Changes. Chapter 1
An OC Tmnt story from episode 1- the end and beyond.
This story was originally what I had in mind. Before I started generations due to a friend request, I started that first. I'm going to hold off a little on that story and start on my original story. It's not the end of generations, just updates for that will be slower.
Disclaimer: I do not own tmnt or it's characters. Zero is the only character I own.
Chapter 1: a normal day... right.
Stockman electronics, zero sighed as he walked in, it was his first day working there for the first time. He walked through the building, and saw a redheaded woman. She was wearing a lab coat and had green eyes. Her hair was in bun and she was working at a computer in a corner. She looked at him "Oh... you must be the new guy, I'm April, April O'neil" she held out her hand. Zero shook it "Pleased to meet you April, I'm Zero Diiz" she looked at him oddly "That's... an odd name..." she said.
Zero laughed "Zero isn't my original name. It's just a name that stuck with me. My real name is Xercies" he said. she nodded "so, are your parents excited your working with THE Baxter Stockman?" she asked happily. Zero frowned "Sorry... I'm orphaned" he said. She looked shocked "I'm sorry... I didn't know..." she really didn't know what to say to him and he shrugged it off "it's ok, so then, where will I be working?" he asked, smiling.
After settling In a computer next to April, Zero looked at her "Is Mr. Stockman in at the moment?" he asked. He looked at the computer screen and sighed. She wasnt paying attention and he returned to his screen. He didn't like the most recent inventions, the mousers. He hated animal cruelty, period. He was glad he was only doing stock and accounting.
The day had gone without much success. The test on the mousers had come back with multiple missing. April looked suspicious and he didn't blame her, it was odd.
After it was closing time, stockman walked out of his office "don't stay up too late, I don't like paying overtime" he said as he walked out. Zero frowned "dick" he muttered under his breath as they headed to the man's office.
April began searching through the computer, finding nothing interesting besides a three toed foot symbol "never seen that icon before" April said as she clicked on it, and the bookcase opened "talk about cliche" zero said.
As they began their decent in the elevator, it was obviously larger than they imagined. "great, stockman is evil, and we're going towards his secret lair. I feel like I'm in a movie..." zero said.
They soon arrived and zero frowned "what in the world..." April said "well, that's just dandy..." the underground supply line was obviously making more mousers than was necessary. "I would guess that we're about to get caught" zero said as they passed the invisible laser, and headed to the control rooms. She soon ran to the computers and searched "I dont understand, the cities rat problem isn't that bad... wait, this is weird--"
She was cut off as stockman popped up "April, zero, fancy seeing you here" he said pretty casually. "this is so fucked up" zero said. "I'm sorry April, but I must lay you off the job. You too zero" "I'm fired?!" April asked "In... a manner of speaking" he showed hos hands from his back, he had a remote.
If the glass crashing want belief enough, two large mechanical claws shot at the two. Zero instinctively jumped, landing on the arm, and April got caught "Damn it!" zero said under his breath. He had taken parkour and martial arts. He wasnt bad at it, but as they plunged into the supply line, that was the cue that they were mouser food. He grabbed April, bringing her up and looked around "We need a way out, come on!" zero and April started running, april grabbed a fire extinguisher and started beating the things with it. One caught it and clamped down, creating a smokescreen for the two as they ran into the opening, leading into the sewer "Of course, new york's famous labyrinth sewer" zero muttered sarcastically.
They had been chased for awhile before being cornered in a border area. Zero looked at her as the mousers came closer, and jumped. Zero got ready, but never got tackled, metal on metal and metal on wood sounded out, the mousers laying broken and four shadow figures standing some ways away. April had tripped and got up "Thank you, oh thank you" one of the figures bent down and his head popped out of the shadows, a large turtle Roth an orange mask "Hiya there!" he said. April screamed bloody murder and fainted. Zero flinched at the sound "Didn't think she was a screamer" he said clearing out an ear.
The other figures stepped out. All large turtles. The other three had a red mask, a blue mask, and a purple mask "Mikey, you see what you did, she fainted" the red masked one said angrily in a Brooklyn accent. He slapped the turtle on orange "OW! Raph, don't do that, it was an accident!"
