Lexter works to resolve issue, as the title of the story says

Lexter sulked back to the entrance to 'The Den' with his paws barely covering his substantially swelled up arousal. The furs in the parking lot hooted and hollered at him. A lot of cell phones came out and took a lot of pictures of the naked muscular husky as he streaked by.

As Lexter walked back into the building, Cowboy worked hard on controlling his laughter as he patted Lexter on the back. "Atta-way ta do it there, pup!"

Lexter slinked back to the dance floor, as the crowd yelled and cheered him on. Of course, he danced naked in front of a horny audience when he stripped. He didn't have an issue with that. Well, maybe some. However, there was just something reeeeally embarrassing about streaking in front of everyone while heading out to the parking lot. It was just... wrong. As he walked by, paws reached out to touch various body parts, and to give cash.

Once he got back to the dance floor, he quietly collected up his things and tips. Audience members laughed and continued to hand him cash, which he meekly collected up. He finally scurried away back to the changing room, where he dressed and counted up his tips. He had to admit that his parking lot 'full-furry-runoff' brought in a lot of money. It was the most he ever made stripping.

Since he was the last dancer, no other dancers prepared to head out. Once dressed, he readied himself, and headed out to the nightclub. He was greeted with another round of cat calls and wolf whistles, which he numbly took.

While he walked back to his mother and company, paws kept coming out to caress him and stuff cash into his clothes. He allowed it while keeping his expression neutral and downcast to the floor.

Once back with his girlfriend, mother and Gary, Lexter had to wait for them to stop laughing before he could talk to them about what occurred. They agreed with him that he should go to the upper company directors to talk about Bilby's invasiveness.

Lexter kissed Jamie, hugged his mother, and shook paws with Gary, as he said he had to go back home. As he left the bar, more paws reached out to give cash rewards. Lexter went home and finished up his homework, while his roommate Barry went on and on about his birthday gift from Cowboy.

The next day, Lexter called the ballet company to set up a meeting with the company head before school started. With appointment set, he went to school and attended his computer classes. Since he received a waiver from his dance professors so he could dance at The Metro City Ballet Company, he left campus midday to visit the ballet company.

Lexter arrived at the ballet company building, went in, and received directions to the head of the company. He steeled himself for the confrontation and hoped he could perform enough damage control by explaining about Bilby's rudeness to the senior executive. And, he wanted to report on Bilby's endless anger at him during the practice sessions.

The company chief head was Jonnie Concat. She was a former ballet dancer who became a choreographer, and worked her way up the ranks of management to become the senior executive at the company. Although the job didn't pay that much, she married well. Being the senior executive also meant she possessed society clout around the city.

When Lexter first auditioned for the company two years ago, she was one of the reviewers who gave him very favorable feedback. She was also the one who personally gave her approval for him to dance the part of the 'Wolf Prince' in 'The Princess Canine' during his earlier audition. He desperately hoped her favoritism worked for him.

Lexter went to her office and told the secretary about his appointment. She waved him by. He walked to the office door and knocked. He heard a 'Come in', and walked into the office.

Sitting behind her desk sat Jonnie Concat. She was a 60 something female tabby who held herself with incredible poise. She dressed in a simple but professional pants suit, and held a cup of green tea. Her office was a paperwork nightmare, with huge filing cabinets lining the office, and a lot of posters featuring previous ballet events.

Unfortunately for Lexter, across from Jonnie sat Bilby. He looked flustered as he glanced back at Lexter with a scowl.

Lexter readied himself for the confrontation and marched into the office.

Before Lexter could say a word, Bilby pointed at the husky and said in an exasperated voice "Jonnie! We don't need that incompetent immoral excuse for a dancer at the company, no?"

Lexter barked back "Oh shut up you dumb dog! You have been a pain in my ass ever since..."

Jonnie raised her voice and said "Enough!" Although she didn't yell that loud, her authority cut through the air as they both lost their voice. They looked at Jonnie and waited for her to speak.

