An Introduction to

WarZone:

First we have to look back, all the way to 1960, when an FBI executive received a tape of a blurry and shadowy figure filmed on a particularly dark night in the slums of urban NYC. The tape was filmed by a crack agent with a slight interest in the paranormal, naturally, the tape was disregarded at first. The agent continued to find similar evidence such as old tapes, dark photos, and the occasional paranoid eye-witness. One day, however, he discovered different kinds of evidence, evidence that could not be taken so lightly. What he found consisted of old, decrypted letters, and even more disturbing, were quiet phone conversations that seem to hint at the subject of the videos and photos. Seemingly on que to these discoveries, field agents started to apparently confirm what had been suspected from the evidence, werewolves had been discovered by the United States government.

They were hunted at first, of course, finding them, breaking into their groups and meeting places was difficult, but none the less the first and primary goal of the government was to capture one. Well, that was the written goal anyway, but judging by the heavy machine guns and assault rifles the fully armored agents carried, one could see that they would settle for a dead one. They were rarely successful, they didn't know how to fight them, and for a long time they didn't kill, capture, much less even get within a few feet of one. What made it worse for them is, during this time, the government put there resources into other matters, namely the war.

As years went by full of unsuccessful attempts to cull the werewolves, eventually the war ended, and the government made learning about their new enemy a top priority on the agenda. Time, money, and resources were spent hunting them, learning about them, and developing ways to kill or capture them. Eventually there work paid off, in 1981 the first werewolf was captured, they learned little, as soon after the werewolf escaped, but what they did learn they used to capture, and kill more. Over the next ten years, a dozen or so were captured and confined more carefully. Slowly, but surely, they pried their way into werewolf society, werewolf underworld. Over the next eight years, twenty five more werewolves were captured.

In the year of 2000 would be the year that changed everything for werewolves, and ultimately the world. A high ranking werewolf confronted a government official, he was given the information that new technologies had become available to the government that would make eliminating werewolves in the entire state a very realistic goal. The secretary of defense however, offered him an alternative to the annihilation of his kind. This choice, would determine the outcome his peoples was of life, and ultimately the world. And thus the deal was stricken that stands forth to the current day, of 2020.

The werewolf had found acceptance in the human world. He was given an unlimited supply of food, a three story house at the location of his choice, any kind of automobile, all at no expense to him. On top of which he received ample pay, was respected, and to most, regarded as a hero. But for all his luxuries he bears the burden that all wolves bear since that day twenty years ago. Every werewolf, from the age of five, is put through training, to become a soldier, and remains a solider till that day forward. Eventually in the years to come, the new werewolf soldier would replace the human soldier and become America's fighting machine. Indeed, the werewolf was the perfect soldier, he was faster, stronger, could live off less, and was invulnerable to all type of gunfire expect large caliber, armor piercing rounds. Most importantly, his life was less valuable than any human soldier's. This was the life a wolf lived, to fight in any war, in any battle that their country does so choose for for them, it was the cost of being accepted, of being respected.

In all truth it wasn't all that bad, the werewolves are by nature, born for combat, so the war satisfied their natural lust for bloodshed. So in a way, everyone was happy, human lives were spared, the werewolves satisfied there urge for battle, and the government had a very useful tool at its aid. But even for warriors, in this day and age they saw little combat. In their first few years introduced into the world, of course they were protested and a bit scrutinized, but in the libertarian world they lived in, it died down in a few years and people accepted them. But as far as war goes in the middle east, the rebels and terrorist quickly became terrified themselves at their new, advanced, and monstrous enemy. Not only that, but added technology was invested into these warriors, a medium weight armor suit was given, and heavier caliber guns were built specific for wolves, as such could be made without worry of recoil and shock effects. But relatively short after their introduction, war started to die down there, as did in many other places in the world were they made themselves known. Eventually, the soldiers life came down to training, patrol missions, and only the occasional skirmish.

Werewolves were, although still soldiers, used anywhere else in the government were vital security was necessary, the president himself hired on a few werewolves as his personal bodyguards. With war died down, and most of them just living life to the fullest, things had really improved for the wolves. However, in such good conditions, things could not stay the way they were. And that brings us to whom this story concerns. In this story, we will follow one wolf as he is thrown into a world of bloodshed and brutality as he becomes a soldier, we will see him experience war and bloodshed that the world hasn't seen for over a hundred years. In this story we will see how one wolf, one soldier, is still very human.
