trying to wrap her head around what she just heard. "Excuse me?" "I want the Pokemon trainer registration form printed out in brail for Amy" he looks very serious. "And whether or not you do as I have asked I am taking her to where her heart desires." Lucario's eyes glow gold.
