Now you're thinking with portals!

A quick prologue to the new story I'll be working on. Take note that this story won't be replacing my MLP story as the center of my focus unless it gets a ton of attention; I just wanted to write the prologue.

Also, this story isn't strictly furry, but I think its close enough.

*Boom* *Crash* *Pow*

The sounds of explosions were all around them. Shrapnel rained down upon them, and bullets whizzed around them in every direction.

"MICHEL! He's going to beat us there!" George shouted. He was only a few feet ahead of Michel, taking cover amongst debris that littered the area.

"Where are Sarah and Pauli?" Michel shouted back. She was well shielded on her left, but her right side was completely exposed.

"I don't know, but we can't worry about that now! Michel, this will be his fourth if he gets it; you need to trigger this win, not let it slip out." He shouted again.

Michel jumped up from her cover. Instantly, the amount of bullets that were flying doubled. She jumped through the air and landed next to George, who covered her with his body. "No hits?" He asked.

"One, I think." She replied.

"After this battle, you need to start considering retirement, Michel. You're getting too old for this" George said.

"George, I'm going to go for it; this world is too unstable anyway. Ending it would be a blessing for once. How much time until he gets there?" She asked.

"You only have about 3 minutes left. The cube is right in the middle of that house. God damn it." He shouted as an explosion blew off the far wall of the house. "Why did it have to be right in the middle of a Warfield?"

"It doesn't matter. Cover me, I'm going." Michel began to disappear. As she did, Pauli and Sarah appeared a little ways off to the right. When George waved at them, they nodded and threw up flares, followed by long-range flash bang grenades.

For a few seconds the sounds of war continued. Then, slowly, they began to fade a little as both sides lost their vision. "GO!" George shouted, deploying his super shield and drawing the little fire that remained. Once the bullets centred on him, he took out his crossbow and nocked a divider. He fired one to the left and then one to the right. Both sides cowered as a hail of arrows appeared from the one he had fired.

Suddenly, George saw him; the Shadow man. He smiled at George from across the battlefield.

"Why you smiling, bastard? We win this one!" George shouted.

The Shadow pointed behind him. George turned and saw why he was so cocky.

The house exploded, completely destroyed. Flames roared everywhere, and more explosions rocked the ground around it. "MICHEEEEEELL!" George shouted.

*Blink* *Bip bip bip bip bip* A white light emenated from the destroyed house, and all the sounds stopped as the land around the house, as well as the people and everything that existed in Otaku was destroyed, vaporised by the energy of the box.

George ran forward on the path of pure light that was now the ground. Sarah and Pauli followed on his right, and through the light he could see others, about a dozen, who were in various states of damage. Missing legs, skin burned off, giant holes in their chests. It didn't matter; they would be on the path of healing now.

No, George only had eyes for one person right now. He saw her, lying naked in the middle of the halo of light. "Michel, are you okay?" He asked.

She turned towards him. That's when George saw it; the mark on her breast. It was glowing. "NO, Michel, don't you dare go and die on me!" He shouted.

She smiled at him. "Sorry George, looks like this is my last battle." She coughed up some blood that got vaporised the moment it left her mouth. "George, don't interrupt; my final minutes have already started ticking. Listen. When you get back, I'm putting you in charge of the next gen's first time. George, you need to show them everything." She withdrew a cylinder from thin air, holding it out to him. "Some things to help you along your way." George took it from her. "George, make sure you tell her everything!" Michel said.

"Her... You can't possibly mean?" He asked.

"Yes, Christine must be the next guardian. I don't know of any others of my kind; I saw her mark George." Michel explained as quickly as she could. She was down to two minutes.

"Michel, she's too young, too weak. She'll never manage it after the first time. She doesn't have enough friends who would be willing to help her! Michel, if she dies, it's all over; the Shadow will have won!" George pleaded.

"There are no others, George. She will find a way. Tell everyone thank you for me; for all the long years they've followed me through. And thank you, George. You're the one who's followed me the longest." She said. As she finished talking, a 5 appeared in the air. "Goodbye George." 4 "I'll miss you." 3 "Don't come join me." 2 "Too soon." 1

"MICHEL!" 0

Michel's body vaporised itself, and in the distance, as George, Sarah, Pauli and all the others that had come through began to vanish, They heard the terrible laugh of the Shadow as he lost the battle, but destroyed the enemy.
