#3 of The Howling

The Hyena fell to the ground, beaten and worn by the incessance of blind beatings upon his fur, and state of mind. His eyes felt over the scene, like his paws to the first touch of the cold concrete as they finally had the freedom to move again. His wings ached in pain from the tension the ropes had forced into them, and the relief of freedom that washed through him seemed to run parallel to the soreness within.

He brought his eyes up over the scene, even his eyelids crying out in resistance to his concious effort after his trial. He found a pool of blood meeting his gaze, pooling upon the floor next to the head of a panther upon the ground, and to greater shock, a fox lying face up, bleeding from the chest and back, respiring in shallow and fading breath. The bracelet upon the fox's bicep shimmered in the spot lighting he lay under, and the Hyena instantly recognized that shimmer -- the same one that had seemed to follow him as he was taken from his freedom and into the underbelly of his captors. He crawled his way over to the fox, in quick and unsteady motion, his muscles and joints just awakening after being in the dark for so long.

As he did so, his ears perked as a noise from the door caught him. He instantly turned and looked to the door, still on all fours, feathering out his wings in an instinctive warning to any crossing his path. In the doorway stood a civet, panting heavily and holding his chest, giving the appearance that some unforeseen force had kicked him down the stairs.

The civet's eyes grew wide as he looked just over his drooping sunglasses at the scene, especially fixated on the panther upon the floor.

The Hyena instantly arose to his hindpaws, his wings now fanning wide, and as he spoke, his exhaustion could be heard in his voice.

"Did you do this?" he attempted to stifle the exhaustion in his voice, but it could easily be heard in his words.

"Hey, I was just passing by. I heard gunshots and I came running. what the hell happened here?" The civet began to move his way across the room, cautiously, as if he was ready to defend himself.

The hyena's head was spinning as he stood upright, rampant thoughts ran through him like scavengers, stealing away bits and pieces of concentration like parasites until there was nearly nothing left. His thoughts managed to regroup enough for a prime prerogative. "You have to help me get out of here. Now."

The civet's ears perked as he moved to the stairwell. Soon after, the hyena picked up on the noises of paws moving up the stairs. The civet backed up, standing beside the hyena. "That may be easier said than done." The civet reached into his jacket, pulling out a sawed off shotgun, which he had seemed to have concealed quite well. The hyena would have never guessed it by the way he moved.

Two horses, nearly identical twin clydesdales in dark blue jackets and jungle camo pants stepped through the door, lining up upon either side of one another, the uzis they held pointed straight across the room at the pair. They stood like towers, much taller than either the hyena or the civet, which was quite a testament -- the hyena must have been a little over 6 feet tall.

The hyena was fed up with being pushed. He had been captive for longer than he wanted to remember, and he'd sooner die than have to surrender again. And he had to find out who the fox upon the ground behind him was, and more importantly, had to find a way to help him before it was too late. His wings spread wide, flapping once in the direction of the two horses.

It is quite obvious that any creature with wings, an aerial for instance, has the ability to fly. What is probably lesser known, and unfortunately misunderstood to those fighting one, is that it's not the wings alone that create this capability, but rather a sort of anti gravity radiation that the wings emit as they flap -- a sort of gravity wave. As the wings flap hard (usually when they take off), the emit anti gravitation particles which bounce them from the ground and into the sky.

Of course, this ability carries with it the skill of being able to aim this gravity wave, say, at two towers across the room which are threatening to blow you to kingdom come -- and is especially effective if these towers are entirely unaware of the aforementioned ability.

As the hyena flapped his wings, a space distortion shot across the room in lighting speed, (the appearance of it very much like looking through a magnifying glass) knocking the clydesdales against the walls and the uzis from them onto the ground before them. The walls behind them collapsed to the force against them, making a notable indent.

The civet instantly responded in conjunction, firing off a shotgun blast at on of the horses, darting his way left and behind a file cabinet instantly after. The horses were quick enough to forsee the blast, even after the dazing hit from the hyena and dodge out of the way, both almost identically leaping forward upon the ground to grab their uzis. Instantly in response, the hyena moved upon all fours, flapping his wings again and flying like a spear across the room at one of the horses. He caught the horse in the chest as he was diving for the ground, pushing hims against the wall once again, wrapping his paws around the horse's belly area as he smashed into the wall.

The second horse, seeming to be more focused on the civet, picked up his uzi and layed down a burst of fire at the file cabinet the civet was behind. The civet ducked his way lower to the ground in response and prepped himself to leap across the floor. He looked out at the path he readied to cross, noticing the fox on the ground still breathing, but his breaths were growing very shallow. If he was to be saved, the civet realized this fight had to end very soon.

He waited for a stop in the bursts of fire at the cabinet, as soon as it let up he pounced sideways, aiming a blast at the hors that lay on his stomach, and fired off a blast, hitting the horse with a peppering of BBs in the arm and shoulder. The civet's other paw guided his landing, as he did so he let the barrel of the shotgun scrape the ground, unhinging it and letting the empty shells fly out the back. In his leap, he was struck by a bullet in the thigh, causing his landing to be somewhat less graceful than he wished it to be.

The hyena stood upon his feet, still bear hugging the horse. The horse hit him on his side, stacking pain on top of his already beaten figure. He responded by removing his bear hug and grabbing upon the horse's jacket, pulling them together, head butting the horse, causing him to fall to the ground, knocked out.

The second horse immediately reloaded his clip, but before he could get himself around to firing, the hyena pulled a flying leap off the ground, and as he came down, pulled a stomp kick with bone shattering force to the horse's lower back, causing the horse's second round of uzi fire to fly up the floor and along the wall.

The civet was able to quickly reload and bring himself to his feet, moving himself around the fire and bringing the barrels of the shotgun to the horse's head.

"Put it down." The civet ordered.

"Fuck you." The horse complied with total resentment as he dropped the weapon.

"Kiss the fox over there." The civet moved the barrels deeper into the horse's head, letting him know the seriousness of the situation.

"What the fuck are you talking about? I'm not doing that shit!" the horse gave an insubordinate look up to the civet, head pressed to the floor by the shotgun.

The hyena looked to the civet with a completely bewildered look. He had no idea what was going on; why the civet would say such a thing. The civet caught his look, and explained to the hyena.

"It will save his life. Now do it or I'll paint the room red."

The horse reluctantly crawled his way over to the fox, cursing under his breath the whole while from his broken back, the civet's shotgun guiding him to the fox. He leaned in, and kissed the fox, who's breath was now very shallow. As he did so, the fox's breath seemed to become deeper, and the hyena looked on in total shock as the wound upon the fox's chest began to close, the horses' wounds upon his arms and shoulder bleeding more profusely. The horse grew weak as he did so, and soon after the initial reaction, fell upon the floor beside the fox, in total pain.

The fox's breath was now deeper, his bleeding less, but he was still in a state of shock. The civet kneeled beside him, looking on at his wounds, then turning to the hyena. "If he doesn't get medical attention within the next ten minutes he's going to die."

The hyena puzzled over this, his head still racing to put pieces together. This fox was really the only one he knew that had any relation to these events. And why wasn't the civet shocked at his wings? Where the hell was he? Where could he go from here? His body quickly reverted his mind's attention to the fact that he needed to rest, and that his civet was his best bet -- he didn't want to leave the fox's side until he had some answers.....
