#1 of A Brother's Love

Jeremy laid on his bed with his stereo playing and him mind wandering over what to do for the weekend. It was Friday at around three o' clock and he didn't have any homework. He sighed contentedly and counted to three. 'One...Two...Three' he heard the front door slam right on time. Michael was home. He stretched for a second and then got up to turn his stereo off. He knew he'd be helping Michael with his homework for a little bit so he got his brain working on some easy math to get warmed up.

Jeremy scratched at his belly fur that was as white as the first snowfall of the season. It was one of the things he had come to like about his appearance. He thought it made him look foxy both figuratively and literally. He stood a good height at five foot ten not including his ears perched atop his head. He scratched his right paw with his left one and admired the red coloring on the top of it that shifted to white at the underside of his wrists. He walked out of the room being careful not to clip his white tipped tail in the door again. Jeremy knocked on the wall to let Michael know he was on his way.

He found Michael in the kitchen making himself a snack of salami on crackers. Michael was Jeremy's foster-brother and his best friend. He was a white furred wolf that stood about three inches taller than Jeremy again not including ears. He also had a piercing in his left ear. It held a small silver hoop which he was playing with now. Jeremy pulled out a chair from the kitchen table and sat down.

"How was detention today?" Jeremy asked as was their Friday ritual.

Every Friday Jeremy would try to cut class to get out a little early, get caught, end up with detention and end up coming home an hour after last bell. To Jeremy's surprise Michael didn't answer him with anything but a grunt. Jeremy gave Michael a critical look.

Jeremy prodded hoping to help, "Something wrong?"

Michael picked up his plate of snacks and went upstairs. Alarms were ringing in Jeremy's head. This was not good. Michael never just didn't talk to him. Jeremy got up and picked up Michael's book bag and rummaged through it. He found a slip of paper with the school's official heading on it. He skimmed it at first and got a very good shock. He read it one more time to clarify what was written. It read:

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Yassimma,

Your son, Michael, has been having some issues at school. While these issues are not academically related we fear that you must be notified. He has had some issues with gay bashing and some students have been hurt. The parents have promised not to sue as long as he does not return to school for a while. We fear that at this time we will have to suspend him for an indefinite amount of time for the safety of both him and the other students. In the mean time we will be sending his homework, projects and tests home with your other son, Jeremy, to insure that Michael doesn't fall behind. We will notify you again when it has become safe to let Michael come back to school.

Mrs. Stephenson

Jeremy was pissed, at both the school and Michael. He was pissed at the school for not bothering to correct for the fact that the two seventeen-year-olds lived alone after their foster-parents died in a plane crash. He was pissed at Michal for Michael hurting people because they were gay. That's just plain mean. Jeremy stormed up the stairs with the letter in tow to deal with the one issue he could deal with now, Michael. He banged on Michael's door and waited for the wolf to let him in. When he didn't then Jeremy just opened the door.

"What the hell does the principal mean by this!? You were hurting people because they were gay? Our Mom and Dad raised us better than that. What the hell is wrong with you!?" Jeremy screamed at his foster-brother who only looked at him with a mix of shock and anger.

"What the hell were you doing going through my shit!?" Michael fired back at him.

"Don't you dare try to change the subject!" Jeremy yelled pissed again, "Why did you hurt those students!?"

"I hurt them in self-defense!" Michael yelled at his foster-brother

Jeremy looked very confused and took a deep breath trying to calm down. He was mixed up somehow. "What do you mean self-defense? It says that you had some gay bashing issues. If you were defending yourself then wouldn't that mean that..." Jeremy didn't finish his sentence as he looked up at Michael.

"Yes. That means that I was the gay being bashed. Not them." Michael looked at his paws as he said it. He was ashamed of it. "I ended up hurting them because I was just plain stronger. I didn't mean to."

Jeremy stood there dumbfounded. His foster-brother whom he had wanted for so long was just like him. He moved forward to his brother and he hugged him tightly. He whispered in his brother's ear, "I'm so sorry. I didn't know."

Michael hugged him back and gave a slight smile. "You weren't supposed to. No one was supposed to know. How they found out I'll never know." Michael shook his head. "I'm guessing this means you don't hate me?" Michael pleaded with Jeremy.

Jeremy sat on his brother's lap and looked him in the eyes. "If I did then I'd be one really big hypocritical bastard." He leaned forward and put his muzzle by Michael's ear and whispered, "Because I'm gay too."

Michael hugged his brother hard and jumped up for joy before letting Jeremy go. "You have no idea how happy I am that you still like me!"

Jeremy gave a slight smile and thought to himself 'It probably doesn't compare to how happy that I am knowing that not only do you accept me but now I have a chance at you'

Jeremy grabbed Michael's paw and dragged him to his closet. "Put on something nice. We're going out to celebrate!"

Michael did as he was told as Jeremy returned to his room to get ready too. Now he just had to figure a way to see if his foster-brother liked him the way Jeremy liked Michael.