Jonnie pointed at an empty chair. She said in a simple voice "Lexter. Sit."

Lexter automatically sat without question.

Jonnie sipped some green tea before she spoke. "Now Bilby, you've been complaining to me since day one about Lexter. At first you said he can't dance, but..." She turned to Lexter and looked at him with a very plain expression. "...I watched him perform at a few of his college dances. I can always spot talent, and he has ample supply of that."

The fact that someone as important as Jonnie watched him dance stunned Lexter. A kernel of hope sparked deep within him. A small smile began to form on his face.

Bilby's voice interrupted her. "But Jonnie..."

Jonnie cut through his voice again with that same authoritarian voice. "Silence."

Bilby piped down, very annoyed.

Jonnie faced Bilby again. "Then you complained that Lexter is throwing off the other dancers, and that they don't like him." She glanced at Lexter. "But, I've spoken to the others, and they say he is a delight to work with."

A half smile stretched out on Lexter's face. So far so good, he thought. I may pull this off.

Bilby whined again. "But Jonnie..."

Jonnie snapped back at Bilby. "Let me finish."

Bilby silenced down, still annoyed.

Jonnie glared at Bilby and said, more reserved than before. "Now, you're showing me pictures of him on your phone."

Lexter's smile vanished at that nugget of information. Oh fur... she already saw them... Despair washed over him.

Bilby held up his phone and began to speak again.

Jonnie held up a paw, halting him. "Wait." She sipped again before speaking. "Bilby, this was supposed to be a test for you, to see how well you can lead. A choreographer is supposed to coach and encourage others, not snap naked pictures of them."

Despite the severity of the situation, Lexter snorted out a stifled giggle.

Both Jonnie and Bilby shot Lexter a very cold glare, which made Lexter silence down. He felt like a kid at the adult table, and just told everyone that he had to go 'poopie'.

Bilby burst out "But Jonnie, we have that morality clause with the company, no?" He motioned to Lexter with utmost disgust. "He works at that... rat-hole excuse of a bar..."

Lexter's anger grew toward Bilby. He liked that bar, and no one insulted it. He glared at Bilby, but held his tongue.

Bilby continued. "...and he strips there!" He stood up and waved his paws in the air. "He will give our ballet company a bad reputation!"

Jonnie tried to get a word in edge-wise. "Bilby..."

Bilby ranted on. "We don't need him!" He looked down at Jonnie with hope in his eyes. "Think of it. I can dance the part of the wolf prince'..." He held himself upright with regal presence. "...and save the performance."

Lexter began to see the workings of Bilby's mind. He wanted to make me quit and take the lead, he thought. His anger notched up a few levels at Bilby as he continued to glare.

Jonnie tensed up and exclaimed "For the last time... No!" She pointed at him and motioned for him to sit down. Reluctantly he did. She sipped her tea before she spoke again. "I know you can dance. But I need to know if you can lead. That is the test." Her voice rose up another notch. "I'm trying to see if you're a fit for the company. Got it?!"

Bilby reluctantly nodded and kept silent.

Jonnie glanced at Lexter, and then back to Bilby. "Bilby, you will leave now. I wish to have a word in private with Lexter. Then I'll make my decision on how to proceed."

Bilby hesitantly got up. He opened his mouth to speak when Jonnie pointed toward the door. "You should be at practice now. Go." Bilby closed his mouth, but still lingered, as if deciding to further argue his case. Jonnie spoke again, with an air of authority. "Leave." Bilby gave one last dagger-laced stare, and then left the office.

Lexter watched Bilby leave. He felt a lot better, as he thought he had a chance. But when he faced Jonnie, he saw her cold gaze on him. He felt very small and insignificant, and remained silent.

Jonnie let the silence last a bit longer, causing him to squirm. Then, she spoke. "What the FUR were you thinking, not telling us that you stripped for a living?"