Zero laughed at this "Ok... now if you don't mind, she fainted, can you... uh... guys... give me a hand?" he asked. The orange one, Mikey picked her up "hey there dude, follow us, were going to take her to our home" zero nodded, an eyebrow raised. He followed them, soon arriving with them in some hexagonal space, glowing symbols and lights on the walls. TV's hooked together, a couch, a chair, a second story room area, a Japanese slide door in the middle room at the bottom floor.
He was amazed "Mikey, set her on the couch" the purple one said, and Mikey did as he was told.
Half an hour passed before April stirred. "what a dream" she said "Turtles fighting robots? Did I fall asleep watching TV again..." she looked up, where the four turtles were standing, zero in the middle of the four. She got frantic as she continued "That...was...the...weirdest thing... I've ever seem..." her voice was frantic. Mikey, being crazy, winked and went up to her "Hi" a second passed and she screamed, again, and Mikey screamed just as hard, barely avoiding a heart attack.
He backed up, hands out "please don't do that, I almost jumped out of my shell" he said, breathing hard. "it... has... three fingers..." she put the pillow on her head "I'm asleep, I'm asleep..." she kept repeating it "This isn't going very well" the purple banded one said. Zero couldn't agree more "A screamer and a skeptic" he said.
Mikey jumped in on the purple one "hey, come on, we don't have much practice talking to humans! It'll take a little time" April continued like a broken record "I'm so asleep" Mikey looked annoyed at that moment. He yawned "now she is making me sleepy"
Raph walked up to her and tapped her shoulder "Hey, you" she took the pillow off "Wwhat?" she asked "What do you know about those mouser robot things?" she hugged the pillow to her chest "well... at first I thought they were for cleaning up the cities rat problem...But then me and Zero here got suspicious on what doctor Stockman said and... Oh no... I'm talking to it" zero face palmed. "what?" the blue one asked "I'm talking to it, to you. April, you are talking to a giant, three fingered turtle. The only logical explanation is your dreaming. So everything is ok. Hello..." she waved at the blue one.
"Hello April... how are you... doing?" the blue one asked. "Oh, I'm fine, everything is absolutely great" she laughed, her mood changed suddenly flinched and a small yelp as a large rat walked up "Then perhaps you can answer us some questions." he put another hand on his walking stick and waited.
Zero raised an eye "I will need some answers as well" Zero said, the rat nodded showing he heard him. Something in April's mind clicked "Your a..." she fainted again "No scream, that's an improvement" Zero said.
The purple masked one looked at the rat "you sure have a way with the ladies Master Splinter" he said, zero stifled a laugh, but composed himself. Mikey snuck to a table and grabbed done headphones "what do we do now?" the purple one asked "let's nudge her" the blue one asked "I'll snap her out of it" splinter held up a hand "Rapheal, no" splinter said 'renaissance artist name, sweet' Zero thought.
"Well... somebody get me when she wakes up" Mikey said, sitting in a chair and put the headphones in, turning on music "lazy" Zero said. Everyone sat down and started introducing themselves, waiting for April to awaken once again.
Some time later raph went over to get Mikey "Heu Mikey, Hey earth to Mikey!" Mikey winced and took the headphones off "Ow, what?!" he asked. "She woke up, Master splinter made her some tea and she is ready to consider we Might be real" "Awesomely Radical Dude!" zero winced at that from a distance "I swear he must be some Australia born turtle" Zero said. "If you keep talking like that she will pass out again. " "HEY!"
After Raph returned they looked back at April who was drinking her tea. Mikey walked up after raph "So... you ok now?" Mikey asked. She nodded "Yes, thanks. I've decided that this is a very long dream I keep not waking up from, or it's the weirdest thing to ever happen to me" "Young woman, we have something most important to discuss" Splinter said. "like what?" she asked, confused "We have never revealed ourselves to the upper world. You and your friend have placed us all in great danger." Zero raised an eyebrow at that, "But master Splinter, they were in trouble and we helped her" the blue one, who had introduced himself as Leonardo or just Leo while April had fainted a second time. "Yeah, your always teaching us to do the right thing" raph said next. Splinter looked at him "as you grow older, you will see there are many ways to "do the right thing" your all only 19 Rapheal. But there is no going back I'm afraid and we are are your mercy" he bowed 'Oil' Zero thought. 'These guys think we're going to rat them out... ' "I can say your secret is safe with me. But I do know that I can't going back to my old house. My foster parents, which are more like two evil foes won't take my back since stockman pretty much fired me. I hope I can stay" he said.
April continued to think, silent in thought. Splinter nodded towards Zero. She looked up "Oh... I won't tell anybody, I mean... who would believe me anyway?" Donnie shrugged "She's got a point" Mikey flexed "yeah, we're unbelievable!" "Geeze where is your Off switch" raph said. "seriously, I promise" April and Zero said at the exact same time.
Splinter got up and walked closer, staring into her green eyes, then to my golden amber eyes "I believe you both" he said finally. Leo leaned in and whispered "is this another lesson master splinter?" she asked "how to sense the truth?" splinter looked at him "no, this is called trusting your gut" April stared at then and zero was laughing. He had taken a seat beside April. "So if I'm keeping your secret, what exactly is it? I mean who are you people... err turtles and... whatever"
Splinter had taken a seat on the floor in lotus position "I have memories" he began telling the two about how they came to be. Four turtles and a pet rat, the Mutagen from which was labeled TCRI.
"and they are... Leonardo, Donatello, Rapheal, and... Michelangelo. Together they are--" all four turtles high threed "turtles forever!" they said, zero chuckled at them, he was more interested in Rapheal though. "see how we all yell at once?" Mikey asked, raph sat between Zero and April "First rule, ignore Mikey, your life would be better if you do" he said. Zero looked at raph "So we have remained in secret, and that is our story" he got up, and April started "But, how did you know martial arts?" the rat sighed "that is a story, for another time." "Hey guys, look at this" a news report about a bank Robert was on. The inside if the vault laid in ruins, robot foot marks seen "So... anyone want to guess what did this?" he asked.
April got up, but raph stayed on the couch for who knows what reason. "this must be what Dr. Stockman was talking about. " she turned around, pissed "He's got the mousers robbing Banks!" she said. Zero sighed "a Rich genius after money, shouldn't say I'm surprised" zero said. "What do you know about this Stockman guy?" raph asked from beside Zero. "He's a genius, and he's also Nuts" sue out a hand on her shoulder, zero looked at her sympathetically, he felt bad about her. "Me and Zero used to work for him, after we got suspicious, The bastard turned the mousers on us. Luckily, we ran into you guys" "So he destroyed our old lair" Leo said
"Must have been one of his mouser test runs" "but that was our home" Mikey said "Now he has graduated to banks!" Don said "Then what are you waiting for? I say we shut down mouser central, permanently" he drew and crossed his sai for effect 'hotheaded and passionate, interesting' Zero thought "I just love those action movie lines" Mikey said to April, laughing "do you write those yourself?". April put her hand to her chin "it wont be easy, stocktronics is rigged with the latest up to the minute security tech" Mikey put his hands on Donnie "Brong it on, allow me to introduce our own secret weapon. The techno turtle himself . DONATELLO!" he dragged the name out. "that seriously gets annoying" Zero said to raph "Tell me about it?" raph answered back. "can we go, NOW?" he asked, seething some "Please?"
Zero and April led them to where they had ran out of the factory. She held up a hand and shoos he'd then, pointing to a disc, zero and April passed under it and Donnie opened it, messing with the wires "alarm systems in the sewers? Is this guy paranoid or what?" raph looked at him "keep it down Mikey" "just saying." Donnie looked back "could April and I have some quiet? This is defiantly fragile work."
"Ooh, April and I, delicate work" he made computer typing hand motions "give me a break." he crossed his arms.
Soon they were inside the duct systems, raph opened a panel "there is a security terminal" April pointed to a door infringing of them. "I can create blind spots in the security system to get you guys to the main lab" she said. Raph made a Mikey joke and zero sighed "I'm coming with you four, but I don't have a weapon" he said.