Lexter felt very vulnerable right now. He weekly mumbled out "Well..."

Jonnie cut him off. "You signed that damn form when you agreed to dance the part!"

Lexter's mind wandered back to that form with all of the legal mumbo-jumbo that he skipped. He shrank down in his chair. Oh fur, he thought. He didn't want to bring up his lack of forth sight.

Unfortunately for Lexter, Jonnie's eyes narrowed on him, as she completed the thought. "You didn't even read the damn form, did you?"

Lexter wilted under the accusation. "I... glanced at it... no..."

Jonnie shook her head, picked up her green tea and sipped before she spoke again. "I don't like to be made a fool of, Lexter. You're a good dancer. One of the best I've ever seen..."

Again, Lexter considered he had a chance. He sat up straighter and started to smile.

Jonnie continued to speak. "...but all dancers here follow the rules." She pointed to him. "It applies to everyone."

Again, Lexter wilted from the negativity. A small part of him still clung to hope.

Jonnie shook her head and remained silent while she thought things out. After a few moments she said "I'm going to let you dance the part of the wolf prince..."

Lexter straightened up in his chair, his heart filled with elation.

Jonnie continued on. "...and I will take over choreography of the dance myself."

Lexter broke out to a broad smile as the horror of Bilby wash away from him. "T-thanks, ma'am." He stammered out.

Jonnie finished off her green tea and put the mug into her desk drawer. She chuckled. "Now, I'm not saying that the company should lower its standards one bit, but I don't have a problem that you work for a living, right?"

Lexter enthusiastically nodded. "Right, ma'am."

"There will be some formal objection about your activities, but I believe it will not hurt us in the long run." Jonnie gave Lexter a warm look. "But, what do I know? I'm just a ballet dancer, turned choreographer, turned producer and executive."

Lexter nodded again. "Right you are, ma'am."

Jonnie tapped her fingers together. "This is interesting that this came up. The same thing happened with your mother. Did you know that?"

Lexter's jaw dropped open in surprise. "You knew my mother?" he blurted out. It never occurred to him that he would meet that many furs from his mother's past.

Jonnie gave a small smile and nodded. "Of course I do. I always remember the good dancers, and your mother was one of the best I've ever seen."

Lexter nodded again. "Yes, she was, ma'am." He enjoyed the compliment.

Jonnie continued to speak. "She reapplied here to be a dancer after you were born. You must have been a pup. She stripped at that time to support you."

Lexter agreed. "I know. My mom told me about that."

Jonnie retrieved a few papers on her desk, and put them into her desk drawer. "Just to let you know, I wanted to let your mother dance again. But, I didn't have the clout I have now, so I was overruled. I felt it was a mistake to let such a talent go." She gazed into his eyes with genuine warmth. "I always want the talented ones to shine at our company."

Lexter ducked his head from the compliment. "Thanks, ma'am."

Jonnie stood up and rummaged through a stack of old posters. "Now, let's see... where is it?" She went through a list of posters before she pulled one out. "Here it is." The poster was pressed onto a back board. On the poster it showed a lithe husky ballet dancer, with one arm in the air and one above her. Above, it said 'The Beauty of Dance', and below it said 'The Metro City Ballet Company'. She held it up for Lexter to view. "We even used her for a promotional photo op."

Lexter smiled with the biggest smile. Of course he instantly recognized the poster. "I have that same one on my door in my apartment, ma'am."

Jonnie nodded. "She was very photogenic." She put the poster away. "I wouldn't mind meeting her again."

Lexter said "If you want, I can call her. I'm sure she would love to visit."

Jonnie grabbed a file of notes, walked toward her office door and opened it. "I'll do one better. We are having a party at my place after the performance." She motioned for him to follow her as she left. Lexter stood up and left the office. Jonnie said to Lexter once he caught up "Why don't you invite her to the party? We can catch up then."

Lexter felt elated. He gushed out "She would love that!" With a bit of afterthought, he asked "Can I also invite her husband and my girlfriend? They are also my special invites to the dance."

Jonnie nodded. "Always. I would love to meet them."

As the two of them walked the hallway, Jonnie asked "So, do your strip gigs always involve a parking lot performance, or was Bilby just an exception." She kept an absolutely straight face.

Lexter cringed from the question. He SOOOOO didn't want to talk about his... streak... He hesitantly said "Um... n-no ma'am... it was just that one time..." He hoped the line of questioning would end right there and then.

Jonnie thought about his answer and then asked another question. "I'm kind of curious, are you always fully aroused when you strip?" They stopped at an elevator, and she pressed the button for it.

Lexter nervously glanced at Jonnie and noticed a small half smile on her face. "Um... no... I get help for that... from the audience..." Lexter flustered as embarrassment washed over him. He chanted a change-of-questioning charm in his head.

Fortunately for Lexter, Jonnie changed the subject to other things as they entered the elevator. Both Jonnie and Lexter got off the elevator and wandered to the main studio. As they walked, Lexter talked about the troubles and bad vibes he got from Bilby. Jonnie confirmed Lexter's observations with her own recounts from the other dancers.

The two of them entered the studio to find the entire cast of 'The Princess Canine' practicing at the direction of Bilby. The cast was set up to perform the big dance scene where the suitors were introduced to the royal canine family. Bilby danced in the scene, playing the part of the wolf prince, while he issued orders to the rest of the crew. That set Lexter's teeth on edge and angered him. The dancers, with their professional demeanor, performed with grace.

Jonnie commanded the music to stop, and then spoke up. "Attention everyone." The entire room looked to her. "As you may have heard, there was an incident that occurred with Lexter, that brought up his eligibility to dance with the company in this performance."

Everyone listened. Bilby's eyes were wide with anticipation.

Jonnie continued. "I've made a decision on this issue." She motioned to the husky next to her. "He will remain in the role of the 'Wolf Prince'."

Immediately, the entire room murmured their approval. Obviously, they liked that decision. The other dancers gathered around Lexter and jostled him with glee. Lexter silently thanked them.

Bilby let out a loud gasp. "You mean... that incompetent fool?!?"

"No." Jonnie glared at Bilby. "I mean this talented dancer."

Lexter never felt so vindicated. He stood there and smiled.

Exasperated, Bilby exclaimed "Fine. I'll coach this... this... thing..." he motioned to Lexter with disgust. "...to dance."

The other dancers fell silent. Lexter hated the insulting reference, but stayed quiet.

Jonnie took a step toward Bilby. "And you're relieved from duty, Bilby." She said in a softer but just as authoritative tone "I'll take over the choreography myself."

Immediately the other dancers erupted into an instant cheer. Lexter smiled with vindication.

Bilby looked completely shell shocked. He stammered out in a small voice "W... what?"

Jonnie continued in her same tone of voice. "Bilby, this was supposed to be a test, and by every measurable metric, you failed. I will give you another test, but..." She stepped up to him. "...you should learn from your mistakes. Do you understand?"

Bilby's mouth open and shut without saying a word. Finally, meekly nodded, and slinked out of the room.

Jonnie took her spot near the person in charge of the music and set her notes on the table. She announced "Now, we will start with the beginning scene. And if we're not ready..." Her voice took a slightly dangerous tone. "...there will be trouble."

The dancers got in their places. Even though he wasn't dressed for it, Lexter took his position. There was a general upbeat mood with the dancers, as they welcomed Jonnie as their new choreographer. The mood of the room rose up a few notches as they took their places.

Jonnie signaled for the music to start. The introductory scene began, and the characters introduced themselves in the opening sequence. Jonnie watched and directed the cast with expertise, and issued orders. The dancers performed their parts with professionalism, with Lexter dancing with them.