Raph nodded and jumped out, landing silently and helping April out. Zero jumped out and rolled, making no noise "Parkour" he explained. The door was locked so Raph used a sai and picked the lock. Soon April Raph and Donnie were inside, April sat at a terminal and began typing away. Soon she had blinded the cameras and told them that they have a clear path. "well be right back" they all ran out silently, zero as well before she turned to give then a good luck.
They were running down the corridor, zero easily kept up since he was used to this. They arrived and a hatch opened "this is too quiet..." Leo said as they walked in. Zero picked up a metal pole and spin it experimentally. Good weight and an an excellent length. "umm Guys? My turtle sense is tingling" 'he reads too many comic books' zero thought. The door closed suddenly, the intercom went up "Intruders, here to steal MY secret Genius? You will leave here with nothing, NOTHING! You won't even leave here alive" mechanical arms started moving and aiming at them 'not good' zero thought.
Everyone scattered as lasers shot at them, zero jumped off the wall and swung the pole, smashing one of the lasers, only to dodge another.
Mikey had to break dance to avoid two lasers, raph ran with two lasers on his tail, Leo hid in the shadows of a column.
A flash of steel and the lasers blasted back at the arms, exploding them. Leo had used his swords. Donnie pole vaulted, clinging to an arm and pointing it at multiple, destroying them. Raph and Leo cheered as don pulled out some wiring. He jumped as it overload and exploded.
Lasers continued to fire at them "Mikey, slingshot" Mikey ran to raph as he vaulted the turtles to the control center. Stockman backed in surprise a smiley broke the glass. Soon the four turtles and Zero were standing there "your rain of terror is over, stockman" leo said as he pointed the blade towards the doctor. "you been practicing that?" Mikey asked "ah yes" Leo answers.
"what are you? And Zero? Your alive?" the elevator opened and April walked out. "their with me" she said "April, your... also alive." "and kicking. I have enough evidence to put you away for years doctor Stockman" she said. He pushed a button before raph grabbed the collar of his shirt. "that's enough!" "Too late, I already called the mousers back from their latest mission, they'll be here any second. They'll tear you all into pieces" April ran to the computer. Stockman looked insane, the facial expression stuck on his face.
"I'll have to shut the whole system down" April said. "I'll help you" don said, joining her at the computer. "your doomed, listen" the door opened and mousers started walking through. They started up the latter to the control room "April, noes the time." Leo said "Uhh...the system isn't responding" Donnie was typing away as well, stockman backed into the elevator "you should have never matched wits with me" he said as the elevator door closed. "let him go, we got bigger problems" everyone standing drew their weapons as the mousers marched. Mousers flooded "well, it's been fun guys" Raph said "even me Raph?" Mikey asked "even you, especially you Mikey" Raph said.
The mousers suddenly stopped, April had done the right thing. "guys, I couldn't shut then down, I had to initiate an overload sequence" that was the cue for everyone to run like the devil was on their heels. "In other words... LET'S GET OUT OF HERE!!!" Mikey yelled, everyone scrambled, jumping through the hole in the wall. Raph had grabbed April and jumped down with them. They scrambled to the door as fast as they could. Then everything was in fire as the room exploded.
Down in the lair, everyone was watching the news. Stocktronics was destroyed and Stockman missing.
"What will you do now, Ms. O'neill?Your most defiantly out of a job" he said. She sighed "I'm not exactly sure guys" she said when Donnie pipped up "We'll help you get back on your feet" Donnie said "You guys, you've all been Great! And by guys, I guess I mean four large green talking turtles... and a giant talking rat" she put a hand on splinters shoulder. "Don't forget me now" Zero said, he was standing beside Rapheal and smiled "it seems I'm joining these guys. I have parkour and martial arts under my belt, so I should be of some help" he said. Everyone picked up a cup "Here's to the new team!" Donnie said as everyone clanged the cups together. Everyone cheered as they drank.
After the little party the two were given guest rooms to sleep in. Zero was going to get his own room soon, but this was just temporary. His mind kept traveling to raph "huh, wonder what this feeling for raph is... could just be nothing, or it could be that I just admire him or something" he said.
He had sat there for some time before drifting off to sleep.
